SIXTY-SECOND SEASON - PART I
The Liga Federal de Valladares welcomes one and all to the sixty-second season of Valladar domestic football, with AS Bezieres coming into the new season as defending champions as well as a group of former Liga-1 regulars coming from Liga-2 led by old acquaintances FC Fauxham and CAP, both returning to the top-flight after a long absence, while Atlético Nápoles will be making their first appearance in the top tier this season. The three sides will be replacing Étoile Verte, AS Montreux, and FC Maritime Westporte, all of them going back to Liga-2. Whilst Bezieres might have dominated last season from start to end to win their fully deserved 11th domestic crown, this season is once again expected to witness an open title race, as the usual contenders have got stronger. Will Les Rouges manage to endure the pressure from their other rivals and claim back-to-back titles? Will l'Impact and the Alligators be able to restore the gap with Victor Anigo's side in the league's roll of honour? Any of Marinos, Nacional or TFC returning to the summit? Olympique de Fontvielle, Canalave Dragons, or Pradera FC moving from IFCF hopefuls to real tittle contenders? Or will we have a new underdog surprising everyone this time? So, without further ado, here we start answering those questions with the first part of this season's review!

Round 1 (March 5-6-7)
The new Liga-1 season was officially opened on Friday 5th with defending Liga-1 champions Bezieres welcoming their Liga-2 counterparts Fauxham at the Stade de Foix in the Champions' Kickoff, in a match where Les Rouges' new Vanorian signing Gideon Riemann provided two assists to help his team beat the Greens and get the first three points of the new campaign. The city of Metropolis welcomed the season split in half, as its four main teams faced each other in two derbies: Bohemians and the Alligators locked horns in Barrio Jardín in the first north Metropolis derby of the season, while Nacional entertained Marinos in its southern counterpart at the Estadio Zachary Fortin. There was total parity in the north, with the Gallo managing to rescue a point against the Titan with a late goal by Nepharan player Rudi Moisander, while Lisandro Craviotto scored the lone goal Marinos needed to down La Academia in their first match of the season. With their Canalave Crown loss already left behind, the Stars wanted to begin their league quest on the right foot by beating Fontvielle Impact at home, however, the team now managed by former Servette gaffer Pierre Renquin were able to held the Yellows to a draw at home as a goal by Ernest Dillmont in the second half cancelled out Joe Lindpere's opener for the Stars. Tannenberg and Slateport Bulls were both able to start the season with three points on the bag, as Citizens and Bulls passed tough tests with narrow victories against CAP and Junín, respectively, while Lukas Farrell's tenure of Servette was also off to a good start as Les Grenats came from behind to beat Olympique at the Stade de l'Amitié. The first weekend of the season also had its couple of upsets, with Pradera and Canalave Dragons losing to Nord Energie and Tallin on the road, respectively, and Atlético Nápoles, managed by Metropolis Alligators idol Jonathan Bosetti, were able to avoid defeat in their Liga-1 baptism as they stole one point from their short trip to the Metropolis southern suburbs to play Cerro.

