Hopefully Japan doesn't do that. I'm already furious that I'm gonna have to be fighting three players.

Seriously, please stop. I don't think the Russians are going to take a false-flag attack at face value without a very serious in-depth investigation.

@Antimersia, I sadly do not have that much time to participate actively in the RP rn, but would you be so kind as to take my application, and use it as guidance to create an NPC Socialist California? By the time I would be able to actively participate, Cascadia would have annexed most of California. If you need help in figuring out the direction in which you want to take Cali in the RP, I'll be more than happy to give some suggestions in the OOC.

Oh, and here's the application in case you don't want to scroll through pages of the OOC to find it:

well, there are only three factions that have the goal of unity. cascadia, USA, and UAS. USA is rather globalist. Cascadia would create a police state on steroids. and the UAS would try to create a level on self sufficiency that would appear isolationist. but would not be strictly so.

They are also restricted mainly to trucks, pickups and ATV's in the vehicular department.

Special Operations Forces - 3500 Operators.

Ongoing major and minor domestic Issues

Economic Slump: Despite several signs of the recovery, the 2008 Financial Crisis hit Poland hard, very hard, wiping out 20% of the country's GDP, raising unemployment to 18% and resulting in a youth crisis and property bust. The after-effects are still keenly felt today with a large segment of the youth being trapped in a cycle of temporary jobs, which resulted in the creation of a secondary socio-economic class of workers with reduced wages, no job stability and little advancement opportunities called the "Precariat".

Effect - Lowers Purchasing Power, Public Order and Support of the Government (especially among 18-25's) until economic growth can alleviate the situation.

Between the Hammer and Anvil: Unaffiliated with any of the large global alliances, and steadily drifting further and further from Russia over the last three decades, Poland has been trying to chart a new path for itself since the mid-90's. As the country still borders two nations with a long history of hostility towards Poland, the people expect a well-oiled military to act as a deterrent.

Effect - Military Spending below 2.5% of GDP will lead to large amounts of discontent - Finding a reliable security guarantor is a diplomatic priority.

The Banker, the Priest and the Farmer: The Banking system, the Catholic Church and the massive Farmer's Unions wield truly vast amounts of social, economic and cultural influence in the country, when they talk, people listen. Any government in Warsaw that alienates one (or god-forbid more) of these powerful internal interest-groups will find itself in a world of hurt.

Effect - These three powerful lobbies need to be kept happy, to many policies hurting either one with cause instability and/or economic ramifications.

The War next Door: All-out war in Ukraine has caused great worry and a deep feeling of unease across Poland, some people fear Russia will keep going after Kiev on to Warsaw, others think Poland should work with Russia and take control of East Galicia, everyone debates what is to be done about the thousands of refugees coming in every day.

Effect - Lowers public order for the duration of the Ukrainian War, significantly lowers public order if the government fails to provide a sense of security and handles the refugees incompetently.

Ukrainian Refugee Crisis: As the Ukrainian conflict spiraled into all-out war between Ukraine and the Russian Empire, many Ukrainians now flee their homes. First by the thousands, then by the tens of thousands and many of them now piled up along the Polish border with thousands more arriving every day as the Border Guard struggles to process these masses.

Effect - Large Ukrainian immigration into Poland as long as the Ukrainian War goes on, causing tensions with locals and an economic strain on the government.

Poland is Not Yet Lost: Poland has a long history of fighting for it's independence including against regimes as brutal as those of the Nazis, and before WW2 they managed to bring even the mighty Tzar to the table. This history of struggle for their country is something the Polish people take great pride in and inspiration from.

Effect - Significantly raises morale and civilian war support if fighting a defensive war.

