Just about four years after the 2017 election, Hrvadan citizens are preparing go out to the polls and cast ballots which will decide what the composition of next Parliament (Sabor) will look like. 2021's political landscape is much more chaotic than it was during the rather uneventful 2017 election; government corruption, climate change, increased mass immigration, and a stagnating economy have been divisive topics in Hrvadan political discourse. Elections in the Hrvadan Federation are conducted under a mixed-member proportional system where electors cast two ballots, one for one of Hrvada's 150 electoral divisions and another that will go towards the allocation of the 150 list seats. A minimum of 5% of the list vote or at least one local victory is required for a party to gain seats.

The Last Knights of the Old Federation: Part 1 (Introduction Post)
24/06/2021

St.Alkrionsburg, outskirts of the city
City District 22, House No.213: Victory Day Avenue

*Voice enregister starts to play*

Aviation General Andrei Kolstad (deceased): "If you are listening to this, then I Assume I'm dead. No matter what were the circonstances, my child, you need to get up and fight... The Communist League call is still inpending... Run into the wild, recruit new men and strike " *End of the Audio*

FSB Comissar Anton Vaschislav: "Inglorious B*stard, search this house right to left, downstairs to upstairs, his son might still be in the vacinity !"

It was a glorious day for the federation, in recent years the country saw a wave of terrorism throughout the most prominent CNR's. From Alkrionsburg to Svaklaninczrad, several attacks occured. Most of them were stopped in time, all were perpetuated by Nostalgious Army Officials: they call themselves 'The Last Knights of the Old Federation' or KOOF. KOOF Terrosit activities was upscaled thanks to the 2008 Market Crash: many citizens seeing the return of the Soviets as crucial for the Federation Survival. Many KOOF Members were members of the Old Federal Socialist League (FSL), but when democracy arrived: the FSL Was declared as a terrorist oragnisation and since the Governement rage a war on them.

The the 2001 Invasion of the 'Secesionist' Korvath Oblast was justified by the 'Partiotic War on Terror' but was in fact a, what many call, a Reclamation War. Before the current size of the Federation, 65% of it secceeded in the 90's from the Federation, to 1990-2003: the Governement Invaded and systematically anexed more than 24 Nations, all former members of the USSRK. Those 24's were then combined in 7 CNR's. The Last war of reclamation was from 2001 to 2003 and was conducted by then newly elected president Kerensky.

Kerensky aproach on the KOOF was harsh: systematic death penalty for Male Member Adults was pronounced, Teenagers Members and Females were permanentely exiled to Cziberja and towards the South-Pole Teritories in penal colonies.

Later That Day: FSB District 'Alkrionsburg' HQ
District Commander Office

FSB District Captain Leo Kornilov: "Comissar you better have a better version of this, 7 Spetsnaz died today !"

FSB Comissar Anton Vaschislav: "Tovarish Com-"

FSB District Captain Leo Kornilov: "Comissar ! Kerensky himself asked for explanations ! 7 Spetsnaz died for a slim of evidence, the HVT Got away and now we have 4 Buildings burnt to the ground, Vosto Today is already being censored because they had 3 jornalist that saw everything, one was already sent to the Goulags as we speak !"

FSB Comissar Anton Vaschislav: "Captain, my units intellengency Battailon reported the exact HVT Position. Spetsnaz are to blame."

FSB District Captain Leo Kornilov: "COMISSAR ! 7 Of their men were ambushed by local gopniks and not by KOOF Elements, civilians died today because we did the Local Police Job ! Do you know why Local Police have lesser equipement ?! It's to avoid stupid deaths !" *Sits on his chair* "Anton..."

FSB Comissar Anton Vaschislav: "Tovarish"

FSB District Captain Leo Kornilov: "Are you a true Federal ?"

FSB Comissar Anton Vaschislav: "Yes Tovarish"

FSB District Captain Leo Kornilov: "Then Act like a true federal for F*ck Sake ! You're dismissed, this is your last chance Anton!"

Anton then proceeds to exit the building, he reaches to his car on the parking lot and enters it. Seconds after he ignites his car and then: a ecplosion can be heard. Anton's car and himself blew up. Caos reigned for a moment, then someone shouted: "Ave Imperia! Ave Letvoski! Ave Soviets! Death to the federation!" and seconds after a second explosion could be heard...

To be continued...

International Security Commissariat HQ, Eccata, Holy Dominion of Attancia
23rd June, 2021

“It comes as no surprise to me, nor any of you, should your competence be adequate, that the T.E.A has been formed.” Augustus Lucio, director of the ISC, stated boldly to his colleagues. Around the rectangular table were ten other officials of the ISC, their faces palely illuminated by the blue screen that was flat on the table. Various officers sat a few metres behind them, working at computers that were built into the wall. Subtle red lights cast a glow across the room, flickering as the technicians worked. “However, we can be sure that they are of little danger to us… presuming we play our cards right. The Furbishmen are probably going to have quarrel with the Vostons, judging by the latter’s questionable policies… and the Dodoians were never on my mind. And plus, Logar is always a watchful presence on the horizon.”

“What of the canal? As the Dodoians are now entirely controlled by the Vostons, and as the canal is too, we assume the entire area is under Voston control.” Mentioned his vice, Tyrion Marcus, a dwarf with grey hair and a finely crafted curl of stubble. He added something quietly to his comment, then grinned at the table. It was met with nods and grunts of approval.

“What God has forgotten to give you in height he has given you in mind.” Laughed his brother, Isaac Marcus, a tall and slender man with flowing golden hair. “Aren’t we blessed to have your company.”

“You are.” Replied his brother, grinning again. “But it is God I serve in this instance, not simply Attancia.”

Augustus stepped in. “We are his vessel to Earth, remember. The T.E.A is a philistine obstacle.” Lucius swiped the desk-screen with his hand. On the next slide was a picture of Vostos, and attached was a report by the ISC. “Anyway, the best option for turning the tide is to prove to the world that the Vostons barely differ from their previous Soviet owners. Merely oligarchs who have pulled together a fragmented nation and are willing to stand on any opposition. The Furbish are obviously aware of this on a larger scale, as they now have the Dodoians wrapped around their little finger. But on the inside, it would be safe to say that further investigation is needed.”

“A task for the intelligence department?” questioned another vice, the Chief Information Officer, Deidre Exazenos. “I assume the operation would be of my volition.”

“No.” replied Augustus sternly. “Mine. I am determined to lead this myself. I was in your position once, and I have dealt with a similar threat previously. Once again I can execute this.”

“If it pleases you, Director.” The CIO tried to hide his contempt. “However, I should like to have some part in this mission, as I know the current intelligence layout like the veins on my hand.”

The director looked at his colleague. “That sounds reasonable.” He remarked, with a plain face. “We can continue discussion tomorrow. I must arrange plans.” Augustus stood up, bowed to the table, and exited through a door behind him. After turning through a maze of corridors and ascending several sets of stairs, he eventually made it up to the deck of the facility, a large platform resembling a ship bridge. It was a hundred metres above the ground, even above the carpet of treetops that the rainforest showed. From the enormous glass windows at the ends of the room, an illusion of proximity was bestowed upon Lucius, as the leaves and branches spread out like the floor. He walked to the back of the room where several of his colleagues had lined up in front of a government café. He waited for a few minutes before he could order his routine smashed avocado on a waffle, then grabbed a Coca Cola and strode to the balcony on the left wing on the deck. The director spotted Tyrion and walked over to him. His friend was near the edge, next to the glass and metal railings that protected them both from a fatal forty metre drop onto the ever-present trees below.

“Hello Augustus,” started his friend “the normal?” he questioned as he looked at the bizarre mix of avocado and waffle.

“Yes. Delicious and nutritious. Apparently the monounsaturated fats counteract the saturated fats, because the blood stream likes them more. So less cholesterol. I don’t know, I was never one for biology…” remarked Augustus. The Director wasn’t lying. He had excelled in citizenship, modern studies, and history, but the sciences escaped him continually.

“You were always a detective.” Said Tyrion. “Your deduction skills are unmatched.”

Augustus Lucius laughed. “Flattery, Tyrion, does not cloud my vision. What is it you want?”

“I want to put your skills to use.”

“That’s awfully rude,” chuckled Lucius “but what for?”

Tyrion leant over the table to him, and made sure no one was watching, then whispered. “In four days, drive your car to three miles from here. I will meet you with mine. Dress in black and cover your face. Bring your porter, Justinian, and ask him to drive the rest of the way once you have transferred to mine. He will go to your house and we shall go to ours. I wish to discuss something. Now laugh loudly as if I have told you a joke. Cry with laughter.” He finished, and Augustus rolled back in his chair, cackling. He glimpsed Deidre Exazenos standing at the café counter, staring blankly under the table. Deidre quickly turned away, though he hadn’t noticed Augustus.

Isaac slid his fingers methodically across his keyboard, composing an open letter to the Dodo Republic. He hunched over on his bed, his face solely illuminated by the blue glow of his laptop screen. The rest of the room was a shade above black, the night-time skyline of Mankus glowing hotly through his curtain.

Your Excellency Admiral Waldoon,25.VI.2021

On behalf of the Holy Dominion and God I wish to inform you that you are being manipulated. This letter can be seen by any who wish; this letter is available freely on the website of the Attancian government.

We wish to inform you that you are being manipulated by the government of Vostochnyye. In joining the T.E.A, you are under their direct influence, surveillance, military, and ultimately control. In joining the T.E.A you sacrifice your citizens’ freedom to a larger nation, a tyrannical nation, and you surrender your defence and your protection unto them. In joining the T.E.A, you fall prey to their diplomatic engineering, like a doll attaching strings to itself only to be grasped and played with.

You are entirely at the mercy of Vostos, and are direly and uncompassionately pouring resources and money into a disastrous canal. Your nation prides itself on its freedom and patriotism, a spirit mirrored by the government, but yet you submit to other powers and send your taxpayer’s money to an incredibly expensive endeavour.

We can only advise exiting the treaty.

Au revoir
Auf Wiedersehen
Vale
Goodbye.
Sincerely concerned,
Vice-Director Isaac Marcus,
The Attancian Government,
and the Holy Trinity.

OOC: In addition to the open email, a social media campaign has been set up by the Attancian government. All over the internet, especially on Googel (Attancia’s google) and various social medias (such as KlePet), the Attancian government has spent millions of Agelicos on anti-canal adverts.
"If I had a nickel for every time Attancia attempted to use the media to get the Furbish public on his side but backfired miserably I'd have two nickels...Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice" -Furbish Islands

"Attancia proved last night that he isn't a clown" -Furbish Islands

"Attancia is slightly less retarded now" -I forgot the name someone in TL discord once

Also...Attancia types too well to be 13, if I'm honest. Something doesn't add up. -Fluvannia

'Don't let that ball knock you out of the game'

The Lightning Bolts are a popular sporting team in West Phoenicia, who are watched by over 5 million fans during their times of competition and season.
They proudly represent the nation on the international stage, especially in regards to The GCF World Twenty20 Championship XIV, where they have taken out the top prize and have for a time claimed the number one ranked spot.

