The Kriegiersien Vollyeball League was rearranged once more, the winner stayed the same, the second was surprisingly a club loaded with Orcs from the Stolen Lands, a region in the far north.
Third came a team of All Stars Beach Volleyball players. Further unusual participants in the now professional, but still colorful league are the Youth National team with Kriegiersien Top Talents, the Southern Selection of players who are a Union from different Clubs and cities from South Kriegiersien, the Zombie Ballers from neighbouring Zombiestan, the players of the Ice Hockey Club Winter City Polarbears and the Women's current Olympiateam who are all now integrated in one team to train all time for international competitions together.

Litala ’93 - Volleyball Champions League 4

Volleyball is an extremely popular sport within Mytanija, particularly among women, with it enjoying the largest participation numbers for women out of any team sports. The MOF Top League is seen as the equivalent of football's Top League for Mytanar women, with wages not being significantly below those that footballers take home. The MOF Top League has been traditionally dominated by the sports' so-called 'big three': Olympic, Litala ’93 and OK Rauchnya. This represents quite a dramatic geographic spread of teams, with Olympic being based in Thessia, Litala ’93 in the capital Esca and OK Rauchnya in the region's second city Severyan. Due to the popularity of the sport there are teams throughout Mytanija, but only those three have ever managed to win a championship. Olympic and Litala ’93 split the first twelve seasons with 6 title apiece before OK Rauchnya burst onto the scene and since then it has pretty much always been a three-horse race for the Top League title. The three have fostered excellent youth systems for the sport, drawing the best talent from their local area and this means they consistently produce some of the nation's top volleyball stars. They often produce so many good players that some cannot actually get a game with the club's first team and therefore some women have had to leave the 'big three' clubs to leave to smaller teams in order to compete in the Top League.

In the past national team players have almost exclusively come from the 'big three' clubs, but in recent years that has changed and more teams now have a realistic chance at a league title. Atletik have developed a young team which has plenty of talent, whilst Avnalia Odbojka, Dinamo Esca and VK Magevskaya are following a similar trajectory. Akademija, the national academy team, is constantly producing new talent too and it means that they can be very competitive. Those players then move on to other teams once they reach the age of 22 at Akademija. It has made a for a more competitive league and that has led to greater investment, with television companies eager to pay for exclusive rights to show one of the strongest volleyball leagues. Greater foreign investment has only furthered this and it means that international stars are increasingly choosing to play volleyball in Mytanija due to the better wages on offer. The MOF are optimistic that a strong domestic game will only help the quality of the national team, something everybody can get behind as Mytanija look to build on the VWE 11 victory and Olympic gold with more success. Let's see what happened this season:

Breaking the stranglehold of Mytanar volleyball’s ‘big three’ has always been a tough task for the rest of the MOF Top League. In thirty seasons only those three have ever won the championship, with the rest left fighting over for scraps as the ‘best of the rest’ more often than not. In recent years the dominance of Olympic Thessia, Litala ’93 and OK Rauchnya has lessened ever so slightly, with other teams able to force them apart and ensure there would be other contenders. Pundits have predicted a first non-‘big three’ champion for a few years, though many thought it would be Atletik Thessia or Avnalia Odbojka given the former’s financial clout and intelligent squad-building and the latter’s exceptional youth system. In the end it was neither of those clubs, but instead the team from Esca’s Votavova neighbourhood, Dinamo.

Dinamo are a famous sports club in Mytanija, they are well respected for developing good teams in football, basketball and handball and their left-wing support create some of the most impressive choreographies in the country. In recent years their volleyball section has been improving rapidly under the tutelage of Peruna Zivic. A former Dinamo player, she has been in charge since the 27/28 season when the club were promoted from the Druga Liga, bouncing straight back to the top tier after relegation the previous season. Since then Zivic’s team have shown progress each season, surviving relatively comfortably despite finishing 13th (only one spot above the relegation places) in the 28/29 campaign; they then jumped all the way up to 3rd in the 29/30 campaign after combining their talented youngsters with some wily veterans signed at the end of their contracts with other teams. This year they made another jump, to MOF Top League champions, whilst only losing eight matches all year.

Zivic has been a truly transformative coach for them and she’s only been there for four seasons. It was her decision to cleverly combine the club’s self-produced starlets – the likes of Marija Georgijevic, Zeljana Kuzmanovic and Anica Simic – with more experienced players from other clubs like Ruzica Gavrilovic and Hasija Susic, signed when their contracts had expired from Litala ’93 and Olympic respectively. It has worked well and Dinamo’s young players have received just rewards for their performances with all three playing a part in Mytanija’s run to Olympic gold, though all three are awaiting a call-up to the senior national team. However that is perhaps what makes Dinamo’s championship win so impressive. They have done it without any bona fide stars. They don’t have a single national team player in their squad, even if they have some who have figured in the past and some that surely will in the future. This is a triumph of the collective. Zivic’s intelligent system has allowed these players to win out against the Mira Gushtanovas, Soo-Gyeong Yangs and Nyagũthiĩ Wanjirsdóttirs. Whether it will lead to more sides from outside the traditional ‘big three’ winning MOF Top League championships remains to be seen, but it is a fantastic development for the competitiveness of the league and shows that the strength in depth of Mytanar volleyball is arguably second-to-none at present.

Litala ’93 were last season’s champions and they managed to secure a Volleyball Champions League spot through the strength of their own league position rather than just getting there by virtue of being last season’s VCL winners. They will be disappointed in not being able to win three-in-a-row, their team is full of serial winners like the aforementioned Gushtanova, but also Zuzana Brajdic, Dobrila Pavlovic and Natasa Radic. Radina Ristic is their coach too and she has a history of winning both at club level and with the national team. Second isn’t good enough for her, but they will get the opportunity to defend their VCL title and that would be well received if they can manage it.

