IC Schedule
ICly all games take place on a weekend at Forsho, across the last three days of the week. Friday and Staurday will see Pool Stage action, while Sunday will have bits of both round-robin and knockout stages, before eventually the World Cup Sevens' champions are crowned in the Grearish Union. Written here are a few guidelines to help you know the exact IC timing of your match in these three days.
The first two digits represent the game number on that specific day, after which the Pool is specified, followed by the kick-off time, followed by the OOC matchday number and the number in which the match is listed in the group fixtures (1st, 2nd or 3rd).
To illustrate, '05 Pool D 09:43 M1-2' refers to match number 5 on Day 1, which is a Pool D game kicking off at 09:43 am. The teams facing off are listed 2nd in OOC Matchday 1 - which is 3 v 6 - which is Queenisa v Copper Cuprum.
From the knowckout stages onwards, C stands for Cup, B stands for Bowl, and P for Plate. QF-P3 is therefore the third Plate quarterfinal, while SF-B2 is the 2nd Bowl semifinal, and GF-C is the Cup grandfinal/final.
01 Pool D 08:15 M1-1

Full resolution available here.

The Grearish Union is a South-East Esportivan nation sandwiched between San Jose Guayabal on the west and South Covello on the east, in the continent of Inferiore Minore. Governmental rule is established from the capital city of Atheburn located fairly in the centre of the country if the picturesque, but fairly inhospitably high Antane mountains are not taken into consideration.

National Highways connect most of the country, with the NH1 connecting the island city of Colk in the extreme southwestern stretches of Grearish territory, to Urdsall in the far northeast. It has turned into the lifeline of the country, complemented by the railway network which has been worked on by both the Grearish Government and the Banijan RTC. Apart from the high-speed national highways, inter-state freeways also connect smaller cities and towns while providing a decent bypass route to the heavy NH traffic. The robust domestic transit system leaves no scope for fissures that may develop in the hosting of events of international proportions.

Internationals may enter the country through land, sea and air - with each kind of port dedicated to serving both individuals and goods adeptly. One has to hold a valid passport of a recognised nation, and a Grearish visa. Carriage of narcotics is strictly banned in the country, with imprisonment being the most common form of punishment, coupled with heavy fines. Major airlines frequently connect the larger cities and the capital with international flight, while the port cities of Paethsmouth and Colk are well-known for international shipping, as well as ferry services to the Manta Islands.

No hooliganism of any kind by supporters of any team or country will be entertained by Grearish authorities. The convicts and/or suspects shall be detained in the GU until either further investigation occurs or the said individuals are acquitted or pronounced guilty. Punishments include imprisonment, and in some extreme cases, heavy fines.

All in all, as long as you're not losing your head while you enjoy the brilliant Omersk beer, have a nice stay, and see you at the rugby!

Welcome to Forsho!

Forsho has been an industrial hub of the Grearish Union for as long as one can remember, now. Metropolitan by all senses of the word, the shipping hub has seen a lot of intermingling between cultures that sailors from all over the world brought with them. Commonly known as the sailors’ city for the same reason, the splendid views of the coastal city will be sure to leave permanent memories etched in visitors’ hearts for a long time to come.

Historically, the burly sailors of Forsho grew weary of football, once they were introduced to the much more physical game of rugby, that suited their body types and tastes in terms of the kind of exercise they wanted. A strong love for rugby thus remained within the sailor class, and condensed into the being of a stadium in recent times - the Seagull Cavern, set in the heart of the city, with a few hilly undulations in the horizon behind (aside from the regular skyscrapers, of course). The stadium seats upwards of 30,000 spectators on a good day of rugby, and has a beautiful retractable fibre roof that enables the stadium to be a safe shelter in times of cyclonic storms as such, for the locals, while also allowing for nice, rainy rugby matches with the roof retracted.

The Forsho conurbation is the largest in Grearia (the other major 6 being: Atheburn, Plibury, Salvador, Edgenorth, Urdsall and Colk) comprises a large number of metropolitan areas, cities, towns, suburbs and outskirt-villages. Forsho city proper will be playing host to the 6th Rugby Sevens’ World Cup, while serving as the heartbeat of the settlement. It is the lifeline of the 3-million-strong conurbation, which in turn is the lifeline of 90-odd million Grears living throughout the mainland. Transportation is one of the city’s unquestionable merits, being connected to all parts of the multiverse through land, sea and air. The international shipping port and international airports are the main entry into the city, with rail and road (national highway) connections with the other six major cities of the Union: the city of Colk in the Manta Islands (offshore and to the south from the Grearish mainland) is connected to Forsho by the Manta Sealink (an expressway built over the ocean for road vehicles) and also a ferry service that will be made more frequent in the World Cup weekend.

Postby San Ortelio » Mon Apr 26, 2021 3:52 am

Rugby, in general, is not the most popular sport of San Ortelio, yet holds a special place in the communal hearts over the existence of La Cinqua. The small yet arduous community of ruggers catches the limelights two months a year with this tournament, which is the pinnacle of the sporting rivalry between the five regions which constitute the nation of San Ortelio, hence the name. Whilst all players have a club for which they turn out, they are most commonly referred to by the region which they represent in La Cinqua, which is why we have listed those below. This region is determined by birth or by residence, but cannot be altered after representing the respective region.

