Tyrone Manningham was disappointed when his Sarzonian over-35 national football team came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat, even though it was an away match to Adab.

His team couldn't get any offence going against a team that conceded three goals and didn't dent the back of the net a single time in their previous outing. They also lost the possession battle to the home side.

"Dadgummit," he said, looking to vent his frustration at the team's missed opportunities in its defeat until an aide handed him a tablet. He looked at it, blinked for a second, then suddenly broke out into a grin.

Sure, the Senior Stars lost 1-0 to Adab, but the other Group A result saw Qasden defeat Garbelia 2-0. His smirk happened when he looked at the Group A tables. All four teams had the same record, 1-0-1, three points. All that separated the four teams was goal differential and head-to-head. Qasden held the advantage over Garbelia with their victory. Adab were ahead of the Senior Stars due to theirs. Garbelia were clear of Adab due to their victory. All four teams could make a case for being first in the Group A table.

"I'm sure the organisers are relieved they aren't sorting tiebreakers just yet," Manningham said with a chuckle. "Look at Group C."

Group C was even crazier. All four teams played two matches, and all four teams earned draws in each match. Organisers chose to sort the Group C table by alphabetical order rather than attempt to apply tiebreakers.

"I'm sure Zack would ask for migrane medication if he weren't in the dressing room right now," Manningham said, referring to Senior Stars starting forward Zack Wilson, who was also the Incorporated Football Federation Chairman. If Wilson weren't preoccupied with trying to find a way to overcome the offside trap Adab was working to perfection to frustrate him and Matt Lynch, he would likely have been dealing with the particulars of how to apply tiebreakers, especially in Group C. But since he was a player in this particular tournament, he left that detail to oraganisers who only came to him if the situation dictated it. And often, situations would not.

As for Groups B and D, both have one team that's currently head and shoulders above the others. In Group B, it was Kriegiersien, the only team on the medal stand for all three World Cups of Masters, who led the way at 2-0-0. They won silver in the first tournament, which was won by the host nation Senior Stars. They won the second, defeating the Stars in the final, then took third. As for Group D, it was newcomers Eshialand who held sway with a 2-0-0 mark after defeating Soldera 1-0 in their match. Defending runners up HUElavia were level with the Democratic Unionist Cool Kids in the tables and in their match the night before, drawing 1-1. That gave Los Armarillos the edge by goal differential (minus-1 to minus-2 for the other debutants.

Manningham closed his remarks with an ages-old curse.

"May you live in interesting times," he said, puncturing it with a laugh.

NEWS | WORLD CUP OF MASTERS IV

Remez shocks Sarzonia

Eliyahu Remez, the longtime lawyer of Adab national football team manager – and over-35 squad player-manager – Saad Kaykali, was the unexpected hero of the day, scoring the only goal of the match to secure a 1-0 victory in Group A of the World Cup of Masters against Sarzonia before a full-capacity crowd at the Adab City Stadium.

Remez had had no prior footballing experience before his inclusion in the Adab over-35 national team. His inclusion was publicly acknowledged as a gesture of thanks from Kaykali for Remez’ years of legal assistance, and it was generally expected that he would do little more than help the team in defense.

Yet it was Remez who would unexpectedly prove to be the key player of the match.

The match was actually rather well-balanced overall, with the Adabians constantly on the offense and setting offside traps but unable to break through the Sarzonian defense and struggling to respond to their counterattacks. The Sarzonians had a great chance at a goal in the 37th minute, but Zack Wilson’s strike went just a little too high, striking the crossbar and bouncing back onto the pitch. Another opportunity in the 43rd minute was wasted away as Wilson’s strike went straight to the hands of Adab keeper Mohammed Marramzi. On the other hand, the Adabians, although they began to dominate possession from the start of the second half onwards, squandered their own opportunity in the 48th minute, as Enlilbani Yargab’s right-footed kick from inside the penalty box went wide, ending up a good distance away from the goal.

Yargab, along with Mohammed Marramzi and Ephraim Orlev, are currently also playing in the Independents Association Championship, having played against Malandrin in that tournament just yesterday, and no doubt many would feel that their rather lackluster performance in this match is due to fatigue from shuttling back and forth between multiple countries for the two tournaments.

Adab’s moment would finally come in the 72th minute through the most unexpected scorer of them all. Exploiting an opening in the Sarzonian defense, Yargab surged forward, followed by a mass of other Adabian players as the Sarzonians rushed to form a wall before their net. In the midst of the chaos, Yargab kicked the ball backwards to Kaykali, who then sent the ball right between Jill Arians and Kenny Lagerwey inside the penalty box. Seemingly having anticipated the ball’s path, Remez made his way around and behind Arians and Lagerwey, greeting the ball as it rolled onto his foot and immediately firing it into the net to the cheers of the Adabian fans.