The two Thessian clubs finished 3rd and 4th, Atletik keep knocking on the door and with their young core you feel they aren’t too far away from winning a title. They finished only six wins down on Dinamo and although they will have been very pleased for a club they share an enormous friendship with they will feel that that is a gap which can be closed, it isn’t insurmountable. Olympic will be wondering what has gone wrong a little, they’re the most successful club in Mytanar volleyball and they’re in a similar position to Litala ’93 in that only success is good enough. You can be sure they will be investigating this season’s disappointment to try and put it right for next season.

NK Thessia finished 8th last season but they dropped down to 14th and will be playing Druga Liga volleyball next term, a really disappointing campaign for them as Crvena Zvezda pipped them to that final position of safety. Ribari and Padina were both always fighting an uphill battle, Padina were only promoted last season and Ribari finished 13th on their tiny budget. They will be joining NK Thessia in the second tier next year.

NK Dyka manage to go back to the Top League at the first opportunity finishing five wins ahead of their nearest rival and being pretty dominant in the vast majority of games with by far the most impressive set average in the Druga Liga. NK Istina end a two year gap between top division seasons for them by finishing in second, whilst Eskobirsk join NK Dyka in bouncing straight back after sneaking into third place.

Banija Women's Volleyball

There are two professional women's volleyball leagues in Banija. Due to legal fights with one another, teams do not compete across leagues as both claim top status. Each league sends their champion to the VCL. The multiple league thing is not uncommon in Banijan sport, as famously, Banija has 3 national men's basketball leagues who claim DI status.

The first league is the Banija Elite Volleyball League, which is located within the Moravica and Kitara Regions, all on the West Coast. This league is widely considered the stronger of the two leagues. The league consists of 8 teams from the Moravica Region, and 4 from the Kitara Region. This league consists of a strict quadruple round robin- each team plays each other 4 times(twice home, twice away) for a total of 44 games. There are no playoffs- the league champion simply is the team that leads at the end of the season.

Team Locations
Herzegovina Phoenix- Connected with the S-FPL club of the same name. Located in Vdizi, Moravica, just south of Herzegovina City.
North Herzegovina City Rams- located in the northern portion of Herzegovina City, Moravica.
West Beach Gorillas- located in the western portion of Herzegovina City, Moravica.
Iziarad Skyhawks- located in Iziarad, Moravica, a suburb of Istria.
Wakiso Grizzlies- located in Wakiso District, Istria, Moravica..
Rukunbi Dragons- located in Rukunbi, Istria, Moravica.
South Istria Hawks- located in Downtown Istria, Moravica.

Kitara Athletic Association- Same club as the former IFCF Champions League winners in the S-FPL. Located in Sisonke, Kitara.
Busembe Terriers- Located in Busembe, Kitara.
Kitara Athletic Society- Same club as the team in Banija's regional soccer leagues. Located in Kiala, Kitara.
Sisonke Pistons- Located in Sisonke, Kitara.

The BEVL is a round robin, and there is a purity in that. "One true champion"- no divisions, no conferences, no playoffs- everybody plays everybody an equal amount of times. And the Pistons were the beneficiaries of this. They were able to pull away in what was an incredibly tight title race. Even at Matchday 31, there were 6 teams in the league within 2 games of first place, with the Pistons sharing first place with the West Beach Gorillas. But here's how the Pistons pulled away. On Matchday 36, they lost a tight one to crosstown rivals Kitara A.A. That left them tied for first place in the league.

They then went on a dominant run- winning 6 of their next 7, with the last win in that run netting them a championship. It was a stretch where they were just one step ahead of everybody else. Strategically, athletically, etc... They were in a stretch where the squad simply could not be stopped. And on the penultimate day of the season, in front of a baying crowd, they won the league title on their home floor. The league showed its competitiveness and depth this season, with fifth place being separated from second place by just one game, but the Pistons were clear and deserved winners.

Expect the Istria sides to try and improve next year. Four teams from Metro Istria- and none finish in the top two. It's stunning, really. Should be some entertaining seasons to come from the BEVL.

The second league, for sponsorship reasons, is known as the Orange Sky Volleyball Championships, which consists of 16 teams from elsewhere across the country, outside of the Moravica and Kitara Regions. They are divided into two 8 team conferences. Each conference plays a quadruple round robin. The top two teams in each conference make the playoffs, as well as the next two best teams overall, for 6 total playoff participants. They are sponsored, of course, by Banija's major national airline, Orange Sky.

In the playoff round, the six teams are grouped together for a double round robin(10 games). The top two at the end of the double round robin will advance to the Orange Sky Final Series, which is a best of 5 series. There are two twists in this final round, however. Both conference champions are given a 3 point bonus for this series for the final table. And furthermore, a conference championship is the first tiebreaker.

In this round, the bonus points for the conference champions were not needed, as both would've finished top two regardless. The Kraken, who have been the darlings of the season, continued their hot show of form. The nation's only ethnic club, the Kraken have turned that into a strength, rather than a weakness. They've got a killer home court advantage, and with a host of young, talented players, this is a team that has shown the ability to do some serious damage. On the flipside, Duntho Sporting Club was successful, as one of a few clubs that marshals resources garnered from other sports(specifically soccer), and invests it into this sport.

A series that went the distance. A series that featured key road wins for both teams- 3 of the 5 games in this series were won by the visiting. The Kraken took Game 1 at home, in front of a raucous crowd. However, Duntho Sporting Club did not stay intimidated for long. They swiped Game 2, in a game that went the distance, to take home court advantage back to Hangaza. Many thought that they could ride their home court advantage to a title, and they almost did so. A hard-earned Game 3 victory made Game 4 a potential championship clincher on their home floor.

But the Kraken had other ideas. They put together what some probably call their best game of the season. In a must-win elimination game, on the road, the Kraken came through in dominant fashion. They were the crisper and more energetic side, and won the game in straight sets- always seeming to get the key points at the crucial moments. And they took it back to the nation's capitol for Game 5. After winning the first set, many thought they were on the verge. But they were not- Duntho Sporting Club brought it to them. They kept the crowd on their heels, and won three sets in a row to capture the title.