Kings' Shield First Round (March 9-10-11)
And now, it's time for action in the 52nd Kings' Shield to start with the First Round featuring 190 Valladar clubs: the 7 worst clubs in Liga-2 last season, plus all the clubs in Liga-3, State Champions' League (4th tier) and the twelve State Championships (5th tier), barring 3 clubs from Electrum competing under the blessing of the Valladar and Electrumite FAs, plus the Asociación Juninense de Fútbol (AJF).
Round 2 (March 12-13-14)
Two teams are the only ones with perfect records after two matchdays: Tannenberg, who beat the tricky Slateport Bulls in an attractive match at White Meadow Arena with a brace by Taran Bele, and Marinos, who won in Pradera thanks to a penalty kick scored by Santiago Rosel. The defending champions Bezieres were left frustrated by CAP's defensive resistance as well as some big saves by former Marinos goalie Markus Portsman, who is now the guardian at the back for the side from Los Chorros, and had to settle for a scoreless draw with the Cuervos that places them with four points, along with Bohemians, the Alligators and Fontvielle Impact, who won their respective matches: Bohemians beat Servette with an outstanding performance from Alfred Valdivia at the Stade de la Gare, the Titan suffered pains to get rid of Nord Energie but eventually did so at the National Stadium, and Impact scored five past a brave Tallin side that didn't go down without a fight. Nacional and the Dragons recovered from their losses on opening day by earning convincing victories: the Albo side thumped the Stars at the City of Metropolis Stadium, while Jean Camacho's team returned from Fauxham with a 2-0 win against the town's side. In the return of top-flight football to Estadio Andrew Chrosroes in northern Metropolis, Aldo Gonckalev and Olympique de Fontvielle spoiled the party organized by Atlético Nápoles as the striker scored the winning goal for Les Jaune-et-Bleus in their visit to the capital, while in the Far East, Cerro managed to get a good result from their visit to Deportivo Junín with a 1-1 draw.

Round 3 (March 19-20-21)
The first big match of the season makes its appearance after only three rounds, as joint leaders Marinos host arch-rivals Metropolis Alligators in a new edition of the Derby Metropolitano. While Marinos were decided to continue with their winning march in this dawn of the season and managed to get an early lead with a goal by Euran midfielder Chris Ashton, Martin Boyle's side had other plans in mind and were eventually able to equalize through a header by Izzat Patton, which helped them snatch one point from the Marineros. Meanwhile, Tannenberg seized the chance to go as sole leaders by crushing Cerro at Estadio Marcus Trent with a five-star performance from Lawrence Doherty, who scored a hat-trick to ensure the Citizens would have 9 out of 9 at the end of the day. Escorting Tannenberg now stand Bohemians, who were far too strong for their north Metropolis arch-rivals Atlético Nápoles in their much-expected reunion in the top tier of Valladar football and beat them with ease at the Arena Bohemians, with Marinos now in third place despite also having 7 points. Nacional, Olympique de Fontvielle, and Canalave Dragons have all moved into the upper half of the table by claiming a second win in a row: the Albo side beat Tallin at Parken Road, Olympique thumped Junín at home and the Dragons beat Fontvielle Impact in a five-goal rollercoaster at Dragon Stadium that saw the host side take the lead, Les Bleus replying with a brace by Alexis Ardouin before half-time, and the Dragons scoring twice to secure their second win of the season. The other Foixien heavyweight, Bezieres, was also in the losing end of another five-goal thriller, capitulating to Martín Arenas and the Bulls in Slateport, while Marco Hertel guided Servette to turn what seemed to be a sure 3-0 loss to Nord Energie into an unexpected 3-3 draw with one goal and two assists in the last 10 minutes of play at the refurbished and expanded Municipal Stadium of Toril, Eterna state. Elsewhere, CAP and Fauxham cancelled each other out with a 1-1 draw in a duel of newly-promoted sides in Los Chorros, whilst Pradera finally lifted off with a victory against the Stars in Eterna City, which also pushed the side managed by Fabien Torrente into the cellar.

Round 4 (March 26-27-28)
The fourth Liga-1 round was more rewarding than usual for some teams that were blessed with some extra goals, starting with Fontvielle Impact who tore poor little Fauxham apart in a 5-1 annihilation at Frank Clair Stadium that enabled Pierre Renquin's side to reposition themselves in the upper half of the table. Glenn Anderson's Pradera also made short work of their rival in this round, thumping western rivals Tallin at the Estadio de la Montaña to claim their second straight win and break into the top ten while also plunging the Southern Gunners into the bottom four in the process. Tannenberg are in an opposite situation to their crosstown rivals, though, as the team led at the helm by new arrival from the Squornshelan Remnant States Grigor Skeens claimed a fourth win in four matches by beating Olympique de Fontvielle at White Meadow Arena. With Bohemians losing to Junín in the Far East, and Marinos also capitulating to their bogeyman Servette in the Metropolis suburbs, Nacional were able to seize second place by beating Canalave Dragons at home, which kept Arthur Bogden's side three points away from the top, while the Alligators climbed up to third place after beating the Stars in Swangard with a lone goal by Marcelo Zamudio. In other matches, Bezieres defeated Cerro at the Stade de Foix to get their title defense back on track, the Bulls punctured in Los Chorros against a disciplined CAP side that celebrated its first win in the season with a goal by Omar Portizzo, and Atlético Nápoles were able to claim their maiden win in Liga-1 by hitting Nord Energie thrice at Chosroes Stadium.

