Proposed Name of the Trade Zone: Mèrcala-Lubiar Economic Zone
Location of the proposed Trade Zone: Almat Island
Size of the proposed Trade Zone: 450 km2
Population currently residing in the area of the proposed Trade Zone: 4200
Brief description of the proposed Trade Zone, preferably containing information about its geography, climate, history, natural resources available etc.: For centuries Almat has served as a nexus of trade, facilitating the movement of goods between the Oano Island Chain in the South Tagwaran Sea, the Lethen Islands in the west, and the Tagwaran mainland. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Almatians were famed shipbuilders, leading to the island's annexation by the Heledane Republic. When Heledane joined Charellia in the early nineteenth century, Almat followed. With the advent of the steamship, Almat declined in importance, but saw a surge of economic activity in the mid-twentieth century with the construction of the Mèrcala Naval Base. Since the base shut down in 2005, Almat has once again gone into economic decline.
The government of Charellia proposes that Mèrcala base and its surrounding area be converted into a Lubiaran Trade Zone. The base already has most of the infrastructure in place to support a trade zone, including housing sufficient for several thousand people and a functional, if somewhat dilapidated, seaport and airport. Nearby cities include, Piraea and Tiran, these being Charellia's largest, and third largest cities for international trade respectively.
Almat has a temperate maritime climate. Although deforestation has been a significant problem in the past, conservation efforts over the past thirty years have largely been successful in restoring the ecosystem. Fisheries account for most the island's current economic output, supplemented by some agriculture and tourism. The island's approx. 4200 residents, most of whom live on the southern side, are predominantly rural with the only other major settlement being the town of Tirevol Point, which is also home to the island's civilian airport.

Size of the proposed Trade Zone: 300 square miles

Brief description of the proposed Trade Zone, preferably containing information about its geography, climate, history, natural resources available etc.:
Located on Lorrana's west coast, Salence Village is Lorrana's largest port city and trade hub. Salence Village connects Lorrana to the rest of the world through its well known shipping port. As well, the headquarters for most of Lorrana's companies are located in Salence Village. A good ways south from tourist city Ribi (and southwest of capital Lorrana City), Salence Village has a much more energetic and productive vibe. Salence Village was first established three hundred years ago as a place to trade with Shango, an island nation which has water borders with Lorrana. Salence Village, like much of Lorrana, is part of a tropical rainforest climate zone. In Salence Village, there are two seasons. Wet season is the first six months of the year (note that in Lorrana the year starts in March) and dry season is last six months of the year. Temperatures are pretty much the same all year round, with the average daily low/high being 73 and 82 Fahrenheit, respectively.

Brief description of the proposed Trade Zone, preferably containing information about its geography, climate, history, natural resources available etc.: This Coastal area is home to a variety of ports and shipping lanes that are used as the major arrival point for goods being transported through Marajarbian soil. That area is always pretty busy, with new immigrants and tourists arriving by the thousands every day, and hundreds of exports and imports arriving from nations that have acquired good diplomatic relations with us. Several defenses have been set up to deter invaders, and several warehouses are in the area, being used by local and foreign corporations alike to transport and sell their goods. There is a local truck dealership that specializes in local vehicles that can be utilized to transport goods throughout the region, as well as many supermarkets and a few farms that make profits from imports and exports from foreign countries. There are several abandoned factories that can also be put to good use.