Duntho poured onto the court after their win to a silent stadium, as the celebrations went off back home. Duntho held a parade for the volleyball team when they got back home to Hangaza. A hard earned title. Can they build on it- or will the big city clubs in the league(Jinja City, Hoima, Busukuma) come for them? A note that Duntho is the smallest city in the league. Duntho, however, is a notoriously tight-knit and rabid sporting community, so in a league where television rights don't matter all that much, it's not necessarily a detriment. But it's quite possible, as Banijan clubs go to the VCL, that many of their best players get swiped by big city teams in Banija.

Who cares about that now, though? Duntho Sporting Club are the winners of the Orange Sky Volleyball Championships. League Champions, VCL participants. Doesn't get better than this, does it?

Women's Beach Volleyball
In women's beach volleyball, Banija is fortunate enough to have two pairs of Olympic gold winning teams from the XIV and XV Summer Olympiads.

For the first spot and top seeded Banijan berth to the WBVC, the pair from the Istria Games took on the pair from the Bunjil games, for automatic qualification to the WBVC. This was a best of 3 series, all taking place in Istria.

For the second spot, the team of Joma Badijye and Kunda Kama automatically qualified to the quarterfinals of the WBVC Qualification tournament. Hundreds of teams entered, and for months, at beach volleyball courts all across the countries, pairs of Banijan women played for the opportunity to enter the prestigious World Beach Volleyball Championships. 7 more teams qualified to join the Istria gold medalists for Banija's second berth to the WBVCs. Seeding, of course, was based on advanced analytical formulas as calculated by the Olympic Committee of Banija.

The quarterfinal rounds are best of 3, while the final round is best of 5. All games from the quarterfinals round on are played in Istria.

This sets up an entertaining final. On one hand, we have the favorites, the gold medalists from the XIV Summer Olympiad on home soil- Joma Badijye and Kunda Kama. They've been playing together for a long time, and although they are up there in age (both at age 34), they have a skill level that is uncommonly high in this country for this sport. The wily veterans are well-conditioned for their age, and seemingly do not feel pressure.

But they are being challenged by the youngsters. Fantaye Goliad and Selam Eyasu have burst onto the volleyball scene in Banija. They are the opposite of the favorites in almost every way. The two youngsters are 23 and 24 years of age, respectively. And they have taken quite the route to get here. They go to one of Banija's larger universities- but in name only. While they are both Loyola University grads, they did not go to main campus in Istria. Both are graduates of Loyola-Jinja, the regional campus in the northern Hangaza city. And even then, they have totally different backgrounds.

Goliad is a rich girl from Busukuma. With her father a banker turned member of the Lukiiko(Parliament), she's been privileged basically her life. Goliad has been to volleyball camps abroad, especially in Quebec, and elsewhere throughout the Quebecois Commonwealth. Goliad has played in indoor and beach tournaments all her life, with a variety of partners. But she did not find one until she met basically the polar opposite of herself at college. Fellow Loyola-Jinja alumnus Selam Eyasu had basically the opposite upbringing. She grew up poor, in an urban slum in Jinja City.

Eyasu's first love was basketball, but her middle school cut the women's basketball team at age 12, so she switched to volleyball. And immediately fell in love. SHe loved beach volleyball, and even though she's from an inland city, she played plenty of times on the beach at the Jinja River. She played in plenty of league's in Banija's second largest city, and was known as a scrapper and insanely hard worker. When they started entering tournaments together a few years back, her game was strong, and she had potential- but she was raw. Crazy athletic, but lacked discipline. But with some coaching from the Goliad family resourdces, Eyasu refined her game and became elite.

Can the young upstarts pull off what would be a stunning upset? Or will the oldheads prove that they are still dominant in country?

In a surprisingly close final series, that went all the way down to the wire, Joma Badijye & Kunda Kama showed the grit and desire characteristic of them, and why they were able to succeed at the XIV Summer Olympiad- and parlay that success into an entry to the World Beach Volleyball Championships.

The veteran pair won the first game in straight sets, and many thought after that Game 1 showing, that the pair could simply sweep the challengers aside and earn a second consecutive title. But that did not happen. IN Games 2 and 3, the Loyola-Jinja grads turned the series on its head. With those two ladies showing more energy, both of those games went the distance, to three sets. The veteran pair wore down as those two games went on, and the Loyola-Jinja pair looked as if they had found the formula for an upset. Take the game the distance, make them work, wear them down, and then go for the kill.

But Joma Badijye and Kunda Kama were able to compete, even with their backs against the wall. While both sets were extremely close, they won in straight sets in Game 4 to force a winner take all, do or die Game 5. When this one went into the fifth set, many thought that the veteran pair would wear down once again, as they did in Games 2 and 3, when it was clear that they were exhausted to the point of not being able to compete. But this was set 3, to qualify for the WBVCs. They dug deep- they had to do so. They used every last bit of energy to try and outlast their younger and fitter opponents. And they did so, scoring a 15-12 victory.

They talked about their age in the post-match interviews. "I'm just gonna sit in a tub full of ice after this." Kunda Kama told reporters. "Hey, we aren't old- just because we're 34 doesn't mean we don't still got it. But boy, am I excited about the future of women's volleyball. These two threw everything they had at us, and there will certainly be an opportunity for them to have more success in the future." They will be the second seeds for the tournament, as the Bunjil pair of Yobachukwu Jideofor/Halim Belonwu will be Banija's first seeds for the WBVCs.

V-Liga Season I

Volleyball has long been one of the most popular recreational sports in Siovanija & Teusland, especially amongst women. It is one of the few sports in this country that see a thriving collegiate athletic scene - with many recreational clubs at universities such as powerhouse TU Stelburg or the University of Borograd deciding to begin amateur play. However, there had been no professional league, with the sport limited to the amateur clubs often found particularly in Siovanijan sporting organizations like Olympia Borograd or SK Sparta.

