Campionato Esportiva 29 [rosters/RPs/results]

Postby Hannasea » Thu Mar 18, 2021 2:15 am

Welcome to The Hannasean Federation for the 29th edition of the Campionato Esportiva.

The draw was conducted in Pearl City, broadcast live on GS SuperSports+. Sabrina Jordan provided commentary as former Hannasean captain Krista Hill picked from 4 pots:
Brenecia
Hampton Island
Newmanistan
Xanneria
Vdara
Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom
South Newlandia
Ethane
Esportivan Darmen
Ancherion
Racing
Burgburgh
The Golden Lotus
Damukuni
Gergary
The Grearish Union
Natanians and Nosts
Sylestone
Fhulghamous Peninsula
Starcom Racing
Ceyne Isles
Tumbra
Vangaziland
Gouvanarch
Hallikshire
Nova Anglicana
A random place
The Hannasean Federation
The Licentian Isles
Nuovo Juvencus
Panarialion
Sahuarita

Each group is sponsored by a different guild. In each group, the first seed will play all three of the games at the bigger of the two stadiums on offer, thus ensuring every team gets a chance to play in the biggest stadium while giving the team likely to draw the biggest crowd the capacity to do so.

Mercers Group
The Guild of Mercers is the most powerful guild in the Federation. Hannasea’s prosperity has been built, not on industry, but on trade, and the merchant guild has ensured centuries of free and open trading links with the rest of the world (even if the rest of the world only recently noticed Hannasea’s existence). The games in this group will be played in the city of Pintook, on the shores of Lake Took. All games involving the first seed will be played at a new purpose-built arena [Mercer Park] advertising the Guild of Mercers, and featuring bright multicoloured seating matching the famous painted houses that line the shore of Lake Took. The other stadium [Sara Baker Stadium] is the home arena of Dynamo, the Federation Hateball League side based in Pintook. A small, rather drab little ground, named after the former Dynamo player, a small, rather drab little midfielder.

Ethane (8)
The Grearish Union (16)
Fhulgamous Peninsula (19)
The Hannasean Federation (UR)

Pepperers Group
Hannasea is home to a fairly bland native cuisine, so to spice it up Hannaseans have travelled far and wide in search of exotic spices. That’s led to the Guild of Pepperers becoming an important guild with centuries of trading history behind them. They’re sponsoring the second group, which will be based in the Incomprehensible Peninsula port city of Upper Niedewe. Both stadiums for this group are brand new: the slightly larger one [Oceanbay Park], which will remain as a multi-sport facility, is built atop the Cliffs of Strangeness, looking out over the ocean; the other, smaller stadium [The New Squid Tank] in downtown Upper Niedewe will become a new field hockey ground for the Squids once the tournament is over.

South Newlandia (7)
Gergary (15)
Starcom Racing (20)
Hallikshire (25)

Glaziers Group
The Guild of Glaziers sponsors the third group. Not historically one of the leading guilds given their trade was the humble craft of window glazing, the Glaziers grew in influence and stature (and wealth) with the development of a precision glass scientific instrument industry in Hannasea. Today they are generally more associated with the latter trade, their coat of arms showing a test tube rather than a window pane. No new stadiums are needed as the city of Brethwick already has two football clubs: Athletic and Rangers. Athletic’s ground [Moontide Park] is the larger and will host the first seeds; Rangers’ ground [Seat of Quickwinds] is much smaller but is actually quite picturesque, and one of the only football grounds in the world to have stained glass windows built into the boxes.

Newmanistan (3)
Ancherion (10)
Natanians and Nosts (17)
Nova Anglicana (26)

Mongers Group
The Guild of Mongers is the largest in Hannasea. Unfortunately this sometimes works to its disadvantage as the ironmongers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, costermongers, and othermongers all bicker over priorities while more focussed guilds advance their own interests more assiduously. New Blopping, the modern industrial part of the First City of Blopping, is home to the Guild, but the Mongers have guildhouses in every town and city. The first stadium will be the home ground of New Blopping City [The Big Mong] and visitors should make sure to check out the stadium’s trademark delicacy, cheesy-fishy-vegetable curry (just be careful to mind the iron filings). The smaller stadium [Bleakburn Homestead] is home to a Federation Hateball League side, Deldover Park. Based in the suburban community of Deldover Park, the small, modern stadium is surprisingly well appointed and caters to a more middle class of fan than The Big Mong.

Brenecia (1)
Racing (11)
Sylestone (18)
Sahuarita (UR)

Management Consultants Group
Not all Hannasean guilds are rooted in medieval trades. The Guild of Management Consultants only received its charter in the 20th century, but has grown rapidly. Professional services form an important part of the Hannasean economy. The wealth and power of this precocious guild is reflected in the fact that, being based in Greenfield, which does not have a Federation Hateball League team, they’ve built two new stadiums for the tournament. The first [Katie Walsh Stadium] is just across from the Science Park outside the city and fans will be taken there by a quick shuttle train service; the second [Chalcester Gardens] is based within the city and is a 100% eco-sustainable stadium (helpfully, no one knows what that means).

Vdara (5)
Esportivan Darmen (9)
Gouvanarch (24)
The Licentian Isles (UR)

Skinners and Tailors Group
The Guild of Skinners and Guild of Merchant Tailors are locked in a historic tussle over sixth place in the order of precedence of Hannasean guilds. They alternate year on year, but with the CE being a likely once-in-a-lifetime opportunity both wanted to sponsor the sixth group. So they’re co-sponsoring it. Because this is the Skinners’ year of seniority, they’ve won the right to the first seed games, which will take place at the home ground of Lampton United [Butterpond Street], a ground whose lovely quaint name is somewhat at odds with it being built on the foundations of an old skinning plant. The Merchant Tailors are based in Brethwick but the second stadium [Portsmore Community Stadium] will be in the nearby town of Portsmore, where the imaginatively named Federation Hateball League side Portsmore Town play.

Xanneria (4)
Burgburgh (12)
Vangaziland (23)
Panarialion (UR)

Musicians Group
The coat of arms of the Guild of Musicians includes a lute and a harpsichord. Today most of its members use electric guitars or keyboards, however. An ancient guild that’s been able to move with the times, it’s neither the richest nor most powerful but always seems to keep chugging along (as reflected in Hannasea’s notoriously strict copyright laws). The guild is sponsoring based in Butterfly City. The home ground of the team of the same name [Swordbreak Road] is the largest in the country and will host the games for the first seed; the arena of cross-town rivals Butterfly United [Princess Park] is quite a bit smaller.

Hampton Island (2)
Damukuni (14)
Tumbra (22)
A random place (UR)

Solderers Group
The Guild of Solderers were once a trade association for people who repaired lead roofs, but their stock rose with the electronics revolution. While Hannasea doesn’t have much of a heavy industry base, specialist electronics manufacture has been a major specialism and the guild have become wealthy and powerful to such an extent that they’re able to sponsor the group in Pearl City itself, Hannasea’s biggest, richest city and home of the two leading clubs in the country, Pearl City United and Pearl City Rovers. United play at the only ground in the country to have already hosted international football [Jellyblooble Bay Park] and will be host to the first seeds. Rovers’ no less impressive ground [The Consternation Station] is reserved for the other games.

Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom (6)
The Golden Lotus (13)
Ceyne Isles (21)
Nuovo Juvencus (UR)

Who?

Hannaseans are a friendly, peaceful people. They love sport (though not, usually, soccer) and are very interested in business and trade. With a major tourist sector, Hannaseans are generally very welcoming of foreign visitors. English is the main language; there are scattered communities where French is spoken but even there everyone will understand English. The most common religion in the country is Judaism, but the Hannasean state is secular and Hannaseans themselves generally not strongly observant. You won’t see much difference between Shabbat and other days of the week in terms of activity, though as Passover falls during this tournament, you may see some related offers in supermarkets or witness hotels organizing special dinners. Churches, temples, and buildings of most other faiths can be seen, not in great number; there are no mosques, though, and the burqa is illegal. Reasonable accommodation will be made for other faiths, but in general religion doesn’t play a big role in Hannasean public life. The Coffee Ministry is responsible for organizing sports so they will be the major government ministry visitors interact with, along with the Tea Ministry (finance), Wool Ministry (social affairs) and, hopefully not, Copper Ministry (security and defence).

What?

Hannasea is a federation of twelve city-states. It is technically a Guild Federation, formed by a compact signed by the major guilds dating back from medieval industries. Because of this, trade has always been at the centre of Hannasean public life: most televisions are tuned to the SuperBusiness channel, the stock market is the usual topical of conversation over breakfast, and shops are well stocked with produce from around the region and the wider world despite a lack of a heavy industrial base or intensive agriculture. Hannaseans prefer to buy from other countries than spoil their own beautiful environment. Finance is strongly associated with the country, including banks offering strict customer secrecy, and a cluster of hedge funds in Pearl City who’ve built up their algorithmic trading models around super-fast internet connections. The lack of heavy industry doesn’t mean it’s a sleepy place, though, as the picturesque scenery draws in sustainable tourism for everything from action sports including skiing, mountain biking and whitewater rafting to cultural pursuits such as historical tours and brewery trips. Most of the cities boast bustling nightlife and even in the countryside meals and drinks are served late into the night.

When?

Hannasea is a modern tech nation. Though not as advanced as some in the region, this is more because of a deliberate choice to forsake heavy industry at the expense of environmental conservation than a lack of scientific prowess. High-tech consumer goods, usually manufactured overseas, are found in all the shops; even in the most remote rural communities, high-speed internet and 5G phone service are commonly available; Hannaseans love their social media, but those who prefer to look beyond such earthly concerns will find asteroid mining companies listed on the stock exchange and news stories full of inventions and developments in fields from pharmaceuticals to computer software. A few typical features of modern tech nations are absent, though. The first is weaponry: though civilian gun ownership is legal, it’s not common to see Hannaseans carrying weapons in public, and armed police are specialist divisions we hope no visitors have the cause to see. The Hannasean military is small-to-nonexistent, and the state generally relies on private military contractors in the rare event of such services being needed at all. You won’t see many planes overhead: other than a few small private airfields, there are no mainland airports, with most air traffic instead being routed offshore to the Coconut Island Airport. This is where foreign teams will probably arrive from, then being taken to the mainland by ferry. Hannasea’s bustling ports on the Incomprehensible Peninsula are major commercial trade hubs and also welcome huge cruise liners, while other sections of the Coral Coast are strictly preserved as marine reserves. The most significant feature of modern life to be absent will be noticed in the lack of cars. While not technically illegal, they are de facto extinct. Anyone insisting on bringing their own car will need to make sure it complies with hundreds of environmental regulations (the first of which being the lack of an internal combustion engine) and pay assorted taxes and charges. It’s much cheaper and easier to use the excellent rail network. Every major city has subway, tram, and monorail systems as well, while cable-car and sky-rail systems are to be found in the country. Bicycles are very common.

Where?

Ah. Good question. Hannasea is in Esportiva but until the next map update probably shouldn’t be nailed down to a specific location. That said, all of the following can be safely assumed: it’s on the main Esportivan landmass, east of The Hinodejin Empire, north of Bodensee, Lake Esper, and Super-Llamaland, but probably bordering none of them; it’s an Alpine state with big mountains (such as Green Mountain, the highest peak, and Silver Mountain, the famous ski resort) and lakes (such as Lake Took, the largest, and Lake Carrier, the deepest) in the interior; it has a coastline, including the long Coral Coast and the Incomprehensible Peninsula; it’s structured around 12 constituent cities, with lots of greenery in between; it has overland rail links to the interior of the region, but no major road links; it has an off-shore island airport and a few other small islands; it’s a small nation and its population of 37 million is mainly urban. Beyond that, things might have to be kept vague for now. The twelve major cities are: Blopping (which comprises the First City of Old Blopping, the ceremonial capital, and New Blopping, the more modern quarters); Pearl City (the largest and wealthiest city); Butterfly City; Pintook; Kent; Lampton; Brethwick; Upper Niedewe; Greenfield; Oak Park; Angelwood; and Silver Creek.

Why?

Another good question. Hannaseans, you see, don’t much care for soccer. Visitors might see signs advertising something called ‘hateball’, and be surprised to see those signs growing in number the closer they get to the soccer stadiums. Turns out that’s what Hannaseans generally call soccer, on account of how much they hate it; ‘football’ generally refers to rugby football. The country’s major sport is field hockey; rugby union, baseball and winter sports are also very popular. The Federation Hateball League comprises just ten teams, and plays at a low level; Hannasea has rarely entered soccer tournaments before despite competing in a variety of other sports, though it did send a team to the last Summer Olympics. The team was a women’s team; soccer is almost exclusively a women’s sport in the Federation, with boys generally playing rugby. But Hannaseans are no stranger to hosting less popular sports, having previously hosted the World Cup of Hockey – that is, of ice hockey, despite field hockey being far more popular. The Federation welcomes tourists and the Council has made no secret of wanting to build trade links with Esportivan partners, and if a soccer tournament is the only option on the table, then a soccer tournament it is. Don’t expect mass enthusiasm for the tournament from the native population, but there should also be no trouble with hooliganism or a negative reception to the home team doing poorly, and there should be lots of tickets available for visiting fans. Almost all the tickets, in fact.