As the Sarzonians spent the rest of the match counterattacking, Adab switched to defensive mode and largely desisted from further attacks into the Sarzonian side of the pitch, instead focusing on maintaining possession and outrunning the opposing midfielders and forwards. This they did, and thus Remez’ goal became the only one of the match, securing a 1-0 triumph for Adab’s first victory in the tournament.

Kaykali praises his lawyer

At the post-match press conference, Kaykali was full of praise for his lawyer-turned-player. “Obviously Eliyahu’s inclusion in the squad was intended as a bit of fun, and also to show my appreciation for him for all that he has done for me,” the Adab over-35 player-manager said.

“But he has performed very well above all expectations throughout the course of this tournament, and of course in this match he scored the winner. It was unexpected, and that’s what made it all the more remarkable.

“It was a great goal and I’m happy for him.”

Kaykali also praised his Sarzonian opponents for their performance, calling them “great players” and a “solid squad”.

“It was a great match between our teams, and I think we both have shown to everyone that it’s not over after the age of 35,” Kaykali said. “Our performances were right on the money.”

The Leap For Revenge

Type: Game Review
Time: -

MATCHDAY 2 AND 3 FULL TIME RESULTS
Hundredstar 3 - 2 Atheara

Joel De Clare (60'), Crawford Upperton (85'), Kieran Blyfhs (90+2') / Gordon Bordanian (73'), Tomas Hulegreban (75')

Krigiersien 1 - 2 Atheara
Kai Alberz (23') / Walker Narestrite (43'), Kirdan Muronovitch (67')

"To rise back up, you need to at least get knocked down once." This was what Kristian Johansson said after the loss against Hundredstar. Gordon had scored a simple tap in, while Tomas showed what he was originally capable of, with a goal from a cornerkick. Hundredstar player Joel De Clare had originally give Hundredstar the lead with a freekick, and with that, Tomas, who was at defense, was booked for a yellow. Crawford Upperton had equalized on the 85th with a header from a corner that was cheaply given away. And Kieran Blyfhs had given Hundredstar the winning goal in stoppage time, with a freekick.

The game against Krigiersien was similar, in a way. Kai Alberz gave Krigiersien the lead with a very nice header from a cross in from the right wing. And before the first half ended, Walker had blasted the ball into the net to give the scoreline of 1 - 1. It was a game for all at this point. Atheara would take the dub as Kirdan had flawlessly scored a freekick on the 67th minute. There were a few yellows here and there, but that was all to it. Now, where are we?

We are first in the Group ahead of Krigiersien by head to head result. Tomorrow the team will properly rest and train to do their best for the rest of the Group stage. And i just hope we can win it all.

OOC: I decided to try and write my RP in my native language, Bahasa Indonesia.

HASIL WAKTU PENUH HARI PERTANDINGAN 2 DAN 3
Hundredstar 3 - 2 Atheara

Joel De Clare (60'), Crawford Upperton (85'), Kieran Blyfhs (90+2') / Gordon Bordanian (73'), Tomas Hulegreban (75')

Krigiersien 1 - 2 Atheara
Kai Alberz (23') / Walker Narestrite (43'), Kirdan Muronovitch (67')

The News Always Spreads
Eshialand 3-0 Democratic Unionist Cool Kids

Group D was a blessing in disguise for this Owls side. Why do I say that? Well, let's look at these groups. Group A is headed up by a 2-0-1 Sarzonian squad that's an absolute force to be reckoned with, along with Qasden, Adab, and Garbelia all hot on their heels. Group B is basically Kriegiersien vs. Atheara with Hundredstar still very much in the hunt, and Group C has Abanhfleft and Malandrin, both names that give any Eshian remotely familiar with soccer PTSD. Not exactly groups conducive to just having some fun with the sport, now are they?

Then there's Group D. A struggling HUElavian side that's playing nothing like the defending runners-up should, a newer nation on the soccer scene in Soldera, a month away (in Eshian time) from their Baptism of Fire, and the Democratic Unionist Cool Kids.

Speaking of the D.U.C.K., how was their match against Eshialand in the Tim Wilkins Stadium? Well...

The scoring started relatively early in this one, with Paul Racke making the score 1-0 for the home team in the 11th minute. Then, in the 39th, Kevin Sevare cracked the match wide open by practically tapping the ball past REDACTED to make it 2-0.

By the time Andrew Fynton made the score 3-0, it was the 82nd minute, and it didn't really matter anymore. Eshialand had already won again, becoming the only team to still be at 3-0-0 after the first half of the group stage. However, as the team went out for post-match drinks, something was about to happen that might ruin their fun forever...

RING!! RING!!

"Hello?"
"Hi, Josh? This is Marty Armisen."
"Oh, hi Marty! What's up?"
"Hey, that's my line!" he responded. Mr. Armisen worked for ENN as their traffic reporter, so he spent a fair bit of time reporting from the traffic-copter. "Anyway, I saw something strange over at the old Tim Wilkins Stadium you might wanna check out!"
"But that place hasn't been used in a year!"
"That's why it's so strange! So you don't know anything about it?"
"I'd probably be live on Tournament Report right now if I did!"
"Oh, and just a heads-up, I think I saw Kenny Morgan in a blue Owls kit, playing for what looks like an Eshian national team of some kind. Not sure who that other team was though."
"Thanks for the tip, Marty! See ya tomorrow!"
"Keep on chasing that scoop!"