Round 5 (April 3-4-5)
A risky trip to Metropolis was next in order for leaders TFC in the start of April, as the team managed by Grigor Skeens stopped at the Arena Bohemians to play the ever-dangerous Gallo side. While the Citizens managed to ruffle the rooster's feathers by going ahead three times thanks to Rolando Barreto, Taran Bele, and Andreas Weller, the host side were eventually able to put the handbrake on the leaders and beat them by the odd goal in seven, led by Franco Vargas with a brace. In the meantime, Nacional managed to seize top spot on goal difference with a narrow yet big win in Fontvielle against l'Impact, in a match where 20-year-old striker Fabricio Tello scored the goal that gave La Academia their fourth triumph in a row. The Alligators missed a big chance to get closer to the summit, as they were held by Tallin to a scoreless stalemate at Parken Road, while Marinos and Slateport Bulls moved into the top five by winning against two promoted sides: Patrick Courtois' side suffered a lot against Atlético Nápoles but were eventually able to edge them past with a corner kick headed into the goal by Hugo Morales, and the Bulls handed cellar-dwellers Fauxham yet another loss. Elsewhere, Olympique de Fontvielle pegged defending champions Bezieres back with a 1-1 draw at the Stade de l'Amitié, Canalave Dragons had to come from behind to beat Pradera, Cerro and the Stars were able to celebrate their maiden wins of the season with the former making short work of CAP and the latter needing more effort to get rid of Servette, and Junín's "eventful" trip to Toril which included things such as cancelled flights and stranded buses and caused the match against Nord Energie to be pushed back for 24 hours eventually ended up on a happy note as the Granates beat the Electric Boys to collect their second victory of the season.

Round 6 (April 9-10-11)
Tannenberg became sole leaders once again as they bounced back from their loss to Bohemians in Metropolis the previous week with a hard-fought win over an unusually contestatory Nord Energie side at White Meadow Arena while seeing Fauxham put an end to Nacional's winning streak with a 1-1 draw at Frank Clair Stadium. Meanwhile, Marinos managed to leapfrog La Academia for second place on GD after beating Junín in a back-and-forth thriller with packed house at the Far Eastern city, with Slateport Bulls and Metropolis Alligators staying three points adrift the leaders following victories at home against Cerro and the Dragons. Victor Anigo's Bezieres put themselves back on track by beating Bohemians in another outstanding performance from Gideon Riemann, while both Fontvielle sides had to settle for disappointing scoreless stalemates on the road: Impact lacked punch up front to beat Pradera, and their neighbours Olympique were left frustrated by Markus Portsman and CAP in Los Chorros. In Metropolis, the Stars were lucky to take one point home, as Jonathan Bosetti's Atlético Nápoles were closer to win the match between both sides at Chosroes Stadium, while Servette drew on their Marco Hertel-Matthias Lussier partnership to get rid of Tallin at the Stade de la Gare and break into the upper half of the table.