Religion Breakdown - Catholic Christianity 86% / Other Christianity 4% / Irreligiosity-Atheism 6% / Other-Unanswered 4% (2018 Census)

History

1918-1927: Rising discontent after WW1 stemming from surging nationalist sentiments and Russian incompetence in reconstructing the infrastructure which had been heavily damaged by the back and forth fighting between Russia and Germany on Polish territory led to strikes and demonstrations. A crackdown by the Russian Police in 1921 led to the Warsaw massacre of 1921 in which 108 demonstrators were killed, only worsening the situation and radicalizing many groups across the country. These various independence movements often had conflicting ideologies, united only by the common goal of Polish independence. Violence spiraled out of control by 1924 with attacks targeting government buildings, police stations and Russian security personnel rising in frequency and lethality, leading to harsher and harsher crackdowns feeding the cycle of violence. By 1926 the situation had grown worse for the Empire, Russia effectively losing control over parts of the Polish countryside which finally led to negotiations between the Russian government and a group of Polish representatives headed by Jozef Pilsudski, Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Paderewski.

1927-1930: After regaining its independence in 1927, Poland was faced with major economic difficulties. In addition to the devastation brought by WW1, the exploitation of the Polish economy by the German and Russian occupying powers and the sabotage performed by retreating armies, the new Polish Republic was faced with the task of economically unifying disparate economic regions, which had previously been part of three different Empires. This was not helped by the infighting between the various independence movements now turned political parties which led to frequently changing governments and instability across the country. Jozef Pilsudski, Chief of Staff of the Polish Military preformed a military coup in May of 1930, installing his Sanationist Regime.

1930-1939: While Polish democracy took a turn for the worse after the May Coup, stability improved greatly which allowed for the economy to grow. The introduction of the Zloty in November 1930 allowed the country to finally bring it's inflation under control and large infrastructural projects interconnected major urban and industrial centers in the previous German, Russian and Austrian ruled areas with each-other. The Great Depression hit the country hard, which led to the implementation of the Four-Year Plan in 1935. The plan entailed expansion of infrastructure, increase in the defensive abilities of Poland, the preparation of foundations for future expansion of Poland’s industry, construction of the New Industrial Region and reactivation of the Old-Polish Industrial Region. This created a visible economic revival, nevertheless, millions of people, especially in overpopulated areas in the south, were unemployed and rapid urban expansion called for expansion of services. Any such measures were however cut short by the German invasion on the 1'st of September 1939.

1939-1945: By early October of 1939, the entirety of Poland was occupied by Germany which proceeded to advance its genocidal policies across Poland. As early as November 1939, German planners called for "the complete destruction of all Poles" and a fate as outlined in the Generalplan Ost. Under the Nazi occupation Polish citizens suffered enormous human and material losses. The Jews of Poland were particularly singled out and targeted by the Germans for quick and total annihilation and about 90 percent of Polish Jews were murdered as part of the Holocaust. Jews, Poles, Romani people and prisoners of many other ethnicities were murdered in what can only be described as an industrial scale at Nazi extermination camps, such as Auschwitz, Treblinka and Sobibor. Ethnic Poles fared only slightly better than their Jewish countrymen, with two million murdered and many more expelled from the areas directly annexed into the Reich to the General Gouvernment, which the Nazis planned to keep as a "Polish reservation" to be used for slave labor as part of the wider Generalplan Ost. The severity of the Nazi terror channeled directly into what became the largest resistance movement of WW2. The resistance to German occupation began almost at once and included guerrilla warfare and evolved into a system of centrally commanded military conspiratorial activity. The Polish resistance eventually evolved into an underground state, complete with degree-awarding universities and a court system and conducted a broad range of political, military, administrative, social, cultural, educational and other activities within the limits of its clandestine environment. The Resistance Army built up its forces in preparation for a national uprising but the situation was complicated by the remaining strength of Germany and the threat presented by the advance of the Russians, who promoted a territorial and political vision of a future Poland that was at odds with what the Polish leadership was striving for. In the summer of 1944, as Russian forces approached Warsaw, the AK prepared an uprising in the German-occupied capital city with the political intention of preempting an imposition of a pro-Russian government in Poland. The Russian settled down and waited for the Germans to defeat the insurgents and severely weaken the Home Army. With Operation Tempest and the Warsaw Uprising both failing, AK Commander Tadeusz Bor-Komorowski issued an order for the AK to disband. Some partisans obeyed the order and returned home while other refused and kept fighting, now against the Russians instead of the Germans. The civilian Underground State structure remained in existence and hoped to participate in the future government of Poland.