When the women's volleyball team made its Olympic debut several years ago, no-one could have predicted the instant success the amateurs would achieve. They advanced to the semifinals of that tournament, and have since maintained a high ranking in the World Volleyball Expo as well, ranking amongst the top 10 nations of the world and reaching several Quarterfinal stages. That led to thinking amongst the team's stars, particularly Sophie Lanner, the team captain, as well as Heidi Jelenko. Why should we not also have the opportunity to play professionally? The best foreign players do, and within our own nation, competitive sports leagues exist in ice hockey and soccer for women. Led by the players, the Siovanija & Teusland Volleyball Federation backed the founding of the V-Liga for its first season. The league would involve 6 teams to start - with the possibility of adding more in the future. The majority of teams are sponsored by those athletic clubs, with some being new.

SV Edelweiss Stelburg look to be the dominant Teus program. TU Stelburg is the heart of Teus volleyball and has been for many years - it is the nation's only university really known for its sporting excellence, also winning a world football title at that level. The Edelweiss Sporting Club is well-known throughout Teusland as a promoter of youth sports, and with the backing of many of the TU Stelburg program's leading figures - including coach Lukas Keller and star player Sophie Lanner - the team looks to be very competitive to start the first season, with 5 national team players in its roster.

In Siovanija, Olympia Borograd and SK Sparta appear to have the best odds of stopping Stelburg. Everyone knows Olympia - the nation's oldest and largest sports union, covering everything from gymnastics to hockey to basketball to volleyball. There's a mix between professional and amateur programs, and for the first time now the volleyball program will go professional. Heidi Jelenko of the national team is on the roster, as is Evelina Strnisa. Siovanija has been the leading producer, arguably, of talent in this sport outside of the Stelburg circle - and SK Sparta gets 2 national team players of its own. Sparta is another multi-sport club in Borograd, which was founded to 'advance the spirit of the Siovanijan Revolution through athletics.' Famously, the club had one of the best football sides of the pre-war era, but after leagues in Siovanija & Teusland became professional, they dropped out, feeling amateurism key to their principles. Nowadays, however, times have changed and the club have embraced some form of professionalism in its leading sports. Sparta could have a shot at taking the first title this year.

The St. Jakob Stars are the other Teus representative in the league - and the only one not backed by a sporting organization. Instead national team player Melissa Franz, who herself hails from St. Jakob, took the lead on creating this club, attracting investors to sponsor the team and support its rise. Another St. Jakobite national teamer, Monika Vogel, will be on the team - and while the Stars aren't quite expecting to compete at the very top this year, they have a very enthralling story and could capture the hearts of fans - they are the underdogs up against the established powers.

Siovanija provides two other teams to the competition - Energija Chernovets and Zvezda Vlaikograd. Energija is Chernovets' largest multi-sport club, famous for its football side which has won several regional championships as well as the Republikaliga. But the multi-sport side of things has often been lacking, with many feeling the other fields are not given attention by the Energija board - they hope that the V-Liga can be a symbol of their success, however, they have been unable to attract any national team players to their ranks. Zvezda Vlaikograd are not nominally a multi-sport club, competing only in football for much of their history. The club has a long tradition, however, of supporting women's sport, and entered a deal with the league to establish a team in Vlaikograd and give it the 'Zvezda' moniker and allow it use of the club's logo and colours. They have also failed to attract any national team talent, but are hopeful that their young team can find some success.

# V-Liga Pld W L PF PA PD Pts
1 SV Edelweiss Stelburg 50 41 9 132 67 +65 123 Final
2 SK Sparta 50 31 19 120 91 +29 93 Semifinal
3 Olympia Borograd 50 31 19 115 94 +21 93

4 St. Jakob Stars 50 20 30 93 112 −19 60
5 Energija Chernovets 50 17 33 84 116 −32 51
6 Zvezda Vlaikograd 50 10 40 71 135 −64 30

And an excellent first season! SV Edelweiss Stelburg were the class of the field, with an incredible 41-9 record across the season, Sophie Lanner leading the way as clearly the best player in the league. SK Sparta and Olympia Borograd finished exactly tied with records of 31-19, both finishing 10 games back of Edelweiss. However, one of those teams will get a chance to defeat the Edelweiss and take the championship. The V-Liga title will be decided after a playoff, with the 2nd and 3rd placed teams facing off at the 2nd-place team's home before a Grand Final at the home arena of SV Edelweiss Stelburg.

The Stars, Chernovets and Zvezda each finished with records below .500, not quite performing up to some early-season expectations - however, they can only grow stronger from this, particularly for Chernovets and Zvezda who each fielded young squads knowing that perhaps competing with the major national team players may have been too much to ask.

V-Liga Playoff Semifinal

SK Sparta 25 25 27
Olympia Borograd 13 22 25

And in this battle of cross-town rivals, it's SK Sparta who come out on top! They defeated Olympia Borograd in a commanding 3-set victory, shocking the Greens with a 12-point win in the first set. The third set saw an epic late rally as Olympia recovered from down 7 to force the continuation of the contest, but Sparta would quickly take over and win it 27-25. The result qualifies them both for the VCL, an international competition, and gives them the chance to take on the Edelweiss in the championship final. Speaking of...

V-Liga Championship

SV Edelweiss Stelburg 23 26 18 25 9
SK Sparta 25 24 25 17 15

An incredible final! SK Sparta rolled into Stelburg feeling confident in their chances against the Edelweiss, and they put their money where their mouth was right away in set 1, jumping to a 15-3 lead. Stelburg would rally back, but Sparta hung on to take the win. Stelburg were more prepared for the second set, themselves building an 8-point lead right away, but this time it was Sparta playing the underdog with a recovery that just fell short. The third set was relatively dominant for Sparta, and the fourth likewise for Stelburg, neither side letting the other get too much of a feeling they would be winning tonight. But in the final, decisive set, it was Sparta who handled the pressure best of all, and Silvia Luzar who slammed down the winning point. A feel-good story for the league, with SK Sparta taking the championship and handing a relatively stacked SV Edelweiss Stelburg team a defeat that will be one they will look to take motivation from for next season.