Round 7 (April 16-17-18)
The Stade de la Frontière was the venue for the first Derby de Valladares of the season in which Fontvielle Impact and Metropolis Alligators met with some pressure: the hosts were undoubtedly the ones with the biggest need as they found themselves in an uncomfortable tenth place after their irregular start to the season, the Titan were a little more relieved in fourth place and as the only team still to lose a match but still needed the three points to give chase. Eventually, the Alligators managed to shake off the recent Bleu dominance of the Derby and claimed an important victory thanks to Felipe Camargo's goal at the first half hour of play. The other attractive match of the round involved leaders TFC as they returned to the capital to defend their leadership against second-placed Marinos at Estadio Zachary Fortin and managed to do so thanks to a penalty kick scored by Lawrence Doherty, handing Patrick Courtois' side their second loss of the campaign and moving five points clear of the Marineros in the process. However, Nacional managed to keep the gap between TFC and second place narrow as they moved back into second with a win over Pradera a couple kilometres from Parque Rushmore, with the Bulls also keeping up with Citizens, Albos, and Alligators by winning against Olympique in Fontvielle. Meanwhile, Bohemians did not allow any surprises coming from CAP and beat them even though the Cuervos put up a good fight against Gilbert Favre's side, but Bezieres tripped up in Toril against a Nord Energie side which was finally able to see their hard work rewarded with three points which move them away from the bottom four. Elsewhere, James Ruddy saved the Stars by scoring the only goal to separate them from Junín in thier match, the Dragons and Servette cancelled each other out in Canalave with a scoreless draw, and Cerro and Fauxham also shared the spoils in the Metropolis southern suburbs.

Round 8 (April 23-24-25)
With Tannenberg dropping points at home against the Stars, Nacional and the Alligators were faced with the chance to either match the Citizens at the summit or cut the gap with them to just one point in the Alligators' case. However, the first Derby Añejo of the season, played at Swangard turned out to be inconclusive as the Titan and the Albo chose to neutralize each other and settled for a scoreless draw as a result. The other team with the chance to threaten TFC at the top, Slateport Bulls, were also unable to make much progress as they were also held to a draw by Bohemians at the Estadio de la Riviera, and as a result the status quo at the league's top four remained in place. However, the excitement that the matches at Swangard and Slateport lacked was present in Bezieres, where ASB and Marinos exchanged hits and blows with Les Rouges eventually claiming victory and striker Alain Chamoun scoring a poker for the hosts, while in Fontvielle Impact's manager Pierre Renquin's reunion with his former team Servette, Les Bleus effortlessly thumped the Metropolitan team to bounce back from their Derby defeat the previous week, and the Dragons were unable to return to winning ways as they were upset by Atlético Nápoles at Chosroes Stadium. In other matches, Junín suffered too much to beat a sturdy Tallin side at home, Olympique de Fontvielle's artillery was unable to harm Cerro and had to return home with a point, CAP and Nord Energie played an interesting match in Los Chorros that left no winner, and Fauxham fought back against Pradera to collect yet another point.