And lo, the Burgeoisie decided the Campionato was worth their time once more. And the football was good.

Burgburgh sits on a high, dry, sun-baked plateau where only the hardiest vegetation survives. As a result their economy revolves around livestock, leveraging animals that can take the barest inputs and produce something of value. The ranchers of the nation are hardy and determined, and that extends past their work to their favored pastime--the sport of football.
Style: 0

Starters
GK - Levi Odell - Burga - Foreman at one of the Burgburgh's few, and very valuable, hops farms. Likes to leave a bitter taste in the mouths of opposing strikers.
LB - Jojo Gärtner - Burgtopia FC - One of the city-based rooftop ranchers. Watches too much anime and strikes stupid poses after doing something mildly noteworthy.
CB - Anacleto Torres - Los Burgeles FC - Dairy specialist, whole division. Has a viscous stare.
CB - Hyram Tolbert - AFC Hamburg - Local ranchhand that likes kicking people.
RB - Cailin Walker - Burgerdam FC - Irrigation engineer. Great at cutting off routes.
LM - Erick Honeycutt - Burgham Bulls - Beekeeper. Swift as a bee and stings like a bee.
CM - Patty McNamara - Burg City Excelsior - Safety inspector that handles the nation’s largest ranches. Tireless and sharp-eyed.
CM - Cándido Samuel - Burgopoli SC - Procurement specialist for a conglomerate of fast food chains. Distribution specialist for the team.
RM - Wendolyn Fairburn - Burgburgh Royale - Spokesperson for Down Home Burg Kitchen, the leading casual restaurant. Has had several controversies over how much time she actually spends on the ranch. Very technical on the pitch.
ST - “Sunshine” Lewin - Burg City Excelsior - Greenhouse engineer. Tends to take overly optimistic shots.
ST - Celeste Forester - Burga - Soil quality scientist. Adapts to poor pitch conditions very quickly.

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Black Eagles

Image

The Tumbran National Football Team is Tumbra's main representative in all association football competitions for national associations. Making its debut at the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, the team currently ranks 117th in the world. The team is controlled by the Tumbran Football Federation, which is also the governing body of football in Tumbra. Also known as the Black Eagles, or affectionately the Eagles, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions; it also participates in the Campionato Esportiva, and aims to send junior teams to the Di Bradini Cup for Under 21s and the Sporting World Cup for Under 18s.

The National Team arrives for the Campionato with the faint sense that the team have done well at this competition before - indeed, the confidence that emanates from the team is almost palpable. With another season of domestic football completed, national team manager Marco Hemmings has seen fit to reward certain players with spots in the final 23. Controversial? Perhaps. But Hemmings has never been one to shy away from controversy, what with his fast-paced passing and running style.

Goalkeepers
No Pos Player Age Caps Goals Club
1 GK Louis Addison 29 21 0 Lakewood United FC
12 GK Nigel Philipps 27 0 0 Ridgewell Rovers
13 GK John Lennon 30 0 0 Lakewood City FC

Addison, despite not having the best of seasons with Lakewood United, retains the starting spot for the tournament. A lithe goalkeeper with good reflexes and strong shot-stopping instincts, he is a good, solid hand in goal. His deputies for the tournament will be Nigel Philipps - Golden Glove winner in the domestic season that just ended, keeping 16 clean sheets - and John Lennon, the custodian for title-winners Lakewood City FC. Lennon will perhaps feel a bit aggrieved that he isn't on here - after all, he only let in 35 goals compared to Addison's 48 and Philipps' 37; but having supplanted the likes of David Gough and Nick Barker, there is a general sense that the quality about the goalkeeping department has improved, and all the better for it.

Defenders
No Pos Player Age Caps Goals Club
2 RB Russell White 27 18 0 Clyde Park
19 RB Nigel Harris 24 9 0 Lakewood United FC
4 CB Harry Henderson 25 19 0 Kingsbury United
5 CB Johnny Brown (c) 32 18 1 Lakewood United FC

14 CB Wayne Forrest 23 0 0 Straton FC
20 CB Ian Ashburn 21 6 0 Lakewood City FC
23 CB Louis Paterson 24 0 0 Lakewood City FC
3 LB Ryan Hughes 26 0 0 Lakewood City FC
18 LB Marcus Bradley 21 3 0 Clark City

The starting defensive lineup of Henderson and Brown remains, but there are some major shake-ups otherwise. Marcus Bradley, who was dropped for the Cup of Harmony, is back in the side, though he looks to play second fiddle to left-back of the year Ryan Hughes, who looks to be finally making his debut for the Eagles at this campaign. It's expected that Hughes will be the more defensively solid option, and Bradley will come on late in the game should the team be in need of an extra goal - after all, his runs from his left-wing back position for Clark City has caught eyes throughout the season, and he was instrumental in their fight against the drop. Right-back Russell White is also back, having had an extremely successful campaign for Clyde Park, in which they came fourth. His deputy will be Nigel Harris, who also played for the team in the WC87 qualifiers. The duel between them for the starting spot will ensue again, presumably.

Serving as backups to the starting centre-back lineup are Wayne Forrest - a defender who had a quietly good season for the Senators at centre-back, lifting them to a third-placed finish in the league, and prodigious talent yet known playboy Ian Ashburn, who plays for Lakewood City. Joining them is Lakewood City defensive stalwart Louis Paterson, who typically plays at right back but can also fill in at centre-back, which is presumably the role he will play here. Fast, strong and a good passer on the ball, this defence has proven during the qualifiers that it's leaky, but as the team will tell you, 1-1 draws with Pasarga and that win over Hampton Island can also show how strong this team can be.

Midfielders
No Pos Player Age Caps Goals Club
6 CM Vincent Hicks 21 18 3 Hesham FC
8 CM Craig McGrath 24 14 1 Serrapince FC
10 CAM Adam Herlinger 30 13 5 Lakewood United FC

15 CDM Michael Aitken 29 0 0 Straton FC
16 CAM Phil Cole 21 0 0 Lakewood City FC

With stalwarts Keenan Pollard and Ted Houghton announcing their international retirements following the Cup of Harmony to try and extend their club careers, the midfield talent pool has shrunk considerably - but the main core of Hicks, McGrath and Herlinger are still here, eager to create and run rings around the centre of the field, confusing opponents with their lightning-quick passes and ball-carrying abiities. Recently relegated yet talented midfielder Alan Morgan did not make the final squad, much to his consternation - his move to a Big Six club (probably Lakewood City) will sort those issues out, most likely, and earn him a place back in the squad. For now, however, Michael Aitken comes in as the specialised deep-seated midfielder, while talented youngster Phil Cole from title winners Lakewood City earns a spot in this team by merit of his electric play and ability to seamlessly link up with the wingers and forwards.

Wingers
No Pos Player Age Caps Goals Club
7 RW Robin Vaughn (vc) 26 21 6 Lakewood City FC
9 LW Neil Fraser 23 16 5 Clyde Park

17 RW Dean Cresswood 27 1 0 Clyde Park
21 LW Dylan van Heirolf 21 11 2 Kingsbury United

A bit of a sore spot here for hopefuls Francis Evers, Alex Anderson and Mike Coonan, who've all failed in their bids to get into this squad - Hemmings has gone for a familiar lineup that features four players that appeared during the World Cup qualifiers. And what a quartet they are, too. Vaughn comes off a title-winning season in which he won Player of the Year, too - his utility to the team, being able to play on the right or up top makes him one of the most valuable players on the team.

His counterpart on the opposing flank, Neil Fraser, isn't to be sniffed at either - one of the three players who brought Clark to that sixth placed finish in this squad, Fraser has already been attracting attention from abroad and is expected to be one of the first high-profile moves abroad in order to kickstart a new wave of Tumbran football's exports. His team-mate, Dean Cresswood, is also present - expect him to not feature as much (after all, his direct competition's Tumbra's current best player) but he knows how the squad functions, and is a reliable alternative when he needs to be.

Youngster Dylan van Heirolf, also touted as a star of the future, also returns. His fight with Fraser for the left-wing spot will be one to behold, for sure.

Strikers
No Pos Player Age Caps Goals Club
11 ST Philip Cohen 25 19 11 Lakewood United FC
22 ST Marcus Sheldon 29 2 0 Couno Rangers

Two of Tumbra's most pre-eminent strikers. Philip Cohen takes the starting spot because of his known connection with Alan Herlinger - the two famously linked up for the Eagles' unbeaten run during the qualifiers - while Marcus Sheldon, whose technique and power, along with finishing ability - lands him in the second spot. Sheldon missed out on his audition to be the striker for the Eagles due to his back injury during the World Cup campaign, which meant that Hemmings had to call upon John Bridges - who, as the footballing community found out, was quickly getting past it - and Bruce Nolan, who was still a little raw for the full international stage. Perhaps James Anderson, Lakewood City's striker, can feel a tad aggrieved by not being included - but Hemmings has chosen to play it safe, and to try to get as far as possible during this CE.

Finally, the reserves list. If any of the players even get injured before the tournament starts, then these will be the players on the plane to Hannasea to replace them. A veritable bunch - David Gough's an experienced hand in goal, Simon Hart played at left back for a majority of the qualifiers but has since been dropped for Hughes, Tyler's been relatively solid at the back for Couno. Morgan didn't make the squad for reasons stated above, but is still in consideration for a spot. Evers and Coonan have been ever-present for their squad recently, and Anderson's efforts up top for Lakewood City haven't gone un-noticed. It's worth noting that these players make up a very good B-side lineup for the team, and look set to come in for the qualifiers for the 88th World Cup.

Big shout out to Ziwana for making this kit. Despite Sylestone's national side being Appliances, there have been complaints from the public about not having a kit, so we have taken that into account.

Brick Wall
Position: Goalkeeper
About: The Brick Wall is quite literally a Brick Wall in the goals, stopping almost every shot. However, his dimensions are far off the dimensions of a soccer goal, so goals still go in as he shuffled around.
Dirty Tactics: Ramming into the occasional striker who dribbles the ball towards him instead of just shooting.

Ironing Board
Position: Defender
About: The Ironing Board is well known across Sylestone for his brilliant defence and his ability to stop almost every dribbling striker in their tracks.
Dirty Tactics: Used his flexible legs to stop the ball from passing through the defence and uses his iron to warn off opposing strikers with its heat.

Dishwasher
Position: Defender
About: The Dishwasher is an interesting character in the Sylestonean defence. His large body stops a lot of balls from going into the goalmouth.
Dirty Tactics: Speed water everywhere in the defence, especially in the second half, which bogs the playing field, stopping many offensive moves in their tracks.

Tumble Dryer
Position: Striker
About: One of Sylestone’s main two strikers, the Tumble Dryer is a brilliant but inaccurate goal scorer for the Sylestonean side. One to watch.
Dirty Tactics: Spins the ball around in his Dryer and flings it at the goal. Also shuts the machine and carries the ball inside it.

Washing Machine
Position: Defender
About: Another large sentient object in the defence, the Washing Machine is once again, another player who stops many offensives with his large body.
Dirty Tactics: Is basically a combination of the Dishwasher and Tumble Dryer. Spews water everywhere and flings the ball out of himself at odd angles.

Sofa
Position: Defender
About: Sylestone's defence is full of their largest sentient athletes and the Sofa is the largest of them. His defence has been the best all tournament and he runs the backline. A lot will be reliant on him if Sylestone are to get a respectable result this tournament.
Dirty Tactics: Can speak into the minds of opposition, giving them a feeling of wanting to sit down and relax.

Fridge:
Position: Midfielder
About: Another large object, but this time it is located in Sylestone's midfield. He is the king of dirty tactics and runs opponents down with his buff body. Easily the most laughable of all of the Sylestonean Appliances.
Dirty Tactics: Has many of them, most of which can't be named. His main one is shutting his door and running towards the goal with the ball inside. Others include his super-appliance jumping skills and cold breath.

Bar Stool
Position: Midfielder
About: If the Fridge is the dirtiest, the Bar Stool is the cheekiest. He doesn't have any of his own dirty tactics, but he "allies" with another object and uses them to perform his own. Definitely an unpredictable character and one to watch out for.
Dirty Tactics: One of his tactics is to be the one who kicks the ball inside the Fridge when he goes off on his run. He also stands on other objects to reach high balls.

Drawer
Position: Defender
About: One of Sylestone's lesser defenders, the Drawer is quite a stationary object in the defence. He stands in your road and doesn't let you past and is more of a sweeper. Still, a force to be reckoned with, though.
Dirty Tactics: Keeps the ball in one of his chests when they are doing well so the opposition has a lesser chance of scoring.

Stove:
Position: Midfielder
About: I always thought a Stove without pots and pans would be useless, but it isn't so. This stove has a couple of sneaky tricks up his sleeve and is certainly one of the Sylestonean players the opposition midfielders need to deal with sooner rather than later.
Dirty Tactics: Makes the air really hot around him, as opposed to the Fridge.