1945-1950: At the Yalta Conference the Tzar was able to present his western allies with a fait accompli in Poland. His armed forces were in occupation of the country, and a pro-Russian administration under Boleslaw Bierut and dominated by the Polish People's Party was in control of its civilian functions. In compensation for the suffering brought on Poland by the Nazis, Polish leaders advocated a return to the Piast-Era borders of Poland during the Middle-Ages. In such as settlement, Poland was to be granted the now German-majority territories in Pomerania, Silesia, Brandenburg east of the Oder and East Prussia. In the end, only the Masurian region of East Prussia which had a sizable Polish minority pre-war was granted to Poland, as well as the international recognition of Zaolzian Silesia as part of Poland. This greatly embittered Poland in the post-war era, even to this day. Boleslaw Bierut and the National Restoration Government refused to rescind Martial Law until it used the extraordinary powers it granted to introduce a new, more authoritarian constitution in 1947, cementing it's power over the country. What Poland did receive was Russian economic aid and German reparations, at least for the time being. That and the Three Year Plan of 1947-1950 served to kick-start the Polish economy and revitalize agriculture and light industry while starting to rebuild the country's ruined cities.

1950-1968: The 50's saw an economic downturn as the planners behind the 3-Year Plan were fired and replaced with people considered more politically reliable by the NRG, this led to inefficient plans focusing on heavy industry, leading to a food crisis and riots in Poznan in 1956. The unrest led to a re-shuffling within the NRG and Wladyslaw Gomulka´s rise to power in Poland. He denounced the Bierut administration and signed an official Status of Forces agreement with Russia, leading to most Russian troops leaving Poland and polish-born Russian marshall Rokossowsky being replaced as Polish Minister of Defense, this greatly raised Gomulka´s popularity in the country. President Gomulka was what can only the described as obsessed with the possibility of a German resurgence after his experiences in WW2 and considered Russia Poland's only reliable security guarantor after the failure of the western powers during the war. Gomulka had hoped that the rapidly growing Polish population east of the Oder would lead to a renegotiation of the borders. It did not. Later, Gomulka called the German Reunification "The worst thing to happen to Europe after the Second World War and the Black Death" and proceeded to vastly increase spending on heavy industry and making large military equipment purchases in Russia. This drained the economy and standards of living began to worsen significantly as Gomulka reintroduced a severe and highly unpopular conscription act raised the number of troops to 800 000. The situation deteriorated and rioting broke out across major cities across the country, when the military was ordered to put down the demonstrations with deadly force, many of the newly conscripted soldiers refused and sided with the demonstrators. This military mutiny forced Gomulka from office and led to the collapse of the NRG in 1967. A interim government was set up and many exiles who had lived in the UK, US and France since the Second World War returned to the country after the introduction of a new more democratic constitution which saw a revival in it's political life and the first election since 1930. The ZBSRP came out as the winner with a supermajority, a new big-tent political movement formed by a number of former NRG veterans and high-profile returning émigrés.