So, Josh proceeded to search up the stadium to try and find something online, but relevant information was hard to come by. Eventually, he came across a Sarzonian website describing a so-called "World Cup of Masters"... and Eshialand was 3-0-0? What the heck? Whatever happened to the "dark ages of Eshian soccer"? Were these old-timers fixing the state of national soccer right under his nose?

He immediately stepped away from his computer, put on his shoes, and made his way to the ENN offices to report this... until he had a long thought about why this must be a secret... there must be a reason why the team didn't want anyone to know... so, he turned around and went back home. They clearly wanted to have fun, and he would never want to ruin that.

And so, the tournament continued on, without a hitch, going into Eshialand's next match against HUElavia.

Eshialand - 3 (Racke 11'; Sevare 39'; Fynton 82')
Democratic Unionist Cool Kids - 0
Anything I say is IC unless proven otherwise by a court of law.

What a difference a matchday makes.

After the Sarzonian over-35 national football team lost its match to World Cup of Masters debutants Adab to drop to last place solely by a limited set of tiebreakers since all four Group A sides were level on record and points, the Stars earned a victory in their second of three consecutive away matches with a 2-1 victory over Garbelia. Coupled with Qasden and Adab playing to a 2-2 draw, the Stars suddenly vaulted into first place at the halfway point of the group stage of the World Cup of Masters.

Forward Matt Lynch finally broke out of a slump to score both goals, including a deft assist by fellow forward Zack Wilson on his 23rd minute tally that recalled the days both players were on the regular national team and they were not Senior Stars, but Stars. Lynch gave Wilson a smirk as both men ran back to their positions for the Garbelian kickoff.

"I didn't think he had it in him," Lynch said jokingly. "I mean, he wears a suit all damn day and he goes and puts on a football kit for a kickabout. But yeah, that was a great assist and it put me in an easy position to get that goal." Lynch also buried a free kick in the 64th minute after Garbelia drew the score level in the 58th minute of play with a laser by forward Lutra Scratchington from just outside the 18-yard box that caught goalkeeper Will Brantley flat-footed.

"I didn't think he was going to try the shot from there with [defender Aiden] Yang marking him like that," Brantley said. "I didn't think he'd have an angle to shoot, but give him credit. He found the seam and I wasn't ready for it."

The result means the away rematch for Sarzonia against regional rivals Qasden will take on greater importance. Besides it being the last match for Sarzonia outside the friendly confines of Dave Wilson Stadium, it will be a match that could very well determine whether Sarzonia qualifies for the knockout rounds after being eliminated in the group phase during the most recent World Cup of Masters. Manager Tyrone Manningham said he was aware of the significance of the match, but tried to play down its importance.

"It's a match like any other we play," he said. "We only have six matches in this group stage; we had eight in the first edition. We really don't have a margin for error in any of the matches, so this one's as important as all of them."

Wilson, who also serves as the Incorporated Football Federation Chairman wouldn't address questions about Manningham's job security if the Senior Stars fail to qualify for the knockout stages in two consecutive World Cups of Masters after winning the first and losing the second to Kriegiersien.

"Right now, I'm here as a player. That's something for the Board of Governors to decide when the time comes," he said. "Will I have input now? Obviously, I would as IFF chairman, but I'd take my own thoughts with a grain of salt right now since I'm thinking as a player right now. When we've had some time to let the raw emotions of a tournament fade into the distance, we'll take the opportunity then when I can think about things with a more objective mindset."

A source familiar with Wilson's thinking said it would "likely be [Manningham's] call whether he stays." They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to release details of deliberations in the IFF.

"I'm pretty sure if Sarzonia qualify for the knockout rounds, it's up to Manningham," the source said. "If they win it, he definitely decides for himself if he wants to walk away."

NS World Cup of Masters IV took place in Nicksia and saw Barnabus Newmont give Hundredstar a 1-1 draw with The Jovannic in the third match yesterday. In the match, Newmont, the Darkclouds FC striker magnificent freekick in the 23rd minute to equalize player #11's goal early in the first half. "It's an extraordinary feeling. When I want to get on the pitch, I feel I can make an impact on the game, ”said Newmont, who scored his first goal today.

“We played with a variety of beats, as usual, to fight back, be brave, get the ball and grab the equalizer,” captain Phillip Belleville said. The result came after Atheara beat Kriegiersien 1-1 in Group B in the tournament's match. Hundredstar also had a chance to score the winning goal with the best chance coming from substitute Crawford Upperton but his effort went straight to the keeper in the 90' + 4'.