The STVF will also submit its clubs and national teams to international competition. There is no national domestic beach volleyball competition, as the climate of Siovanija & Teusland is not conducive to the sport for much of the year, meaning it lags behind its indoor counterpart in popularity. There has been talk of future competition, however, for now there is none. Siovanija & Teusland's qualifiers are thus as follows:

Bollonischian Volleyball League

Volleyball is a sport that’s rapidly growing in stature in Bollonich. With international and domestic success, people have received more exposure to volleyball which has naturally resulted in a rise of popularity. With the hosting of the 13th Volleyball World Expo right here in Bollonich, TV viewership for volleyball games and tickets for the same have skyrocketed. The Bollonischian Volleyball League due to how its structured is often very difficult to predict. There are some consistently top tier teams, however with how fierce competition is, qualification to international competitions is no guarantee. Volleyball players in stature earn similarly to Handball players as the development and rise of these two sports has been closely linked to each other. In the BVL’s one season long history we saw a rather commanding performance from Vreton Bulls as they looked rather unchallenged at the top. Joining them in the VCL spots was the Karvian Tigers who were very much under threat from the Akusha Rovers and San Pablo Rockers who were just one win away from securing an equal number of wins. The other sides were as well not too far away. This doesn’t give us a conclusive image of what to expect due to the youth and foreign influx of players in the BVL. While these franchises themselves don’t have youth systems, they are known to systematically pick up players from youth clubs to play at the highest level. Bollonischian Volleyball, before the formation of the BVL and the Union was a very disorganised sport with mostly amateur teams. Teams based mainly regionally whose main focus was on keeping themselves afloat. These clubs however were some of the best youth systems in the entire sport in Bollonich and are naturally the largest sellers to the BVL.

The league was recently opened up to foreign investments following the success of the national team and the clubs at the international stage. The inclusion of foreign internationals will not only further the brand of the Bollonischian Volleyball League and its teams and owner which is the main goal of its investors, it will also serve as a magnet attracting attention from all over the multiverse meaning lucrative TV deals and coverage. Such moves will not only improve the financial position of the league but also put Bollonischian teams in strong positions to compete for international domestic titles such as the BVL. A perfect example of this is the signing of Quebecois wonder kid Jin Chang-Wook. Chang-Wook is a young Quebecois setter we’ve all come to know from the tight and entertaining matches that our very own side had against the Quebecois national team in the World League final and the Olympics semifinals. Jin Chang-Wook was not only featured both of those games for the Quebecois but greatly stood out for a young player amongst some of our most experienced and talented players. As soon as he made it clear he would be looking for a team to go to, it was no surprise that teams grovelling at his feet. They knew the talent this one player possessed and how much of a difference it could make for their teams. Even Bollonischian teams rightfully expressed interest as currently Bollonich stands out as among some of the best destinations for male volleyball players. Vreton Bulls was naturally the best choice for Chang-Wook as apart from all the other reasons to join the Bulls, they are a championship contending team. A team that’s known to have the capability and Chang-Wook will aim to help them realise this capability. Jin Chang-Wook is by far among the most popular sportsmen in Quebec and Shingoryeo and this provides yet another aspect or view to this move. A top tier league like the BVL is inevitably popular in the volleyball fanatic nation of Quebec and Shingoryeo however the signing of Jin Chang-Wook the Olympics MVP has definitely boosted the overall popularity of the BVL in Quebec and Shingoryeo. It is also clear to everyone just how rare contracts such as Chang-Wook’s with Vreton Bulls are with the deal extending for an unfathomable 5 years.
Other prominent international signings include the signing of Arlo Byter to the Kings of Fermont. Byter is an experienced Ardengardian setter who more than displayed his talent at the Volleyball World Expo here in Bollonich. Multiple high profile members of the selection squads of the franchises made their way to view these matches often seeing players who could be good fits for their teams. And that’s exactly how Byter ended up in the Kings of Fermont.