Mixer
Position: Striker
About: Arguably Sylestone's most valuable player, the Mixer is a star dribbler and striker. His goal scoring ratio isn't so great and that is mainly the Tumble Dryer's job, but he is the one that actually gets the ball to that point. However, he is quite unpredictable and sometimes his dribbling skills go horribly wrong, especially considering the ball is about the size of his body.
Dirty Tactics:
Weaves in and out of defenders with his tiny size and amazing dribbling skills. Gets unplugged a bit too often, though.

Reserves:
Table - Goalkeeper
Spiderwebs - Midfielder
Toilet - Defender
AC Vent - Striker
Nokia - Defender

Staff:
Manager: Toilet
Coach: Toaster

National Team Stats:
All-time record: 41 wins, 27 draws, 67 losses

Licentian National Football Team

The Licentian Isles have been isolated from the rest of Esportiva, and the multiverse for that matter, for a number of years. In their first tournament back however, observers might feel that little has changed regarding the Cyan-and-Gold throughout that period of lost time. The style is still the same with defensive, hard-tackling, long ball football; the classic hallmarks of a Licentian team. They may be two time winners of the Campionato Esportiva, but the Isles go into the 29th edition in Hannasea with no illusions; they will have their work cut out for them.

Head Coach - Fabrizio Kaal
Despite only recently being hired by Montfort Wanderers, Fabrizio Kaal has already been poached by the FALI after leading the Whites to an unexpected LPL title. Despite playing a different style of football while in charge of the Wanderers, it seems the pressure of managing the Isles on their return to international football has led Kaal to go back to the old ways, dropping the diamond midfield and two strikers that have helped his sides win in the past. It remains to be seen whether it’s a gamble that will pay off.

Squad:

Goalkeepers:

1 - Caitlin Fraser - 31 years - Glenmount Town
12 - Sam Heijnis - 27 years - St Thomas
13 - Leland Wood - 23 years - Montfort Wanderers

There was no question who would wear the gloves for the Cyan and Gold going into their return to the Campionato. Even if her side didn’t manage to win the title they deserved, Caitlin Fraser is in a class of her own between the sticks. Sam Heijnis performed well for St Thomas, especially in their FALI Cup win against Celtic, but he has been pushed by Leland Wood, who impressed for Montfort Wanderers on their way to the title.

Full Backs:

2 - Cam Spijker - 30 years - St Bart’s Dutch
3 - Rowan Findlay - 24 years - Montfort Wanderers

14 - Maria Reilly - 20 years - Blackheath

The Isles are struggling for outstanding full backs, but the current crop are by no means awful. Rowan Findley impressed in a fairly stalwart Wanderers defence under Kaal, and Cam Spijker was one of the few bright spots for St Bart’s Dutch this year, while also adding more experience at the back. The youngest defender called up by Fabrizio Kaal is Maria Reilly of Blackheath, who benefits from her versatility on either side of the back four in earning a call.

Centre Backs:

4 - Lucia Allen - 26 years - Abingdon Celtic
5 - Flora Watson - 28 years - St Thomas

15 - Phoebe Hay - 30 years - Gaelic Club
16 - Harris Shaw - 21 years - Waterfleet

Last season this would have been a centre half pairing formed entirely at Abingdon Celtic, but while Lucia Allen remains with them (and had a strong season despite losing her best defensive partner), Flora Watson has reinvigorated her career with a move to St Thomas. Phoebe Hay, from the other major club in the second city, is an experienced hand to bring off the bench, while Harris Shaw is one of two young Fleet players to earn a call up for the trip to Hannasea.

Holding Midfielders:

6 - Alex Graham - 29 years - Montfort Wanderers
17 - Saul van Duuren - 21 years - Waterfleet

This is the pressure position for Licentians; very few Cyan-and-Gold outfits have gone without a holding midfielder in international tournaments. Alex Graham benefits from a fantastic year with the champions, and will likely start in that position in Hannasea, while Saul van Duuren, one of the best young talents in the Isles, will hope for minutes off the bench.

Centre Midfielders:

8 - Tom Johnston - 33 years - Stonehouse Athletic
10 - Arlo McGregor - 22 years - Montfort Wanderers

18 - Josh Williams - 24 years - SC Montfort
19 - Thomas Hughes - 19 years - Houghton Rangers (on loan from Montfort Wanderers)

The starting midfield pair will be one of contrasts. Tom Johnston, who will captain the Cyan-and-Gold, is enjoying the twilight of his career with Stonehouse after making the move away from the capital, while Arlo McGregor is the young talent that led the attack for Wanderers in their title win. McGregor’s teammate Thomas Hughes spent the year with relegated Houghton Rangers, but still came out having shown his skill in attack, while Josh Williams, a set piece specialist, is the only player from SC called up by the former Wanderers manager.

Wingers:

7 - Miles Henderson - 25 years - Abingdon Celtic
11 - Lyle Hughes - 27 years - Glenmount Town

20 - Scarlet McKenzie - 21 years - Thornhill United
21 - Wisse Tuininga - 23 years - St Bart’s Dutch

Licentians will be relying on two wingers from Abingdon Parish to create most goalscoring opportunities for the Cyan-and-Gold in Hannasea. Miles Henderson came out of a difficult season for Celtic still looking like one of the best players in the Isles, while Lyle Hughes consistently created chances for the Mountaineers in their title challenge. While Wisse Tuininga struggled this season with the captain’s armband, he is still considered to be a strong future talent in the Isles. The other winger, Scarlet McKenzie, is the only player called up from the second tier; many expect her to make an upward move soon on the back of this call up.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Ruaridh Grant - 24 years - Gaelic Club
22 - Tiago Weiling - 28 years - St Thomas
23 - Anne-Linde van Oers - 21 years - Broadwood

Even though Ruaridh Grant was the top goalscorer in the Licentian Premier League by a distance at the end of last season, there were some questions over whether he would start for the Isles in the Campionato. Fabrizio Kaal has since confirmed that he will favour Grant in the 9 shirt, but Tiago Weiling had a fantastic season for the Sky Blues, and young Anne-Linde van Oers impressed despite Broadwood being relegated.

Formation - 4-5-1 (Skill Modifier: -2):
Kaal has dropped his style when managing Montfort Wanderers for a more traditional Licentian style; a 5 man midfield with a playmaking holding midfielder, pacey wingers and a lone striker with the ability to hold up the ball and prowess in the air. The wingers will often drop back alongside the central midfielders, especially in defence, occasionally encouraging overlaps from the full backs. Set pieces will be an important part of the Licentian game at the Campionato. It is hoped that this slightly defensive style will lead the Licentians further than an all-out attack against more experienced teams.

Home Stadiums:
The FALI (Football Association of the Licentian Isles) have decided that multiple stadiums will be used to host Licentian international games in the future. One stadium from each parish has been selected to host games, and they are all the most equipped in their area. However, most Licentian stadiums equipped for international matches (in fact, all of them apart from LTI Stadium) have some areas of terracing or standing areas, some of which may be allocated to travelling supporters. If you are interested in the specific allocation your nation will receive, and the seated-standing split, please contact the FALI (OOC - me, by TG or Discord).

LTI Stadium:
Location - Montfort, Montfort Parish
Capacity - 75,000 (all seated)
Home Side - Montfort Wanderers, traditional home of the Licentian Isles National Football Team

Gardiner-Stewart Stadium:
Location - Abingdon, Abingdon Parish
Capacity - 62,000 (48,000 seated)
Home Side - Abingdon Celtic

Barton Software Arena:
Location - Colesham, Colesham Parish
Capacity - 47,000 capacity (42,000 seated)
Home Team - Colesham Athletic

St Bart’s Oval:
Location - St Bart’s, St Bart’s Parish
Capacity - 45,500 (23,000 seated)
Home Team - St Bart’s United

For details on how to get to the Licentian Isles, how to get around once you are here, general enquiries about the parish your team will be hosted in, or facilities at each ground, please contact the FALI (OOC - again, me, by TG or Discord).

Visitors to the Licentian Isles for international matches should note that there are a growing number of football hooligans, known on the Isles as “casuals”, who are always liable to cause disruption and possibly attack fans travelling to the Licentian Isles. Travelling supporters are advised to wear team colours wherever possible (as casuals will not attack fans wearing colours without provocation), and avoid areas of the Isles populated by violent casual groups, along with trying to avoid these groups at matches. Most casual groups will be easily identifiable by banners they carry or songs they sing. Groups to avoid (with associated club and parish) include:

Jolly Roger (Garton Bay Pirates, Montfort Parish)
Capital City Squad (Montfort North End, Montfort Parish)
Real Celts (Gaelic Club, Abingdon Parish)
Colliery Casual Crew (Colesham Rovers, Colesham Parish)
Island Riot Squad (St Bart’s United, St Bart’s Parish)
Licentian Border Squad (St Thomas, St Bart’s Parish)

Nations should also note that some casual or ultra groups may travel in force with the Licentian national team for international matches outside the Isles. Not all are violent, but most will carry flares and large banners, and make use of them to build up the atmosphere during a match. If your nation bans this kind of behaviour, please make the FALI aware so that we can warn fans travelling to your nation in advance.

For any more information on Licentian casuals, please contact the FALI (OOC - you know the drill).

Trivia Information:

In A random Place, anything is decided by random luck. Every month, a random president is selected out of literally anyone in the country to decide everything. The people are aware of the obvious downsides, but never cared. The latest randomly decided President, a 7-year-old Soccer fan named Doodus Lanksman, decided (among several other, perhaps even more stupid things) that there would be a random squad of players entering the Campionato Esportiva, just for fun. A random Place had only recently found out that they were technically located in Esportiva, which no one there really cared about. As such, here is the team the Randoms will be sending.

Head coach:
As a head coach, the Randoms decided to give Brian Adkins, the 53-year-old manager of the Tumbran team Newton Wanderers AFC the job, because no better options were available. He gets to try and teach 17 Randoms how to play football. In true Randomer fashion, they will rely mostly on luck. Please feel free to make things as ridiculous as you want. He also claimed that he was definitely signed before A random Place and Tumbra were placed in the same group and that that would definitely not impact anything.

Sahuarita
Formation: 4-2-4
Style Mod: +5
Most Likely To...
Score: Anthony Sáez
Assist: Rubén Covarrubias
Get a caution: Hugo Espiga
Score a late game goal: Christian Quesada

Coaching
Head Coach: Franco Tejedor
Pronunciation: Franc-oh Ta-yeh-door
Age: 48
Experience: 21-35, Midfielder, Zapomoros United Image
36-41, Assistant, Zapamoros United Image
42-46, Head Coach, Zapamoros United Image
47-, NT Head Coach + Head Coach, Zapamoros United Image
An offensive minded genius, Franco Tejedor has experience at the top level of play for Sahuaritan Football. Tejedor played 14 years in the Liga Sahuarita. His tactics may seem different from many, as despite not playing an extremely offensive formation, his squad still plays the ball towards the net for most of the game. He will launch “Attack, Fall Back” plays, where the entire Midfield and Striker units will launch an all out attack, before falling back past midfield to get back and defend. His experience of coaching at an offensive minded top level is obviously a good piece for international play, where, as we have been seeing, squads seem to get more and more offensive minded by the cycle.

Assistants
Cristóbal Martínez
Pronunciation: Cris-toe-ball Mar-teen-yez
Age: 38
Experience: 19-27, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
28-31, Assistant, Tijuahua FC Image
32-38, Head Coach, Huixtoca Farms FC Image
Once regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the entire nation, Cristóbal Martínez’s career came to an end after being plagued with injuries for his entire career. He became an assistant, and was hired by Huixtoca Farms at the ripe age of 32. He helped them climb 3 divisions the last 7 years, and is a magic man on the bench. His offensive minded play has helped him get the job with the team.

Rafael Barrios
Pronunciation: Rah-fai-ell Berry-os
Age: 61
Experience: 18-26, Midfielder, Records Unknown Image
27-42, Player-Coach, Records Unknown/Zapamoros United Image
43-51, Assistant, Tijuahua FC Image
52-56, Head Coach, Tijuahua FC Image
57-61, Head Coach, Teconada United Image
The coach with by far the most experience out of all of the coaching staff on the team, Rafael Barrios holds the advantage of age and wisdom, which he uses greatly in the game. He has success at the top division of coaching. He also has had multiple years of experience with Martínez, so the two mesh very well on the coaching staff. He has put together many successful squads, including a championship team as an assistant at Tijuahua. His experience with many of the top midfielders, including Quesada are huge parts of the team.

Roster
Starting XI: Image
Goalkeepers
Justin Espinar
Height: 6-3
Weight: 197
Pronunciation: Juh-sten S-pin-yar
Age: 26
Experience: 19-23, Goalkeeper, Zapamoros United Image
24-, Goalkeeper, Oaxapan Sporting Club Image
Justin Espinar has been regarded as a generational talent in the Sahuaritan goalkeeper position. He has the smarts, and the size to be a great keeper. His athleticism however, may be the best part of his game. His experience with the coaching staff is among the best for goalkeepers, and likely most players at his age. He started from the ripe age of 19 years old, and hasn’t stopped his run of greatness, as he now enters as the National Team Starter.