1968-1980: The new ZBSRP government under President Edward Gierek which emerged after the 1968 elections embarked on a series of economic reforms, beginning with the Agricultural Reform of 1968 and Farmer's Market Initiative. Poland also joined both OCED and the WTO in 1969 which helped the new government abandon the largely autarkic trade practices of the NRG and helped open the Polish economy to foreign investment from nations beyond those of the Eastern Block. Foreign capital investment grew sevenfold between 1969 and 1972, and the annual influx of tourists began to rise rapidly, bringing in very much needed foreign exchange. As these developments steadily converted Poland's economic structure into one more closely resembling a free-market economy, the country entered the greatest cycle of economic growth and prosperity it had ever known. One of the principal lubricants of the economic expansion was the tourism from the wealthier Polish population in Eastern Germany and the remittances of one million Polish workers abroad. The automotive industry grew at a staggering rate between 1970 and 1980 and direct foreign investment during the same period stood at an impressive 6.3 billion USD. More than 40% of this investment came from Russia, almost 20% came from Germany while Switzerland, Germany and France each accounted for slightly more than 10%. By 1980 foreign capital represented 15% of the total funds invested in Poland's 500 largest companies. More important than the actual size of the foreign investment was the access it gave Polish companies to up to date technology. The people of Poland saw their incomes and standards of living rise sharply, which helped the ZBSRP win election after election retaining it's supermajority until the 1990's, this despite the 1978 Constitutional Amendment, which took much inspiration from 1935 Constitution of the Sanationists and extended the power of the executive.

1980-1990: In the early 1980's, in order to control the inflation which had grown rapidly during the boom of the 70's a conservative monetary policy and tight fiscal measures were adopted and growth of the money supply was reduced by half. The ZBSRP government of Stanislaw Ostrowski even froze its budget for a short while. Government intervention in the economy was greatly reduced and policies on imports and foreign investment were further liberalized to promote competition. To reduce the imbalance between rural and urban areas, the Ostrowski administration expanded investments in public projects, such as roads and communications facilities but the imbalance still remained. The Ostrowski administration proceeded to reduce the size of the Armed Forces from a total of 500 000 troops to 400 000 but still aided Russia in it's intervention in Afghanistan during the 1980's, at the height of the Polish participation, about 4000 Polish servicemen were deployed in the country. The War in Afghanistan and a slowdown of economic growth slowly eroded the ZBSRP's support in the polls throughout the 80's. This forced the ZBSRP to abandon some of it's previous main points as it had largely been "a political party pretending not to be one." Under Ryszard Kaczorowski, Edward Gierek and Kazimierz Sabbat the ZBSRP slowly began adopting the ideological character it is known for today.

1990-2008: In 1996, the ZBSRP having failed to improve conditions in rural areas lost the large rural area vote it had previously taken for granted with it's conservative social politics and lost it's supermajority, retaining only 38% of seats in the Sejm, a historic defeat for the party. A new OPRO-KWN coalition government rose in it's place. In the early 1990's Poland, like most other countries, was hit by the early 1990s recession and the new government stood faced with high unemployment, entrenched by its then rigid labor market and unpopular military involvements continued, this time supporting Russia in Chechnya . However the economy began to recover during the first Lech Walensa administration (1996-2000), driven by a return of consumer confidence, increased private consumption and liberalization and deregulation reforms aiming to further reduce the State's role in the market place. Devaluations of the zloty during the 1990s made Polish exports more competitive and by the time of the second Walensa administration economic growth was strong, employment grew rapidly and as people returned to the job market and confidence in the economy returned property values begin to increase and a new economic boom began in 1997. Growth in the decade prior to the 2008 Crash steadily closed the economic gap between Poland and other European countries. For a moment in 2000-2005, the Polish economy was often regarded as one of the most dynamic within the EU and thus subsequently attracted significant amounts of native and foreign investment. During the period spanning from the mid 1980s through the mid 2000s, Poland among the most successful OECD country in terms of reducing income inequality. Poland also made great strides in integrating women into the workforce. The new Liberal-Social Democrat Coalition passed laws liberalizing divorce proceedings, legalizing civil marriage and opening the workplace to women. From a position where the role of Polish women in the labor market in the late-1980s was similar to that prevailing in the major Western-European countries in the 50's, by the mid-2000's Poland had mostly achieved a modern European profile in terms of economic participation by women. By 2006 property prices had more than doubled from a decade earlier. During this time construction of apartments and houses increased at a record rate and immigration into Poland primarily from Ukraine increased into the hundreds of thousands a year. Along with the property boom, there was a rapid expansion of service industry jobs.