The BVL, contrary to most leagues around the world has no fixed heirarchy. And this constant state of flux is the. Most attractive feature about a franchise systemic league. The Vreton Bulls however were looking to maybe change this. They followed up their first place finish last season in the table with yet another magnificent display bagging first place on the table with the help of star signing Jin Chang-Wook. The Bulls however were tightly contested by the Rovers who were also equally eager to notch up some silverware. The summer window was rather uneventful for the Rovers, but they didn’t need to make many changes as they knew from the previous season that they certainly had what it took. Akusha Rovers showed this on the very first matchday against Vreton Bulls as they took a much better team than them on paper to five sets eventually defeating them. This was the first sign that maybe Vreton Bulls couldn’t live up to expectations this season, following a rather mediocre display from most players. Fans were also worried about Chang-Wook settling down and from what was visible he clearly hadn’t yet. Akusha Rovers meanwhile looked stronger than ever in this victory. Worrying signs for the Karvian Tigers also propped up as they lost to a seemingly uncompetitive Torrijas Wizards team. For a team having international experience this was a shameful display and rightly raised some eyebrows. The Rovers carried forward their spiking hot form from their victory over the Bulls back home where they overcame strong opposition to record yet another victory, this time over the Tigers. Having defeated both sides that made it to the VCL last cycle, they were looking to be serious contenders for the title. The Bulls following their loss against the Rovers bounced back well heading into their MD3 showdown against the Tigers. Playing at home the Tigers shut down their critics as they put up a dominant display defeating the Bulls 3 sets to none. This was yet another set back in the Vreton Bulls’ bid for reclaiming their title once again. The two title favourites were already two wins behind table leaders Maihar Lions and Akusha Rovers, one of whom looked strong as ever. A near perfect performance from the Bulls and Tigers for the next 6 matches did nothing to close down to the gap between themselves and the Rovers as they still trailed the Rovers by 2 wins, two wins they would desperately need to make up to stay in contention. The Maihar Lions who were atop following the first three match days were pulled down back from heaven as they had lost three out of their next six games. The Bulls however were not ready to let the Rovers run away with it yet and this showed in another thrilling encounter between both teams on MD10 which was eventually won by the Bulls. This put them in direct contention with the Rovers as another loss by the Rovers would put both sides level on points. The Tigers who were looking strong prior to this encounter suffered yet another setback at the hands of the Wizards who repeated the same shenanigans they performed on the first matchday to record a 3-2 set victory over the Tigers. This set the Tigers back in the competition of catching up to the top teams such as the Rovers and the Bulls. With this three way battle looking better than ever the league was at its most intense stage. The Rovers would now face off against the Tigers who had been given an opportunity to right their wrongs and make crucial headway on the advantage that the Rovers already possessed. This also propelled the Vreton Bulls up top as these consecutive losses for the Rovers significantly set them back. This three horse race had gotten even more interesting as some teams started to do something we expected them of being unable to do. The Kings of Fermont with their new signing Byter were now in fifth position with a good chance at competing for some of the top positions. The struggles for the Akusha Rovers continued into the 12th matchday as they suffered yet another defeat this time at the hands of Kings of Fermont. This propelled the Kings in fourth and a decent position to compete for a possible VCL spot. The Maihar Lions also rose in places with a win following the drops experienced by the Rovers and the Tigers. The Tigers, facing the Bulls away from home were very clearly the underdogs. Th performance put up by them however could be compared to that of novices as the Bulls completely dominated them providing them with no opportunity comfortably defeating their biggest rivals for the second time this season. This also meant that the Bulls had done what they had set out to do and were now in first position clear of everyone else and only had to hold onto this which should be minimal work for them. The Bulls however slipped up in the very next game against the Marda Frogs which cost them a vital win and points. The Lions carried on their charge for a VCL qualification spot which didn’t seem likely at first but they look to be in a rather comfortable position. The Akusha Rovers’ losing run carried on as they suffered yet another close defeat this time at the hands of the Yetis. This had truly been a horrific run for the Rovers as they went from an 8-1 win loss record to 8-5 in the matter of four games. The upside of Vreton Bulls’ loss was that they were still in striking distance due to this meaning the title fight was far from over. Another team that had made massive amount of headway into the title fight were the Kings of Fermont whose victory over the Karvian Tigers didn’t only set the Tigers back by a lot but also propelled them into a very competitive position. A position they would hold onto. The Bulls managed to keep their winning run going against the Kings of Fermont preventing further headway by the team, also giving the Rovers and Tigers an opportunity to catch up. The Lions despite looking as contenders at one state seemed to be far off the quality suffering an embarrassing defeat to the Rovers. The Vreton Bulls and Rovers kept a very clean record for the upcoming encounters. The Bulls won all of their games except the one game against The Yetis on MD16 which threw the championship very wide open. The Rovers unlike the Bulls didn’t slip up once following their cataclysmic four game losing streak and won all of the games putting them right up there with the Bulls. The Tigers slipped up quite a few times struggling to hold onto third place on the table as it was occupied by the Kings of Fermont who were very much outsiders at the beginning of the season. The Lions finished on equal wins as the Tigers in fifth position following a rather successful season for them considering the stiff competition. The bottom half of the table was comprised of the San Pablo Rockers, the Marda Frogs, the Torrijas Wizards, the Maihar Warriors and the Lagos Yetis in order.

OOC: Feel free to contact me via Discord or PM me if you have any national teamer or tweener willing to play in the Gatchingerrak Superliga, as I probably won't be scouting as much talent for Superliga as I'd be normally doing so with QOVO.1 league for obvious reasons. If you wish to TG, send it to Quebec and Shingoryeo and not this account, as I tend to check this account infrequently at times. For those who wish to get rough comparison for how I view the league signings, QOVO.1 leagues would be more like Italy and Gatchingerrak Superliga Russia, though GGU certainly doesn't have the size or talent pool or VWE results. lol.

THE GATCHINGERRAK SUPERLIGA 2051-52 SEASON

Gatchingerrak Union of Rushmori nations, shortened as the Gatchingerrak Union, is a cultural and political alliance of four countries of the Quebecois Commonwealth located in mid-southern Rushmore (Norrskie Zasousti, Norrehavn, Gatchinovo and Novopetrograd, with an incoming membership by the Ilyrian Isles). The three kingdoms and the citystate, while independent nations of own, do have the Gatchingerrak Union as a way to establish their common zone, where their main goals are to advance co-operation in military, cultural, economic and energy matters. It shares land border with Vaugania and Norrhem to the west, while bits of the east touch Phoenigetzusta. Combined population of the union are estimated to be around 83 million.

While its trio of nations have always fought with one another for centuries, Gatchingerrak Union is a culturally diverse nation with growing importance outside to that of the Quebecois Commonwealth. Its population is ethnically diverse, with the eastern, Novopetrogradian half of the realms primarily Slavic, while the Western half is divided to primarily Nordic Norrehavn on north and slavic Norrskie Zasousti on the south. Somewhere in middle of the lake, which faces all of the three nations, stands the island that is nowadays known as the citystate of Gatchinovo, the ancient place known for its significance on trades and diplomacy among the Rushmori realms of the Quebecois Commonwealth. It is where the Accord between the 4 states were signed in year 2030 (around the time of WC78), to promise co-prosperity among the rivalling states whose cooperation is needed more than ever. Its economy is a mix of natural resources and heavy manufacturing for it.

A no stranger to international sport, Gatchingerrak Union does have a past history of international football and hockey, where its western realms were represented as Norrehavn. It has hosted a Copa Rushmori and a World Cup of Hockey, and both sports are extremely popular. Unfortunately, the long years of absence from the international sporting circuit does mean that it is expected to be a long way back to relevance for the seven-stars in most sports beyond the Quebecois Commonwealth, even if the individual nation within the Union perform well within the Commonwealth circuit.