Edmundo Sáenz
Height: 6-1
Weight: 177
Pronunciation: Edd-moon-dough Saiy-enz
Age: 21
Experience: 18-21, Goalkeeper, Teconada United Image
The goalie for the tenure that Rafael Barrios has been at Teconada before, Sáenz is a very intriguing prospect at the keeper position for this team. It is unlikely he starts, however we could see some action from him if Espinar is out at all. He is very athletic, but a very raw talent that needs more coaching before coming out as a solid starter on a national team.

Milagros Fonseca
Height: 6-6
Weight: 210
Pronunciation: Mill-a-gross Fon-Seck-a
Age: 33
Experience: 21-31, Goalkeeper, Zapamoros United Image
32-, Goalkeeper, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Milagros Fonseca is the most experienced keeper on the team by far. He has over 10 years of experience starting in the league, and also has played for multiple years on the team of Franco Tejedor. Right now, he is very unlikely to start, and seems more like a mentor to the younger keepers. He just doesn’t have the athleticism to start, unfortunately.

Left Backs
Víctor Gallo
Height: 6-2
Weight: 172
Pronunciation: Vic-tor Gal-oh
Age: 29
Experience: 18-29, Defender, Teconada United Image
Victor Gallo is one of the strongest defenders on the team, and it is clear why he will be starting at Left Back this cycle. His ability to play good 1 on 1’s with forwards in unmatched by other Sahuaritan defenders, and most defenders across the world. He is relatively conservative in his tactics, however, this does help fit the coaching staff’s defensive tactical ideas.

Gonzalo Beldad
Height: 5-11
Weight: 160
Pronunciation: Gahn-zahlo Bell-dad
Age: 31
Experience: 19-25, Defender, Huixtoca Farms FC Image
26-, Defender, Zapamoros United Image
Gonzalo Beldad was one of the defenders who helped Huixtoca Farms start their climb up the league system. He is one of the main reasons why they are in the premier division right now. He has some of the most skill you will find at the defensive position, however he lacks in Athleticism and Football IQ, so he will likely play as a rotation man rather than a starter.

Center Backs
Mateo Guillén
Height: 6-1
Weight: 176
Pronunciation: Mah-Tay-oh Gull-e-yen
Age: 32
Experience: 18-, Centre Back, Zapamoros United Image
Likely the most experienced starter on the team, Mateo Gullién has been a mainstay of the national team for 9 years now. He stepped on the team at age 23, and has been a solid starter since then. He has great football IQ, which has been proven in his experiences on the team. He may not be the best player, but he is a great symbolic leader with the off-ball smarts to start.

Hugo Espiga
Height: 6-3
Weight: 186
Pronunciation: Hugh-go Esp-eega
Age: 25
Experience: 18-19, Defender, Oaxapan Sporting Club Image
20-, Defender, Tijuahua FC Image
Hugo Espiga is a very special talent. He is a starting Center Back with loads of raw talent, and the coaches have been able to activate that talent recently. Espiga has been sitting behind Gullién for the starting CB spot for the past few years, however soon, he may take it over. With his speed, and agility, it is hard to go wrong with a player such as Espiga.

Tomas Tasis
Height: 6-3
Weight: 180
Pronunciation: Toe-mahs Tah-sees
Age: 20
Experience: 17-, Defender, AFC Puejuana Image
Tomas Tasis was one of the few members of the starting XI that survived the AFC Puejuana Season Forfeiture last year. Tasis has a very good attitude, and is very disciplined, he could be come the CB2 once Gullién starts to fall out of favor. Tasis has the skill to start, but much like Espiga, is an extremely raw player. He doesn’t see the field well yet, and it too aggressive in 1-1’s

Right Backs
Martin Galán
Height: 6-1
Weight: 170
Pronunciation: Mar-teen Gah-lahn
Age: 28
Experience: 18-24, Defender, Teconada United Image
25-, Defender, Zapamoros United Image
Martin Galán is one of the key parts of this defense. He is pretty skinny for a defender, however his endurance that lets him play all 90 minutes easily is possibly the best on the team. He has experience with coaches Franco Tejedor and Rafael Barrios, which puts him in a very good position to communicate with the coaches. Never be surprised when he comes in late in the game with some clutch, this guy has a lot of it.

Andrés Sánchez
Height: 6-2
Weight: 172
Pronunciation: Ahn-Dreas Shan-chahz
Age: 37
Experience: 19-37, Defender, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Andrés Sánchez is the old man of the team, but don’t doubt on him. He is the second in line for captain, and he hasn’t even started in 3 years. The presence of Sánchez makes the players of the team men, and he shows why. At this point, he almost acts like a player coach, his IQ of the game is among the best, and even though he doesn’t have the skill he once had, he is a key motivator of the team.

Right Midfielder
Christian Quesada (Captain)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 194
Pronunciation: Chris-tain Kwae-Sahdah
Age: 28
Experience: 18-20, Midifielder, Teconada United Image
21, Midfielder, AFC Puejuana (Loan) Image
22-, Midifielder, Teconada United Image
Christian Quesada is the best player in all of Sahuarita. 3 MVP Rewards and a Golden Boot, while playing in the midfield, show that he is the most skillful in all the nation. He is a very hard player to contain from anywhere on the pitch. Coach Tejedor is confident with him controlling half of the midfield for this very reason. Expect to watch a lot from him, and expect lots of goals.

Angel Sánchez
Height: 6-4
Weight: 210
Pronunciation: Ain-gul Sahn-Chahz
Age: 26
Experience: 21-, Midfielder, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Sánchez is a skilled player, don’t get me wrong, however, his poor discipline makes him a tough player to play with. He racks up many cautions, and often turns those to red cards once he gets frustrated. He almost always plays behind a player like Quesada, which is unfortunate for him, because he is likely a good enough player to start on other teams.

Left Midfielders
Édgar Cortés
Height: 6-2
Weight: 178
Pronunciation: Ehd-gur Cohr-tez
Age: 25
Experience: 18-24, Midfielder, Huixtoca Farms Image
25-, Midfielder, Morannon Athletic Image
Edgar Cortes is another player that was part of the Huixtoca Farms FC rise to success. Since then, he has been the first Sahuaritan National to take a job playing in Rushmore, as he plays for Morannon Athletic. He is another member of the smaller and quicker players, and his 1-1 skill is among the best on the team, possibly only beat out by players like his Right Mid counterpart.

Alonso Saelices
Height: 6-1
Weight: 184
Pronunciation: Uh-Lohn-so Say-Liches
Age: 29
Experience: 18-27, Tijuahua United Image
28, Acalucan FC Image
29-, Banija Club
Alonso is another experienced midfielder who has experience playing internationally. Often times, (especially during domestic play), he is more of a wingback rather than a Left Midfielder, however, he is very versitale, and is able to slide in the team like a Swiss Army knife. After joining Acalucan FC last season, he quickly transferred to the Banija Second Division.

Left Wing
Rubén Covarrubias
Height: 6-5
Weight: 220
Pronunciation: Rew-been Coh-Varr-oh-bias
Age: 25
Experience: 21-25, Striker, Zapamoros United Image
Ruben is a large, lengthy forward who’s skill as a wing is vital to the team. He doesn’t have the most experience, or the most skill, but his Football IQ, which he has acquired from his multiple years of youth football coaching. He is very good at playing balls into the box, and has great chemistry with star forward Anthony Sáez. These 2 are the teams dynamic duo.

Gael Morillo
Height: 5-9
Weight: 165
Pronunciation: Gay-el Moor-ill-oh
Age: 19
Experience: 18-, Striker, Teconada United Image
Gael is a strong, small and speedy forward. He is the youngest player on the team, and right now, is unlikely to play over Covarrubias. His Young Player of the Year award last season put him on the map as one of the best young strikers in the nation. This cycle, he can look to start with a few minutes in and out, but has great potential.

Striker
Anthony Sáez
Height: 5-11
Weight: 175
Pronunciation: Ann-thon-e Sai-ez
Age: 28
Experience: 18-23, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
24-, Striker, Zapamoros United Image
Anthony is likely the strongest striker on this team. He is the star player of Franco Tejedor’s Zapamoros United team. His small stature may make him seem less intimidating, however his speed makes him a lethal threat from any part of the field. Sáez is a master of tactics, and has some of the best discipline on the field. He is a great threat. Watch for lots of goals from him.

Sebastián Dávalos
Height: 6-1
Weight: 199
Pronunciation: Seh-bah-stain Dah-vah-lohs
Age: 31
Experience: 18-29, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
30-, Striker, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Dávalos will be a very interesting player to watch over the next few cycles. He was once the man behind the Sporting Cajelaya powerhouse, however his skill has been diminishing, and with an injury over the past season, it is unclear whether he will start. He has good size, and solid 1-1 skill, along with a strong IQ of the game. His endurance however, is a very questionable part of his play.

Benjamín Sarmiento
Height: 5-10
Weight: 179
Pronunciation: Ben-Juh-meen Sahr-ee-meon-too
Age: 28
Experience: 17-, Striker, Acalucan FC Image
At Acalucan FC, Sarmiento commanded the Offensive unit pretty much all on his own. This let him get a large number of goals, despite lagging in skill against the rest of the team. He is a great field general, however due to his large frame, he struggles greatly with jump balls and 1 on 1’s.

Carmelo Arboleda
Height: 5-8
Weight: 170
Pronunciation: Car-melo Ahr-bold-uh
Age: 19
Experience: 18-, Striker, Teconada United Image
Arboleda is a developing striker who could soon become one of the stars of the team. He has a very small, yet developing frame, which could become bigger as he gains more weight with years. His speed and endurance are great already, but his raw talent points to him becoming more a project player for the future years rather than a solid starter by next cycle. Nevertheless, watch for him soon.

Right Wing
Julian Morillo
Height: 6-1
Weight: 189
Pronunciation: Jew-lien Mohr-ill-oh
Age: 26
Experience: 18-, Striker, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Morillo is the star of the right side of the field on this team. His strong frame, coupled with his speed and leg makes him a great weapon in the high half of the pitch. He is one of the main set piece players, and the Sahuaritans always look to use him on free kicks and corners. Morillo has the job locked up, however with a rough injury history, it may be possible his backup has to step in a bit.

Estefania Alarcón
Height: 6-3
Weight: 198
Pronunciation: Es-tefa-nia All-uh-rocon
Age: 24
Experience: 18-, Striker, Tijauhua FC Image
Alarcon is a striker who is able to dominate with his large size on many places of the pitch. He is used like a Swiss Army knife, however he doesn’t really have the skill to start at a large striker role. He has great IQ and also a good shot, but he does struggle with ball control, and his passing is below average. In summary, you can possibly look for him to come in late in games, but he doesn’t really have the skill to start.

CEYNE ISLES
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Like a crap lower-league Nepharan team, because they basically are. Big, strong and hardy.
Kit Supplier: from Anglatia
Captain: Murgen Knox
Nickname: the Pirates
Pronunciation Guide: "You'd have to be insane to live in Ceyne."

Ceynes' most entertaining players, Knox and Fortune, have retired internationally. They're here, essentially, to make up the numbers, but there's still enough to suggest that they might take points away from a real team.

First-choice lineup.
Built together through a handful of journeymen, most of whom have little professional experience. The Ceynes league is about as bad as professional leagues go, and while there's a side from the capital, Falston, in the Nepharan lower leagues, it's mostly made up of, well, Nepharim. Over time, the squad has become more even and less reliant on its stars... though it also has fewer stars.

Staff
Manager: Madison Forrest - Age 54
Groomed as Monica Brightwater's assistant, Forrest is a director of football for the island as a whole as much as a coach on the day.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Rasmus Garrick - Age 31 - Crisisbless Athletic (NPH)
12 - GK - Leoni Joyce - Age 23 - Falston United (NPH)
18 - GK - Vance Marcus - Age 25 - Roschester Pride

The promising Leoni Joyce will take her chance with both hands. She'll probably have plenty to do.

Defenders
2 - RB - Vivi Conlan - Age 23 - Southern Star (BRE)
3 - LB - Rachel Bastoni - Age 29 - Falston Bohemians
5 - CB - Constance Dray - Age 23 - Herty Hat Tricks (KND)
6 - CB - Sherry Brosnan - Age 26 - Morningstar (NPH)
13 - CB - Amalda Briar - Age 24 - Roschester City
19 - RB - Corsica Greene - Age 30 - Falkner United (BRE)
22 - LB - Trisha Nzonzi - Age 22 - US San Savola (SOR)

Arguably the strong point of the team as things stand, with Conlan probably the best-credentialled player of the lot after a meteoric recent rise. Dray's intelligent but slow, Brosnan fast but rash, and between them both capable of bouncing strikers off the metaphorical cobblestones.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Wellbeing Sullivan - Age 26 - Roschester City
7 - RM - Susanne Mpenza - Age 27 - Kohnhead City FC (KND)
8 - CM - Memphis Commons - Age 29 - Peregrine (NPH)
11 - LM - Rabican Monrow - Age 28 - IFK Liverpool United (DAR)
15 - CM - Darling Keates - Age 24 - Roschester City
16 - LM - Drea Bouman - Age 27 - Corinthians No Longer (NPH)
18 - HM - Kat Mundine - Age 25 - Falston United (NPH)
20 - RM - Beckett Carney - Age 23 - Randwick Town (BRE)

Mpenza is a fiery, unflappable pace merchant, Commons a sly, clever and streetwise box-to-box woman who has become something of a journeywoman, Monrow a tall, lean and cunning winger who has become the side's main source of assists. There's a yawning chasm in holding midfield. It's probably fine.

