Name: Cameron Patel
Nationality: North Pointian
Age (21 at youngest): 38
Gender: Male

Rank (O-1, O-2 or O-3): O-1
Callsign: Slag

Appearance: Facial appearance
Height: 5’10
Weight: 163 lbs

Aircraft:F-5E Tiger II

Aircraft Appearance: The aircraft is painted black, with any kind of warning, roundel or emblem painted white.

Emblem: A black or white playboy bunny

Funds: Ƶ5,000

Personality: Stoic by nature, Cameron personifies the Stiff Upper Lip culture so stereotypical of the upper class North Pointians.

Strengths: Calm and collected, Cameron can have the world come crashing down around him and he will maintain himself in good order, in fact, he did this very thing during a certain mission during the war. His cool nature under pressure is infectious, and he can, and has been, a rock for a team to rally around when a situation goes south.

Weaknesses: Rapidly planning is a weakness, while he can maintain his cool during a quickly devolving situation, he is slow to figure out a plan to reverse said situation. He typically leaves such things to his higher ranking officers as he buys them time to figure it out.

Likes: Hes a professional first before anything, and he holds the two worlds of public and private life very separate. Typically when not assisting in the maintenance of his aircraft, he can be found in silence, reading about air victories of past aces, or any kind of bad airport science-fiction novel he can get his hands on.

He maintains a semi-military schedule in his barracks life, and it helps him think or prepare for any coming missions, or just to reflect on his life up to that point.

Dislikes: Overly ambitious children are one of his most annoying pet peeves. As are mercenaries with a superiority complex to fighter pilots of national air forces. Cutting his teeth in UCW before be was a mercenary pilot, he has a disdain for the chaotic nature of career mercenaries, despite being one himself now.

He also dislikes disorganized structures, and attempts to maintain some kind of hierarchy in all systems he works in.

Bio: Born to old money, Cameron had been groomed to meet the expectations of proper North Pointian high class society, all but set for a career in politics and maintain his families’ status quo. However he wouldn’t be able to just step into the Parliament, he’d have to earn his seat. This is where the military would come in. The plan had been for him to go to a decent military university, leave with a commission in the army and take a cush admin job somewhere in North Point proper.

However the planetfall of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid would change all of that.

The life of peace and prosperity he knew ended abruptly, and before he knew it conflict was bubbling below the surface. He felt a calling to act, to do something about the situation. As the global situation further spiralied down, the army seemed like a way to waste his capabilities. He became convinced he’d become some frontline officer, as the needs of the nation would come before whatever cush politically-friend posting he was originally set for. As the past, he found himself reading books and stories of the fighter pilots of wars past, and he rapidly found himself enamoured with them. They came off the pages as knights of yore engaged in honorable jousting, where the actions of singular men would change the tide of battle. He was hooked, and he changed his focus from the army, to the Royal North Point Air Force.

He was lucky, as just when he graduated, war would come to Usea.

As a relatively green pilot, he would find himself thrown into the Usean Continental War, fighting in its earliest defeats to being an ace present for its greatest victories, Cameron would become a small-time hero, with 33 total kills under his belt by the end of the war. From there however, he had caught the bug of military service, and he attempted to stay in the RNPAF. He was able to do this for a time until finally peace dividends would kick in, and as the RNPAF began to cut costs, Cameron would find himself apart of them. Discharged from the air force, he found civilian life boring and unregulated, as well he yearned for the skies more and more. He attempted commercial piloting, however the lack of high G maneuvering, the loud screaming of a radar-warning indicator, or the sudden rush of the 3 AM alert scramble was unbearable.

Using contacts he had amassed during the war, he sought work as a hired fighter pilot, and work he found. Since the end of the war, he has been apart of a number of smaller conflicts, with an extra dozen or so kills under his belt as he worked various nameless mercenary organizations.

The outbreak of war in Emmeria brought a familiar challenge in a new setting. A large scale conflict was different than the boring snorefests of air combat in civil wars, it was much more intense with the reward being even greater.

Assume you've been there the whole time.

You should probably wait until the next mission update (which is coming soon) so you know what's left to kill. All Aces have currently been claimed.

Aircraft Name: Lamia
Funds: Ƶ 3,200 (Ƶ 2,800 were spent on food, fuel, transport costs, maintenance, shelter, a compact camera, financial aid to his poverty-stricken family members and paint to add an Emmerian Air Force roundel and other relevant insignia).