Whilst the regular season rarely draws crowds, the games of La Cinqua form festive occasions and as such are as much part of the local folklore as they are sports events. However, as the population of San Ortelio is limited and, as a consequence, the number of rugby players notably small, Rugby Sevens is as popular among the players as the internationally more widespread code of Rugby Union (in which La Cinqua is played). However, there is nearly no specialization, with all players turning out in both disciplines.

Image

The backbone of our line-up is based around two strong partnerships which click well both for their club and region. The forwards are based around the up-and-coming San Pancrazio/URS Catrallo duo Baffi and Bottarelli. The former forms a peculiar allrounder but is positioned as prop due to his chemistry with and blind confidence in the latter. They are shored up with Lietti who showed great progress in the last La Cinqua: no wonder that San Pancrazio came out victorious last year. His performances are enough to bench Cimini, a veteran of many wars and a weak spot when it comes to speed - but a cunning source of experience. Sergio Zanatta turns out in La Cinqua for San Mamerto, usually the wooden spoon of the tournament, but it is a testimony to his quality that he is an uncontested starter in this line-up. Behind him, the nephews Stefano and Simone Di Basco add quick transitions and fast breaks to the playbook. The tactically difficult wing position is reserved for Daniele Carcano, the captain of this line-up.

Nr Position Name Age Region
1 Prop Gianluca Bottarelli 27 San Pancrazio
2 Hooker Claudio Lietti 24 San Pancrazio
3 Prop Paolo Baffi 25 San Pancrazio
4 Scrum-Half Sergio Zanatta 32 San Mamerto
5 Fly-Half Stefano Di Basco 29 San Servazio
6 Centre Simone Di Basco 25 San Servazio
7 Wing Daniele Carcano 35 San Bonifazio

8 Prop Marco Vairetti 28 Santa Sofia
9 Hooker Giorgio Cimini 34 San Servazio
10 Scrum-Half Bartolo Valerin 23 San Servazio
11 Centre Ercole Pagnin 21 San Bonifazio
12 Wing Alberto Gelfi 30 San Servazio

Manager for this tournament is Luca Valletti, a 70-year old journalist considered the neutral outsider required. Yet, the team is fairly self-governing and will make tactical decisions themselves whilst Valletti functions as the external face of the team.

San Ortelio, your favorite pseudo-Italian, coastal microstate. Less than half a million inhabitants who stand for a rich culture, are governed
by an delicate yet marvellously balanced system and remain economically viable due to fishing and funky tax laws.
But enough about us. Come vai?

We're no international threat, so have our domestic thread.
Definitely check the invitation box in the OP if you want to get involved.

Sevendian roster for the 6th Rugby Sevens World Cup

What is a Sevendia?
Good question. Sevendia is a small, seven shaped country in Sonnel. At about 777,777 inhabitants, it isn’t a big or relevant nation. Sevendia rarely joins international sports, possibly because international sports don’t involve enough sevens to their liking. Everything is 7 in Sevendia. This is not an over exaggeration. Therefore, when they heard that there would be a World Cup in Sevens, they immediately jumped at the chance. If only this were also the seventh edition, but you can’t have everything.

RP permissions:
This is a meme puppet. Do whatever floats your boat. Kill ‘em, ‘slice em, dice ‘em, make them a farmer in remote Ko-oren, I don’t care. Go have some fun.

Roster:

Coaching staff:
Seven-Seven Seventy-Seven (49)
The coach with the admittedly non-ideal name is responsible for all of the team. There are no other coaches. Due to the complexity of his name, he is mostly referenced as “91”. He also got 14 wins with the baseball team at the Classic, and led the football team to 4th place at the 7NC. Yes, he coaches these teams too.

Forwards
P: Sev-Seven Nguyen
H: Sevaka-Seven Jorden
P: Severaino-Seven Freemen

Backs
SH: Sevilen-Seven Olsen
FH: Sevyn-Seven Warren
C: Severin-Seven Garden
W: Severence-Seven Hansen

Substitutes
P: Severus-Seven O’Brien
H: Severino-Seven Jensen
SH/FH: Sevastian-Seven Loven
C: Severn-Seven Seven
W/C: Sevonar-Seven Sven

Things you probably should know
All (adult) people in Sevendia are seven foot. Always.
In every sentence, people currently being in Sevendia are required by law to use all the letters of the word seven (e, n, s, v) in every sentence they say.
The answer is always seven. The question is also always seven.
Everything that could theoretically be seven-shaped is seven-shaped.
Everything that can’t be seven-shaped is also seven-shaped.
All objects are required to have a 7 on them, including everything.
Seven.