Forwards
9 - ST - Kilroy Holden - Age 31 - Roschester City
10 - ST - Seneca Kemp - Age 24 - Southrons-Errant (BRE)
14 - ST - Tempest Birch - Age 23 - Roschester Pride
17 - ST - Sanguine Kamau - Age 19 - Freeport Sharks
21 - ST - Crowley Mathers - Age 29 - AFC Westpike (BRE)

Crowley Mathers is the main goal threat, a tall, sharp, intelligent forward, but Seneca Kemp offers thrust and a finishing touch of her own. The depth is fairly thin; Birch is something of a rough diamond, Kamau might come to something someday and for now just boasts electrifying pace, and... yeah, Holden's there, too.
Former Nepharan territory, former Anglatian puppet, current Brenecian puppet. It's complicated, but probably not as much as it sounds.

Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: the Patriots

Another World Cup, another Ro16 exit. Brenecia have the look of a side just ticking over, and a young, experimental squad gives off that signal of 'transition period' very strongly. Lauren Cheney unilaterally decided to skive off the tournament two weeks out, to rest - not the most insane idea but something of a clear flout nevertheless. On the managerial side, this looks like the last two years for Brelk-Xeral, just to avoid things going stale.

First Team and Tactics

Pace, pace and pace. Brelk-Xeral's mantra isn't hard to understand. They have their side set up to overwhelm opponents with a high press, crowding them with bodies and it's impressive how well-drilled they are considering the limited amount of time international teams get on the training ground. It might be overly simplistic to say they just harry opponents into mistakes and capitalise, but... God, they are good at that. Parrish, their lethal wingers and the overlapping runs from the fullbacks are relied upon to break down parked buses, as well as the bulk of their centre-halves from set pieces.

Staff
Manager - Brelk-Xeral Erv (QUS) - Age 53
Asst. Manager - Jess Curtin - Age 50

Brelk-Xeral is a visionary. The canny Qusmi is a strong tactician with a forthrightness that gets things done, and their appreciation for open, attacking football meshes nicely with the Southern school of Brenecian football. They favour a solid, trusted core of talent, like Jim Reid - unlike Jim Reid, they are ruthless when it comes to removing players who can no longer pull their weight. The astute former international midfielder Jess Curtin offers the local touch as assistant, having survived the change in regime.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Scathach Wright (Image Raynor City United) - Age 29 - 77 caps, 35 clean sheets
C78 Galactico
An energetic and zealous sweeper, an acrobatic shot-stopper, an inspired distributor - Wright does a lot, and occasionally will make an error, but that's worth it. She's entering her prime, and with Brelk-Xeral's faith comes added responsibility; iron out the mistakes and she's genuinely world-class. She looks to have done just that.

12 - GK - Tiarnan Cove (Image Rozelle) - Age 27 - 3 caps
A modern goalkeeper, albeit one for whom height is his only weakness. Excellent with distribution and shot-stopping, and relishes going one-on-one with strikers.

20 - GK - Cairbre Dundalk (Image Chenoworth Rovers) - Age 25 - 1 cap
Despite being 5'8" - with all the weakness in the air that entails - Dundalk's made a name for himself as a brilliant reflex stopper who never lets errors get him down.

Defenders
2 - RB - Clovette Bravender (Image Ulsa) - Age 25 - 32 caps, 1 goal
A young rightback emerging at lightning speed into the public eye; her combination of blinding pace, limitless energy and enthusiastic slinging of crosses into the box mean that there's plainly something special here to develop.

3 - LB - Triss Roscommon (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 28 - 35 caps, 2 goals
A slender fullback growing in poise and technique with time and trust. The best fullbacks know when to hold 'em and fold 'em, and when to run (constantly); Roscommon has all these gifts and more, as any midfielder would be proud to have her passing range with her left.

5 - CB - Finn Leadbetter (Image Holdenberg) - Age 28 - 70 caps, 11 goals
A colossal defender who loves to put a bit of stick about. The art of defending and the joy of defending remain alive whenever Leadbetter is on the pitch. A serious destroyer of men in either box, and a genuine threat in set pieces.

6 - CB - Leona Ford (Image Workers Union) - Age 27 - 16 caps
An intelligent, thoughtful defender, ideal for a team who loves to keep the ball... and yet to actually play for one at club level. Nevertheless, her combination of confidence and pace should fit in well with an assertive, aggressive Brenecia.

17 - RB - Caithe Shepherd (Image Rozelle) - Age 27 - 29 caps
A pacy and diligent fullback, Shepherd always seems to be in the thick of the action. She still sporadically makes errors, leaves space, and lunges a little too eagerly into homicidal challenges. But just as one begins to despair, she saves the day at either end.

18 - CB - Casey Giltanan (Image Workers Union) - Age 24 - 31 caps, 4 goals
Giltanan's more than a statement about Brenecia's paper-thin stocks at centre-half. She is a bona fide talent, taking an early gamble in Eura and hoping it'll come off. Early signs are positive, with Giltanan's mixture of composure on the ball and bloody-mindedness off it papering over occasional lapses in concentration that time should beat out.

19 - LB - Deimne Watermark (Image Northern Stallions) - Age 28 - 32 caps, 1 goal
Watermark is a sharp and powerful defender, but his main claim to fame is once throwing up hungover during an A-League match the Stallions lost 8-0 as they claimed the title regardless. Combines the expected pace with considerable brawn.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Finn Townsend (Image Shamrock Cathair, c) - Age 31 - 77 caps, 1 goal
C78 Galactico
A pure destroyer, with verve to burn. Is a game really complete without a caution? Oh, Townsend is nothing but dirt - and the occasional rocket at goal. Has emerged into a clear leadership figure, resolute in the centre of the pitch. Moving to unfashionable Celtade has brought another level from him.

8 - CM - Esther Caitiff (Image Ulsa) - Age 27 - 66 caps, 16 goals
Expert at deft touches and ankle-taps, Caitiff combines a street-fighter's eye for sizing up an opponent with a devil-may-care attitude and the skill to live up to it. Somehow, Caitiff always finds herself embedded deep in the fray.

10 - AM - Dreigiau Parrish (Image KT Itzalovalle) - Age 26 - 26 caps, 8 goals
Parrish has a history with injuries that makes some nay-sayers wonder if he has what it takes to sustain more than the 30 games a season of the A-League, but Parrish is a balletic and graceful midfielder who spins easily past markers and, rarely for Brenecian players, strokes the ball around with comfort and ease.

11 - LW - Constance Stroud (Image Workers Union) - Age 26 - Uncapped
An elegant, tricky, two-footed presence darting around the pitch generally making a nuisance of herself. The squad's bolter, here in large part due to an injury for Tricia Pace.

13 - CM - Cheney Deal (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë) - Age 26 - 16 caps, 3 goals
More than just a bruiser, though Deal offers that. He runs tirelessly, battles for every ball, but more importantly knows where to run to and where to be. Technically, yes, he is somewhat less than gifted... but he'll never fade out of games, and has honed what gifts he has to their very apex.

15 - RW - Mathgamain Fife (Image Rozelle) - Age 23 - 11 caps, 4 goals
An industrious winger, Fife never stops running and never lets defenders feel comfortable. Direct to the point of tunnel vision, but his peerless pace and power combine to ensure he can batter his way through poor decisions and turn them into goals.

16 - LW - Fortune Russell (Image AC Izotz Zubia) - Age 26 - Uncapped
Speed typical of a winger, combined with a target man's muscle and a willingness to throw it about. She's not soon forgotten by opposing fullbacks. The squad's other bolter.

21 - AM - Felicia Brind (Image South Laithland) - Age 25 - 5 caps, 1 goal
Brind carries on the proud tradition of calling up someone born and raised in Nephara, though at least her incomprehensible Valeside drawl makes her less of an easy flashback to tattooed longbowmen. She's a deft, clever and diligent street footballer, deceptively fast and with an eye for goal.

22 - RW - Linoan Waters (Image Istria City FC) - Age 26 - 24 caps, 9 goals
Waters never stopped looking a little bewildered to be at this level. But she scored a hat-trick on her international debut, and while that was mostly a power-play from the manager she's found her way back into the team as a relentlessly incisive winger.

23 - DM - Ronan Schofield (Image Raynor City United) - Age 23 - 13 caps
An unnervingly commanding presence in the middle of the park, Schofield is oddly effortless in all his motions, whether in sweeping passes from flank to flank, or deftly bullying opponents out of possession.

Forwards
7 - ST - Rogue Lyrick (Image Lotus Park) - Age 23 - Uncapped
"If Cheney wants the number 7 back," Lyrick boasted, "she'll have to come and take it from me." Oh, she almost certainly will. But hey, self-belief matters.

9 - ST - Mhacha White (Image Farrenton Athletic) - Age 26 - 35 caps, 17 goals
Like Ursula Rankin, White made her way through FC Endeavour's overclocked reserves program, the Centre for Excellence, before seeking regular minutes elsewhere; like Ursula Rankin, she's a boxy poacher with a quick switch of pace and a great eye for turning. But she's tall. And might actually have a few more strings to her bow, too. The ride's been bumpier than she imagined, and yet, she remains.

14 - ST - Kitty Hazeldean (Image Marque) - Age 26 - 5 caps, 1 goal
A small, lean striker with blinding pace and a ruthless, killing edge. Hazeldean's background as a converted winger shows with an unorthodox but effective style, while her instincts to find goal help highlight why she was converted in the first place.

ABBREVIATED ROSTER
Goalkeepers:

Nation name: The Hannasean Federation
Trigram: HAN
Adjective/demonym: Hannasean
Nickname: Black Butterflies

Football (known as hateball in Hannasea) is an all-female sport. It is not played at a high level and players are a step below full international level. Several members of this squad competed at the last Olympics, which in Hannasean time was 3 years ago. The team is not very physically strong but have been working to improve fitness and reduce sloppy errors.

Coach: Aurelia Bates
Led the team at the last Olympics. Favours a narrow 4-3-1-2 set-up that depends on the full-backs pressing forward for width.

Image

Squad

GK Kalysta Judd Image Deldover Park
Not very tall (Hannasean women are notoriously fairly short) but Judd will dive about with gusto and isn't afraid to charge down onrushing attackers. Reserves: Constance Gill, Amaya Cook.

LWB Lexi Holmes Image Rozelle Archers
More of a wing-back option with good speed and crossing but a bit defensively weak. Played in Græntfjall for a couple seasons and has now moved to newly promoted B-league Brenecian side Rozelle Archers. Reserve: Lexie Kennedy.

CB Lucy Bell Image Winchester Traditional SC
Captain. Although more naturally a defensively minded fullback who lacks pace but is a good effective tackler, for the NT she plays in the center owing to the lack of defensive depth. Has a good long throw. Recently signed to play in Cassadaigua. Reserve: Mollie Price.

CB Isabelle Bailey Image Hillsmouth
One of the few tall players in the team, although a bit willowy and not superbly strong. Can pass it out effectively from the back. Reserve: Libby Stewart.

RWB Brittany Horton Image AFC Swanbridge
The first Hannasean player to ever sign overseas, Brittany plays in the Brenecian C-League. She is a pacy wing-back who can provide some good attacking moves but needs to improve on tracking back. Reserve Alice Clanton, who is a more traditional full-back, recently signed to play in Cassadaigua.

LDM Chelsea Crawford Image Demolishers
After a couple of quiet years in Timuria, became one of several Hannaseans to move to Hebitaka. More of a deep-lying playmaker than a true defensive midfielder, but given the team's defensive weakness spends a lot of time in front of the back four. Reserve: Lilly Weaving.

CDM Amanda Kemp Image Victoriaville City
One of the team's best players, Amanda is a deep-lying playmaker with nice vision. Should have a lot of possession. Set-piece specialist who can score from free-kicks and will take corners as she's not very tall. Recently signed to play in Cassadaigua. Reserve: Erin Richardson.

RDM Jaida Bissette Image Gunzlach
Not a consistent starter for top GPL side Gunzlach but that still makes her one of Hannasea's more illustrious signings. Capable of covering central and wide positions, without excelling at either. Reserve: Avery Cohen.

CAM Maya Davidson Image Demolishers
The team's main creative threat. Fast but not physically strong, poor aerial skills, not a strong shooter. Good at passing off both feet with excellent vision. Reserve Araceli Goff is an exciting if erratic teenage talent who can play AM or wing, and has recently signed to play for Brattleboro FC in Cassadaigua, but might only get limited minutes here.

CF Lily Jacobs Image Cheetahs
Another Timuria-to-Hebitaka mover who was part of the first wave of Hannasean transfers. Lily is more of a poacher: she can be an effective goal scorer but depends on another striker playing alongside her to give her support. Reserve: Nahla Reid.

CF Rebecca Morgan Image North Granby
More of a traditional center forward. All time leading NT goal scorer. Recently signed to play in Cassadaigua. Reserve Hana Chambers is a very promising teenager who led the FHL in scoring last season for Portsmore Town.