Personality: Alois could best be described as arrogant, cocky, naïve and unruly.
Though he grew up in decent circumstances and great wealth, the political tension in Verusea, especially the people’s attitudes towards the foreigners that seemingly undermined their politics and economy, was always rife and palpable. As the native Veruseans were distrustful of him, so did Alois become distrustful of them, and though he has the tact and sense never to propagate such views openly, Alois’s environment has unfortunately instilled some racist views in him.
His fascination with unorthodox types of spirituality, as well as his outlandish superstitions and customs, has given Alois a reputation as a bit of a crackpot loonie. His youthful energy and confidence greatly contribute to this visage as well, which mainly means he’s regarded as an unreliable loose cannon.
His upper-class background, as well as his belief that he’s somehow superior to others because he’s read political philosophy, or because he has ‘divine favour’ marks him as pretentious and obscurely overconfident. His bellicose and energetic nature avert him to most forms of discipline and make it so that he’s notoriously unruly and difficult to control properly.
As with some other eccentricities of his, Alois frequently decides new things which he hopes will grant him good fortune. He has a number of talismans of all shapes and sizes, including some idols made of wood and stone, a gold amulet his mother gave him for his sixteenth birthday, and an expensive automatic Zenith watch that he inherited from his grandfather. When he arrived on the landing strip in Levant, he curiously had his face painted in bright red, seemingly to attract Mars' divine favour. Now that he's taken up work with the Emmerians, he claims that he won't ever take off without a piece of paper containing the bounties awarded for taking down enemy targets, though Alois claims he took this measure to 'achieve maximum profit', his more experienced fellow pilots scoff at his pretentious antics.

Bio:
Background
Alois Gustave Adolphe Burckhardt was born in the port city of Jinghai, in what was then the Republic of Verusea, on the 13th of October, 1994. His father Christoph Burckhardt, a Gebetian-born businessman and scion of a wealthy bourgeois family from the nation’s capital city of Mons, had travelled to Verusea to earn a living surveying the Jinghai Stock Exchange. Armed with a name belonging to an affluent patrician household and a degree in finance from a luxurious private university, the man soon found himself dabbling in a world filled with egregious Erusean exiles, boastful Belkan bellators and accomplished Amberian administrators, among them a certain count Clément de Meysembourg. Sent to China due to his tactlessness at home, he managed to get himself into financial troubles after developing a serious gambling addiction. Christoph, who had always wanted to increase his personal prestige above that of a capitalist’s son from Gebet, hoped to marry into the Amberian nobility. Due to his recent successes in market speculation, as well as his family’s wealth, the penniless aristocrat gave him his blessing, and it wasn’t long before Christoph and Clément’s second daughter Marie were married.

The former seemed uneasy in Verusea – a highly intelligent woman, she regarded her husband as a bit of an oaf, but assented to the marriage anyway, knowing that a life in a nunnery awaited her if she didn’t, and if journals taught her anything, you would scant want to be a Catholic nun in China in the late 1980s. For decades, the slaughter and destruction of missions across the Verusan and South Osean continents crowded newspapers, and an ever-growing influence of communists inside the country endorsed violence against what they perceived to be Anean imperialism, propagated by people like Alois’s father. It was in such a political climate that the young boy was born, entering the world as the thirdborn son to the couple in 1994.

Early childhood
Alois spent the first few years of his life in absolute comfort and stability, profiting off of his family’s privileges and wealth. He was baptized as a Presbyterian, for his father, a confirmed Calvinist, had to make do with the lack of reformed denominations in the largely non-Christian Verusea. Though all of the family have always remained firm to the church, Alois would go onto apostatise his religion, becoming enamoured with the spiritual beliefs of some of the Perennialist writers of the early 20th century. Other than that, the boy was largely from the native population and hardly interacted with Veruseans at all, save for the limited number of native servants that worked in the family’s service. Most of his early education and socialization was done through western private schools, which were run by protestant missionaries, his siblings, childhood friends, all of which belonged to Western families, and the church. Other than that, he loved to read, doing so from a very young age. The first book he can remember reading was the Odyssey, and his father managed to supply him with a great many other classics, including the Iliad, the Aeneid, Beowulf, the Eddas, Oedipus Rex, The Divine Comedy, and others. This fascinated him with ancient literature and made him wonder what a pre-Christian world looked like.

His fascination with ancient characters from these heroic epics led to some hero-worship, which culminated in the boy’s glorification of the military, and the establishment of a sort of heroism in war, as well as the transcendental worth of heroism and valour as the greatest virtue, a belief that was further reinforced when he read more political philosophy in his early adolescence.

Growing up, Alois learnt how to play the piano, and though he’s gotten quite good at playing all sorts of Classical music, he’s recently started to listen to modern tunes more and more, though he purposefully listens to the classics as well, knowing that listening to the former usually stimulates him, whereas the latter helps soothe him down a lot better. Burckhardt has picked up the slightly dangerous habit of listening to music whilst in the air, which decreases his focus and concentration quite a lot.