Schedule:

Friday:
Quebec and Shingoryeo – Sevendia (10:49)
Sevendia - Hannasean Federation (13:45)

Rugby is the third most popular sport in Elejamie, behind ice hockey and football (or soccer; American football is called "gridiron" and is considered a niche sport at best). Rugby union is the most popular form in Elejamie, with rugby league having a small but loyal fanbase. However, it wasn't until 2016 when there finally was an officially sanctioned rugby sevens tournament was announced: The ERC 7s, which begins on the fourth Friday of August and lasts for three days. Simply put, all twelve teams in that season's ERC (Elejamian Rugby Championship) are divided into two groups of six and play a single round robin tournament to see whether they'll play for the Cup, the Plate or the Bowl. The first group's games are played on the Friday, the second group's games are played on the following Saturday and the semi-finals, 3PPOs and Cup/Plate/Bowl finals are played on Sunday afternoon/evening. The fifth tournament in Playa de Rocas saw the Coventry Wyverns come from 17-10 down at half-time to beat the Murgon Bullfrogs 28-20 and win the Cup, the Mainsborough Delphi just narrowly missed out on winning the Plate when they went down 19-7 to the Iceland Panthers and the Auckhampton Birch Trees absolutely blitzed their competition when they beat the Edgebaston Warriors 30-3 to win the Bowl after a sluggish group stage. The tournament was also the first time the competition was hosted in a city without an ERC team as CR Los Reyes were relegated on the very last day of the 2019-2020 season.

Placely Placington rugby league union sevens team something or other

Style Mod: +5
Colours: Black and white

Placely Placington have decided to throw their hat into the ring with a third code of rugby as they're going to give this "sevens" thing a go. After all, it's pretty much a condensed version of rugby union, which is why they're keeping the same kits for this edition, and they didn't do that badly at the last Rugby Union World Cup. They managed to get two wins, an 8-0 victory over Oscioru and a 24-17 win over the United Hemand Insia. They also lost twice, a quite heavy 28-0 defeat to Alice Bay and a 21-3 defeat to Sajnur to kick their tournament off. It was enough for them to finish third in their group, at least. And now, with their horde of expendable Test Subjects and the possibility of coming away with a bowl or a plate if they fail to finish high enough in their group, it's now just a question of how much money they'll be able to procure for Chief President Man Dave McDaverson to embezzle pay off the debts he and his country owes after it banned the economy one time.

To make things easier, feel free to use Test Subject (or merely just Subject) followed by either their number or position, much like what I've did with the Captain/Vice-captain thing. They may all be clones but they're still technically different people.

Choose my pointscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: Y
RP injuries to my players: Y. Go nuts.
Godmod injuries to my players: Y. Deaths are not just allowed but also encouraged due to the nature of Placely Placington. Just as long as you don't make it too gory (just to avoid moderator intervention) you can kill off as many Test Subjects as you want however you want. Bonus points if you try and be as creative or as ludicrous (i.e. one of the Test Subjects having a bizarrely fatal allergy to air) as possible. Besides, the Clonomat's been brought over so they can easily bring back a new player as if nothing's happened.
Hand out yellow cards (sin bin) to my players: Y. No limits.
Hand out red cards (sending off) to my players: Y. Also no limits.
Godmod other events: Anything's allowed up to the dissolution of Placely Placington. Much like its denizens, Placely Placington can never truly die, it just dies for a little bit then comes back as if nothing's happened.

  • Because everyone in Placely Placington is an idiot, the Test Subjects themselves no exception, you're more than welcome to have any of the Test Subjects completely mess up the laws. Such as spiking the ball when they make it past the try line instead of putting it down for a try.
  • There is no IC link between Elejamie (my main) and Placely Placington, just to let everyone know.
  • This nation is a joke nation that was entered solely as a numbers puppet. I do not care how well it does.

Obligatory wacky and "so random" puppet that you all know and are probably sick and tired of, brought to you by Elejamie.

Forwards
Not a single member of the Olympic pack remains; the only returning player, Joe Fox, debuted at the AVBF. Mobile and athletic, most of these guys are on Ultimate Rugby squads as back row players.

1. Aaron Gibson (Kent Dæmons)
4. Hunter Edwards (Oakwood Orcas)
6. Joe Fox (New Blopping Magic Ants)
7. Hayden Marsh (Oakwood Orcas)
8. Ben Gray (Upper Niedewe Reds)
12. Alex Woods (Upper Niedewe Reds)

Half-backs
Jake Bergen is new at 9, as his back-up Moore. Jayson Parker remains on the squad, a hard-hitting tackler and erratically brilliant kicker.

9. Jake Bergen (Angelwood Electro-Weasels)
10. Jayson Parker (Pearl City Icelandic)
11. Alex Moore (Upper Niedewe Reds)

Wings/centers
Ethan Price, the only man to represent the Federation in three different codes of rugby, has a lot of expectation on the wing, Harry Evans, who led the scoring at the Olympics, gone. Price is a different kind of player, not as quick but much stronger and with better ball skills. New young speedsters surround him.

2. Luke Ward (Greenville Mystics)
3. Seb Williams (Silver Creek Jaguars)
5. Ethan Price (Pearl City Raptors)
13. Ash Ellis (Angelwood Electro-Weasels)

Rugby sevens is not a dedicated professional sport in the Guild Federation; instead, players from the squad are mainly drawn from professional rugby union sides playing in Ultimate Rugby. They won surprising success, and a gold medal, at the last Summer Olympics, but did poorly at the AVBF and missed the Coff's. Only one player survives from that Olympic squad (Parker); Price has represented the Federation at numerous tournaments in every variation of rugby imaginable, and Fox played at the AVBF. Their style of play is not a finesse one, instead based on superior fitness and relentless tackling, wearing down the opposition. Parker is an utterly unreliable kicker who'll nail a touchline kick one game then miss an easy chip-over in front of the sticks the next.

Should my opponent RPs first, they may do the following:
Choose my try scorers: Y
Choose my goal scorers: N, use Parker
Godmod scoring events: N
RP injuries to my players: N
Godmod injuries to my players: N
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Y
Hand out red cards to my players: Y
Godmod other events: Maybe, ask first depending on what you have in mind

Additionally, please don't RP my athletes or supporters being responsible for violence, cheating, or doping; and, if you're using unphotoshopped photo pictures, don't say they're pictures of my athletes or supporters.

Grearish rugby is governed by the Rugby Federation of the Grearish Union, and currently only recognises the Union code of the game. Established rather recently when compared to the other heritage federations, it is determined to establish a strong foothold in the rugby community of the multiverse. All major clubs of the Union rugby scene came up to form the RFGU in 1963 when the unofficial Grearish Harriers were given a formal status, leading up to the proclamation of the white-and-gold as the national team. Players on this team were comprised of such local clubs, and a culture of national pride in rugby was instilled that far back in time. In modern times, it is an effort to chase this glory that drives the Harriers.

The Harriers 7s will find themselves led by the very amicable John McColgan who will feature in the team as a hooker, and is known to be both friendly and stern as required, leading the team from the front. The burly island-lad from Colk will have to play a pivotal role in thundering down the opposition's defences, while keeping the team

 # Position Name Age City (or nearest)
1 Prop George Allan 25 M Plibury
2 Hooker John McColgan 27 M Colk
3 Prop Elaine Dunn 23 F Salvador
4 Scrum-Half Vincent Joseph 18 M Edgenorth Kicker 1
5 Fly-Half Steven Bell 18 M Salvador
6 Centre Patricia May 21 F Sjalfstead Kicker 2
7 Wing Mary Carmichael 27 F Forsho

8 Prop Martin South 35 M Salvador
9 Hooker Gareth Marksson 18 M Sjalfstead
10 Scrum-Half Emma Clarke 27 F Edgenorth
11 Centre Ian North 25 M Erawann
12 Wing Diane Whyte 23 F Plibury

What is evident from the team selection is that large-bodied highlanders from the north and island-people from the coastal areas form the biggest part of the rugby fanaticism in the country. Sjalfsteadic people also are big fans of the game, while the South Newlandian immigrant community has their representative in the 25-year-old Ian North who has surprised everyone by featuring in the team. Martin South might be seeing his final 7s tournament as he retains his place in the squad (albeit on the bench) at 35 years young - some say he's too old, some others believe age is just a number! It remains to be seen how these players will perform on the given day, but the Grearish people have certainly put their entire faith on these individuals - and they'll be unanimously accepted as the Harriers - soaring above the Grearish skies.

The Harriers will play in their age-old gold-on-white hoops that are very loved by the small, but hardcore supporting community in the nation. The alternative, or away kit would be a gold-on-black variation that is also sure to carry the Grearish heritage into the tournament while showing their skills to the world. The rights for kits have been won by Grearish kit manufacturer Equinox, who will be producing these brilliant shirts for fans and players alike. With the proper introduction into international rugby, the company expects to see its sales boom over the next few years especially while owning the kit providing rights.

Ferideia of Tikariot will be the primary sponsor the Harriers in a three-year deal that has been agreed between the brand and RFGU. It is thought to be of paramount importance, as this will be the first opportunity for the RFGU to earn revenue from the sport - putting it firmly ahead of other sports vying for national and international spotlight from the GU in terms of transitioning from their amateur status to being a fully professional sport in the nation. Things are looking up for the Harriers!

Scrum!: 4th 7s Competition, 2nd 7s World Cup!

Well then...this is a sight for sore eyes. Year 4 of TJUN-ia's Rugby Sevens project brings us to our 2nd ever Rugby 7s World Cup, a full 3 years after making our debuts in Barunia with a 4-4 record and 3rd in our group. Things have certainly changed since then, but a lot of the players from RSWC5 remain for RSWC6, where only 1 team in each of the 7 groups missing out on fighting for one of the 3 trophies this time around. Brutas Excillius has certainly seen a bit of an evolution in the years since our first WC, with a Bowl triumph in Alpen View and a Plate semi-final at Coffs showing the world why we are ranked 13th in the world in the 7-man variant of Union. But the people were starting to ask an interesting question of this team: can they go one better again and challenge for the World Cup itself? The crowd will be tough, but our guys will certainly try their best...

Pratapgadh National Rugby Sevens Team - 6th Rugby 7s World C

Postby Pratapgadh » Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:14 pm

Image
Pratapgadh National Rugby Sevens Team

This is the debut of the Pratapgadh national rugby sevens team in the Rugby Sevens World Cup. The same team from the AVBF Rugby 7's VI two years ago has been selected for this World Cup, even though age is catching up to some of them. They have a lot of experience from the AVBF Rugby 7's VI and played quite well, reaching the knockout stage (quarter-finals) after ending up second in the group stage behind the Revolutionaries, Abanfleft. The Pratapgadh Rugby Union (PRU) is hoping to see the national rugby sevens team show the same magic from the AVBF Rugby 7's VI and climb up the rankings. Vice-captain Dilkan Pathak and Kshitij Pendharkar will be retiring after this competition ends and many players such as captain Devansh Aggarwal and Sampat Asthana will most likely retire too, which means a new breed of players will knock on the doors. That's why Naseem Changezi has replaced Dilkan Pathak as vice-captain to gain some experience and lead the future of Pratapgadh. Pratapgadh is still lacking a rugby sevens competition, so the PRU announced the National Rugby Sevens Championships (NR7C) recently. It is said that the first season will be held next year in 2026. Union and League are quite popular in Pratapgadh, but Sevens is growing quite quickly. So in the future, we might see a dominant Pratapgadh in all variations of the sport.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
National rugby sevens team

This will be the fourth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in the Rugby Sevens World Cup, which is currently in its sixth edition. Despite doing well enough in the group stage of the 5th Rugby Sevens World Cup, Abanhfleft were, in typical Fleftic fashion, eliminated simply because they were not among the two best second-placed teams. Rugby sevens is, quite frankly, a fringe sport in the Democratic Republic, with most of its players being either rugby union or rugby league players in their professional careers. However, the country simply couldn't resist the temptation to go for some sporting silverware, and therefore the rugby sevens national team that was assembled and sent to Londinium in Nova Anglicana, won in Alice Bay, and shamefully eliminated in Barunia despite being second in their group, have come back to avenge the honor of the Democratic Republic and remove the shame of last edition's elimination.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Official history: This will be the third time that Abanhfleft will be participating in an international rugby sevens tournament.
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3. Offense will be the team's focus.

STARTING SEVEN
Key: Number, name, position, age
#1 Adam Jaden Sforza (Left prop, 32, captain)
#2 Rupert Dearth (Right prop, 28)
#3 Markos Iordanou (Scrum half, 29)
#4 Justiniano Reid (Hooker, 30)
#5 Marouane Mahout (Fly half, 29, kicker)
#6 Ken Greathouse (Center, 26)
#7 Paul Partridge (Fullback, 32)

RESERVES
#8 Horace Honeycutt III (27)
#9 Mile Foreman (30)
#10 Zakary Keller (24)
#11 Emery Schmoll (27)
#12 Moritz Zilner (30)
#13 Kurt Pamintuan (25)
#14 Wendel Van Alphen (25)
#15 Bradley Votaw (Utility player, 26)

RP PERMISSIONS
  • Marouane Mahout is the team's designated kicker. He takes all conversions and penalties while he is on the field. In the event that Mahout has to come off the field, Justiniano Reid will become the new kicker for Abanhfleft.
  • Anything except killing my players is fair game. But if you've got something crazy in the works, do drop a TG or DM me on Discord and let's talk about it.

Four winners and four losers from tonight's PJP debate

After the big PJP leadership debate, here are our takeaways on who won and lost tonight:

Winners

Josephine Clark

The leader before the debate, the likely leader after the debate, and the person who was named by more respondents than anyone else as having "won" the debate, Clark hasn't sewn this leadership contest up yet. But what she has done is solidified her position at the top. She projected an air of confidence and competence, highlighting her service as a Deputy in Parliament and as Foreign Affairs Minister and speaking clearly and forcefully about how she'd get the party back on track. She even showed what seems to be a rare at times human side, talking about her mother, her activism in college, and her work for NGOs and the Anglican Service Corps before she got into politics. Although she wasn't incredibly distinctive on domestic policy, she held her own and shined when foreign policy was the subject. Overall, a solid performance from a leading candidate that appears to have found her groove.

Tim McKenzie

We still saw two Tim McKenzies up on the stage tonight, as he continued to try to straddle the gap between youth and experience, between fresh new ideas and service. But what he did do excellently was come prepared on policy. On everything from trade and human rights to tax policy, environmental challenges, jobs and the economy, to racial inequities in society, he had a good answer. He also appears to have thrown in his lot with the left of the party, criticizing party orthodoxy on free trade, attacking "a neoliberalism that says nibbling 'round the margins is the best we can do" as insufficient to solve the country's problems, and endorsing massive investment in green technology. Quite a performance from the man quite a few might have labeled a neoliberal, or at least a fellow traveler, when he first came to Parliament. But his best moment came when he made an argument for baby bonds and diversity initiatives, fusing an economic populism that described the upper class in scathing terms as "hoarding all the opportunity for themselves and their children" with a frankness on racial issues, saying "they try to distract us by pointing at immigrants or racial or religious minorities as the source of our problems, when we know damn well there's opportunity enough for all; we just have to stand united and be bold enough to demand what belongs to all of us." He may not win, but he'll make it closer than it has been and if you squint just hard enough, you can see him becoming Prime Minister several years down the line.