Out of those, volleyball is one sport where they may have the strongest following that ties up with their team strength, even if the competitiveness of the international volleyball scene may leave them slightly...underperforming. Volleyball is a very popular sport across Gatchingerrak Union, especially in Novopetrograd, Gatchinovo citystate and Norrskie Zasousti (everybody knows Norrehavn doesn't, even when they have a couple of known opposites over time), and it is one sport where both men and women, as with Quebec, have a fairly large following as well. This is partly due to decades of competitive rivalry between Novopetrograd and Quebec dating back to the 1960s, which remain a marquee match (see: GGU-QUE men's round robin match of the VWE 13), but also due to the northern realms' decline in basketball and to lesser extent basketball.

The Gatchingerrak Superliga, for both men and women, is a highly popular league with remarkable television ratings (better than football league, even though they aim to change it with a possible IFCF membership in near future) and sellout crowd in most arenas. Generally players are paid generously, roughly around $150-600k NSD, and the perks that come with the league more than makes up for extensive travel required during the Vatmarkian winters. The league's foreigner limit (maximum two a year) and the challenging nature of sports administration in country at times (not bad, but just complicated to navigate even for international jurists) usually mean that they'll usually stick to signing a Quebecois or another Commonwealth player (Banija, for one).

Traditionally, it has been a popular place for the Quebecois national team players to move, especially in the old days when the salaries were lower and volleyball wasn't as popular at various points over history (2000s for women, 2010s for men). The times have changed, however, and the rise of Mytanar Top League and the BVL within Rushmore alone, with both them and the QOVO.1 leagues offering more stability on their contracts, it has had harder time attracting Quebecois players of acceptable calibre (usually on the national team or higher). At the moment, four foreign players, all coming from Quebec or Banija, play in the Gatchingerrak Superliga - Li Nkemdilim Nwankwo (BoIFK, Men - BNJ), OH Bae Jong-Doo (Avangard VC, Men - QUE), OH Alexanne Bayley (Iskra Palmyra, Women - QUE), and RS Agak Okumu (VK Lubossa, Women - BNJ) - though there have been rumours of a national team opposite in either Ahn Seung-Min or Todor Asparuhov, or setter Gustave-Paul Filatriault moving as well. That said, let's move to some scores and results for now:

New VCL, WorldLeague Format Announced

Published: 09:41, 3 SEPT 2051

MANDRID, HISPINAS - Following a joint Volleyball World Expo (VWE) - International Volleyball Federation (IVF) meeting last night, the upcoming format for the Volleyball Champions' League and the WorldLeague, were discussed and approved after overnight discussion about the approachability of the prospective format.

The upcoming format for the WorldLeague, based on the paperwork of clear intent received by 12 associations (OOC: This means submitting their league result), will consist of a single round-robin match during the group stage phase. This will then be followed by a six-team second round robin stage, where the teams will then be divided into two groups of three for a single round robin format. The final four teams will then move into the semifinals and the finals on a neutral venue, allowing for maximum ride of international volleyball to unfold during the alternating year.

As for the Volleyball Champions League (VCL), the twenty-four team format is in plans with paperwork of intent received a year ahead of time. Champions from seven returning associations to the VCL (Mytanija, Quebec and Shingoryeo, Bollonich, Hispinas, Chromatika, Gatchingerrak Union and Darmen) and one new association, Siovanija and Teusland, on wildcard by past competitive record, will be given automatic spot to the group stage. Sixteen remaining teams are going to play a qualifying round to determine eight remaining qualifiers into the group stage. Being marked with four groups of four, each team will play under double-round robin format, equaling to six matches that happen over between fall and spring. The matches, when possible, will be played mid-week to avoid conflicts with the league matches scheduled for most nations. Top two teams on each group stage will qualify for the quarterfinals. All the knockout rounds onwards will be played on a neutral venue selected.

The following format for two competitions will provide the teams, fans and future volleyballers across the Multiverse to maximise their exposure to the sport that continues to see strong presence and participation, year in and year out, across the Multiverse. Furthermore, the longer period over the tournaments will allow stronger promotion of the sport in major and emerging markets alike.

International Volleyball Federation, based in Quebec City, Quebec and Shingoryeo, following their agreement with the Volleyball World Expo committee, has now opened the calls for host venue applications. Interested associations, who have received confirmation of their intent paperwork, are now welcome to apply for the open bidding process for the final.

As for the World Beach Volleyball Championships, to be held next summer, there is no update over the format at this point in time. The scheduling matter will subsequently be discussed at the Competition Committee meeting in to be held in Quebec City this November.

Procedural Notes
  • All entries were accepted.
  • There are twenty-four entries from twelve nations, with all the entries from ranked associations at the end of Volleyball World Expo 13. This is a good sign. While the IVF is not governed under the VWE, the relatively intimate nature that exist between the two competitions would mean that the associations with history in VWE better be given priorities. With that said, it is advised that the entrants continue to sign up consistently to the VWE, to ensure ranking consistencies on both IVF and VWE departments.

Final Site Selection

Laurent Ahn Arena, Montreal, Quebec and Shingoryeo will host the Volleyball Champions League and the WorldLeague of the IVF V cycle. As for the World Beach Volleyball Championship, Seunghakpo Beach in Halifax, Quebec and Shingoryeo, will host the entire competition.

Sixteen remaining teams, including all finalists and champions from remaining four associations, will play a qualifying round to determine eight remaining qualifiers into the group stage.

Quarterfinals
In case there is a normal tie, there will be a third match held to decide the series. This is done as an alternative to the use of golden sets in CEV Champions League, as xkoranate does not have a function for Golden Sets in volleyball.

After a chaotic group stage that saw the strengths of increased parity on the domestic volleyball scene across the multiverse, the IVF playoffs went as expected, as the defending champions Litala '93 continued their international dominance, beating last VCL finalist Vreton Bulls and Quebecois powerhouse Montreal Koreana en route to defend their title. Litala '93 become the first team since Lexington Torch of New Gelderland to win back-to-back VCL titles, adding to the legends of Radina Ristic and Mira Gushtanova.