Hundredstarian coach Leo Artemis dropped the squad without Frederick Godfrey and Samuel Dennison due to injuries. Artemis also rested goalkeeper Tarquin Robshaw, and midfielder, Timothy Findlay.

The Inaugural Qasden National Team is back and better than ever at the fourth World Cup of Masters!

Since the team's transition from the faces of competitive football in the nation, the OldVans (stylized as "The Classics" for this tournament) had taken to their athletic retirements in strides. Some, like Macron Abbott and Ryan Xandreas, stayed at the top in the form of academy instructors, tasked with shaping Qasden's future stars of the sport; meanwhile others, such as the elderly Terry Foxtrot, decided to continue on in a laissez-faire sort of sense, using their post-careers to enjoy all they missed out beforehand. Things were great this way, and for an entire team's sudden departure, it was a comfortable conclusion to the nation's legacy-making crew spanning three and a half managerial eras.

But, of course, no story really ends forever.

With the revival of the World Cup of Masters, these elites were called back to serve their country on the pitch once again, donning old jerseys and challenging the ancients of foreign worlds. Last time, in the tournament's third showing, the Qads had made a deep run into the games, cruising out of the group stage for a respectable 0-1 finish in the octofinals to eventual champions, Delaclava. However, with the Delaclavs opting out of participating this time around, the Classics are ready to compete once again, determined more than ever to achieve an imminent victory rivalling the twin silvers. With the aid of an old part-time manager, Boulevard Drucati, the Vans are back in Sarzonia, eager as ever to kick butt!

The commitment to seal victory is increasingly evident for the Hundredstar team by successfully defeating Kriegiersien in the Group B match, NS World Cup of Masters IV. Even sweeter, it can be referred to as a revenge match as Kriegiersien had previously beaten Hundredstar 1-5, one of their biggest defeats at the international level.

Since the starting whistle was blown, Leo Artemis's men launched a streamlined attack into Kriegiersien's goal and in the time they attacked, Kriegiersien had a chance to score in the 12th minute by their player, Kai Alberz. The goal did not dampen Hundredstar's fighting spirit until the end of halftime. They almost equalized but Crawford Upperton's shot was saved by Kriegiersien goalkeeper in the 45 ' + 4' minute.

The sought-after goal came in the 51st minute when Carl Dandridge's corner was shot in by striker Barnabus Newmont. Hundredstar's winning goal came when Hannes-Noah Travemünder dropped Harris Lovett in the penalty box and Joel De Clare easily pushed in the ball from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. The latest Hundredstar topped Group B by 7 points with two wins, one draw, and one defeat

When contacted, the manager, Mr. Artemis said although he was happy with the victory he felt the struggle was still far away and they needed to do better if they wanted to go further.

Adab triumph over Garbelia in close-fought match

Adab’s World Cup of Masters campaign produced another win today under difficult circumstances, with the Adabians having to battle a sturdy Garbelia side to earn their three points.

A full house at the Adab City Stadium was there to cheer for the home side in their latest Group A encounter against Garbelia, but it was the visitors who gained the lead in the 18th minute, as Lutra Scratchington managed to deceive Adab keeper Mohammed Marramzi into going the wrong way, leaving the path open for Lutra’s close-range strike straight into the net.

Adab forward Enlilbani Yargab – on a break from his Independents Association Championship 13 campaign alongside Marramzi and Ephraim Orlev – danced around Garbelia keeper Otta Trootzon and slotted the ball home in the 25th minute to equalize, but Garbelia again retook the lead in the 36th minute thanks to Ottti Scratchington, converting a Otti Otta corner into an impressive curling shot that found the upper right corner of the net as Marramzi jumped the wrong way and missed the ball by quite the distance.

Yargab nearly scored again in the 48th minute, but his ball went straight to Trootzon’s chest and bounced back to the ground. Ephraim Orlev then rushed to the rescue and, before Trootzon could react, fired the ball past him and into the target. Garbelia missed a chance in the 54th minute, with Lutra Scratchington’s shot easily parried away by Marramzi, but they made good for it just a minute later, as Otti Otta’s daring attempt from just outside the penalty arc caught Marramzi by surprise, allowing him no time to react before the ball went in.

Though they had put up a valiant fight, the Garbelians began to look visibly tired as the match went on, and the Adabians exploited this to their advantage. Player-coach Yitzhak Bennett made an epic dash across the left wing from the halfway line in the 66th minute – with a speed defying his 57 years – before cutting into the penalty box. Bennett tricked Trootzon into thinking he would pass to the approaching Yargab, and as Trootzon advanced too far towards Yargab, Bennett slipped behind him and shot into the empty net.

The Garbelians missed another chance in the 75th minute, with Ottti Scratchington’s shot flying far above the net, and in the end the Adabians secured victory in the 80th minute as player-assistant manager Rashid Abbas simply ran the ball in off an Orlev corner, with Trootzon’s path to the ball blocked by the quick movement of Yargab and Bennett.