Starting XI MD1, v. Brenecia Espinar-Galán-Espiga-Guillén-Gallo-Cortés-Quesada-Morillo-Dávalos-Sáez-Covarrubias
Hola! And Gracias for reading today’s version of Sahuarita Deportivo, the premier sporting news outlet of Sahuarita. Our men will be tasked with a very difficult game, against the tough squad of Brenecia. This will not serve as an easy task for anyone on our team, as this Brenecia squad has a very strong history across both the Campionato and WCC events, including multiple Campionato Titles and a World Cup title of their own during the 80th cycle of the competition. In his first ever international game, Tejedor will have to game plan against one of the great minds of the game, the Qusmi manager Brelk-Xeral Erv. The entire group in its whole will be a very tough one to play against, the underrated Sylestone, longtime players Racing, and of course, the best team in the region, Brenecia.

Let’s jump straight into our Preview of the group.

Match One, Brenecia
Expected Result: Loss
Brenecia is an extremely tough, and talented opponent to play against. Their 10th rank in the world is the top in the entire region, and players such as Finn Townsend and Esther Caitiff will be possibly the best players we face the entire tournament. Tejedor may try and introduce his tactics from the Sahuaritan league, however it is likely that Brenecia will be too well coordinated for the young and inexperienced Sahuaritan side.

Match 2, Sylestone
Expected Result, Draw
Despite being ranked 18th in the nature region, that number does not show the skill of the Sylestoni squad this cycle. Coming off 2 successful Cup of Harmony runs, the Sylestoni team will look to finally find that same magic that they have in the WCC events, this time in the Campionato. The Appliances will certainly be an interesting challenge for the Sahuaritan Men, however it will be one that could decide the fate of the group, as these 2 skilled sides face off.

Match 3, Racing
Expected Result: Win
Racing is a team that has loads of experience playing together, as they have been doing since the first Campionato’s. However, if you watch the squad, they do not play well togther, and their coaches do not care enough to change tactics to fit the squad that they work with. We cannot find a match card yet for the team, however we do know that, despite their long history of CE play, they have struggled to put together any special runs, and that 11th rank doesn’t show the whole story.

Tejedor’s Corner
“How Do you plan to deal with the strong striking unit of Brenecia?”
Tejedor: Much of it will be a tactical battle. Players like Mcacha White and Rogue Lyrick will provide us with a tough game, however I believe players on my squad can slow them down. It will be a matter of playing the mind game better than the other team.

“Does it intimidate you to be playing against a Top 10 team for your first official match together?”
Tejedor: Obviously, Brenecia is a tough match to start out with, however, it shall give us a tough challenge to start out with, and give us confidence going into the rest of the tournament if we can manage a good result.

In the Loop (With the Players!)
“Question to Espinar, do these Brenecian Strikers that you will face seem like a tough threat?
J. Espinar: Of course. These guys have multiple Campionato’s under their belt, what’s not to be threatened by?- I think I can give them a run for their money, though it will be tough.

Question to Quesada, Being the leader of the team, how important is it to keep morale up before a big game?
C. Quesada: Well, you always want to keep morale up as a leader of the team, however it becomes just that much more important in a big one like our first game.

Question to Sáez, coming into the game, what do you think your biggest strength will be against this skilled team?
A. Sáez: I think my chemistry with this team is the biggest of all. They can have all the skill in the world, but we all know each other, we’ve played in the same league, some on the same teams for years now. We all know each other.

Thank you, good luck!

With Little Over Two Weeks To Election, Labour Holds Slowly Increasing Lead Over Liberals

Labour are on track to secure an increased majority through strength of their leader alone. Is that a good or bad thing?

Image
Prime Minister Kenneth Everett campaigning in Hesham on Monday. Labour's largely effective campaign has been accused by opponents of being largely focused on his personality, rather than on concrete policy achievements over the past few years.

COUNO - When the ballots are counted and the election results are declared, what will this election campaign be remembered for? Will it be remembered for the zinger that the wily SDP leader Peter Saunders delivered to Liberal leader Anne Monteiro during the first debate about the increase in living costs? Will it be remembered for the lacklustre performance of the Moderate Party leader Hannah Slater, who struggles now to get a word in on the news? Or will it be for that young upstart Alan Spalko, contesting in the seat of Nottingham - and at the same time attempting to topple an established elder Liberal?

The answer? Probably none of these. This election has been contested largely and mainly on one thing - does Kenneth Everett deserve a second term? And most voters would be inclined to answer yes.

In a recent YouPoll survey, Mr. Everett registered a 54% approval rating compared to a 31% disapproval rating, while federal Opposition Leader Anne Monteiro only received a 40% approval rating to a 27% approval rating. Perhaps staggeringly, despite her having been Opposition Leader for little over a thousand days, 16% of people in that survey claimed to not really have any recognition of her, showing just how much the campaign has been dominated by Mr. Everett.

To be fair to Ms. Monteiro (or perhaps this could be considered another blot on her record), the Liberal campaign has been less focused on her record as Leader of the Opposition and that of an alternate Prime Minister, and more on Mr. Everett's record as Prime Minister. The relentless attacks on Mr. Everett came to a head during the first debates, when much mirth on the Internet was made of Ms. Monteiro's continual questioning of the Prime Minister on seemingly every bit of his record at every opportunity it got.

Labour, to their credit, have recognised the immense popularity that Mr. Everett holds amongst the populace, and have capitalised on this fact. Mr. Everett has been on campaign all throughout the country, in critical places that he needs to win to retain, or even expand his majority - in particular, the state of Clearmont, home to 12 of the 80 most vulnerable Liberal seats in the entire country, and also one of the two states in which Labour failed to gain the most seats at in the previous election. Much of their election literature and publicity materials have focused on Mr. Everett, and less on their plans for the next four years in office. This has been mirrored by the Liberal Party, who have focused most of their election literature and publicity materials on Mr. Everett as well.

Perhaps, however, by focusing the attention on Mr. Everett, the Liberal campaign might be trying to mask the fact that they have little to offer on policy as well, as well as their internal struggles to maintain unity. Indeed, both of the major party's manifestos for this election have been relatively light on new policy ideas. The Liberal manifesto, "Giving Tumbra A Fair Go" has promised a re-enactment of major policy planks from the Hayes government (OOC: Liberal Prime Minister from 2009-2017), most of which were undone by the Everett government in its four years in office so far. The Labour manifesto, 'The Next Lap", has promised to continue investment into the high-speed railway system, and the creation of a new Tumbran Space Agency, but little else in term of substantive policy. Labour, therefore, seems to be banking on Mr. Everett's popularity to get people to trust Labour and whatever they plan to do in office if given another term.

Indeed, the most controversial policy offered by any member of the Labour government emerged just three days ago, when Minister for Urban Development Edward Hamilton mooted the idea of a new law designed to restrict the percentage of immigrants in any given neighbourhood to less than 30%. The same speech gave the reason for the proposed law - "to prevent the rise of parallel societies in urban areas". When questioned, Mr Hamilton declined to comment further. The move is seen as a way to placate people living in cities with a high number of immigrant communities - particularly Xinhuanese in Newton and Columbia, and Mytanars in Couno - who have often become concerned that the high level of immigration into Tumbra has fundamentally changed the character of the city, with terms like 'ghettos' often used to describe the neighbourhoods that have a high percentage of immigrants.

This statement, however, did not generate as many waves as some might have expected, perhaps highlighting how light this election campaign has been on policy. With Election Day just 16 days away, it would require an earth-shattering scandal of some sort to deny Mr. Everett a second term on April 9.

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

OFFICIAL ROSTER FOR CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA 29

Starters:
GK: #1- Matthew Costner (27, Centralia Firebirds)
-- Playing with defensively minded Centralia, Costner was able to raise his national profile quickly, enabling him to first appear as the starter in World Cup 86. He is in prime of his career right now, and after finishing 3rd with the Rockets in the last Cup of Harmony, there is something that he can build on.

LB: #2- Shannon Stefansson (28, Loudon Leopards)
-- Manager Michael Starre made an effort to be all inclusive when it came to gender when announcing the last roster, and that paid dividends with the brilliant performance of the tall blonde fullback. Don’t fall for her appearance, though, because she is also is tall and swift on her feet, and incredible awareness overall. She is tough enough to play this position, but the most physical defender is right next to her.

LCB: #4- Eric Trotman (30, Dover City Mountaineers)
-- Tall and physical. Holds his position very well, and opposing forwards will have a tough time dealing with him. If there is an issue with him, it is that he can sometimes take fouls and cards out of frustration late in a game if the team is behind, which happens in Dover City a little more than he would like. The fans there love the physical element more than most, so they do not mind it.

RCB: #5- Brian Conlin (25, North Charlotte Wildcats)
-- The most promising young defender in the Empire, who has all of the tools that you want in this position, and when he reaches full development maturity, he may become a hall of famer. It was not a surprise that he was named to the team, but giving him this role is a tremendous vote of confidence. Domestically, he is frustrated playing with lowly North Charlotte and hopes to sign with a better club within Newmanistan, or better yet, sign an international deal. It didn’t happen after World Cup 86. Perhaps, now.

RB: #3- Nick Blades (26, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
-- Blades enters the starting lineup for the first time, after appearing on the roster as a reserve. He never played in any of the action, so this will be his first game action at this level. Blades has all the defensive awareness that you want from this position, but also has excellent speed. Some joke that he would be a forward if he knew how to shoot.

LM: #6- Parnell Addington (31, Jessicaville Millionaires)
-- Addington has thrived since signing a huge contract with the Millionaires, and he has not sat on his bank account afterwards. He has only continued to get better, and is still in his prime here. He is listed as a midfielder on paper, but Michael Starre likes to be aggressive with him, so expect to see him up front quite often.

CM: #8- Paul Lombardi (31, Pocono City Capitals) (TEAM CAPTAIN)
-- He is a complete player, in any third of the field. Named the captain of the team after having that role for two seasons with the Capitals, something that is a special honor. Like Addington, he is more of a playmaker than a shooter. His size allows him to win most one on one battles at home. Comes off a fantastic campaign during the last World Cup, and his leadership will help the team through the qualifying aspect.

RM: #7- Madison Desalvo (27, Southport Tigers)
-- The second female in the starting lineup, Madison is the leading female scorer in the Empire, which is impressive considering that she does not play up front. Her shot is powerful, but the fact that she delivers it with pinpoint accuracy is what makes her a great one. Scored clutch goals at big moments in the last World Cup, so the team hopes for that to continue.

LS: #9- Garrett Sarniak (21, Loudon Leopards)
-- Despite his age, Sarniak impressed Michael Starre enough to put him on the last World Cup team, and he did well in both World Cup 87 and Cup of Harmony 79 to get here. Garrett has impressed in Loudon, too, with his shot accuracy while also adding the element of speed.

ST: #10- Allister Levy (28, Putnam Lake Eagles)
-- Originally named McAllister, after Jeremy McAllister, but he opted to drop the “Mc” from his first name when he turned 16. The parallels to Newmanistan’s greatest ever soccer player did not stop when he was drafted by Putnam Lake, and he immediately became a fan favorite. He is a goal scorer, trying to pattern his game off of Jeremy. He’s not at that level, but he is coming off a great World Cup 86.

RS: #11- Vinny Donaldson (26, South Tier Seagulls)
-- Speedy and creative with the ball. Can create plays and also get accurate shots on net. Could be a more dangerous goal scorer if he were a little taller, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in heart. This young player is another one quietly hoping a well known international side is paying attention for him to consider moving to.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Masahiro Kawasaki (22,, Daytopia Racers)
-- Promoted from reserve to starter. Is best known for his agility, and they are excited in Daytopia for where he may take them. The small market team insists that they will not let him get away, and will open up the checkbook for him, if necessary.

CB: #24- Damian Andrews (21, Seminole Bay Gators)
-- Upgraded from reserve status in the last Cup of Harmony. Still uncertain as to how much playing time he will see.

CB: #22- Alexander Carson (24, Loudon Leopards)
-- A complete newcomer to this lineup, comes off a career year in Loudon, and that has been helped by the way that he clicks with Shannon Stefansson.

MID: #13- Ashley Norton (27, Southport Tigers)
-- Creative playmaker, lacking in size but makes up for it in skill.

MID: #12- Jarrell Connolly (33, Putnam Lake Eagles)
-- The only player on the team who played in a World Cup before number 86. He is a hard worker, and an accurate shooter, which Starre likes, but as he got older, he was unable to remain in the starting lineup. He still gets results when used as a sub.

ST: #14- Kenzie Miller (30, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
-- Gave up playing soccer after high school to pursue a baseball career in college. That went okay, but after not getting drafted, she joined an independent soccer club, and was a woman among girls (and boys). At 24, she signed with Springfield, and her career has continued to improve.