2008-2012: In 2008, the shockwaves of the Global Financial Crisis punctured the Polish property bubble, causing a property crash. The construction industry, previously accounting for almost 11% of GDP collapsed utterly and unemployment began to rise. The property crash led to a collapse of credit as banks hit by bad debts cut back lending causing a recession. As the economy began contracting sharply, government revenues collapsed and government debt began to climb rapidly. By the 2010 Poland was faced with severe financial problems. Unemployment rose to a record high of 25 percent and Alior Bank, the fourth largest bank in Poland requested a government bailout of 40 billion zloty, the largest bank bailout in the nation's history. The government of President Bronislaw Komorowski reported losses before taxes of 4.3 billion zlotys in 2011 and in the same year the Komorowski administration asked the World Bank for a bailout worth as much as 100 billion dollars to rescue its banking system. Still the recession had hammered the OPRO and KWN in the polls and a surging ZBSRP flew ahead in the polls, securing a marginal supermajority for the first time since 1996 in the 2012 elections.

2012-Present: Under the leadership of Lech Kaczynski, the ZBSRP ran on a platform of tax reforms, labor reforms alongside investment in security and defense as well as infrastructure. Military reforms were facilitated which disbanded the fourth brigade in each division and replaced them with support regiments. Overall the size of the armed forces was reduced from 400 000 to 300 000 but military spending remained largely the same and arms purchases increased with Poland diversifying it supply away from Russia, purchasing equipment in the West as well as investing greatly in it's domestic arms industry to facilitate a large scale modernization of the Armed Forces across 2010 to 2020. Labor reforms made for a more flexible labor market, facilitating layoffs with the goal of enhancing corporate confidence. By 2014, the Polish economy had reversed its negative trend and started creating jobs for the first time since 2008. However, trade unions, left, and center-left parties criticized the reform and wanted it to be revoked on grounds that it tilted the balance of power too far towards employers. Besides, most new work contracts are temporary leaving many, primarily young employees with no sense of economic security. Minimum wages were raised by 20% and a number of controversial amendments to the constitution were made by the second Kaczynski administration such as raising presidential term limits from 2 to 4 and reducing democratic safeguards in the Constitutional Court, Prosecutors Office, Media Authority, and State Audit Office. However, unemployment fell to the lowest it had been since 2008 in 2016 which saw the first Duda Administration hold on to the ZBSRP's supermajority. The first Duda Administration used bailout money from the World Bank and IMF to "re-polonize" the banking system, the Polish government now owns 25% percent stake of the Alior Bank through the State Insurance company ZUS and the Polish Development Fund, part of the Ministry of Finance has bought buying a 35% stakes in Millenium Bank, Bank Pekao and UniCredit. It embarked on a large joint investment with Denmark and Norway, laying the foundations for a pipeline to connect the three counties which would reduce Polish dependence on Russian oil and LNG imports while closing a number of loopholes in the corporate tax code. In response to the crisis in Ukraine, the first Duda Administration reactivated the Territorial Defense Forces in 2016 and continued the modernization of the armed forces started by Kaczynski. The second Duda Administration of 2020 until the Present has been working on a large package of reforms to kick-start Poland's economic growth, but the success of these efforts remain to be seen as global stability crumbles and wars break out, involving all four of the world's top global economies as a mounting Ukrainian refugee crisis grips the Eastern Polish border.

well, there are only three factions that have the goal of unity. cascadia, USA, and UAS. USA is rather globalist. Cascadia would create a police state on steroids. and the UAS would try to create a level on self sufficiency that would appear isolationist. but would not be strictly so.

Cascadia would likely be more secessionist due to the Cascadian independence movement being a thing.

Ahhh, well considering what just happened I'm sure no one is really thinking of whether or not that was a good idea just yet.

yes thats what i based it on but i also took the ruby ridge secluded gun nut approach and combined the movement with the north west territory movement. which will be propelled into fighting for total national control. which, considering they are doing dozens of public hangings a day, who knows how long this movement will last.