Sheila Gordon

Why haven't we seen more of Sheila Gordon before? The PJP backbencher who is their primary spokesperson in First Nations Country came prepared to throw down tonight. She forcefully but tactfully made the case that Nova Anglicana has shirked its responsibilities when it comes to First Nations people, highlighting deep inequities in society that hit First Nations kids hard. But she didn't stop there; she talked about how her experiences as a First Nations person equipped her with tools and desires to right wrongs that everyone faces in society. She even got the room buzzing by talking about a new social contract, perhaps even a constitutional rewrite that cements power in the people and acknowledges that the state needs to provide an uncompromising commitment to a strong social safety net. It was a bold step from someone who's mostly toed the party line during her career, but it looks like it paid off for her. No, we're not predicting her to win the leadership contest, but she vaulted into at least the lower end of the top tier with this performance and is someone to watch going forward.

Multilateralism

A multilateral, peace and diplomacy-oriented foreign policy is the PJP's bread and butter, and typically it's not much of a debate. But Clark's foregrounding of her foreign policy experience made that section of the debate quite interesting, actually. She not only talked about her experience, but wove the connections in and out of seemingly every answer she gave. She talked about how the government's tax cuts would not only affect social services domestically, but endangered the nation's security abroad, both in terms of less diplomatic presence in important regions and how a dropoff in foreign aid would lead to those gaps being filled by unsavory or hostile actors. She also highlighted that Nova Anglicana's commitment to fighting climate change meant electrifying our society, which itself meant collaboration with governments and firms across the multiverse to develop better technology and secure vital supply chains. She hit on Esportivan co-operation multiple times, saying that it's an area she's worked on and would like to develop further. This spurred other candidates to offer their own takes on why multilateralism is effective and some of their foreign policy ideas. Overall, a much greater percentage of the debate was spent on foreign policy than we'd expected.

Losers

Samantha Speer

The unfair stereotype of Speer is that she's a screeching harpy going on about issues outside of the PJP mainstream, then lambasting the party for not agreeing with her. It's an awful stereotype, rooted in sexism, but Speer's rebellious career hasn't done her any favors. Coming into the debate, she really needed to play up the party unity angle and make the case for why voters should take a chance on this outsider. Unfortunately, she couldn't make it stick. She feinted at party unity and made occasional comments about her service to the party, but she soon slipped off into sharp-edged words about the undervaluing of women and women's issues that veered a little too close to seeming like a conversation about how she personally feels undervalued. She did hit some excellent notes on paid leave and women's rights internationally, seeming like a true leader, but overall, she failed to shake her rebel image and that will cost her.

Alec Thornhill

A decent chunk of the debate tonight focused on environmental issues, an area where you'd think the "green" Thornhill would have no trouble hitting a home run. But he flubbed it, getting lost in a discussion about carbon taxes versus energy portfolios and some of the minutiae of addressing climate change. You can tell he's really excited about the subject, but he ended up coming off more as an environmental systems professor than a Premier who'd helped his province make major strides in reducing carbon output and diversifying their economy. To a lesser extent, he suffered from the other candidates having also learned how to speak "green" lingo, a prerequisite for many politicians today, so he stood out less. Still, he'd make a fine bureaucrat or even an Environment Minister.

Martin Oullette

Poor Martin Oullette. He already had a tough hill to climb being identified as the Francophone candidate, not really having much of a platform to break out for a broader audience. But tonight was bad. First, he began by answering all questions first in French, then in English. The moderators let him do it for the first question, then began to cut him off in the middle of his English responses because he was going over his allotted speaking time. So he switched to English only; while Mssr. Oullette is a perfectly capable English speaker, it was obvious he had done all of his practice in his French first, English second routine, so he ended up having to improvise a bit and ended up getting stuck in a cul-de-sac of word salad more often than not. A risk for any politician, but especially for one speaking in his second language on a live debate stage.

He did rebound a bit during the small section at the end reserved specifically for questions in French, but it wasn't enough to overcome his poor performance earlier. It's a question of whether dropping out and endorsing someone is more embarrassing for him or the candidate he endorses.