ST: #15- Ryan Singletary (27, Tundra Falls Mariners)
-- Shorter than most strikers, but possesses plenty of strength. This is the first time he has appeared on the roster. Scored huge goals for the Rockets in Cup of Harmoyn 79

Reserves:
GK: #25- Michael Hopkins (24, South Charlotte Condors)
CB: #23- Javier Chavez (25, Jessicaville Millionaires)
CB: #26- Thomas Carlton (20, Centralia Firebirds)
MID: #16- Kevin Hynes (26, Olympia Gladiators)
MID: #17- Samantha Ellis (22, Penthoria Rivermen)
ST: #19- Jason Cefalo (21, South Charlotte Condors)
ST: #18- Phillip Ambler (25, Pocono City Capitals)

Manager- Michael Starre (Drawkland)
Michael enters his first full cycle as the manager of the Rockets after replacing Miguel Hernandez after matchday 8 in World Cup 85 qualifying. Starre did well, but it was a tough adjustment for him to bring immediate results. He was brought here to bring in someone who had experience in getting a team to qualify for the World Cup, something that he was able to do with Drawkland. In World Cup 77, he got Drawkland to qualify on their first attempt, and managed to do so in the next three World Cups as well. In World Cup 86, he got the free pass into the World Cup, but the team won the group, and reached the round of 16 for just the second time in Newmanistanian history. Despite not qualifying out of the Group of Death in World Cup 87, he led the team to a third place effort in the Cup of Harmony, and because of that, there was never a question as to whether or not he would be back.

Interested in a Newmanistanian player to transfer to your domestic league?
– The Empire of Newmanistan Soccer League (ENSL) provides an opportunity for our best soccer players to make a good living and pays them fairly enough, so it’s not as if these players are not making good money and living a good life with good enough fan support. However, soccer, or as you may say, football, is not as big in Newmanistan in comparison to other sports. Therefore, they are likely to be convinced and interested in the prospects of playing in a league with a higher profile. Ones that do those domestic club competitions. If you are interested in a player, simply TG me and it is highly likely I will say yes as long as I consider your league to be at least equivalent to the ENSL. If you’re just developing your league and are interested, I ask that you target subs and reserves first. Those transfers will probably be accepted.

Coach Rhule talks Prospects and Prospects
EXCERPT from http://www.xtrasports.xan/nationalteam.htm

HAWTHORNE - Coach Rhule put out an online interview today. The coach of the Xanneria National Team fielded questions from a handful of reporters who venture out to his home in suburbarn Hawthorne and the Three Hundred Oaks community. While sipping on a smokey yellow liquid he called "Kamchatka", despite several attempts to remind him it's called "Kombucha" he insisted on calling it "Kamchatka"> While having a drink and talking to interviewers. Main bits of the conversation related to the new star in the making in Xannerian football. Xander Washington is a young kid from the Velstin Point area who has been seen as one of the most naturally gifted midfield prospects since at least Mark Hailey and maybe even better than Brother Mark. The kid from Velstin, pulled an unusual move for a young athlete too. Two years ago he forshook the traditional four year college route and went to a community college in hope of what coach Rhule said was "Fastracking himself to a big career". The kid has looked promising and was touted as the top High School player in the UPX in 2035, now he's graduating from near bye Mercycoast Community College, a lot of teams would love to get him on their team, weather here or abroad. Coach Rhule also said Burgbugh is going to be a tough team than many realize and hopes they do well in other games that don't involve us.

Ancient ruins discovered on Gould/Denalia border
EXCERPT from http://www.xtra.xan/westcoastnews.html

BUCCANEER BAY - Archeologists in Xanneria rejoice! less than five miles from where the NR-105 exits Buccaneer bay and heads out to the Gould border, a new clue to the pre-Tonissian history of Xanneria has been unearthed. Many archeologist over the last 300-400 years have been studying western Xanneria and the northern Roberval forests for clues about pre-Tonissian civilization on the mainland of Xanneria. Many stories and legends of huge cities in the mainland of Xanneria have been told by the two tribes that populated Xanneria around the Tonissian colonization days. The Catalan's on the Catalan Islands in the Southwest and the Northeasterly Augonnic tribe have told stories of many nations they traded with before the colonial days but also told stories of a huge "black death" or "Dark era". Archealogists have been searching for clues and ruins to find some of these ancient populace to help figure out the history of the nation before the Tonissian colonization. Some have been discovered on the Denalian Coast north of Hawthorne, between Hawthorne and Buccaneer Bay and in the northern Robervallian forests, and we do think something of a plague like issue came about and possibly raider with much better tech came. Nothing has been fully know, nor has a lot been known culturally, this new find is one of the largest in Xanneria and could help us as Xannerians discover the past. And to think it could easily been destroyed by road construction had plans gone slightly different.

Nova Anglicana CE 29 Preview

Nova Anglicana returns to the Campionato Esportiva for the third time after a lengthy hiatus, and they really want to see success. Although the Lions have had some success in the CE in the past, making the Round of 16 or better a half-dozen times, their most recent advancement was back in CE 18, more than two decades ago now. In both CE 27 and 28, the Lions came away with but a single point, ending up with an 0-1-2 record. They will look to do much better this time.

Last time, the Lions traveled to South Newlandia, an up-and-coming nation in the multiversal sports world. The sub-Ministry of Sport made a special effort to attract the best NAFL talent in the hopes that they would be able to break through in the regional competition and show a little bit of national pride. Unfortunately, the Lions lost a close game, 1-0, to Racing, then drew the sentient appliances of Sylestone 2-2, and followed up by losing 2-1 to the Fhulghamous Peninsula. While the Lions' 1 point was a far cry from Racing's 9 or even the FP's 4, an extra draw or even a win instead of a draw against Sylestone would have made a big difference to the team's confidence and the nation's regard for international football. As is, the team is somewhat of an embarrassment despite being composed of top-level NAFL talent.

This time, the Lions have been sent to the country of Hannasea, which is not a country so much as it is a federation of city-states with heavy guild influence. As most Hannasea natives are not fans of football, even going so far as to call it "Hateball", there will be seats for the taking, and the sub-Ministry of Sport has been making a special effort to promote the Campionato and encourage ticket sales. They have been drawn into a group with 3rd-ranked Newmanistan, 10th-ranked Ancherion, and 26th ranked Natanians and Nosts. They are the lowest-ranked team in the group, and in fact this is a more difficult group than CE 28. Nonetheless, the squad, which is mostly the same that underperformed in CE 28, will be trying their best to succeed.

Fixtures

MD1: Nova Anglicana (27) vs. Newmanistan (3) at Moontide Park, Glaziers Group

The Lions will open with a tough draw, top seed in their group Newmanistan. In CE 28, Newmanistan's aggressive 4-3-3 allowed them to sweep past their group, with a record of 2-1-0 and a goal differential of +7, scoring 13 goals in their three matches. Unfortunately, they lost 4-3 in the Round of 16 to the Golden Lotus. One thing is clear: the Lions' back line will have their work cut out for them trying to stop the Rockets. However, they appear to be vulnerable on defense, so a strong counterattack will be necessary if the Lions expect to hold their own. With only three games in the group stage, every game is magnified. If it were double round-robin, the Lions could hope to get the Rockets back in the second game after they'd had a chance to get their legs under them, but as it is, this is likely a loss and quite possibly might determine if the Lions make it out of the group.

MD2: Nova Anglicana vs. Natanians and Nosts (26) at Seat of Quickwinds, Glaziers Group

Up next for the Lions will be their closest opponents in rank, Natanians and Nosts. Unfortunately, we don't really know anything about this team. We do know that they lost to Brenecia and the Grearish Union and drew with Sangti in CE 28, finishing with the same 0-1-2 record as the Lions. They even finished with the same goals for, against, and differential as the Lions. But they have not released a roster for this tournament and appear to not be taking it terribly seriously. Both teams will be scrapping for points after facing higher-ranked teams in the first matchday, and it's not improbable to say that if there is a victor and a loser, the loser will be out of the competition, while the victor will be in the drivers' seat for a playoff spot. However, this game is likely more important for N&N, as they will take on top-ranked Newmanistan next, a game where they may not come away with any points. This is the best chance for a Lions win, and if they're going to make the playoffs or even show the nation that they can still play competitive football, it would a great opportunity to do so.

MD3: Nova Anglicana vs. Ancherion (10), at Seat of Quickwinds, Glaziers Group

To round out the group stage, the Lions draw Ancherion. The 10th-ranked team in the region blasted their way to 3 wins and 12 goals in CE 28, before being upset by 14th seeded Gergary in the Round of 16. Perhaps this bodes well for the Lions, as both Newmanistan and Ancherion flopped in the playoffs despite their success. If the Lions can prove the Ancherites to be paper tigers, then a playoff spot will likely be theirs. To do so, they'll have to stifle Ancherion's 4-2-3-1 attack, led by Mamadou Kaur, whose 35 goals in international play dwarf anyone else on either team. If they can stop Kaur, the tip of the spear, they will have a shot at coming away with point(s) from this match.

It's a tough row to hoe for the Lions, but not impossible. Their best bet lies in ambushing Newmanistan on MD1 and trying to achieve a draw on the counterattack, drawing or, more likely, defeating N&N, then pulling out some kind of points on MD3 against Ancherion. Three draws won't do it, but 1-1-1 or 1-2-0 might do it. It's a tall order, advancing out of this group, but the Lions are more or less playing with the future of Nova Anglican international football on the line. If they flop again, then the nation might withdraw even further to focus on sports they're good at, like baseball.

South Newlandia announces roster for Campionato Esportiva 29

After South Newlandia qualified for World Cup 87, they also experienced quite the jump in the rankings. Now, they travel to Hannasea for CE29. Coach Wolverine has decided that he would use a line-up made up entirely of players in the South Newlandian Soccer League. This controversial move has caused many good players to be left out, but it will also be an opportunity for many players that otherwise wouldn’t play on the big stage. Wolverine and Elephantson claimed that the move is supposed to promote players staying in the league, considering how many are seeking luck overseas recently. They added that this would not be permanent change. (OOCly this is due to me just not having time to look through a bunch of leagues right now. Sorry.)

Choose my lineup: Go nuts. It makes total sense for Wolverine to just through some of the bench guys out there.
Choose my goalscorers: Yes, please!
Godmod scoring events: Encouraged!
RP injuries to my players: Yes
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes, but no killing without consent.
Give yellow cards to my players: Yes
Give red cards to my players: Yes
Godmod other events: Always willing to do something like that, drop me a TG/message on DC if you have something in mind
RP about pandemics in South Newlandia: Please don’t do that.
Style mod: 1.25

Complete squad for South Newlandia:

Coaching team

Head Coach: Robert Wolverine (49) (has coached 85 WCC-games, I believe)
Assistant Coach: Todd Ingolffson (65)
Goalkeeper Coach: Matthias Boyle (45)
Athletic Coach: Josef Salazar (30)

All of the above have been on the team for 85 WCC games, except for Ingolffson, who has been here for far fewer; having joined the coaching team ahead of CoH78; following the former assistants’ departure to coach the national team of Kohnhead. Wolverine will be running the 4-4-2 diamond he always ran.

First starting eleven:
ImageImage
made by Tikariot

Roster:
GK: Isaac Sjarsen (28 years old) Sophie City Royals, South Newlandia
Sjarsen is doing decent work with the Royals. He is known as a penalty-killer especially, and is a decent keeper overall, but only four of the 14 goalkeepers of the SNSL are South Newlandian. That probably helped him here.

LB: Jet McBride (24 years old) Elephant Town FC, South Newlandia
McBride occasionally makes insanely strong plays, but (metaphorically) throws total air balls as well. On the good days, he is a good contender for a spot on the national team, but he still lacks in consistency a lot. Playing for a bad team surely doesn’t help him either.

CB: Andre Hall (23 years old) Ratzupalfu Rhinos, South Newlandia
Andre Hall is relatively unknown, but is a solid defender for one of the best defensive teams out there. He doesn’t have a lot of strengths or weaknesses, but he gets the job done. His chances to make the team seem slim, but you never know.

CB: Wesley Medrano (21 years old) Ruditown Guards, South Newlandia
Medrano is among the younger, talented, more modern South Newlandian Center Backs. He’s going to try and contribute to play-making, but he isn’t the best defender out there. He’s got a lot to learn.

RB: Terrence Kearney (25 years old) Jecken Newport, South Newlandia
Kearney has been a solid defender for years, but he’s far from a national team talent. He’s going to fight and try his best, but that’s not a whole lot, to be honest. Turns out all the South Newlandian Right Backs in the SNSL are pretty garbage.

DM: Brian Lowe (27 years old) Valley Wanderers, South Newlandia
Lowe has been fighting for this his entire career, and he’s finally found some success. The man, although not gifted with elite talent, has stuck with the Wanderers for almost a decade.

LM: Corban Green (23 years old) Jecken Newport, South Newlandia
Corban Green remains one of the younger players on the real national team, but his lack of experience is made up with fantastic amounts of talent. His shot isn’t as dangerous, while his flanks and corners are among the strongest ones in the country. Due to problems with his knee, he frequently missed games, but he seems to be fit right now. Hopefully, he can stay healthy, but every light touch to his leg might side-line him for months. Recently, he hasn’t gotten the results he wanted, but he might be able to bounce back, even with two bench players eyeing his position.