The 5th WorldLeague Final would be contested by two Rushmori nations in Mytanija and Bollonich, which wasn't a surprise to many people. Still, what may have surprised some people, however, was that the host nation of Quebec and Shingoryeo, beaten in straight sets by their rivals, did not make the final for the first time in the WorldLeague history - they instead won bronze medal after beating Commonwealth rivals Banija in full sets. While some may have been disappointed by this, the presence of two deserving sides were more than enough to suggest that Rushmore remain the prime continent for international domestic volleyball.

For Mytanija, the WorldLeague tournament was a testing ground for the national team led by a new coach following Radina Ristic's retirement after the last VWE, and the Rushmori powerhouse had succeeded in completing their initial goal, beating the Quebecois twice in order to reach the final. Meanwhile, Bollonich has emerged as a recent volleyball power, most strongly marked by an olympic men's bronze medal and the IVF 4 title, and would be hoping that they would be able to defend their title. In the end, it was the Mytanar side who, under the direction of their new coach, Peruna Zivic of Dinamo, beat out Bollonich in four sets, adding the WorldLeague title to what's been yet another excellent IVF cycle for the Mytanija.

Congratulations to Antonina Can/Ishmael Luy pair for their successful title defence.
The defending champions from Hispinas had an unexpected second-place finish in the group stage, after losing the head to head results, 0-2, to James Ingott/Kevin Masters pair of Chromatika. Not that it mattered much to them in the end, as they went onto win four consecutive matches. The pair's second consecutive win puts Hispinas as the one of only two nations (the other being New Gelderland) to have won the IVF WBVC. The pair, with their successful defence, reigns as the most successful in domestic beach volleyball history.

Entry for International Volleyball Federation - Cycle VI

Updated association coëfficients are now available.

For the upcoming cycle of the International Volleyball Federation's competitions, which comprise of three championships in indoor and beach volleyball, there will be major changes made to reflect the stronger status of the sport on domestic front. Please read this carefully:

  • IVF WorldLeague accepts one national team per nation. Maximum of one puppet national team can be entered.
  • Unlike in past editions, when the WorldLeague competitions were all held in a single location (e.g. VNL 2021), venue submissions for the first group stage will be accepted. Venue submissions, entirely up to the participating nation, will be done under a simplified format, with the entrant just submitting venue, location and capacity (e.g. Ssangye Arena, Ssangye, Quebec and Shingoryeo - Cap: 5,870).

For the IVF Volleyball Champions League, the number of teams allowed is determined according to the association coëfficient ranking, with the following distribution:
  • The top six associations (Mytanija, Quebec and Shingoryeo, Bollonich, Hispinas, Siovanija and Teusland, and Chromatika) are entitled to enter three teams to the VCL 6.
  • All other associations may enter up to two clubs. One user will be allowed to enter with a main and a puppet, with latter being declared on the form.
  • As defending champions, Litala '93 receives automatic qualification to the group stage. Should Litala '93 not qualify, Mytanija will be given a fourth qualification spot.

For the beach volleyball section of the International Volleyball Federation (IVF), I have decided to go for a format change to add additional realism to it. Instead of the World Beach Volleyball Championships held on a single location at the end, there will be a IVF International Beach Tour (IBT), held with generous prize money across the Multiverse under participating nations, with the Tour Finals being open for the bidding process. ICly, feel free to roleplay the IBT as running concurrently to the domestic championships and whatnot:

  • For the IVF International Beach Tour (IBT), three pairs per association, as well as individual Open venues, will be accepted. Maximum of one puppet association can be entered, with 2 pairs allowed for them. Please clearly state your pair in 1-2-3 order for placement purposes.
  • As defending champions, Antonina Can/Ishmael Luy pair receives automatic qualification to the group stage. Should this pair not qualify for the upcoming edition of VBWC, Hispinas will be given a fourth pair available for qualification.
  • Associations interested to bid for the final site of the next VCL/WorldLeague/IBT shall post their arena bid with a format similar to that of the IFCF, as have stated in the OP. If there are no bids received, then the default venue will remain to be in Ssangye Arena, Ssangye, Quebec and Shingoryeo for VCL/WorldLeague and Doncliffe Beach, Kingston, Quebec and Shingoryeo.

As for the new submission format, please use the following format:

Samplestan (XYZ) qualifiers
master nation of Sampleland (ZYX)
VCL: 1093 Sampleton, Sampleville Tigers, Samplesamplesamplesample VC
WorldLeague: Samplestan - Samplestan City Arena, Samplestan City, Samplestan (Cap: 24,300)
WBVC: Sample A/Sample B, Sample C/Sample D, Sample E/Sample F - Samplestan Open, Samplestan Beach, Samplestan City (Capacity: 210)

The likely deadline for the IVF 6 Cycle will be in early February. It is expected that the deadline will occur in a week following the completion of VWE 14.

The Kriegiersien Vollyeball Mega League saw in its second season the title holder winning without a problem, but behind them it was a very exciting and balanced competition for the second spot. The assembly of Beach Volley Players were able to win the second spot for the VCL just in front of the captial city club Schoenwetter, the Winter City Polarbears, who nearly sold their license before the start of the season and the Zombieballers from Zombiestan.

The volleyball championship is over. The Volleyball Association of Srednjci is sending two of its champions to the international volleyball scene, one in the women's competition and the other in the men's competition.
Domestic volleyball championship is becoming more and more popular and in high-quality in our country, so it's not surprising that there are more spectators at matches.

OOC: Minor note - I have noticed that I wrote WBVC, the predecessor of IBT, instead of IBT for beach submissions box. That error's now fixed. All the submissions made under WBVC will be counted as IBT submissions.

We are all busy, and with how the domestic cycles for many sports mesh together...here's an extension.

The entry deadline for the sixth cycle of the International Volleyball Federation (IVF) competitions, will be 17 March 2022, 22:00 EST (Toronto-New York Time).

Updated association coëfficients are now available.

Please read the spoilers and the sample format carefully, especially for WorldLeague venues:
Entry for International Volleyball Federation - Cycle VI

As for the new submission format, please use the following format. You are more than welcome to submit a site bid for either WL or IBT as well:
