You think the EC is what keeps third parties out? :D

Don’t know where you live; get rid of the EC and you will have the national elections guided by California, New York and Texas.

Anything involving government usually does. Anarchists and other types angry at their views not being acceptable to the majority. It quickly turns into well state vs anarchy arguments.

Hmm? So there are requirements for self-determination? If the people of the district of Columbia want to be a state, they can’t?

It blew up because it was an unstable idea from the beginning. The numbers just don't support the outcome. These counties average less than 2 persons per square mile. The land belongs to "greater" Oregon, not this pittance of the population of these several counties.

The electoral college is not relevant here.

Actually it is as it’s one of the many things holding the US back. So get rid of the EC, change the amendment system to a national referendum, and smash FPTP

Maryland has already declined the invitation as has Virginia.

Besides DC and PR being admitted and NY splitting off LI into statehood how about North and South California along with East and West Massachusetts. If these states would agree to be split then it only takes a simple majority in the House and Senate plus Presidential approval to make it reality. A 55 star flag might look nice.

Sure why not. Let’s also throw in Jefferson, the Navajo nation, the Cherokee nation, Guam, and American Samoa. A nice 60 states

Not really no.

And still because the EC is based on population those states have a massive influence on the system due to the winner take all system of the EC.

Instead of just having the population centers voting, not all of NY or CA or TX would vote for the same dude, you have the EC which effectively negates that due to the winner take all.

Theoretically you could win with 48.9% in just 14 states and you’d be president. You didn’t even win the majority in any state but due to FPTP and the EC you are president

George M. Willing was the "ho". He fabricated the story of Idaho being an Indian word meaning "Gem of the Mountains."

The name Idaho is actually taken from a steamship which patrolled the Columbia River around 1860. Good thing it wasn't named Boaty McBoatface.

Sequoyah would be the Native American State and each of it's counties would be named for a tribe.

It's really based actually. This country would be in a lot better shape if we were more willing to use violence to enforce change.

No it wouldn’t. Why don’t more people go to city hall or state capitols and do this if it’s so effective?

Violence is never the answer. It’s not going to rally people to your cause.

"Violence is never the answer" he says, in a nation formed because people were violent.