With this win, Adab sit securely in second place in Group A with seven points, beaten to the top only by Sarzonia with nine points. Qasden are third with four points and Garbelia last with three.

In the previous edition of the NS World Cup of Masters, the Sarzonian over-35 national team failed to qualify for the knockout rounds for the first time in the three-Cup history of this tournament. They watched with some sense of satisfaction as their southern neighbours Delaclava celebrated winning a title in their first-ever appearance.

Now? The Delaclavs opted not to send a team to defend their title, but the host nation for each of the now-four editions of the World Cup of Masters took a step toward returning to the knockout rounds with a 2-1 victory over regional rivals Qasden in their final match away from the friendly confines of Dave Wilson Stadium. The Senior Stars will face both Adam and Garbelia at the de facto national stadium for Sarzonian football.

Midfielder Ettore Salivani, Jr. scored the lone goal for the Senior Stars in the 18th minute as he found a seam through Qasden defenders Tex Preston and Dakota Rosden and struck the ball with authority past goalkeeper Macron Abbott. It was Salivani's first international goal since his playing days for the national team, and Salivani celebrated by pulling the bottom of his shirt over his head and running in a circle around the outside of the Qasden defensive perimetre. It was enough for the Banijan referee to issue him a yellow card for timewasting, though the referee admitted after the match the booking would have been for "taunting" if such a foul existed.

Forward Matt Lynch said the Banijan official was "humourless" before he caught a scowl from fellow forward Zack Wilson, who is also the Incorporated Football Federation chairman. Wilson said Lynch would draw a fine for the comments.

"Absolutely," he said. "That's something we're going to have to address when I have a chance to fully take on my role as chairman. RIght now as his teammate, I really can't at the moment."

The result, coupled with Adab's victory in a 5-3 slugfest over Garbelia, doesn't clinch a spot in the knockout rounds for the Senior Stars, who earned their third victory from four matches and sit atop the Group A table, but with Qasden at 1-1-2 with four points, it forces the regional rivals to win both matches against Garbelia and Adab and hope for help if they want to eliminate the Senior Stars. They're only one match behind Adab, so anything can still happen there.

Manager Tyrone Manningham said the result was "important" for the Senior Stars, but also added there was work left.

"We've seen in the past the group stage doesn't mean a whole lot in this tournament," he said. "Teams like Darmen and Abanhfleft have dominated group stages, only to fall in the knockouts, so we know there's a lot of work left to be done."

Punched Ticket
Eshialand 4-2 HUElavia

"Can I get one ticket to Eshialand vs. HUElavia please?"
"Sure you can!" The man behind the desk said, as he turned towards the ticket printer. "And don't worry about assigned seating, just sit wherever you'd like."
"Thanks!" Josh replied as he took the ticket. "I heard this team was pretty good?"
"Pretty good? That's a bit of an understatement. Just watch them, and you'll see what I mean. I hope you enjoy the match!"
"Thanks, you too!"

Josh Seametzle decided to come to the Tim Wilkins Stadium on this beautiful Saturday afternoon just because he was curious about this World Cup of Masters he had found on that Sarzonian website. He wanted to watch this team for himself, perhaps because he couldn't believe what the results were showing, or perhaps just as an escape from his everyday schedule. In any case, he was going to check this out.

He took a seat close to the the front row, and...

"Josh Seametzle?"

Being recognized made him jump, but who had just recognized him surprised him even more.

"Jake Harran??"

He had just sat down next to much of the Eshian national soccer team.

"What brings you here?"
"I just found out about this match, and I was just curious... I'm not reporting, I swear! Now, why are you here?"
"We were just here to cheer on our Coach, that's all! Have you heard much about how they've been doing?"
"Not really, I wanted to keep this as much of a surprise as I possibly could..." Yes, he was fudging the truth a little here, but there's a specific season why he was lying.
"Well, let me tell you a bit about it then..."

As the match went on, Jake kept telling Josh some interesting things about the team with this sheer enthusiasm that truly was second to none. He could tell that Jake really cared about his coach and this team, which was a truly delightful side of this player on this team that he had seen and reported on so much, but never had the chance to sit down and talk to...

During half-time, he got the chance to talk to more members of the national team, and they were all buzzing about this one fact: if their coach's could hold their 2-0 lead, they'd punch their ticket to the quarterfinals with two matches left to go, no matter the result in The Democratic Unionist Cool Kids vs. Soldera.

They did wind up holding that lead, both teams adding two goals in the second half, and as the final whistle blew, the two Eshian soccer teams united to celebrate together, as Josh simply walked away, out of the stadium, hearing this as he left...

"Hey Alice, this was a great idea, I'm having a blast playing again!"
"I'm glad you're having fun, and it's so great seeing you out there!"
"Oh yeah, Coach, I was talking to..." Jake turned around to see Josh walking away. "...Josh Seametzle... but I guess he left..."

The two teams continued, getting ever quieter as Josh got farther away. As nice as it was to see the national team, it wasn't his place to stick around and talk to them. They needed some time with their coach and his team, alone.

The Hundredstar World Cup Of Masters squad manager, Leo Artemis is the first foreign individual to be appointed as the national squad manager, whether in the main squad, masters, or U-21. Hundredstar FA chairman Herman Capes when announcing his name was reported to have said that Artemis was a lucky person to have been chosen. Leo Artemis, a native of Lathamford, started out as a professional player also not in his home country, he recorded a glorious history as a goalkeeper at Bayport Wharf FC, Oakwood Landing until he retired. Later appointed goalkeeper coach at the same club (Bayport Wharf FC). Three years later, Arkwin FC had invited him to become Assistant Head Coach, until they won the FA Cup that year. His coaching career took off when he was appointed Head Coach of the Draxninton Dragon FC team soon after. With Draxninton Dragon FC, he achieved a number of successes such as leading his club to the League Cup final and being runner-up in the Oakwood Premier League.

What many don’t know, Artemis holds a degree in Sports Psychology and Psychotherapy from Oakwood Landing Sports University, Cinderheaven.

FA Hundredstar sniffed his abilities and planned to take him on as national team Manager but got objections from some individuals in the FA, and when Hundredstar took part in the WORLD CUP OF MASTERS IV, then he continued to be selected as manager and given the mandate to lead the WCOM team. His performance at WCOM was also quite impressive, he managed to bring Hundredstar to the top of Group B for the time being with two wins, one draw, and one defeat. Although on paper he uses a 4-4-2 formation but, in the attacking phase, if observed, he always uses a 4-3-3 formation, focusing more on the inside winger and fast runs as well as cut in crossing into the opposition penalty box. In the first match, the testing of 4-3-3 formation made Hundredstar lose a big 1-5 to Kriegiersien, but he did not give up, and it was proven when a more positive result he could achieve in other matches.

The Table Preview

Type: Table Review
Time: -

Some qualification spots have been decided after this 5th matchday, and now i want to go an a slight analysis of every group table. To see who Atheara's opponents could be if Atheara does make it out of the Group stage alive. And yes, Atheara has not sealed qualifiction yet, as they still need to draw against Krigiersien, at least. However, full analysis will be at the Group B section.

Group A Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Adab 5 3 1 1 9 8 +1 10 Q
2 Sarzonia 5 3 0 2 5 4 +1 9
3 Garbelia 5 2 0 3 11 11 0 6
4 Qasden 5 1 1 3 7 9 -2 4 E

Adab have qualified with a 3-1-1 record as they are above Sarzonia and Garbelia. If Garbelia defeat Sarzonia, then Garbelia would qualify as they are ahead against Sarzonia on goals scored. Qasden are eliminated, as even if they win against Adab, that will not put them on either 1st or 2nd place. Meaning it's likely that the opponents from Group A would likely be either Adab and Garbelia/Sarzonia.

Group B Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Atheara 5 3 1 1 10 5 +5 10
2 Kriegiersien 5 2 1 2 9 6 +3 7
3 Hundredstar 5 2 1 2 8 12 -4 7
4 The Jovannic 5 0 3 2 2 6 -4 3 E

Atheara are 1-0-0 against Krigiersien, and that Atheara are 3 points ahead. And a 1-0-1 record against Hundredstar means that Krigiersien must go all in on Matchday 6. Worst case scenario is that Krigiersien beats Atheara with enough goals to take 1st place. If Jovannic loses to Hundredstar you would think Atheara will be out, but remember, Hundredstar needs to win huge, which is unlikely. So it might be safe to state that Atheara have clinched a qualification spot, technically. Only time will tell.

Group C Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Malandrin 5 2 2 1 10 7 +3 8
2 Abanhfleft 5 1 3 1 10 8 +2 6
3 The Togolese Republic 5 1 3 1 6 6 0 6
4 Raspotochje 5 1 2 2 7 12 -5 5

The mess that is Group C is very unclear. Every side can leap frog eachother at anytime. Especially Raspotochje. A win for certain sides will put possibly a haymaker in the Group stage. As all of these sides are unconfirmed, only Margaret will be able to decide on which sides go to Sarzonia, and which sides will be going back home. Though i have a feeling Abanhfleft will be dissapointed.

Group D Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Eshialand 5 4 0 1 10 5 +5 12 Q
2 Soldera 5 3 0 2 6 4 +2 9 Q

3 HUElavia 5 1 1 3 8 8 0 4
4 DU Cool Kids 5 1 1 3 4 11 -7 4

Meanwhile, we have two clear winners in Group D. Athearan rivals Eshialand, and Soldera will be representing Group D. No matter the results from their final matches, both sides will qualify. As HUElavia, and the Democratic Unionist Cool Kids will not be able to leap frog their positions for qualification. To be honest, that's all i have. Maybe i see you next time, maybe i don't.

A Bump in the Road
Soldera 2-0 Eshialand

Something just felt off during that match against Soldera, but the team couldn't figure out quite what. They knew it had to be something though.

That fact became apparent as soon as Soldera scored their first goal in the 17th minute, with a shot from striker REDACTED that had so much curve to it that it could fool anyone, and that included Monica Ashe-Reay.

Once left winger REDACTED made the score 2-0 in the 28th though, that's when it really started sticking out like a sore thumb. Something was seriously wrong here. This team just didn't seem to be playing their best anymore. Perhaps playing three straight matches at home made them soft, so they weren't ready to go on the road again?

Whatever the reason, the team didn't care too much. Andrew Fynton probably said it best later that night, when the team was sharing their customary post-match drinks: "The best time to start losing is when you don't need to win anymore!"

Spirits among the team members are still high as they travel to the Democratic Unionist Cool Kids for their final group stage match, a match whose only purpose is to determine quarterfinal seedings. That and having fun, of course.

Soldera - 2 (REDACTED 17'; REDACTED 28')
Eshialand - 0

The mood in the Dave Wilson Stadium dressing room was glum.

The Sarzonian over-35 national football team lost their second 1-0 match to Adab in two tries. As a result, the match against Garbelia at Dave Wilson Stadium now takes on major significance.

If Sarzonia win or draw against Garbelia, they punch their ticket to the knockout rounds. A Garbelia sends the Stars packing, and sources familiar with the Incorporated Football Federation Board of Governors deliberations suggest that a defeat in the final group stage match will end manager Tyrone Manningham's tenure with the Senior Stars.

Manningham said he was focusing on the team's next match against Garbelia.

"We just lost a match we felt we should have won," he said in a hushed tone and with a sombre expression. "Even a draw would have been better than this result," he said.

Sarzonia are ahead of Garbelia by three points in Group A with a 3-0-2 record to Garbelia's 2-0-3 mark, but while Sarzonia currently have a plus-one goal differential to Garbelia's even goal differential, Garbelia have scored 11 goals to Sarzonia's five. Thus, a victory would give Garbelia the total goals scored tiebreaker over the Stars. Adab are already through to the knockout rounds whilst Qasden are eliminated.

Zack Wilson, a forward and the Incorporated Football Federation chairman declined to address questions about Manningham's status after the match, saying he would address those questions "in due time.

"Right now, my focus is on being a player and on doing what I'm supposed to do as a player," Wilson said. "The time for us to evaluate the managerial situation is after this tournament is over. There will be a lot of things we're going to look at."

"We just weren't able to get anything going offensively," said forward Matt Lynch. "We did some good things with possession, but we weren't able to put the ball in the back of the net."

Group B also sees a three-way battle for two spots in the knockout rounds as Atheara lead the way with 10 points to seven for both Kriegiersien and Hundredstar. The Jovannic are eliminated.

Group C can best be described as a clusterfuck. Malandrin lead the way with a 2-2-1 record with sporting powerhouse Abanhfleft and The Togolese Republic hot on their heels with six points each. Raspotochje are also still in the mix for the knockout rounds with five points.

The only group without drama is Group D, in which Eshialand and Soldera have already qualified for the knockout rounds. The only question remains whether Eshialand or Soldera will win Group D.

For Manningham and company, however, their focus is on their match, although a victory coupled with an Adab defeat to Qasden would allow the Stars to win the group.

"Everything is predicated on what we do against Garbelia," Lynch said.

A Strong Finish
Democratic Unionist Cool Kids 0-2 Eshialand

Nobody expected the Owls to lose their final group stage match against the 1-1-3 DUCK. In fact, none of the results of the final group stage matchday were necessarily unexpected, except maybe Garbelia beating Sarzonia 2-0. These matches' implications on the quarterfinals, however? Now those are ridiculous.

Atheara defeating Kriegiersien and HUElavia's already-inevitable elimination ensured that neither of the previous edition's semifinalists who had come back for this one would even make the quarterfinals. The teams that did make it to the quarterfinals include three teams who made it there in WCoM III, none of whom have ever been to the semifinals, and five teams who had never even played in a WCoM before to begin with. Throw your WCoM history books out the window, we won't be needing them here.

It seems like the true story of the tournament has become a tale of Eshialand and Atheara, with these two rivals finishing as the first and second seeds with 5-0-1 and 4-1-1 records respectively, and tying for the highest goal differential out of all 16 teams, at +7 apiece, each side scoring 12 and allowing 5. If these two nations meet in the finals, a prospect which is far from out of the question, rest assured that it'll never be forgotten, for better or for worse.

Two other teams to watch closely are Adab and Hundredstar, one of whom will have the misfortune of being eliminated in Shipyard Stadium. If only both of these teams could make it to the semifinals...

But none of that matters here and now to the Owls. All that matters is making the forthcoming match against Raspotochje special, win or lose. They've had their fun, after all, so if it ends, it ends...

Democratic Unionist Cool Kids - 0
Eshialand - 2 (Barrington 53'; Morgan 70')

Sarzonia had one job. Win or draw and they would advance to the knockout rounds of the fourth edition of the World Cup of Masters.

However, they did neither. They lost 2-0 to Garbelia in front of a sold out crowd at Dave Wilson Stadium who greeted the over-35 national team with a loud round of boos as they trudged off the pitch, their fate to be eliminated at the group stage for the second consecutive time officially sealed.

Forward Zack Wilson, as Incorporated Football Federation Chairman, was asked about the status of manager Tyrone Manningham following the match. He demurred.

"Right now, I'm thinking like a player whose team just lost an important match," he said glumly. "Once I've had a chance to think about things and put on my chairmanship hat, when I can answer that question more objectively, I'll give you an answer. Right now, it's too raw."

Manningham was not available after the match. Assistant manager Jill Nelsen stepped up to the dais instead.

"What can I say but we shit the bed," she said. "We were disappointed in the effort we put out there. It's an embarrassment to the kit. I apologise on behalf of Tyrone and the entire Senior Stars side."

The fact that Manningham was not available for questions after the match will likely lead to a fine by the IFF, Wilson said.

"We require all managers to make themselves available for interviews after a match regardless of result," he said. "That is something we'll address with Tyrone when the time comes."

A spokeswoman for the IFF said the organisation has not made a final decision on Manningham's status, saying only that they were taking various factors into consideration.

"We will sit down with Mr. Manningham and go over the did-wells and the opportunities for improvement like we do after every tournament with every manager," Georgia Perino said. "We'll take every factor into consideration when we render a final verdict."

Lutra Scratchington opened the scoring for Garbelia in the 19th minute after a failed clearance attempt by Ettore Salivani, Jr., who could only watch helplessly as the ball sail over the head of Senior Stars goalkeeper Will Brantley, who was on one knee as the ball dented the back of the net. Brantley was subbed out for reserve keeper Joel A'Hearn.

"I pulled my hamstring," Brantley said of the reason he wasn't able to catch what he described as "a very catchable shot. Credit to Scratchington, though. He saw an opportunity and he took advantage."

With A'Hearn in the match and Brantley on the trainer's table, that left emergency keeper duties to reserve defender Dave Spencer, who was instructed to go into the dressing room to grab his goalkeeper's kit to be ready in the event A'Hearn were injured. However, the only injury the reserve keeper suffered was to his own ego as he gave up a soft goal in the 33rd minute to Oti Rivered that an in form Brantley "could have nabbed in his sleep," A'Hearn said.

Regardless of the nature of the goals, the fact remained that Sarzonia could not reply, and the tiebreakers eliminated the Senior Stars (3-0-3) from contention for the knockout rounds. Whatever the takeaway, the likelihood remains that the Senior Stars will most likely hear instruction from a new voice at the top when training begins for the fifth World Cup of Masters.

"That's still a decision that we're going to have to make and weigh the ramifications of," Wilson said. "I can't make that decision right now since I'm still thinking as a player who's bummed his team won't be advancing to the knockout rounds."

The True Story Of The Masters

Type: Review
Time: Matchday Break

The game against Krigiersien ended with a 2 - 0 win for Atheara, and Hundredstar did not mess up and also beat The Jovannic by the same scoreline. And now, the quarter finals have been thrown out of the window, in history terms. Neither of the previous editions semi finalists would be at the quarter finals. Three teams that made the quarters in the WCoM III made it again, but they never experienced the semi finals. And five teams never even participated or never got out of the group stage was now in the quarters.

But, fate now has plans. The true story of the tournament now is the "El Recentico" rivalry between Atheara and Eshialand. Many Athearans want an "El Recentico" final, and the Eshians that are keeping an eye on the tournament want it as well. Why the finals? It's because Eshialand and Atheara are in fact, the top 2 seeds, with a 5-0-1 and a 4-1-1 record respectively, and also are tied on highest goal differential, with 7 goals apart. The Eshians want to just have fun, and while Atheara do want the same, home still has some expectations of success.

If that is what they want, they will get what they want. But, here are the quarter final match ups, to see what can go right or wrong.

1. Eshialand v. 8. Raspotochje
Dave Wilson Stadium, Woodstock

2. Atheara v. 7. Soldera
Mike Sarzo Stadium, Nicksia

3. Adab v. 5. Hundredstar*
Shipyard Stadium, Wilmington

4. Abanhfleft v. 6. Garbelia*
Iron Bowl, Portland

*Matchup switched to avoid group stage rematch

Atheara will be facing Soldera in the Mike Sarzo Stadium in Nicksia. We do expect Atheara to be able to go through, unlike last time where Krigiersien killed us in Shipyard Stadium. Between Eshialand and Raspotochje, we just hope what happened to the womens team in the JRC won't happen again here. Adab vs Hundredstar is an interesting match up, as with Abanhfleft and Garbelia. Well i sure hope the Man from Markovsky is happy, actually, no reports from Abanhfleft. That's good news.

We hope for the best, and we fear the worst.