Alois's siblings and their roles in his life
His eldest brother Maximilian, six years his senior, was the best brother a boy could ask for, who played a large role in socializing young Alois when he was just a toddler. He left the house at the age of ten to attend a boarding school abroad and went on to study chemistry at the prestigious University of Farbanti in the kingdom of Erusea. Just before Alois’s twelfth birthday, Maximilian was tragically killed whilst voicing his dissatisfaction with the new fascist Erusean government in a student protest. With Verusean politics declining into what would be a clash between communist and anti-communist forces, as well as the Burckhardt’s perception as a class of elitist foreign nobles who dabbling in the politics of countries where they didn’t belong, the new Federal Republic chose not to return Maximilian’s body to his family. This troubled the Burckhardts greatly and left wounds that haven’t quite healed yet.

His eldest sister, Louise, a gentle, timid soul, chose to remain with her family in the Amberian legation quarter of Jinghai. With no spouse or strong connections, she had no place to run, and often wrote to her younger brother to tell him about occurrences back home – the neighbours getting a new cat, Anne getting steadily better at tennis, and the exile of countless Westerners from the quarters in anticipation of political violence. Alois got his last letter from her about half a year ago. Unsure of where she is now, whether she is safe, healthy or still with her family, he tries not to think about her too much.

His twin brother Georg attended flight school at the same age Alois did, and outclassed him in aerial acrobatics, showing his skill and prowess from an early age. He enjoyed a relatively stable life as a commercial pilot, signing a contract at BelkanWings at about the same time his twin brother earnt his stripes. Alois has always had to struggle with an inferiority complex, owing to the fact that his slightly older twin managed to beat him at a great many things. Flying was no exception, and the fact that his twin could easily outmatch him in his preferred hobby and favourite pastime troubled him more than it should have.

Philipp and Elisabeth, Alois’s younger siblings, grew up under the strain of civil strife, a fact that greatly troubled the Burckhardts in the years leading up to the political fallout that would rock the nation. The former, plagued by the insecurity he felt as the youngest son of the family, heroically joined the anti-communist guerrilla forces on the ground less than a year ago. Due to a lack of communication between him and his family, Alois hasn’t heard the news that his youngest brother fell at the recent battle of Huangtu, a preventable casualty in an unnecessary battle fought at a strategically irrelevant city. As far as Alois knows, Elisabeth is still with mum, dad and Anne. He hopes it’ll stay that way, and that he and George will somehow be able to pool enough money together to guarantee that the four of them can finally free the country that regards them as reactionary scum.

Adolescence and Military Service
As a result of Verusea’s war with a coalition of foreign forces, Georg and Alois both attended the nation’s military academy to go through flight training and earn their commission. The war ended before either of them flew any combat missions, however, and the former, sensing that he could best try to distance himself from the political violence on the streets of Jinghai, became a commercial pilot for a foreign company, whereas Alois, the inferior pilot of the two, never got the grades to do so. He did regard serving in the military as preferable to civilian life, which he regarded as dull and unfulfilling. These beliefs were later reinforced when he started to dabble in obscure quasi-religious militarist philosophy.

The communist coup forced Burckhardt to desert his post in Jinghai and flee eastwards, where reactionary opposition forces rebelled against what was once their own government. Spurred on by international support and cheap equipment leased by a number of powers, the rebels fought on, and further destabilized a country that had yet come out of a very bloody war. It was the Republic of Indus that allowed Alois to fly again – exporting a number of their severely outdated, severely imperfect HAL HF-24 Marut fighter bombers, one of which the boy could get his hands on. After getting some additional hours of getting used to the new aircraft, a twenty-year-old Alois flew his first combat mission. The anti-communist forces were very disorganized, and thus essentially ceded aerial supremacy to their rivals in the east. The Marut, which was largely incapable of performing in dogfights, lacking severely in an air-to-air capability, dramatically fell short of Alois’s expectations. On their first flight, the three aircraft that comprised Burckhardt’s flight had taken a great beating. One of his mates was downed over communist lines, and his own aircraft, “Lamia” got decently strafed as well. However, the Marut is a very forgiving and tough lady, and Alois managed to get back to the airfield safely.