Hot-button lefty issues

Although candidates like Samantha Speer and Graham Hatten very much wanted to put issues like access to abortion and UBI at the forefront of their debate performance, and have during their campaigns, they just didn't get much play tonight. Hatten was able to discuss UBI during a question on welfare benefits, but he didn't have much time outside of that one question to bring it up. And Speer made her typical impassioned plea about abortion during a discussion on cultural issues and inequity in society, but the stage was stolen by Gordon's litany, McKenzie's seamless weaving of racial and economic issues together, and to a certain extent by Bruce Russell's podium-thumping speech in defense of both farmers and "ordinary people who just like to have a little more peace and quiet on their Sundays." Both candidates hit these issues in their opening and closing statements, but bookending the debate with a limited discussion of them just wasn't enough to make them pop for viewers.

Flash Poll - Who won the PJP debate?

Josephine Clark - 27%
Tim McKenzie - 19%
No candidate - 16%
Sheila Gordon - 14%
Samantha Speer - 11%
Graham Hatten - 7%
Alec Thornhill - 4%
Bruce Russell - 1%
Martin Oullette - <1%

With the game of Sevens becoming more and more specialized, Alice Bay Rugby Union decided to create a specific team for this variation of the sport. These players were removed from their XV teams, and after the Sevens World Cup, they will be among the players participating in the new national championship of Sevens, which will involve all districts in the country. The team comes with the mission to recover lost positions in the ranking due to the focus that ABRU has decided to give to the United 10 multinational league in recent times.

Roster:
1. Richard Ka'ai (PR)
2. Lukas Arden (PR)
3. Kevin Henare (SH)

Rugby isn't the biggest sport in Darkmania. In fact, this is only the 2nd time that any darkmanian rugby team has taken part in an international tournament, with the first time being so long time ago that information is scares and not known 100%. As such Darkmania are officially UR and their team will often accidentally break the rules, due to the low interest in darkmanian rugby as well as not understanding the rules.

A unnamed coach from Elejamie has trained a roster from all around Darkmania with just a few of the darkmanian players actually having some experience as in they have played rugby on a national level, but not on a international level. Expect Darkmania to not do as well and to flop hard.

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS TEAM

This is the second time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the Rugby Sevens World Cup. Rugby is the most popular sport in Copper Cuprum, and although rugby league is the more popular code in the Chiefdom, both rugby union and rugby sevens still have a decent following. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: Initially, the Copperite national rugby sevens team was not supposed to wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they would have played wearing only white loincloths and nothing else. However, in the interests of modesty and compliance with the international standard, the Copperite team has elected to wear a new uniform with alternating black and white hoops and white shorts.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Head coach: Count Tumale Boweba (51 y/o, Copper Cuprum)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka.

Licentian National Rugby Sevens Team

The Licentian Isles are a nation where rugby is close to rivalling football in popularity, though that is usually more true of the union code than the other variants of the sport. Rugby sevens is traditionally seen as entertaining, but ultimately a sideshow when compared to the 15 a side game that is most popular across the Isles. Players are often the speediest backs from union teams or players dropped from academies who are looking for a way back into professional rugby. Nonetheless, sevens has been earning greater amounts of respect in recent years, and Licentians will be hoping for a good result in the Grearish Union.

Head Coach – Elena Stevens

Squad:

Starting Seven:
Prop – Dan Hill – 24 years
Hooker – Noah Deelstra – 31 years - CAPTAIN
Prop – Sophie Grant – 23 years
Scrum Half – Jamie Miller – 21 years
Fly Half – Amber Crawford – 25 years
Centre – Klara Hooft – 20 years
Wing – Cole Hamilton – 28 years

Replacements:

Prop – Adeline Steens – 26 years
Hooker – Curtis Gray – 25 years
Scrum Half – Tom Walker – 23 years
Fly Half – Jack van der Woude – 22 years
Centre/Wing – Jess Forbes – 19 years

Kits: The home kit of the rugby teams of the Licentian Isles are a cyan shirt with gold sash, cyan shorts, and gold socks. The change strip is white with a gold sash bordered on both sides by cyan, and utilises the same shorts and socks.

RP Permissions:
If my opponent should RP first, they may:
Choose my scorers Y
Godmod scoring events Y, but nothing too ridiculous
RP injuries to my players Y, but nothing serious, and TG me to make me aware
Godmod injuries to my players N
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y
Hand out red cards to my players N
Godmod other events N

Fair play and respect are important to Licentian players, and they should not be depicted as going outside the bounds of normal behaviour during a match without prior permission. I will also not tolerate the introduction of any virus or other world-changing thing to the Isles without prior permission.

Player ages are correct as of the first matchday.

The Roaring Rugby Rowdies

Your truthful source for All Rugby

6th Rugby Sevens World Cup

Kriegiersien 31–7 Placely Placington

Finally real rugby. After Aussie Soccer again didn’t work out for our nation, now our beloved Sevens team is on the road again. Unranked, because they didn’t play the last World Championships, but still good.

Kriegiersien wins the duel between the two teams voted Top for having “worst jerseys” with 31-7 and are now one step further away from becoming last.

“This was one of the harder games in my life. And I played one year in the Demon League. When one of your opponents begs you to kill him it is very .. just strange”, said Captain Damian Druid.