However, sports are not only what they are active in.

Under former coach and now West Phoenician Cricket Federation President Edward Mount-Alexander, the team was active in various charities and causes to raise awareness and funds.
His daughter Janet Mount-Alexander is continuing the tradition of the team stepping up as Health ambassadors.

"We all respect doctors and Health experts, but often the importance of the message they are getting across falls on deaf ears", team captain, Jack Tennessee expressed in Men's Sanitas, a popular Men's health and fitness monthly magazine.
Last year, The Lighting Bolts were part of a live auction to raise money for STI awareness and prevention in youth.
Each team member sold themselves to the highest bidder, the winners received front row tickets to the next match, a night out of dinner at a luxurious restaurant, followed by a night out dancing and a Lighting Bolts gift basket.
The Lighting Bolts managed to raise over $70,000 from the auction and appeared in over 100 high schools to raise awareness.

This year they are partnering with The West Phoenician Cancer Council

Cancerous illnesses affect people on a global scale. West Phoenicians are not immune, and while there is a host of campaigns tackling everything from breast cancer to the prostate to melanoma, one often gets missed, due to the sensitive nature of the topic.
Malignant neoplasm of testis or as it's commonly known Testicular cancer.

"Early detection is a blessing, over 97% of cases continuing to live healthy lifestyles once treated, for over 5 years.
While it may not affect hundreds of thousands like other cancers, if alerting the population to the causes and treatment and awareness to diagnosis it quicker, and that saves even one life, then it's been money well spent in advertising and making the public aware."

Minister of Health, Dr Kiri Alfred stated to Men's Sanitas.

The ''Don't let that ball knock you out of the game's campaign was cleverly devised by the West Phoenician Cancer Council Marketing team.
The belief is having such a popular team speaking out in support of self-testing will help shed the embarrassment of men self-testing to ensure they are healthy.

The campaign will consist of two different advertisements. One will appear as a commercial on all channels that produce sporting content.
It will be tongue in cheek as the team and Cancer Council call on males to first self-test while in the shower and to follow up with their general practitioner if they have any concern or worry.

Scenes in the commercial will depict captain Jack Tennessee ready for the ball to come down the pitch, as he is 99 runs looking to bat a century.
His teammates will be heard shouting ''Don't let that ball knock you out of the game."

The scene will cut to the locker room where Jack Tennessee will be showering and seen from the waist down, before sliding his hand down to self-test repeating the same phrase,
''Don't let that ball knock you out of the game. Self-test to save your life, so you too can reach a century."

In addition Hasaga Kain, the team's all-rounder and the best fast bowler the country has seen will appear in print ads and billboards across the nation.
Hasaga Kain will be appearing in a nude illusion, holding two cricket balls with the words, 'Performing the perfect bowl requires checking your balls.'

The Lighting Bolts are ecstatic about representing this campaign and hope that the advertising while fun and cheeky will send the right message home to their male fans.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

26.VI.2021 A.D.

The Esteemed Government of Vostochnye Ravniny,

In recent days the Premier of Vostchnye Ravniny, H.E. Dmitry Kerensky, made a statement in his address to the Duma, which read: "[The Federation] is on the brink of being involved in a Major Continental War[.]"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to convene the concern of the Government of Dunferm concerning this statement. This passage is inflammatory and detrimental to the continuing peace and concord that developed over the recent period, which as of yet supplied the continent with wealth and renewing living force so necessary to the regeneration of economy. Dunferm and Vostochnye Ravniny have been partners for many years in trade and innovation, but the recent statement is detrimental to further economic co-operation, due to the air of uncertainty, anxiety, and mistrust that proceeds from it, that will deprive enterprises and artisans of confidence in the coming day that their business will be free from constrains of unnecessary trade barriers and conflict.

The Dunfermian Government is committed to preserve peace and concord as a way to protect the whole of mankind from the grievances and sorrow of the strife between nations, and will take neccesary measures to prevent any unnecessary conflict with an open hand.

His Majesty's Most Loyal Government would continue to look forward to strengthening of ties between two nations, and common security in Sarasta Ocean.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

From today's readings from the Book of Divine Service, the official liturgical book of the Dunfermian Church.

Psalm 33
"6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap:
he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord:
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 For he spake, and it was done;
he commanded, and it stood fast.
"
Adeste fideles laeti triumphantes,
Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
Natum videte regem angelorum.

Slanin Residence
Odredi, Cvijecia, Hrvada
26 May, 22:00 local time

When the polls closed in the Slanin’s home province of Cvijecia at around 22:00, he retreated to his large oceanside manor in the small town of Odredi outside of Petzastava. He barricaded himself inside the master bedroom, unplugged the TV, left his computer outside the room, and forbade the advisors and volunteers who were rushing around his home as the votes were being tallied from coming in unless it was for an important reason. Such isolation was somewhat of an election day tradition that he observed in 2013 and 2017 and planned to carry on in 2021.

Slanin laid on the bed while praying the rosary, he got through the Joyful and Sorrowful mysteries and was in the process of praying the Apostle’s Creed for the Glorious mysteries when he was interrupted by a knock on the bedroom door. It was his wife, Mimi. ”What is it, dear?”[i] he inquired as he sat up on the bed as she entered the room. She smiled, [i]”They’re already projecting that you’ll be reelected as MP for the Division, the people out here are saying once all the votes are counted your margin over the second place candidate will be at least 40 points!” Slanin laid back and stared at the ceiling fan with an expression of awe. He was barely re-elected in 2017 by an 11 point margin, 40 points would be historic, and if the swing was similar in the rest of the country the Confederation could easily become the largest party in the Sabor.

He finished the Glorious and then Luminous mysteries without interruption. When he was finished he said a prayer asking God to ordain him leader of the Hrvadan Federation. When he was done offering up his prayer to the Lord, Slanin reflected on the very real fact that he potentially could become leader of one of the largest and most powerful nations in the world and wondered if he could deliver on his promises to make life better for the people of his country. ”Can I really handle it? He thought to himself.

After what seemed like only a few minutes of silence (it was closer to an hour) there was another knock on the door. ”Who is it? asked Slanin. ”It’s Pavao!” responded to a voice on the other side of the door. Slanin let Pavao Gosar, the Confederation MP from Western Pustinja come into the room. Gosar held a yellow notepad in his right hand and excitedly read off of it as he paced around the bedroom. ”The Division of Mobini flipped Republican to Confederation, Henrigrad flipped Republican to Confederation, Morganovgrad Republican to Confederation, Elenagrad Social Democratic to Confederation… And get this, Madigrad, that faggot Leon Adamić’s Division flipped Social Democratic to Confederation.” He was talking so fast that he had to take a deep breath before continuing…

”They just started counting votes out west and some Divisions are still finishing counting here in the east, but based on our rough projections the Confederation is going to come out with 19% to 22% of the vote. The Liberals and Republicans are still fighting for second place, and both will probably take around 16% to 18% of the vote. But overall, that means that we’re going to be the largest party in the Parliament!” Slanin jumped out of bed and yelled ”Let’s fucking go!” He looked at Gosar. ”What the hell do we do next then?” Gosar quickly replied ”The advisors are saying that we have to set the narrative now and declare victory as soon as possible. We need to look like the winners of this election and pray the President taps us to form the Government.” Slanin smiled and replied, ”Then what the fuck are we waiting for you crazy fucker? Let’s go address our supporters!”

The two men exited the bedroom as a swarm of advisors, interns, volunteers, and election experts thunderously clapped and cheered as they walked through the house. One person handed him a small plastic binder with big green letters across the front reading VICTORY SPEECH. Slanin, Gosar, and Mimi as well as a few other family members of both men got into a balck SUV and headed towards a large convention center in downtown Petzastava where thousands of Confederation supporters were awaiting an appearance.

Along with his wife, Gosar walked out to the stage overlooking thousands of well-dressed Confederation supporters, many wearing dark blue hats with the party logo on them and waving Confederation and Hrvadan flags. His speech was nothing special, just a thank you to the party volunteers and an introduction to Slanin, yet his words still garnered much applause from the crowd standing in front of him.

Nearing the end of his remarks, Gosar looked towards the left part of the stage and pointed. ”Now. It is my high honor and distinct privilege to introduce to you the next Prime Minister of the Hrvadan Federation, Lukas Slanin!”

The people roared as Slanin walked out onto the stage along with Mimi and his three kids to the tune of triumphant music. He paused a few times before reaching the stage so the media could take some pictures of him.

As he got to the stage and adjusted the microphone, Slanin smiled and looked at the crowd of people now cheering ”HRVADA! HRVADA! HRVADA!” Slanin cleared his throat and said ”Thank you. Thank you everybody. It’s an honor to be here!” The people calmed down, desperately wanting to hear what he had to say. He shrugged as he cordially proclaimed ”Sorry to keep you waiting, complicated business it’s complicated business!” The supporters roared cheerfully and waved their flags after every sentence he spoke.

”During the car ride here I was on a conference call with the rest of the major parliamentary leaders in Hrvada, and many people—some you’d honestly be surprised by—wanted to congratulate and recognize us, it’s about us, on our historic victory tonight! They sincerely wished us great luck going into the government formation process.”

”Now is the time for Hrvada to bind the wounds of division and to get together. For all individuals across the nation—if you voted Confederation tonight, if you didn’t, or if you didn’t vote at all—it is time for us to come together as one united people!

”I pledge that if God wills me to have the honor to lead this country, I will be Prime Minister for all Hrvadans. This is so important to me!

”For everyone who chose not to support me, and the results show that there are a few…” The crowd laughed at the quip. ”I am reaching out for your sincere guidance, input, and help so that we can work together and unify our great and beautiful nation!”

”I’ve said this from the beginning. Ours was not a campaign, but an incredible and great movement made up of millions and millions of people from all walks of life and all political affiliations, hard working Hrvadan men an women who farm the land, patrol and protect or neighborhoods, spend forty hours a week in the office or factory, or bravely serve in our great armed forces. These people just want a brighter future for themselves and their families! They simply want their government to serve the people, and serve the people it will. Working together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the Hrvadan dream!”

”As a businessman and a politician, I have witnessed firsthand the untapped potential in projects and people all over Hrvada and the world. Tapping this potential is what I want to do for Hrvada! Every Hrvadan will soon know his or her full potential; the forgotten men and women of this nation, will be forgotten no longer!

”In this next term, we are going to fix our country’s crumbling infrastructure by investing billions of Kunas into our broken roads, bridges, harbors, tunnels, airports, schools, and hospitals; and by expanding broadband internet to rural citizens as well as ensuring every Hrvadan has clean drinking water!”

We’re going to reverse Hrvada’s trend towards an aging population by investing massively in families; rewarding young Hrvadans when they get married and rewarding them again when they are touched by the miracle of parenthood!”

”We’re going to take a hard look at the immigration crisis and figure out what the best policy is to stop the boats filled with illegal aliens, drug smugglers, and other low-life criminals.

”In this next term, we’re going to find a solution to the growing drug and opioid epidemic which kills hundreds of Hrvadans every day, a solution to threats against our environment like we saw last month during the PH Endeavor explosion and oil spill, and a solution to the tyranny of the big-tech monopolies. We’re going to make Hrvada great again!” The crowd went wild.

Slanin continued on to thank a number of people who worked with the campaign before he finally concluded his remarks. ”And most importantly, I thank you the people of Hrvada for making tonight possible. If it weren’t for the thousands of volunteers who put on their walking boots and knocked doors for the Confederation and then the millions of people who came out to vote for us on election day, we wouldn’t be here tonight!”

”The road ahead will be difficult and may be filled with some disappointment, but God is with us; and if God is with us, who can be against us! Thank you Hrvada! Thank you!”

As Slanin walked off the stage to cheers of the crowd and the same triumphant music he walked onto the stage with, Gosar approached him with his phone. ”You have to see this.” He worriedly exclaimed as he showed Slanin the headline. ”The Liberals declared victory while you were making your remarks, they say that they expect the President to tap them to form the government… This could be a big problem for us!” Slanin patted Gosar on the back and replied ”Don’t worry about this until tomorrow. It’s two o’clock in the morning, it’s been a long night, and I think we ought to get some rest!”

2021 Hrvadan General Election Results

27 JUNE 2021 15:01 | Hrvadagrad, Hrvada

Hrvadagrad, HRVADA — Earlier this afternoon, the Hrvadan Electoral Commission released preliminary results for the 2021 Hrvadan General Election.

Although authorities have yet to finish counting a small number of absentee and provisional ballots before the results can be officially certified, these ballots aren’t expected to change the overall outcome of the election.

The Confederation surged ten percentage points when compared to last election, winning the votes of millions or Hrvadans seemingly disillusioned with the Republican and Social Democratic parties according to exit polling, becoming the largest voting bloc in the Sabor.

Confederation Party leader Lukas Slanin declared victory last night and called for “unity”, a complete 180 from his usually divisive campaigning that some are criticising as a pivot in the run up to the government formation process.

Shockingly, beating the populist and anti-establishment upheaval in this election, the Liberal party gained a little more than three and a half points when compared to the 2017 election. Analysts attribute this result to the Liberal party’s clear message to affluent suburban voters that they are the only party that will seriously contrast and oppose nationalist and populist sentiment in Hrvada.

Liberal Party leader, Sara Radić also declared victory for her party last night while making it clear to Republicans and Social Democrats in the centrist Onward Hrvada coalition that they would have to make “major concessions” on corruption, monetary policy, foreign affairs, and cabinet appointments if they want to be part of a stable Liberal-led government.

The Greens profited from the ongoing PH Endeavor disaster in which crews are still trying to clean up hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil from the Prijat coast, gaining just about two and a half points when compared to the 2017 election. Although exit polling suggests many of these new Green voters switched over from the Social Democratic party, a large number of Communists concerned with the party’s unclear and outdated environmental manifesto also voted Green this year — minimizing the overall gains for the Left in this election.

The Government formation process in the coming weeks will be interesting; President Danijel Rukavina has the choice to either tap the Republicans or the Liberals who form a coalition along with the Social Democrats and will both command the same number of seats in the new parliament, although choosing between one or the other could come with controversy as Republicans believe they have a mandate as the incumbent party leading the government and Liberals believe they have a mandate that derives from the fact that they garnered a slightly more popular votes than the Republicans. Some analysts suspect that Rukavina may also tap the Confederation thanks to their new largest party status, but others have cautioned against this suspicion due to the party holding less overall seats than the combined Republican-Liberal-Social Democratic coalition as well as a general rule of thumb in Hrvadan politics not allow fringe parties in government.

Overall, thanks to such radical swings and the emergence of new coalitions across Hrvada, last night’s election will certainly forever be seen as a turning point in national politics. The Hrvadan citizenry has a front-row seat to some interesting times.

Party list vote results:
Confederation Party - 20.96% (+10.07%)
Liberal Party - 17.75% (+3.67%)
Republican Party - 17.61% (-10.34%)
Social Democratic Party - 16.27% (-5.61%)
Green Party - 11.75% (+2.4%)
Conservtaive Party - 9.92% (+1.19%)
Communist Party - 5.74% (-1.38%)

For the first time in my life I didn't vote for the Social Democrats, they sounded more like Liberals this year than people who cared about blue collar workers. Here's hoping Slanin kicks out the aliens who are stealing Hrvadan jobs, closes the tax loopholes billionaires abuse, and invests in people not corporations.

Hopefully the Libs manage to form a government and these far-right nuts don't fuck it up; otherwise Hrvada is going down the shitter.

ISC situation II

Postby Attancia » Sun Jun 27, 2021 2:47 pm

International Security Commissariat HQ, Eccata, Mainland Attancia
26th of June, 2021

The day’s work concluded once more. Augustus Lucius drew a heavy sigh as he walked towards his car -- a large, black SUV -- followed by his porter, Justinian. The car was parked neatly beneath a grey concrete roof, sloping upwards in a backwards gradient to reach the platform where Augustus Lucius had lunch. Behind the car was a large road reaching deep into the jungle, guarded by enormous trees on either side. Augustus grabbed the handle and pulled it backwards with a satisfying clack. As per custom, he also opened his porter’s door, and they both got in. There was a one-way window that allowed Augustus to look back onto Justinian, but not the reverse. The electric engine hummed into life with a sound that might have been recorded from a sci-fi movie. In silence, the two set off into the jungle. Looming over them, the flora was a harsh reminder of nature’s pedantic imperialism.

“Justinian.” Began Augustus. “You know what you are to do. This car has been pre-checked for bugs. When I depart and get in Tyrion’s car in three miles, you will drive this car to my house. You will find that you are being followed by Deidre Exazenos’ car. Drive normally until you reach my Eccatan residence, then alert the guards.” He stopped for a second, then looked around the head of his seat at Justinian, concerned.

“I understand, sir.” His servant replied.

“Very good. Then we shall continue.” The car’s engine restarted as the director placed his foot down on the go pedal. They continued through lush forest and verdant bushes, somehow undisturbed. The road was well-maintained, especially for one in the middle of a jungle. As the journey progressed, the jungle became denser and denser, the only signs of civilisation being the road and Protea Energy refuelling stations, the latter of which were also marked with the stamp of the Papacy. Surprisingly clean, as with most government items this far south. The Attancian government was intent on maintaining cleanliness across the nation, leaving nothing to rot; despite the price of renovations, the government viewed them as necessary.

“Justinian, were you ever any good at chemistry?” Augustus asked inquisitively, still staring out the windscreen as he twisted the wheel.

“No sir,” Replied Justinian “though I did excel in mechanical engineering. I worked as an engineer and designer for the navy before coming to serve here.” He finished proudly. After hearing the second-last line, Lucius smiled slightly.

“Interesting. I was never good at any of the sciences, especially biology… my twin brother too struggled with it, but luckily he helped me with physics and engineering. He was very good at those.” He smiled again after saying that, though Justinian was unaware.

“That’s good, sir.”

“It is. Unfortunately he fell into debt and had to move to a government house. I think he’s doing alright now, working as a lecturer at Hexheg. What about your family?” inquired Augustus.

Justinian grimaced audibly. “I don’t really know. I was adopted by the Exazenos family… I never had a proper family. As much as they tried the Exazenoses failed to contain Deidre’s rage. Deidre being the member of your commissariat.” Augustus smiled once more. Tyrion had been right. Just the night before he had left a floppy disk with a voice recording on Augustus’ desk, knowing that he was the only member of the ISC who would have the immediate resources to play it. As a result, Lucius already knew how Justinian would answer, he just needed to test the theory.

“Unfortunate. Anyway, this is the turn off now. I’ll get out into the bushes and get into Tyrion’s car, which has a long scrape on the side, and you can drive this off to my house. Then alert the guards, as you know.” Augustus informed Justinian.

“Yes sir.” Affirmed Justinian. Augustus opened the door and crouched into the undergrowth, making his way to a hidden clearing where Tyrion had managed to park his car. Augustus’ car sped off down the road, swerving dangerously around the ever-so-slightly slanted edges. Tyrion jumped out of the similarly black SUV and motioned for Augustus to get in. With a quick swing, Tyrion pulled himself up to his seat, with Augustus following. Tyrion started the car and quickly crushed through the undergrowth as his director adjusted his seatbelt.

“That took you a while, Tiberius Lucius.” Tyrion remarked as he veered round a corner.

“Sorry, vice-director. My twin Augustus had to take give me his clothes before he took the underground train back to his residence.” Replied Tiberius.

“And did Justinian suspect anything?”

“No.” Tiberius assured Tyrion. “Now, we should continue. Exazenos won’t be far behind.” Tyrion sped up the car as they ventured deeper into the jungle. A kilometre behind, a similarly-fashioned SUV had a GPS tracker on their car, and was following their every move. Deidre Exazenos glared out of the windscreen.

Cabinet Meeting Room, Capital Diſtrict
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Afternoon, Saturday, 26 June 2021

Results from the election a week ago have been certified, and a new National Aſſembly sworn in. This began the next phase, where all parties negotiated with each other attempting to form a coalition making up an absolute majority of deputies. The stadtholder has to appoint a deputy to serve as prime miniſter for an absolute majority of the National Aſſembly to approve, which always follows the announcement of an agreement by some parties. The process may last anywhere from weeks to months, leaving the previous government in charge as the caretaker government. The current government under Thomas Norup and the Progreſſive Union had a lot to look over as just after the election three countries signed the Treaty of St. Alkrionsburg, where they not only agreed to construct a canal on the isthmus separating the continents of Kagu and Ettela, which also created a defensive pact between them, and one of those countries sent threats immediately after. At the same time, Hrvada and Dunfern were holding elections, and the emperor of Logar recently passed away, leaving his 24 year old son in charge.

The caretaker government were once again at a meeting, sitting at a long table with Norup and Stadtholder Richard Melberg at the head. Melberg’s job was to advise the cabinet on their plans, but had no power over them as the head of state, outside being able to appoint the prime miniſter and veto legislation, though in practice those powers were never used.

“Recent actions by the TFVR are extremely concerning.” said Frederick Carr, the Deputy Prime Miniſter of Defence, “and while it seems that they have backed down from threatening Attancia after discussions with Dunferm, they are no doubt simply buying time and will continue their increasingly belligerent actions. Dunferm likely know this as well. And this is not even mentioning ACS and Dodo Republic.”

“The Dodo Republic is a pushover.” said Georgia Pascarelli, the Deputy Prime Miniſter of Foreign Affairs, “I mean, they managed to lose an entire bloody cargo ship and crew to some birds that we then had to track down for them.”

“I thought I forgot my meds when I heard that.” said Andrea Holthusen, the Miniſter of the Navy, “My admiral said the hardest part to believe of all of that was that they were seriously this incompetent. I would have every safety measure imaginable if I was in charge. Speaking of admirals, they chose a 35 year old of all people to be president, who previously became an admiral following 6 years of service.”

“And that is why they are a pushover.” said Pascarelli, “They need foreign agents to deal with cartels and their president who is single at age 35 was quick to fall to TFVR only because they are nearby.”

“Single at age 35? Is he that impotent?” said Carr. The entire room laughed, before he continued, “Regardless, the Dodo Republic is a pushover but TFVR is not, despite their fleet containing modernized battleships”. The two words made Holthusen visibly cringe. Carr continued, “especially with the economic might of the newly created TEA.” The entire room nodded.

“DR really lives up to its name.” Holthusen said, “They have the intelligence of dodos.”

Everyone laughed again. Nicolas Deschanel, the Deputy Prime Miniſter of Economic Affairs heard his interpreter holding back laughter as he translated, and said “Glad my interpreter found that funny.”, which resulted in more laughter in the room.

“Attancia already sent an open letter to DR, but we must send a second.” said Norup, “Unlike Attancia we have little interest in their continent outside of maintaining a balance of power.”

“I concur.” said Pascarelli, “We should attempt to speak with Logar and Dunferm about this as well.”

“We have an official visit scheduled in Logar in a week and a half.” Norup replied, “I propose following that we travel to Dunferm to discuss matters with their government. Any objections?”

The room was silent, broken by Pascarelli, saying “We likely are not going to stay in power for much longer. Our successors may have a different agenda.”

“Arthur Trudeau is the only other likely Prime Minister.” said Norup, “And he shares my stance on rising tensions. The only difference is that he will be more willing to begin talks with Attancia.” Being a French Catholic, the cabinet knew Trudeau would seek better relations with the Pope, despite him also taking increasingly belligerent actions.

“Floris Hutters could be Prime Minister, if he could get other parties on board-” began another minister.

Stadtholder Richard Melberg, who for the most part stayed silent cut him off, saying “That would require AFTFI’s support, and I am not going to appoint a Prime Miniſter from any coalition involving them. Even if AFTFI has a majority of seats. They are a threat to our Republic.”

“If only others can realize that.” Pascarelli said, “Hrvada’s Confederation party is facing an upset victory judging by polls. Their ‘Hrvada first’ foreign policy would mean ignoring growing threats to the global balance of power.”

“That will be concerning,” replied Norup, “They may not because TFVR is not far across the sea. I would not like to ally with Attancia, but better them be strong than TFVR.”

Your Majeſty King Alexander II of Dunferm,

The increaſingly belligerent actions of the Federation of Vostochnyye Ravniny have been a cauſe for concern for the United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands, as is likely the caſe in the Kingdom of Dunferm. We applaud your agreement and deeſcalation of tenſions, but we are concerned they are ſimply buying time to build up their forces. We propoſe an official viſit by Stadtholder Richard Melberg, Prime Miniſter Thomas Norup, Deputy Prime Miniſter of Defence Frederick Carr, and Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgia Pascarelli, to the Kingdom of Dunferm to further discuſs theſe matters.

Honorable
Sara Radić, MP
Cetinski

Mrs. Radić,

Let me wish you my sincere congratulations on your leading the Liberal Party to its historic success last night in the general election!

Your dedication to clean, patriotic, and orderly campaign clearly paid off as the Liberal Party is now the largest in the Onward Hrvada coalition. For this reason, by the power vested in me by the Constitution of the Hrvadan Federation, I am tasking you with the most important job of forming a strong and stable majority in the Parliament of Hrvada.

Dalibor Plaza
Vjetragrad, Prerija, Hrvada
28 July, 13:00 local time

Nikola Dalibor had been a dominant figure in Vjetragrad politics his entire professional life. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became the Social Democratic mayor of Vjetragrad and then eventually an MP for the city in Parliament.

Dalibor walked out to a podium sitting in front of city hall in a plaza named after his dad and looked down at a large number of reporters from local and national media outlets as well as a few Social Democratic party supporters waving red flags. Seven other Social Democratic MPs, mainly economically leftist and socially moderate backbenchers, stood behind him.

The flamboyant MP cleared his throat and started addressing the people in his hoarse voice. ”I just got off a phone call with Leon Adamić and I called him an ‘embarrassment and a loser who managed to lose his own seat.’” The crowd went silent and the Social Democrats there to spectate stopped waving the flags in shock.

”We can’t ignore what happened on the 26th, people in the party finally woke up and realized that Social Democrats don’t give a damn about the little guy! They finally managed to understand that we’re a party for haughty intellectuals like the Liberals!”

”What policies did the national organization campaign on this election season? Giving little kids the ability to cut off their dicks, sending Hrvadan boys overseas to project imperialist and corporate power, tax breaks for the tech companies, replacing workers with people from overseas… How in God’s name is that supposed to help the little guy!”

Offended by the comments, a few Social Democrats walked away however the reaction wasn’t entirely negative as a few people also cheered — a man holding a banner with the logo of the Hrvadan Steelworkers Union jumped up and yelled “So true!”

Dalibor continued after the interruptance. ”That’s not the Social Democratic party I knew. My dad ran this city like a well oiled machine.” An ironic way of putting it considering the historically corrupt Social Democratic machine that ran the city. ”He built steel mills, highways, and skyscrapers as other cities in this province collapsed, lost all their people, and went bankrupt. I continued much of his success when I was Mayor and continue that success as an MP… We did it by listening to the people, not the CEOs or university professors. Now Social Democrats continue to say they’re for the people, but they’re usually the first to give it to the people without providing vaseline!”

”That’s why me and the men and women behind me are leaving the party, will sit in the next session of the Sabor as independents, and will refuse to vote for another centrist government; because we care about everyday people, and the Social Democratic party or the Onward Hrvada coalition is not a vessel to do that!”

”May God save Hrvada from these establishment hacks.”

Government Formation Devolves into Chaos

28 JUNE 2021 16:42 | Hrvadagrad, Hrvada

Vjetragrad, HRVADA — The post-election government formation process devolved into chaos today as multiple events that threaten the Liberal Party’s task to form a strong government were unveiled this afternoon.

First, Nikola Dalibor Jr., former mayor of Vjetragrad and incumbent Sabor Member for the Division of Vjetragrad North announced that he along with several other Social Democrats appalled by the party’s liberal pivot would sit in the parliament as non-partisans and refuse to vote for a traditional Onward Hrvada government. This action alone puts the Onward Hrvada parties four seats short of a majority, forcing Sara Radić to seek outside support for her potential government.

Next, anonymous sources have confirmed that amid growing tension with the Liberal party concerning opposition intra-coalition compromises on corruption and other issues, as well as enragement that they will have to cede the office of the Prime Minister to another party; Republican politicians have entered into discussion with the Confederation Party about the merits of a potential pan-right coalition. This breaks the key unwritten rule of centrist Hrvadan politics to never negotiate with fringe groups.

Republican Sabor Speaker, Frano Broz has scheduled the Liberal confidence vote for July 10th. Analysts say such a quick and unprecedented turnaround on the vote is an exertion of leverage against the Liberals designed to make them potentially give up their demands for the Republican party.

With these developments, that vote is expected to be a tossup.

Your Imperial Majeſty Emperor Adrian I of Logar,

Our government has been concerned following recent events, eſpecially the increaſingly belligerent actions of the Federation of Vostochnyye Ravniny. We wish to discuſs this matter with your government in our upcoming viſit on 7 July. Stadtholder Richard Melberg, Prime Miniſter Thomas Norup, Deputy Prime Miniſter of Defence Frederick Carr, and Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgia Pascarelli ſhall be preſent.

Georgia Pascarelli, Deputy Prime Miniſter of Foreign Affairs of the United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Imperial Palace of Villanova
28 June 2021

On the morning of 28 June, Adrian I of Logar, Courtmaster Veers, minister of the Economy Firmus Maximus, minister of the Foreign Affairs Richard Serum, minister of Communications Robert White, and finally Deputy Courtmaster Sera Winston were all reunited in the Meeting Room. A letter sent by the Furbish was near the Emperor, who was at the window extremity of the large table while other officials were sat near him. As Adrian calmly read the letter and later finished he finally said “well, this is our chance I'd say,” he declared as he hands over the letter to Veers, who read it in a loud voice to other officials.

“But what about our 'human rights abuses', Your Imperial Majesty?” Veers said as everyone in the room laughed out loudly, except for Adrian who simply smiled. “We have a strong military, an excellent, self-reliant economy which we gained as heritage thanks to centuries of geographical isolation, and all of us have a potential enemy in common: This Federation,” Adrian said in response. “Compared to us, they are a very, very progressive people, do you think this will really aim their eyes out of the de facto efficiency of the States General?” asked Winston to Adrian, who quickly answered, “no, I don't think they will. But since the war, Logar and the Furbish Islands enjoyed bilateral economical fruits that have proven to be the best for both our nations,” Adrian made a quick pause, “do you think they would risk the benefits of our trading?” Adrian counter asked the Deputy Courtmaster who thought a little before saying “I don't know, Your Majesty. Maybe they won't”.

An imperial royal guard, who was not wearing the crimson robes of the guard but the black, white, and red tunic and black pants as he carried a carbine, was called by Adrian I when the latter used a simple gesture for him to come near the emperor. “I know that you are doing your job, but would be kind enough to call for Secretary Capri to come here? I really need him right now,” Adrian said while looking at the guard with a smiling face. Upon revering Adrian I, the guard left the room and minutes later Capri was there. “What's thy will, Your Majesty?” Capri asked as he sat down as near as possible to Adrian. Adrian hands over the Furbish letter to Capri, “me, the Courtmaster, the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Defense, and the minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Development shall be present in the meeting that shall take place here at the palace,” Adrian answered. “Should I write something in response?” Capri asked as he was reading the letter. “That it will happen,” Adrian replied. Before anyone could say anything, Adrian declared, “so that's it, now go to work,” as he got up and everyone did as well. The meeting, which was arranged solely for that, had ended at approximately 8 AM.
Your Excellencies of the Government of the Furbish Islands,

His Imperial Majesty the Emperor wishes the best regards and success to each one of you. Adrian I expects to have the meeting at the Imperial Palace of Villanova, counting with the presence of His Imperial Majesty, the Courtmaster and the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Economy, and Industry, Foreign Trade and Development. The Emperor, as well as other government officials, are worried about this screaming issue and are more than happy to have a friendly discussion about such occurrence with the esteemed government of the Furbish Islands.

Northern Dodoian Jungle. Presidential Office and residence

Morning over the rainforest is a beautiful site for anyone who looks at it. The sun shining it’s light clouded by dense fog over rolling hills with a tree caped skyline. The propriety extends a few miles in each direction, the white modern presidential residence in the center.

Waldoon never liked the capital as he always thought it was too busy. A fan of the jungle air, this is where he spends most of his time. As per usual like any day. He wakes up. 6:30 AM every morning, walks downstairs, eats breakfast, and heads off for a morning walk through the propriety hiking trails. This morning, accompanied by the head of the interior.

“Are you alright sir?” Says the rotund interior head trying too keep up in the hot muggy sky. “No why do you ask” is the sharp reply. Waldoon snaps while not even bothering to look behind him. “Wait look! Over there!” Waldoon says again. Pointing to a bamboo tree up ahead. The interior minister makes his way. Stumbling up to Waldoons position. “See that?” The admiral asks excitedly pointing up ahead. “No. I don’t believe I do”. The minster says sweat dripping down his face. Then with a rustle from the trees a huge bright blue bird flutters into the sky. With two comically large green tail feathers trailing behind. “Beautiful isn’t it?” Waldoon comments. Somewhat asking the minster but at the same time not caring about his presence. The minster nods quickly.

The two stand silent for a moment before Waldoon continues walking. The hike would continue for several minutes more before returning to the residence. The two move into the living room. “Would you sit down?” Waldoon gestures to a chair nearby. The minster obliges. “A drink?” Waldoon says grabbing a decanter of brandy from the coffee table in the open air white room.”But it’s ten in the morning Admiral” The interior head says declining. “Well more for me” the president jokes sitting down. “Now. Before you go ahead and tell me the bad news, tell me anything decent” The President states.

“Well. I would assume you enjoy the jungle sir” The minster replies “I too as well like it. The family’s got a house a little while west of here. Near Bambroia”

“Ah nice. Very nice. When I was in the service Bambrioa had a naval academy right up the hill from downtown. Shut down shorty after I left, ya know. The collapse did that sorta stuff” Waldoon states twirling the drink in his hand. Carful not to spill it on his white shirt. “And now for that bad news…”

“Uhm yes. If you haven’t checked the internet it appears the furbish and the Attacians are against our relations with Voss and ACS and the formation of the TEA and have started a soical media campaign against our efforts with claims of the country being a puppet of Vos. Thank god these open letters have been faced with very negative responses, especially Attacia. The Furbish letter was taken more as a joke. As they are usually laughable anyway” The minster would report with a chuckle at the furbish part.

The president sits quietly and takes a sip of brandy before responding. “Why we ever let those two take care of the cargo ship crisis I have no idea, but anyways the Furbish i couldn’t care less about. Ship em a few cars and they’d explode.”

“I would agree sir.” Says the minster opining his computer. “Shall we write a an open letter back?”

“I would assume so. Very rude of them to assume things that they do not no. After all we both know Vos is a great investment.” The president says. “I will start typing”

To whom it may concern

To clarify some issues regarding the formation of the TEA and our new relations with our allies, we can assure you that it as done out of National choice and not influenced by outside sources. I have always found it to be quite rude to make assumptions about people, or nations when you do not have an idea to what is actually going on. The Dodoian Government appreciates your concerns and we did look over them with un-biased thoughts but we have no intention to change our current course of action regarding the recent issues.
Best regards

Admiral Waldoon

Dodoian Executive Office

“Ok then” Waldoon states closing the computer. “It is an open letter therefore all can see, like the ones sent to us. I don’t believe that we need such an extravagant social media campaign like they did, however I’d continue to monitor the situation”

“I think that would be best Admiral” the interior minister says. “Well, I should be going. I have a meeting back at the capital in a few hours. Hell of a drive there as you know”

“Ok then. I will see you soon then” Waldoon says getting up and saluting. The minster returns the favor. The minster then turns to grab his hat, and walks out of the main living room as the butler opens the door to leave. Waldoon watches him go. Then turns to grab a pair of binoculars and walks back outside into the jungle for about an hour more of bird watching as the morning fog lifts.
Birds are government drones. The media has lied to you this whole time. Well, good morning good afternoon good evening nationstates. CDU Announces Coalition Talks With LU And Three More Parties
Following a Week of Silence, Coalition Talks Have Commenced

Furby City, FURBISH ISLANDS — Three days following the certifying of election reſults and the ſwearing in of the newly elected National Aſſembly, Chriſtian Democratic Union leader Arthur Trudeau announced the commencement of coalition talks with the parties compoſing the Liberal Union, and the Conſervative Party, Liberal Party, and Liberty Party.

Progreſſive Union leader and current prime miniſter Thomas Norup has tried but failed to enter talks with the CDU, which only ſupported the previous coalition lead by PU. Before the election, Trudeau ſtated that he did not intend to keep the ſtatus quo following the next election.

PU loſt many ſeats in the election, while CDU and LU gained many, and ſeveral ſmaller parties had more modeſt gains, the biggeſt winner being the Green Union, likely as a reſult of the Hrvadan oil ſpill and riſing temperatures due to global warming.

Alternative for the Furbiſh Iſlands also made gains, while not as much as initially predicted, has been a part of a worrying global trend of increaſing right wing populiſm and nationaliſm.

Immediately following the election, LU leader Floris Hutters invited AFTFI leader Chad Grosderhan to a meeting diſcuſſing a poſſible coalition, which ended after a couple hours with talks going nowhere, and were followed by a ſtatement from Hutters condemning raciſt, miſogyniſtic, homophobic, and xenophobic views held by AFTFI.

Many ſpeculated this meeting was held to expoſe AFTFI’s bigoted views, and for a picture preceding the meeting of Hutters towering over Grosderhan while ſhaking his hand, with Grosderhan having an expreſſion that is hiding diſcomfort while Hutters was ſmiling. The picture went viral almoſt immediately.

The Partij Fête Fieſta Party, a ſatirical party with a manifeſto that includes joke proposals ſuch as ending gun violence by giving guns to everyone and ending raciſm by ostraciſing people until they learn better, announced that they were willing to form a coalition with any party except the parties in the LU becauſe they “do not form coalitions with joke parties”. LU leaderſhip did not comment on this ſtatement when FBC reached out to them.

Northern Isla Sin Valor
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Evening, Friday 11 July 1873

For the whole day Jean de Flandre marched through the Furbish jungle, or sat hidden inside a coach or a train boxcar, finally reaching his destination late that evening. With him were the three men he met in Noorderstein that morning, who navigated through as if they walked along the route many times before and could do so in their sleep. The tears on de Flandre’s grew, filled with dirt and mud from the trip, making him look more like a homeless man who lived on the streets for years than a gendarme who fought a battle only the day before, then escaping, and joining a group of rebels that he was assigned to fight only a month and a half ago. Seeing all gave a different impression of the rebellion than what the general public was told. They had a sophisticated communications and supply line network, making use coaches, friendly railroads, and trails across the short stretches where neither existed, though de Flandre saw men working on improving roads. Life seemed normal in rebel controlled towns, and they were not cut off from the rest of the country, the difference is they were not subject to Furby City laws.

The headquarters of the rebellion was not a network of trenches and tunnels like de Flandre was expecting, it too looked like a normal village, but with guards at roads leading to it. Inside, lit by lanterns like other villages, people seemed to go about their day, some being armed and some were not. The people also were with their families, not only men. “Goedenavond!” shouted a guard seeing the four men approach.

“Goedenavond!” one said back. The three men stepped forward and took turns kissing the guards on the cheek, the standard greeting in the Furbish Islands for all but the most formal occasions. “Here to speak with the commanders. You won’t believe who we just recruited in Noorderstein.” said the man. The two guards looked closer at the man who was standing behind, seeing his torn uniform, a familiar sight from rebels who walked long distances following a fight, but unlike other rebels he wore what looked like an Army of Gendarmerie uniform.

“Bonjour! Captain Jean de Flandre, Gendarmerie.” he said, instinctively searching for his badge.

“Are you really?” said one of the guards, who after hearing about him storming a camp was surprised to see him show up at the headquarters. The men who arrived with him nodded, and de Flandre briefly explained what happened in the past two days. “Come in,” said the guard, “the commanders would love to speak with you!”

De Flandre was lead through the small village. People heard he was there, and all stopped what they were doing to greet him. When he finally made it to a larger building in the center, he once again saw that the rebels were much better organized than he thought. A large map was on one of the walls, showing locations of rebel controlled villages, supply lines, friendly railroads, and army supply lines which they stayed away from. Intelligence they gathered was on the map and pinned to the wall around it. On other walls was information on their numbers and where many were. At the center of the building stood a large table with chairs, but no one was sitting in them. Instead all the people were taking drinks from several large barrels at the side. “Welcome!” said one of them, “Have a drink!”. He handed glasses of beer to de Flandre and the men with him.

“They are the commanders. Elected democratically to help organize our movements.” said one, as he drank from his glass, then walked to the barrel to refill.

The drinking and partying continued, with de Flandre telling the story of the last three weeks and how he went from a Gendarmerie captain to a traitor of the United Provinces and a fugitive. At one point, he asked “Has anyone had the idea to attack Furby City?”

“How much did you just drink?” someone else asked.

“If we were able to organize our supply lines and have a group strike Furby City, that would surely show the people what we’re capable of. And how weak the stadtholder is.”

Ville de Marchand
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Late morning, Sunday, 13 July 1873

Gabriel Dupuis knew he was now in danger. He is a well known and respected lawyer, and owns a small law firm. Three weeks ago, captain Jean de Flandre from the Gendarmerie defied the stadtholder’s orders and stormed a concentration camp. In response his family and maid were arrested. Dupuis tracked down everyone he knew was connected to them to file a case against the Gendarmerie in court, waiting months for an opportunity to file a case against the concentration camps they set up. After no response, he decided to take it to local news. His wife, family, friends, and partners all tried to convince him to think twice. He knew he will likely be arrested while at the same time causing a riot in Ville de Marchand, but something needed to be done. His clients all agreed with the action, knowing they too were likely to be arrested. To make matters worse for the Gendarmerie, his article was published in the front page, along with news de Flandre was defeated in battle but escaped, a letter from de Flandre cursing at a superior demanding his surrender, and news of the arrest of Gabriël van Aarle, a popular Army major general.

A lawyer from Dupuis’ firm appeared at his door with a worried look on his face and said “Gabriel, the Gendarmerie are at the door.”

“Tell them they are not allowed in without a warrant.”

“I did.” he said, as it was what all lawyers were required to do by Dupuis, “but-”

He was unable to finish as they heard a crash. “FREEZE!” shouted a voice from the ground floor in French but with a heavy English accent, “Where is Gabriel Dupuis?!”

“Do you have a warrant?” replied someone.

“I told you I do not need a fucking warrant! Get down and tell me where is Gabriel Dupuis!” responded the voice. Silence followed, either because no one understood his combination of French and English or were too afraid to response. It was short lived as several sets of footsteps walked in and sounded like they were ransacking the floor.

Dupuis at the time wrote down four names and three addresses and gave it to the lawyer. “If they don’t arrest you, have someone go to all three if these places and warn those people that they are in danger. If they weren’t arrested already.” The lawyer nodded as Dupuis trailed off. Dupuis was not concerned about his firm, everyone was just as capable as he was and knew who will take over should anything happen to him. He did not fear for his life either, knowing his death would cause even greater riots.

Suddenly three gendarmes holding sabers appeared before the entrance to Dupuis’ office. After one look at his desk, displaying his name, one pointed his sword at him and said “Stand up, you are under arrest.”

The other lawyer looked at Dupuis who nodded, then headed for the door saying “Sorry, about to go on my lunch.” They did not seen care or even notice him squeezing through and walking at the door holding three notes.

“What am I under arrest for?” Dupuis asked.

“Attempting to disrupt the peace, slander against the Gendarmerie and stadtholde, fraud. Do you want to add resisting arrest to the list?” said the gendarme, taking a step inside the office and pointing the saber at Dupuis.

“Why fraud?” asked Dupuis, expecting the gendarme to say the charges he brought up against the Gendarmerie were false, even though he stated in the newspaper that he was not charging his clients anything.

“I am not a judge, now stand up!”

Dupuis stood up, hoping the rest had time to run away.

Dominic Drumpf Station, Furby City
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Noon, Tueſday, 15 July 1873

An FSM train pulled into the platform and the passengers poured out. Machiel Zonnenberg hated everything about the station, from its terrible lighting inside, to a plain but large facade meant to invoke a sense of fear unlike other train stations, including ones owned by FSM, or the Furbish Railroad Company, a railroad run by the Army on their tracks. Machiel made his opinion of it known every time he visited, and Laurien, his wife, was ready to hear it again, though he stayed silent. They walked through the middle of the all too familiar rush of passengers, taking refuge behind a set of stairs while people walked all around them. “Machiel, don’t do this. It is far too likely for something to go wrong and you will be hanged right here.” said Laurien, as she looked into his eyes.

“I have to.” said Machiel, “that or we live under a tyrant who-”

“There you are.” said Clayton Klempner, finding them behind the staircase, “Now let’s go to the meeting point”.

Four days ago Laurien was at her house, well aware of current events by local newspapers which published stories that would get national newspapers in trouble with the stadtholder. Out of nowhere, her husband, an Army brigadier general and second in command of one of the two divisions comprising the Army, arrived, being sent on leave early. He looked sick when he returned. He said everything that happened in the past week, a captain who stormed a concentration camp was defeated by mercenaries hired by the stadtholder, and for his role in aiding Machiel’s commander was arrested, replaced by an officer who previously served under his command and who he hated. The rest of Machiel’s officers wanted him to take a week off. Two days later Klempner, a retired general and adviser to the stadtholder who Machiel last spoke with four years ago, appeared at his house with news from Furby City. Multiple officers, most who were not native English speakers, planned a coup against the stadtholder as a response to recent events, and wanted Machiel on board. Despite Laurien’s protests, he agreed, they took the next train to the capital.

Laurien knew it was no use convincing Machiel to change his mind. She chose to board the train hoping to convince him to stop, but throughout the whole ride he gave the same response, a sentence said by Martijn van Riemsdijk nearly seventy years earlier when fighting against a colonial power, and by the Gendarmerie captain to his superior before storming the concentration camp, would it be better dying fighting for freedom or while cowering at the hands of the enemy. Having no more choice, she held Machiel’s hand as he followed Klempner through the streets of Furby City, boarding a horsecar which took then to the Capital Diſtrict. During the whole ride Machiel and Klempner checked to see that their revolvers and sabers were not taken. Klempner also discussed code the officers agreed on. The three then left the horsecar as it reached its destination walked into the Army headquarters, down its narrow corridors, to a conference room. Klempner then knocked on the door, and immediately someone in a Furby City English accent says “Come in!”

Klempner’s eyes widened, his face turned pale, his jaw dropped slightly, and he broke into a sweat. He turned to Laurien and Machiel and said “Do not worry about me. Get the hell out.” They ran down the corridor, and after running down a staircase, Klempner, with his heard pounding, turned the other way.

Sire,

We are delighted to receive your acceptance of our invitation. We trust that your government has received the communiqués from our Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding our extended illness, and passed them along to your esteemed person. While we again offer our most sincere apologies for the delay, we also know that something so universally understood as ill health cannot shake the long-standing bonds between our great nations.

With that being said, it is my understanding that our governments have agreed on a date of Wednesday, July the Seventh for your arrival in Oshkosh. We eagerly await your arrival, and with it the reaffirmation of our mutual commitment to the bonds of peace, prosperity, trade, and fraternal goodwill. We look forward as well with great anticipation to your induction into the Order of St. Ludowig of Grünental.

I have the honor to remain, Sire, Your Majesty’s most humble servant.

Augustus Lucius’ Government Residence, Middle Eccata, Attancia
26th of June, 2021

Augustus’ car screeched to a halt as Justinian the porter swerved around a corner into the large courtyard. The road he had just come through wound through a large garden of towering palm trees, spreading bushes, and vibrant flowers. Behind the corner Justinian just drove through, there was a large stone-and-wood fence surrounding the courtyard where he parked. At the back of the courtyard stood the house. It was an old building, especially for one that had survived in this climate. However, due to its hard-nosed construction and durable materials, the baroque mansion survived. Justinian parked the car and climbed out, jumping down onto the gravel below. It made a crish sound as he walked to the grand door that stood in the centre of the building, in between two pillars that rose up to a slight overhang. He rapped on the panelled entrance three times before being greeted.

“Hello Justinian, do come inside.” Answered Augustus’ butler as they both walked in.

“Thank you. I must see the guards, fast.” Justinian informed the porter.

The butler grinned. “That won’t take long. Augustus barely got home two hours ago, but he made it clear that you should see them immediately.”

“Augustus? He got home?” Justinian questioned, flustered, as they walked through the foyer. “But I saw him go with Tyrion Marcus at that same time-” He was cut off.

“That’s because you’re under arrest, Justinian, for conspiring in murder against director Augustus Lucius of the ISC.” Decreed the butler. Four heavily armed guards dashed into the foyer and surrounded Justinian, grabbing his arms and kicking his legs from underneath him. He screamed as his limbs were wrenched from the floor. The guards grasped him tightly and dragged him indoors. One drew a blade. He quickly slashed at Justinian’s chest, simply slicing the flailing man’s shirt.

“Do you have any weapons on you?!” shouted the knife-bearer.

Justinian meekly answered “N-no, of course n-not. I was sent to… distract you.”

“That’s what we thought… and more.” Said a familiar voice. Augustus Lucius was walking down the glossy raw-marble stairs that led into the main room. A grand room, it was luxuriously decorated and finished with a crystalline chandelier. The light blinded Justinian as he looked up to see his director, smiling smugly. “As you told my brother earlier today, you were adopted by the Exazenos family. That was truthful. But you lied about your relationship with Deidre.” Augustus laughed as he kicked Justinian’s side, making the man lurch.

“What do you know?” Justinian struggled out as he winced and whined.

Augustus smiled again. “Tyrion has been keeping a profile on you for the last month. He had installed bugs around the facility at my behest. I wasn’t on to anything, just wary of intruders following international tension.” Justinian looked at him, tears in his eyes. “But Tyrion also managed to swat a fly. He noticed that you and Deidre left work every day at the exact same time distance from each other: twenty minutes. He even noted to my brother, today, that earlier this week, Deidre had to leave in the middle of an important but dragged-out meeting in order to leave exactly twenty minutes after you. He purposefully set the meeting up, by the way.” Augustus laughed again as he saw the horrified state of the porter’s face. “Tyrion knew there was a clearing exactly twenty minutes away if you travelled at exactly 60kmph, 60kmph being the speed limit. Naturally, Tyrion went to investigate and set up bugs. He recorded you and Deidre discussing an assassination plot against myself.”

“How did… how? How could Tyrion tell you? All the emails in the facility are monitored. And how’re you even here?” Justinian murmured.

Augustus Lucius grinned. “It’s simple. You didn’t drive me to Tyrion’s car today. You drove my twin brother, Tiberius Lucius. Tyrion told him all of this in the car today. I received this information barely two hours ago as I got off the train that took me here. My brother used his laptop to update an website we made in university, then emailed me the name of the website, prompting me to check it. Because he isn’t a member of the ISC, his laptop didn’t run off of the network nor was it being tracked. Nobody bar me knew of what he did on the web. Clever, isn’t it?

“Sly bastard.” Justinian muttered.

“I didn’t devise this plan. I just followed Tyrion’s orders, which he gave me in a meeting here.” Augustus looked around the room. “I didn’t understand most of it until a few hours ago. I just knew I had to attend a meeting as normal, swap clothes with my brother, who was hiding in the showers, then leave via the underground train. They carried out the rest.”

“Fine… but… but what of Deidre?”

“He believes I am in the car with Tyrion, as you did. He’s bringing a cohort of his ISC agents in his own car to chase down Tyrion and my brother, who have lead him to their house. I’m here safely while Deidre is lead to his doom.” Augustus smirked.

Road to Tyrion Marcus’ Residence, North-west Eccata, Attancia
26th of June, 2021

The SUV grumbled along the dirt path, kicking up dust clouds behind it. On either side of the raised path were large fields of elephant grass, extending for several metres before melting into the jungle. A hundred metres ahead, the road met Tyrion’s house.

“Deidre’s car is forty metres behind ours and around the corner, twenty metres behind the IED. They’re very slow, but that’s not suspicious: there’s a very disformed piece of road in front of them, so they’re adjusting their speed.” Tiberius Lucius analysed.

“And have you activated the pressure sensor?” Tyrion questioned.

“Yes, I have. Providing my brother’s explosive works, we shouldn’t have any trouble.”

Tyrion nodded gratefully. “Good. They should be just above it now.”

“They’re two metres away. One. Detonation now.” Tiberius peered worriedly through the back window, though the dust trail left by the SUV shrouded their pursuers. “Where is the explosion?”

“Tiberius, that thing should’ve exploded now!” cried Tyrion.

“Vice-director, I think that it failed-” Lucius was cut off. A bullet shattered through the back windscreen and narrowly missed him. “Oh shit!”
“Hell be to you, Augustus.” Cursed Tyrion as he slammed his foot down on the extended pedal. The car lurched forward towards the house. Another bullet flew through Tyrion’s chair head, above the dwarf’s skull. Tiberius flicked a switch on the dashboard, dispensing small pointed triangles to rupture Deidre’s car tyres.

Deidre’s car screamed to a halt in front of the spikes. “Dismount!” he ordered to his agents.

“Yes sir.” They shouted in unison as the unit dismounted. All were heavily armed: They wore light but strong Kevlar shirts and trousers, and each agent was equipped with a Glock 17 and an M4 Carbine. Deidre also dismounted – having been an agent himself once – and grabbed a Glock. He jumped down onto the gravel and sprinted forward with his fighters. They manoeuvred around the spikes and continued pursuing the car, which was gaining distance on them.

“Hit the tyres. They won’t escape.” Deidre ordered again.

“Yes sir.” They repeated. Bullets whistled towards the escapees’ tyres, flattening them instantly.

Back in Tyrion’s car, Tiberius was quickly loading a gun. Trundling along through a dirt track wasn’t ideal for it, but he had to make use of his limited time. He managed to slide the magazine in. The window slid down with the flick of a switch. Tiberius glanced in the wing mirror, spotting the agent that was leading the way. His heart flickered. He shoved the gun out the window, looked the soldier in the eye, and caught him before he could raise his gun. The agent twisted in a spiral then collapsed. Tiberius ducked back inside as a slew of bullets flew in his direction. He passed the gun to Tyrion who repeated the same task in his window, downing another agent. Tiberius slammed another button on the dashboard, dispensing smoke grenades and tear gas from their unmoving car. He and Tyrion jumped out and ran towards the house, as he called the guards on his phone. Bullets whizzed and strung around them. He felt a jarring pain in his heel, and he nearly tripped over. Tyrion grabbed him as he stumbled, then they both continued running. The house was getting closer now. One bullet cracked past his ear then continued to smash into a window. He could see trails of smoke and dust following the projectiles. The door of the house suddenly burst open. Swarms of guards were tumbling out, armed.

Tyrion bolted as fast as he could, barely being able to grasp as Tiberius’ legs. He was closer to his house now, and to his guards. “Damn you, Augustus.” He thought as he felt a searing ache in his shoulder. “Why did we entrust you to designing that explosive…” he didn’t have time to consider that no-one else in their circle had chemistry experience. The smoke behind them was starting to fade, so Deidre’s agents would get a better shot. Tyrion whipped around and fired several shots into the distance, kicking up dust clouds and hitting an agent’s calf. His guards were running out to them, barely ten metres away. Several of them carried guns, and began firing into the pursuing agents. Tyrion could see their faces clearly as they rushed to embrace him and Tiberius to take them inside: Lucas, his butler, Seneca, one of his maids, and the rest of his own guard. As Lucas reached to bring him to the door, Seneca attending to Tiberius, he felt a stab in his back. He whipped around to see Deidre crouched twenty metres away, holding a Glock. As his consciousness faded, he could hear muffled yells and saw Deidre’s body go flying into the elephant grass. His vision became blurry and slowly faded. The last thing he perceived was a thud as he was laid down in the foyer.

A letter to the Antarctic Circle States from PROTEA ENERGY plc.

To The Excellent Government of the Antarctic Circle States,02.VII.21

PROTEA ENERGY (therein referred to as “we”, “our”, and “PROTEA ENERGY”) wishes to initiate construction of underwater electrical lines to the Antarctic Circle States (therein referred to as the Antarctic Circle States or the ACS) in order to provide reliable, renewable, and cheap power. After initiating, we wish to be granted access to the wholesale energy market in the ACS, selling energy to distribution network operators in order to provide the aforementioned energy to the citizenry of the ACS.

Construction of the lines shall be managed by the Attancian government in co-operation with PROTEA ENERGY, should the Excellent Government consent.

We view this proposition as beneficial to both parties, considering the hostile climate of the Antarctic Circle States makes domestic energy production costly and inefficient. PROTEA ENERGY has the necessary resources and pre-constructed infrastructure to maintain such an important venture. In addition, our energy is entirely clean with net-zero emissions across every field covered by us and our subsidiaries. Based on the previously established principles, we are certain that PROTEA ENERGY will be one of the cheapest – if not the cheapest – energy corporations operating in the Antarctic Circle States. A brilliant step towards our shared future.

Due to Attancian law, monopolisation is naturally restricted. Should PROTEA ENERGY reach a market share of >40%, PROTEA ENERGY shall be subject to Attancia’s anti-trust laws: we shall not attempt to monopolise, nor shall we attempt to abuse our position as a dominant company, nor shall we attempt to act solely to adversely effect competitors.

[OOC: more details that don’t really matter can be included here. If you have a question that I answer later, pretend the answer is here.]

Regards,
PROTEA ENERGY plc.

Kerensky was trialed and executed for treason and for planning a Major and Desasterous War against The Governement of Dunferm and Attancia. He Also planned on manipulating the markets of raw and manufacturated goods to cause a second un-winable Cold War.

For the Reasons of wanting to resurect the USSRK, the Armies of the Federation decided that it was time to restore the Vostoian Dream.
However, it seems that several of treacherous sc*ms decided that it was time for a second October revolution. The Eastern Teritories decided to declare their independence and proclaimed the ‘Sibirskaya Rabochaya Respublika’.

Now, the Federal Governement knows that those treacherous B*stards will receive this very own telegram. To those B*stards, consider the folowing as an Ultimatum:

National Aſſembly Office Building, Capital Diſtrict
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Morning, Tuesday 29 June 2021

“Floris, that was a great move on your part.” said Arthur Trudeau laughing as he shook Floris Hutters’ hand, “Grosderhan’s and AFTFI’s reactions to that was priceless.”

“Thank you.” said Hutters, “They really were. They freaked out over social media and others loved it too, including Thomas.” Both men laughed as they entered the room, which has a long table, and used only once every three years for negotiations between parties for forming coalitions. No one sat at the head of the table, Trudeau, being not only the leader of the French speaking Parti Chrétien-Démocrate but of the whole Christian Democratic Union, sat closest to the head at one side, and to his side were the leaders of the rest of the parties in the CDU. Hutters sat across from him, next to the leaders of the parties in the Liberal Union, which he was the leader of. At the very end sat the leaders of the Liberal, Conservative, and Liberty parties. This was the first day of negotiations that would likely take weeks if not months, if none of the parties stop in the middle. They barely held a majority of National Assembly seats, and any party leaving would cause the coalition to lose it.

“TFVR’s actions are growing more concerning.” Trudeau said, “They have ACS and the Dodo Republic firmly in their grip. The latter clearly treated our letter as a joke, as seen by social media and their response.”

“Did you expect better from a 35 year old leader? He clearly is too blind to notice he is being manipulated. Then accuses us of making assumptions without knowing the full story” said Chloe Santolaria, the leader of the Spanish speaking Partido Demócrata Cristiano. Her statement was followed by some laughter.

“He is also unmarried at age 35 and was single for the past decade. Poor bastard probably spends more time looking at birds than doing something useful.” said Scott O’Flaherty, the leader of the Liberty Party, which was followed by more laughter.

“As many officials have already stated, they are a pushover. All they are able to do is send us a car that’s not going to fit on our roads.” said Hutters, which was followed by laugher again. He continued, “We do have leverage over over DR through the numerous rail and bus lines Furbish companies like FSM operate, and leverage over ACS and TVFR through high speed railroads being built and trains supplied by Furbish companies, and the nuclear power plants powering the canal, which are also being designed and built by Furbish companies.”

“We need to leave all options on the table with TFVR and the rest of TEA.” said Trudeau, “That may mean cooperating with Attancia and using our leverage against the three countries.”

“As much as I wish to avoid working with Attancia, better them than have a powerful TFVR.” replied Hutters.

Gendarmerie Headquarters, Capital Diſtrict
The United Provinces and Territories of the Furbiſh Iſlands

Noon, Tueſday, 15 July 1873

General Ignatius Riſewell walked down the corridor from the telegraph room. He made several decisions that he knew may get him in trouble, but had no better choice. The Gendarmerie was organized into districts each assigned a company or more, with more gendarmes able to be deployed in any province needed, which worked usually. In the past few months however, Riſewell needed to consolidate districts to have more available gendarmes, not to fight rebels but to set up concentration camps for minorities, under orders of the stadtholder. One captain then defied orders and stormed a concentration camp, and taking his company with him. They were all captured by mercenaries, but the captain escaped. The stadtholder ordered the captain be hunted down without destroying the rebellion. Riſewell sent two companies to an officer in the north for the task, and let him hire whatever mercenaries he needed. At the same time, he pulled companies from throwing people in concentration camps to riot control in the north, and riots did break out following the arrest of a popular general. If the stadtholder looked into anything, Riſewell knew his career would be over, through no fault of his own.

“General Riſewell!” said a man in what looked like a Gendarmerie officer uniform running down the corridor.

“If this is not important, get out!” Riſewell shouted.

“There is a coup.” he said, while panting.

“What?!”

“Several officers have gathered here and are planning to kill the stadtholder. I have names.” he said, holding a paper, with a list of names of officers, most of then not being English.

“There the fuck are they now?” screamed Riſewell, taking out his revolver.

“In a conference room. I will show you-”

“Follow me, we are getting some gendarmes.”

Riſewell returned to the corridor with eleven more gendarmes, and major Mildred Hutchinſon, the officer who alerted him about the coup, who was in command of the Gendarmerie in much of eastern Isla Sin Valor. He lead them to the conference room. He said “They have a specific knock and code-”

“I don’t give a damn!” screamed Riſewell as he drew his revolver and signaled for the other gendarmes to do the same. He threw the door open and shouted “Everyone freeze, you are under arrest!”

Eight officers stood in the room, who immediately froze. Seeing Riſewell pointing his revolver at them, and more armed gendarmes rushing in, some picked up their own weapons, dropping them on the table and putting their hands in the air. “Who the fuck-” said an officer near the front, then noticed Hutchinſon standing by the door. “Traitor!” he shouted as he lifted his revolver and firing once, hitting Hutchinſon in the chest, then threw it in front of him. Hutchinſon fell almost instantly, hitting the ground behind him. The gendarmes immediately fired back.

“Stop, stop!” Riſewell shouted, and they did. No one else was hurt as Gendarmerie revolvers were usually loaded with two blank rounds before live rounds. Some of the officers in the room looked equally shocked as Riſewell and the gendarmes with him. They had little time to react as they walked in handcuffed the eight officers and pushed them against the wall.

One gendarme stayed back, taking a look at Hutchinſon. “He’s dead.” he said.

“Bloody hell.” said Riſewell under his breath, as he thought of his next plan. Only twenty seconds ago just before he threw the door open already felt like hours ago. Now he needed to figure out which officer to inform about Hutchinſon’s death, because he needed a replacement, and so do the eight officers who were lined up against the wall of the conference room. “Wait, how many did he say there were.” Riſewell thought, as he searched Hutchinſon’s pockets until he found the list. “There are eleven names on this list.” he said, “One of them is here, eight are in that room, that leaves two-”. He stopped for a moment, looking up from the list at the eight officers then back to it. “I bloody knew it.” he said, “Clayton Klempner and Machiel Zonnenberg are the ones we’re missing. I warned the stadtholder those two would be a problem.”

“I should’ve asked that gendarme what their code words were.” Riſewell thought to himself, looking back at the room and throwing the list to the floor. “You two” he said, pointing at two gendarmes, “you’re coming with me. The rest of you, make sure none of them escape, get that corpse in here and clean up. Close the door when you’re done and check out anyone who knocks, in case Klempner or Zonnenberg show up.”. Riſewell turned to the corridor and saw another man wearing an Army uniform who looked like he had a full view of the events that unfolded. His face lacked any expression, but Riſewell could see several different expressions in his eyes which told him everything he needed to know. Every gendarme was trained on how to read facial expressions which typically gave away liars. “You, what is your name?” Riſewell shouted, seeing the soldier starting to walk away.

“Leopold Fitzgerald.” he said nervously.

“You will not tell anyone what you just saw.” said Riſewell.

He nodded and turned back. Riſewell walked the other way with his gendarmes, looking for Stadtholder Dominic Drumpf to inform him of the coup. He was in his residence, just a short walk away, but the walk back felt excruciating as Drumpf walked at a much slower pace and needed to stop after every flight of stairs to catch his breath. As they finally approached the room, they heard footsteps, as if someone was running towards them. “Stop” said Riſewell, “draw your guns.”. He drew his and the two gendarmes did the same. Even if it was not one of the officers involved in the coup, there was no good reason for why someone needed to run inside that building. The footsteps soon got closer and someone turned a corner to them, and sure enough, it was Klempner. He was a retired general, and still wore his uniform, but currently served as a military adviser to the stadtholder. “Clayton Klempner” said Riſewell as he stepped forward, “How are you?”

“It is a hot day today-” he said.

“Do not lie to me!” Riſewell shouted, “We just arrested eight of your officers who plotted to assassinate the stadtholder. Arrest him.”

The two gendarmes walked to Klempner as he froze. “Eight officers? There were ten of-”

“QUIT LYING!” Riſewell shouted again, “There are eleven of you. Major Hutchinſon exposed your plot before being shot dead by one of your officers. Now tell me, where is Zonnenberg?”

“I do not know.” said Klempner calmly as his hands were being cuffed behind his back. He then noticed Drumpf standing behind him. Knowing he was going to be arrested anyway, Klempner wanted to say every insult he could think of at Drumpf, but decided to stay quiet.

“Do not lie to me.” Riſewell said as he walked up next to Klempner, “Zonnenberg was not supposed to go on leave when he did. He clearly planned on going here to help in your plot. Now do you want to cooperate and avoid being hanged for aiding in treason and murder?”

Klempner stayed silent.

“He’s going into the conference room with the rest.” Riſewell finally said.

“Riſewell, they’ve already given us a martyr. We don’t need to do the same to them.” said Drumpf. Riſewell nodded.

Elsewhere in the building Fitzgerald walked to the entrance after getting everything he needed. He could not get what he saw previously out of his head. He was walking and heard gunshots, then saw an officer lay dead while others stormed a conference room. They included Riſewell, who Fitzgerald remembered well though Riſewell did not seem to remember him at all. Out of nowhere two people turned from a corridor and bumped into him. “Sorry.” said a woman, was on the left, and holding the hand of a man in an Army officer uniform. He looked like he wanted to continue running.

“Watch where you are going.” Fitzgerald muttered in East Pomeranian, his native language.

Hearing that, the man stopped and turned. “You speak Pomeranian?” he asked in Pomeranian.

“I do.” Fitzgerald replied, “What is going on?”

“There was an attempted coup against the stadtholder I was informed of but it seemed as though everyone involved was arrested and they may be looking for me.” the man replied.

“I just saw some gendarmes break into a conference room. One of them was shot dead after someone called him a traitor. Riſewell lead that group and he said he was looking for Klempner and Zonnenberg after he pulled a list from the guy who was shot dead, then saw me and told me not to say a thing.”

“Shit.” said the man as he turned to the woman, then turned back to Fitzgerald. “I am brigadier general Machiel Zonnenberg, this my wife Laurien.”

“I am Leopold Fitzgerald, locomotive engineer at the Army transport corps.” said Fitzgerald.

“Great to meet you.” said Machiel as he saluted, then turned and ran away with Laurien.

“Why did you do that?” Laurien asked as they continued to run through the building.

“This man gave us some important information.” Machiel replied.

“No, joining in on the whole coup. We’re at large now and will get hanged if they catch us.”

“If captain de Flandre managed to escape and join up with the rebels we will be able to too.”

“And live hiding out for the rest of our lives, probably never seeing our kids or anyone we know again.”

“They were going to arrest us sooner or later anyway, if it’s not now they will think of plenty of other reasons. Also if they had a list there was no way Klempner could have told them if I was or was not joining in, so they would arrest us regardless.”

Laurien did not reply. They were already outside. A horsebus stood just outside, and Laurien and Machiel were able to jump on board just before it left. Machiel fished out several coins from his satchel which he handed to the driver. They did not know where they were going, and stayed silent until Machiel noticed a store that sells wigs and fake beards. “Anyone will easily recognize me.” he said.

“Especially with your uniform.” Laurien replied. Machiel said nothing as he quickly grabbed multiple different colored beards and wigs. As he walked out, he noticed a train station just across the street.

“We’re taking the first train out of here, doesn’t matter where.” Machiel said. They walked in the station together, a large brick building served by several privately owned railroads going south or east. A large departure board showed the next train was leaving in ten minutes. “That train is headed to Ville de Bergeron. We can easily get on a ferry there and go somewhere else.” he said.

“And if they start looking for us?” asked Laurien.

“They have no idea where they are or that we know they’re looking for us. They’ll probably check our house first anyway.” replied Machiel. The line at the ticket desk was not long. Machiel spent this time fishing out more coins. He then pulled out several pieces of paper, took a look at them, and said “Holy shit.”

“What is it?” Laurien asked.

“I have certificates worth hundreds if not more guilders in gold. I thought I lost them.”

“Where did you get all that gold?”

“From Hrvadan barges, but that’s not important-”

“Next!” said a man at an empty ticket counter,

“Two tickets to Galway” Machiel said.

“That would be-” said the man, but was unable to finish as Machiel placed several coins at the table. He counted them, then gave two tickets, and Machiel and Laurien made their way to the train which was sitting at the platform. Machiel said “We’re getting off at Ville de Bergeron and taking the next boat anywhere. We can exchange these for gold at our destination.”

The Aces Tale: The Lighthouse War #1

03/07/2021
Today’s context:

3rd of July 2021 was the expiration date of the 2nd of July ultimatum. At Midnight, the provisional governement declared war on the Siberian Worker’s Republic. The SWR declared the independence of the Western and Eastern Territories CNR’s the prior day, but by 1:00AM, the Western National Republic declared it’s independence and proclaimed itself has the true legetimate governement of Kagu, at 2:00AM, the WNR declared war on the two others.

Yazov immediately declared war and mobilised the armies of the Federation, including the National Guard. The National Guard was the citizen army of the federation, but a heavy weaponised guard. Today and Onwards we will follow the war stories of a Air Squadron of the National Guard: The II. National Guard Air Wing.

3:00AM, Alkrionsburg Airfield: II. National Guard Air Wing HQ, room 234A: The Briefing Room.

Air Brigadier Conrad Yakolev (II. NGAW Cmdt): « Airmen ! Sit down for the briefing »

The Recorded Briefing: « Comrades, children of the nation and god himself. The Duty is arround: the blessed duty of defending the motherland.

Since midnight, several treacherous factions declared independance from the motherland declaring the rightful governement as illegetimate. Comrades, this is it. If we fail it is a certain return of the USSRK or a Dictatorship.

Comrade Yazov hereby orders all Loyalists to march on the Rebell sc*m. The II. NGAW with their JAS-39´s and their Yak-130´s are to set sail towards the Eastern Territories. The II. NGAW is ordered to search and destroy enemy light aircrafts designated as hostiles on their IFF’s, whilst the JAS-39´s maintain and secure Air Superiority, the Yak-130´s are to finish off any straglers. The Mission coordinates will be communicated only to your superiors for security reasons, good luck comrades, may god be on our side »

Air Brigadier Conrad Yakolev (II. NGAW Cmdt): « Alright to your planes now! »

8:00AM, over the Eastern Sea: aproaching the designated mission area

AWACS Mothergoose One (A-50EI): « Alright, radio silence lifted. Start Operation Klagenfurt. »

DownLevel One (JAS-39): « Alrighty... listen up squadron, stay focused and follow the engagement guidelines, remember if enemy fighters pass throught here our light CAS formation can’t finish the work »

three JAS-39 descend from the clouds, one doing a barell roll

DownLevel One (JAS-39): « God f*ck me, Mobius One, two and three the hell ?! »

Mobius One (JAS-39): « Don’t worry Papabear, we got this »

AWACS Mothergoose One (A-50EI): « Stay focused, enemies inbound: outdated MiG-21Bis, II. NGAW intercept !»

the II. NGAW 45 Grippen scrambled and intercepted the 15 MiG-21Bis sent by the rebells. A dogfight broke and during 10 minutes the sky caught fire whilst the rebell got massacred.

Throughout the day, 40 MiG-21Bis were shot down for only 4 Grippens. The Bombing mission was done, the Rebell infrastructure in the East was now destroyed.

The Situation is now under controll in the skies, but this was only the begining of... the lighthouse War...

to be continued...