The following times he got to fly his aircraft were to retreat it to airbases farther west on short notice. The guerrilla forces didn’t like transporting their aircraft by lorry or train, because they felt their lines were too delicate, and logistical operations often got ambushed. After relocating two times, Alois feared that the war would soon be over and that he’d be forced to capitulate to the communists, whom he believed would surely shoot him. Fearing that he would either be shot or fly his plane westward until it landed in the ocean, he finally made the decision to desert. Bribing his maintainer, whose trust in the final victory was wavering as well, and who would need all the money he could get if he wanted to book it, Burckhardt managed to fly his fully fueled-up aircraft North under the cover of night, first landing in Kuye, Romney, where his asylum application was denied, then moving onto Kaluga, where they turned down his request as well. When he did stay in Kaluga, he managed to get his hands on a new compact camera, which he loves to use.

Contracting work
He flew to Sotoa, where he felt he was treated horribly by the natives, building up some resentment towards them before flying off and getting his asylum request denied once more, eventually landing in the Republic of Levant, and bothering that country with more paperwork in an effort to get legal protection. When he finally entered a Levantine Meyhane to kill some time, he was informed that the Emmerians in the North were hiring and that the contractors that flew missions there weren’t asked about their past. Feeling that flying with the Emmerian Air Force could help him make a living, wire money to his family and potentially start a new, better life there, the aristocrat-turned-illegal immigrant got into his Marut and flew to the cold North, jovially taking any job the Emmerians would give him.

Far yonder, on the other side of the tarmac, two rays of brown and blue danced a thrilling waltz. Alois could make out a row of dove-trees in a sea of Katsura and Oak and shifted his attention to the trees behind the forest clearing instead. Every now and again, the peak of a Parashorea Chinensis would rise through the vivid woodland’s leaves, standing at what he could only guess to be 250 feet. The sheer eternity of these trees shocked him – they had been planted, cared for and watered before his parents had even met, and, if the heavens willed it so, they would outlive him by decades, if not hundreds of years.
He scribbled a picture of one of the dove-trees in his notebook, using his stubby pencil and dried-up eraser to the best of his ability. Unfortunately for Alois, he wasn’t a fine artist, and his drawing of the tree looked more like a five-year-old’s rendition of a messy tumbleweed than anything else. He enjoyed getting familiar with the flora of Western Verusea, whose green laurel forests he learnt to appreciate more than the cities whence he had fled not too long ago. Anti-communist forces had maintained a steady march westward for a good while now, burning bridges and organizing last-ditch efforts to keep their countrymen at bay. Outmanoeuvred and outgunned, the forces loyal to the People’s Republic trampled over the resistance posed by reactionary elements quite easily, thus forcing the rebels to move ever farther East.
Their questionable actions in war and political concessions towards international powers, including the exploitation of Verusean resources by foreign firms, the influx of cheap foreign goods, including hard drugs, and the foundation of so-called treaty ports and legation quarters for Oseans, Belkans, Emmerians, Eruseans and Useans had made the former government quite unpopular, and many of the country’s citizens turned against their state, in favour of a new socialist order. Burckhardt, the product of the very measures that kickstarted this civil war, could not hope to find refuge amongst those who opposed his existence and was thus thrust into the ranks of the nationalists.

Alois squinted his eyes and finally recognized that what he first presumed to have been coloured spots were actually two men working on this rural airfield. Zhou Shuren and Fang Lingxin, two mechanics that had been hired to maintain the few military aircraft that still used this base regularly, had apparently gotten into a scuffle over some dispute – the boy tried to pay no mind to it – it wasn’t his business, and the local Verusean dialect that the men spoke was largely beyond his comprehension anyway. He closed his notebook and looked at the aeroplane, a HAL HF-24 Marut fighter-bomber donated by the Indus government to “oppose the spread of communism” – Even Alois, whose unstifled idealism and disconnect from most things Veruseans defined him, could recognize that this Indusian scheme was little more than an effort to destabilize their rivals in Verusea. It’s clear that the Republic of Indus chose not to invest too many resources into their adventurist interference abroad, as their materiel seems to be highly outdated, and, in some regards, extremely flawed and inept. Burckhardt valued his Marut dearly, whom he had lovingly called “Lamia”, a creature from the Kalugan myth he so enjoyed reading when he was a child.

Now, he waits by the airstrip, hoping he’ll get to take her out to bomb communists. With each passing day, Alois grows more and more restless, and the intoxicating excitement of warfare, as well as his naïve and coloured notions of combat itself, might come around to haunt him in a while.

Really sorry for staying inactive for so long- without getting into details RL work gets into ways, posts fail,to upload, etc. I have two minor questions:
1) Am I still allowed to take the A-G ace?
2) Am I allowed to RP Mig-19 and my pilots (Shpik) staying conscious in a 8G sustained turn? Basically she’ll be avoiding AAM, so I think such high loads are justified from a tactical standpoint, although I may be very wrong