Kings' Shield Second Round (April 27-28-29)
In the second round of the Kings' Shield we see the remaining 33 teams from Liga-1 and Liga-2 entering the competition and joining the 93 first round winners, to make a field of 128 teams. The luck of the draw for the first match of the domestic cup for the bigwigs of Valladar football already brought big matchups as defending Shield holders Eterna Stars were drawn against arch-rivals Canalave Dragons for a new edition of the E1 Derby. What the team coached by Fabien Torrente did not expect was that the first match of their title defense would be the last, though, as the Dragons laid back and waited to hit the Stars at the right time (twice) to advance to the third round at the expense of their rivals, in another Shield failure for the yellow-clad side. Liga-1 leaders Tannenberg also came crashing out of the competition in their first match, with the team managed by Grigor Skeens losing in shocking fashion at the hands of Mountbatten state championship outfit Alcázares, while the other Carloburgo representative in Liga-1, Tallin, also bowed out of the competition after being thrashed by Étoile Verte in Bezieres. On the other hand, the main favourites to win the competition (MA, Impact, Bezieres, and Nacional) did not disappoint and advanced to the next stage without much trouble, with other Liga-1 sides such as Pradera and Servette thumping their lesser opposition, and others such as Fauxham and Marinos being pushed to extra time by their fifth-tier rivals: the Greens were two minutes away from a penalty shoot-out against Gazélec Saint-Rémy, while the Marineros had to wait for a brave CDSA Junín side to have a player sent off and crumble in extra time to beat them.
Round 9 (May 2-3-4)
With TFC being held to a dull scoreless draw by Tallin in the first Carloburgo Derby of the season, Nacional were left once again in a good position to level the Citizens in points for top spot in case they beat Servette at the City of Metropolis Stadium. While the side now managed by Nepharan gaffer Lukas Farrell once again proved they were a tricky rival by taking the lead twice, La Academia also proved to be the better team and beat the Grenats by a tight 3-2 score that allowed them to leapfrog Tannenberg on goal difference, with Slateport Bulls now threatening both sides by placing third and just one point adrift from the top after they broke their Toril curse and beat Nord Energie there with Alex Castro and Alexis Márquez scoring for Martín Vásquez's side, while the Alligators suffered a speed bump in Pradera as they were beaten by the Verdiblanco side and had to bid farewell to their unbeaten run. Bohemians capitalized on the Titan's defeat to claim fourth place with a clear 3-1 victory over Cerro, who have now gone winless in four games and are sinking in the bottom three, whilst Markus Portsman's return to Estadio Zachary Fortin to play against his former teammates didn't end up well for the Xannerian goalie as the press blamed him for the goals which allowed Marinos to beat CAP. In Eterna City, the Stars were able to rescue a point against a Bezieres side that needed and deserved more than a draw at the Alain Tramontin Stadium in order to get closer to the leading pack, Junín got a morale-boosting win in Canalave against the Dragons by using the very same strategy applied by Jean Camacho's side in their King's Shield match against the Stars four days earlier, and in Fontvielle, Pierre Renquin's Fontvielle Impact kept frustrating its faithful by allowing Atlético Nápoles to escape the Stade de la Frontière unscathed and with a precious point in the bag while some blocks to the north, a single goal by Aldo Gonckalev was enough for Olympique to beat Fauxham and knock on the doors of the top 10 while also burying the Eternan side in the basement.

Round 10 (May 7-8-9)
The first quarter of this Liga-1 season was officially wrapped up with a shocking outcome in Fauxham, as the Liga-2 champions were able to claim their first win of the season against none other than Metropolis Alligators, beating them with a lone goal by young striker Brian Callow in the 88th minute and sending Martin Boyle's side crashing down to seventh place. With Nacional being also stunned in their crosstown visit to Atlético Nápoles, all TFC needed to reclaim top spot in solitude was a victory against Canalave Dragons at White Meadow Arena, which they earned but not without the away side displaying some stiff opposition first. Meanwhile, the first Blue Derby of the season featuring arguably the current league's hottest team in Slateport Bulls and a Marinos Metropolis side looking to get closer to the leaders was played at the Estadio de la Riviera with Martín Vásquez's side emerging as winners and going up to second place with 22 points while also leaving the Marineros anchored to sixth place in the process. Bohemians and Bezieres moved into fourth and fifth place after the former defeated Olympique de Fontvielle with a hat-trick by Alfred Valdivia and the latter narrowly edged past a cumbersome Tallin outfit at the Stade de Foix but managed to put pressure on the leading trio. On the other hand, Fontvielle Impact fans were given another reason to remain uneasy about the performance of their team so far this season as Les Bleus stumbled to another defeat which dropped them to 12th place, this time at the hands of a Junín side that has now chained three wins in a row and find themselves sitting in eighth place. Servette were also able to crack into the top 10 of the table after they mauled Pradera at the Stade de la Gare with an inspiring performance by Marco Hertel, Cerro and Nord Energie harmed each other with a 1-1 draw at Estadio Marcus Trent that keeps both sides close to the relegation spots, and in their best match of the season so far, the Stars clobbered CAP in Los Chorros to go up to tenth place while also keeping the Cuervo side as second-from-bottom.