“How they behaved….. first I thought that was a complicated ruse or trick, but some of these guys are really crazy. I guess the names should have given it away”, muttered Saoul Bastian.
“It wasn’t even fun to smash the head of one of them”, said confused orcish Back Wing Glob.

The next opponent is the Commonwealth of Baker Park who haven’t given a line-up until now.

“Whoever is playing for them, they are not to be underestimated”, said Coach Amanda Ant.

Commonwealth of Baker Park Rugby Union (CRU)

The Commonwealth of Baker Park Rugby Union, founded in February 1954, administers the sport as the central authority in cooperation with the seven individual state unions. Club membership currently stands at 65, while 13 other clubs have been members in the past, but are no long operating. Although there are fewer than 7,000 registered players, the sport does have a strong following in Baker Park, with a national television broadcast deal, strong regional rivalries and David v Goliath storylines.

Seven-a-side rugby has exploded in popularity in the Commonwealth over the last 15 years, especially at youth levels and among women. The CRU has embraced the spread of Sevens as a way to expose more players to the sport, and supports summer fun leagues for both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18; there is also an off-season sevens competition among the clubs in the Montieth Shield (the nation's top pro division) and League One (the second tier) aimed at development of younger players.

Following their debut in Istria at the XIV Summer Olympics, the CRU accepted an invitation to Neu Engellon for the AVBF Seven's, the first NSRB competition for a BP National Team.

There's been a changing of the guard, as almost half of the roster that played in those events have been replaced by younger stars from the professional ranks.

Regular starting lineup is 1/2/3/4/5/6/12, although the quick turnaround on (IC) MD1 may see wholesale changes for the second match.

Middletown, the nation's 12th largest city, and second largest in the state of Ezra, is the spiritual home of the union code in Baker Park; Middletown RFC is the most successful club in the country based on trophies won (9 Challenge Cups, 9 league titles), and their home ground, Barnitz Stadium, has hosted more international tests than any other stadium in the country.
The influence of Middletown, and also the Ezra Rugby Union, is evident today; the national team traditionally wears shirts with alternating Navy Blue and Gray hoops, based upon the design both club and state use. As an alternative, an all white combo is used (a nod towards the 'Ghost Whites" popularized by the FAC's National Soccer Team).

Pratapgadh Decimates Udmar In Their First Match Of The Day
Written By Masoom Changezi
Rugby Sevens

Seagull Cavern, Forsho - It's the first day of the sixth edition of the Rugby Sevens World Cup. Pratapgadh is off to a good start after decimating Udmar, an unranked team. Pratapgadh scored a total of 52 points and refused Udmar any chance at a comeback. The Seven Stallions have definitely made a statement in this tournament after such a convincing performance. Even though the average age of the starting team is around 30, they played like a bunch of young guns. It's a great start for the Seven Stallions today as they take a break for their second match later on today against Darkmania.

Let's talk about the match against Udmar first. I don't know much about their team or the nation, don't have much to say about their performance today either as they were completely dominated by the Seven Stallions. The Pratapgadhi side didn't waste any time and were already on the offensive with fly-half Kshittij Pendharkar, center Aryaman Vesuwala and Sampat Asthana being the point scorers in the match. Three minutes into the first half and Vesuwala scored a try and also converted it into seven points for his side. Pendharkar and Asthana also scored a try each and Vesuwala successfully converted both of those tries. By the end of the first half, Pratapgadh were 28-0 and were in total control of the game. The second half was no different with Udmar struggling to attack and Pratapgadh scored points throughout the play. Two minutes into the second half and Vesuwala scored a drop goal and brought home three points. Asthana scored another try four minutes into the second half and Vesuwala converted that into seven points. Vesuwala also scored another two tries and converted both of them, bringing Pratapgadh's final score to 52 points. The match ended with Udmar scoring an egg and Pratapgadh coming out much more confident.

The captain, Devansh Aggarwal, took questions from reporters. I asked him how he and his team felt after their first match to which he replied, "We are thrilled after our imperious victory over Udmar. Starting off well always boosts our confidence, which will help with our next two games against Darkmania and Nova Anglicana. Both our attack and defense are on point, but we will try to perfect our game so we are ready to face teams like Nova Anglicana and Abanhfleft." He took a few more questions before he left with his team to recharge after their first match. Even though Udmar is an unranked team, I never expected the Seven Stallions to be so brutal. So this was a fun and painful match to watch. Out of all teams who played one match each, Pratapgadh has scored the most points. So I believe this is a big statement by the Pratapgadhi side that they should no longer be considered an underdog and instead be considered a threat.

Pratapgadh is on the top of their game and their group. Nova Anglicana and Alice Bay came out victorious in their first matches while Abanhfleft is yet to play a match. Nova Anglicana and Abanhfleft are the real threats to Pratapgadh in this group. Pratapgadh will be facing Nova Anglicana this afternoon and Abanhfleft the next morning. Time for me to take a break too and just enjoy other games going on. I will be updating my fellow Pratapgadhis after their match against Darkmania. Look out for more news around this tournament on FIRESPORTS.com and have a great day.