RM: Patrick McMora (26 years old) Walstreim Lions, South Newlandia
Patrick McMora is the player with the most matches for South Newlandia, having missed few games. His passes and flanks can be deadly, and while he doesn’t score a lot of goals, he is capable of doing that too. He is one of the players that might be the captain eventually, and he will assume that role here. The proud Walstreim Lion has helped the team a ton during its early days, and remains a valuable starter for them; he is also considered to be one of the big five South Newlandians.

OM: Dean Holcomb (21 years old) Elephant Valley FC, South Newlandia
If anyone can ever replace Wallis on this position, Holcomb surely won’t be it. He just isn’t that good. Sure, he has loads of talent and can surely improve, but it’s hard to see him ever replacing Wallis.

ST: Eli Tshabala (24 years old) Ratzupalfu Rhinos, South Newlandia
Tshabala is well-known for exciting plays. He plays arguably one of the prettiest kinds of football, but that often stops him from being effective. If he could cut out a few tricks, he could be a future Elephant.

ST: Jaiden McDermott (22 years old) Sophie City Royals, South Newlandia
McDermott is one of the most exciting talents on this young team. He has been steadily improving into a well-rounded striker with a seemingly natural talent to sneak away from defenders.

Bench:

GK: Luke Brown (23 years old) Ineton City, South Newlandia

LB: Zach Smith (27 years old) Kinetik Islanders, South Newlandia

CB: Leroy Yoder (27 years old) Newport United, South Newlandia

CB: Jay-Jay Driscoll (22 years old) Ruditown Guards, South Newlandia

RB: Elliot McCullough (24 years old) Sophie City Royals, South Newlandia

DM: Hugh McKay (21 years old) Ratzupalfu Rhinos, South Newlandia

LM: Donald Lancaster (25 years old) Walstreim Lions, South Newlandia
Donald Lancaster is one of the players that already played for the Elephants during the Baptism of Fire, has been the main replacement for Corban Green since about forever. He will have to fight to get past Green, but after two good seasons for the Lions, he might be closer than ever.

LM: Lorenzo Oreales (19 years old) Sophie City Royals, South Newlandia
Oreales may very well be the next great player at his position. Excelling at avoiding defenders, finding openings and exploiting them, and a fantastic talent to get dangerous corners into the box, he may be the next great Elephant.

RM: Arnold Bois-Miller (26 years old) Kinetik Islanders, South Newlandia
Bois-Miller is one of the most popular players. He has been rising just as Kinetik has, and he might finally be considered for the national team. He only started playing football seriously at 19, really late by comparison, and became a fan favourite by having clearly more fun than anyone.

OM: Abe Lannsson (24 years old) Ruditown Guards, South Newlandia

ST: Wilhelm Glass (21 years old) Ineton City, South Newlandia

ST: Bob Hwang (28 years old) Ruditown Guards, South Newlandia
Hwang enjoyed an extremely good season on the Guards, and is going to fight for every chance he can get. The small, but extremely fast Hwang is especially strong with quick counters, and is a more experienced player than the other strikers.

Following an astonishing performance in World Cup 87 which saw them crash out of the group stage with a grand total of zero points qualify for the first time in their history, Markos Moustakakos’ Vdaran side will have their sights set on a better performance than in the last Campionato, which saw them bow out to Esportivan Darmen for the second consecutive time. The squad, as always, will be the winners of the 11th U-18 World Cup, with some of the more experienced players on the bench.

Zaharias Frangoglou - A product of the national team’s dive into forming their own academy rather than snatching their players from established sides, 20-year-old Zaharias has impressed many with his reflexes and diving ability, and at 6’4” he towers over most of his teammates. In the 11th U-18 WC, Frangoglou saved two penalties in the final which gave Vdara their first ever trophy - even if it was just a youth tournament. In his one season in Sylestone, he helped Avondale Beach FC finish 5th in a division where they were expected to finish 12th, which earned him a move to SW Stahlberg.

Anargyros Zerveas - Following Vdara’s disappointing last place finish in U-18 WC 10, Anargyros earned himself a move to Taeshan in an attempt to prove that he was in fact still a solid player with great potential. The move boosted his confidence and helped him grow as a player, and at 18 he ended up being an integral part of the Vdaran defence during U-18 WC 11 and the last two editions of the Campionato Esportiva. His career at Moresville ended with a disappointing relegation, but he’s tried to get his career back on track with Union Cathair.

Trifonas Tolakis - Mainly known for his cool name, Trifonas was a lesser-known member of Vdara’s second lineup until he gained a move to Valnohar Rovers in Tikariot. The less that’s said about his performances with the Rovers, the better.

Stamatios Christakos - While most of his teammates have moved on to greener pastures, Stamatios has been left behind in Vdara, still part of the National Team Academy. This hasn’t affected him much, however - he’s still a physical, strong defender who can strike fear into the hearts of those who dare to dribble past him.

Akakios Demotis - Is there anything special about Akakios? Eh... not really. He’s a good midfielder, sure, but he’s one of the blandest people in this squad. Heck, even the club he plays for is pretty bland. He’s the human version of beige.

Lambros Tantalopoulos - Following an astonishing performance in his youth career, Lambros earned himself a move to Walstreim Lions in South Newlandia - and he has never looked back. He may have won an U-18 World Cup before his move, but he’s also added winner medals from the Rising Stars Cup and South Newlandian League to his CV. He specialises in headers and free kicks, which might seem a bit odd for an average defensive midfielder - but Lambros isn’t average.

Alkiviadis Manolakis - A fantastic performance in both the 11th U-18 WC and the last Campionato Esportiva showed that Manolakis has the potential to blow defences out of the water. He’s got pace and passing ability, which he used to his and the squad’s advantage during the team’s trophy-winning performances.

Themistoklis Muleas - Not the most standout player in the squad, but definitely not a bad one. He is overshadowed by most of the other attackers - and other players in the squad - but he is still definitely one to watch during this tournament. He isn’t as bland as Demotis, put it that way. He’s more grey than beige.

Andrianos Petras - Following the advancement of Nik Cosmidis to the first team, Petras was called up from the Academy to replace him. This worked amazingly well, as he scored goal after goal after goal during Vdara’s U-18 WC and CE27 adventures. Performances like these have earned him a move to Tikariot’s Veriasod Lakers, where he scores goal after goal with his national team compatriot Kimon Karalas. If he doesn’t end the competition as Vdara’s top scorer, something’s gone wrong.

Mathaios Makrotsis - The last national team academy graduate of this lineup, Makrotsis will be looking to perfect his abilities in this tournament. At the very young age of 19, Makrotsis has plenty time to perfect his abilities at Inverness 1877 in Quebec - and he has a winners’ medal from the 11th U-18 WC.

Manousos Scafididis - Last but not least, we have Manousos Scafididis. Yet another remnant of the 10th U-18 WC squad, Manousos has been looking to improve ever since. Amazingly, he has, and his pace and agility have only gotten better with time. He showed this in the last Campionato Esportiva, where he whipped in cross after cross, and used his skills and quick feet to score quite a few goals.

If you haven’t heard of Markos Moustakakos and his achievements, you must have been living under a large rock for the past few cycles. He led the youngsters to victory at the 11th Under-18 World Cup, as well as the quarter-finals of the 27th Campionato Esportiva. However, he’s also the goalkeeper for the senior team. At the age of 34, Moustakakos has made a multitude of appearances for the Vdaran national team, making save after save to keep the Vdarans fighting. In terms of his managerial style, he loves to play quick, attacking football. He likes to make sure his defenders and goalkeepers are ultra-fit for every single match, since the midfielders and attackers will be fighting for the victory further up the pitch. If Lükækš Væñøœrëñbérghüïś ever loses his job as the senior team’s manager, it’s more than likely that Moustakakos will be called up to take his place - he’s 34, he only has one or two cycles left in him until he retires.

Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom Federativna Republika Zeta Reka i Hügeltaldom
Campionato Esportiva 29 Official Roster and Preview
Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom are entering their fourth regional tournament. The country’s stock has risen once again, with the team beginning a new era in the last Cup of Harmony. With a tweaked roster, old and new faces will look to give the Rekan nation it’s first ever international trophy.
Roster
Key
[NUM.]: [PLAYER] (POSITION)* — [AGE] — [HEIGHT] — [CAPS] — [GOALS/ASSISTS]* — [CLUB]
*if applicable

Goalkeepers
01: Zlatko Wukowić — 26 — 186 cm — 54 — Lonngeylin City (Vilita)
23: Branislaw Mucić — 20 — 184.5cm — 3 — VZRH Matov-Uri
51: Ratimir Ljajić — 26 — 183.5cm — 0 — Port Rhovanyon AFC (Tikariot)

Regular number one Wukowić will share duties in the group stage with prospect Branislaw Mucić who has been rising through the ranks. Behind them is the last line of defense in the depth chart, Ratmir Ljajić. All three are sweeper keepers, though the young Mucić was ultra adventurous at the youth level and is far more risk taking than the other keepers.

Defenders
05: Zaur-Luka Igorić (left) — 22 — 177cm — 31 — 2/7 — Ogroven Vanguradi FK
13: Ali Faruq (center) — 26 — 185cm — 1 — 0/0 — Dí Maozöxê (Farfadillis)
02: Wlad Wlad (center) — 26 — 192.5cm — 54 — 2/1 — Resplendiente (Tequilo)
18: Yuri Kewić (right) — 26 — 172.33cm — 21 — 0/4 — DD Porto Nowi
07: Jad (left/right) — 29 — 184cm — 84 — 6/20 — Aleiusia Capital
16: Hermann Hamppe (left/right, central midfielder) — 25 — 178.66cm — 16 — 0/1 — Aleiusia Capital
28: Lukabor Illić (center) — 23 — 180cm — 3 — 0/0 — Real Gardaresso (Tequilo)
14: Bartolomej Wladmirowić (versatile) — 32 — 171cm — 85 — 3/2 — KT Morezeura (Audioslavia)

Ali Faruq’s championship season in the S-F Premier League made everyone take notice of the once unknown commodity from Aleiusia Capital’s bench. Coach Jowan Stanimirić was reportedly able to bridge a communications gap that existed between Faruq and former coach Marko Dusan. Even with the new kid on the block, stalwarts Wlad Wlad, Igorić and Yuri Kewić will form the backline. Jad, a corner master, could come on late as a wingback and raze a ruckus across the touch line. Hermann Hamppe is perhaps the fifth choice for a central midfield slot.

Midfielders
06: Stani Gröss (defensive) — 26 — 174cm — 62 — 0/10 — 1830 Cathair (Audioslavia)
10: Stanimir Rekawić (central/attacking) — 23 — 174cm — 35 — 5/6 — AK Stanimir
11: Želmir Kolarowić (cpt.) (attacking) — 31 — 190cm — 87 — 24/22 — Kven FK
17: Nikola Branić (defensive) — 23 — 170cm — 18 — 0/0 — DD Porto Nowi
32: Zdeslaw Markowić (central) — 25 — 174cm — 1 — 0/1 — St. Astons City FC (Flavovespia)
33: Marko Zup (attacking) — 19 — 173.25cm — 5 — 1/1 — Myana (Chromatika)

The Gröss-Rekawić-Kolarowić from the last tournament goes unmolested, with three solid but unproven substitutes lying in wait. Gröss and Branić could be situated with Branić replace either starter from higher up. For Zdeslaw Markowić this tournament is a golden opportunity to carve out a niche for himself in the National Team. Marko Zup is looking to bite at Kolarowić and his again heals. The Kolarowić-Zup pairing on the depth chart is the pairing with the highest age discrepancy. “No competition here,” Coach Stanimirić said on TV, “we’re only competing against the region’s best.”

Forwards
08: Arnald Gal (left/center) — 23 — 177.5cm — 38 — 14/2 — DD Porto Nowi
09: Bogdan Rawić (center) — 24 — 166.25cm — 69 — 44/1 — Lokomotive Jarnstard (Savojarna)
20: Miloš Simeoniwić (right/left) — 27 — 178cm — 66 — 5/5 — Northern Stallions (Brenecia)
22: Josip Jorowić (right/center) — 24 — 182cm — 7 — 0/0 — Ogroven Vanguardi FK
48: Milan Leitz (center) — 23 — 189.75cm — 3 — 0/0 — Harkdown (Eura)
49: Wladmir Imilić (left/right) — 22 — 179.75cm — 0 — Kven FK

After being rested in the last Campeonato Bogdan Rawić was selected by Stanimirić for the tournament. The top scorer will be complimented in the first choice lineup by Arnald Gal and Brenecia club player Simeoniwić. The backups are all intended to slot into any of the three roles given to the attackers sans Lietz, who will instead offer a areal alternative in place of Rawić. Expect late goals from those legs. One player, Stojan Heiden, refused to play for the team after being denied a starting role despite being the Rekan league’s stop scorer and winning a Cup. The row captivated social media.

First Choice XI
Wukowić – Igorić, Faruq, Wald Wlad, Kewić – Gröss, Kolarowić, Rekawić – Gal, Rawić, Simeoniwić

Staff
Head Coach: Jowan Stanimirwić — 41
Assistant Coach: Iwna Birmančević — 52
Goalkeeping Coach: Bosko Nowak — 41
Trainer: Andrijana Protić — 50
Official Team Writer: Milan Jankić — 29

After guiding the Rekan XI past the group stages in the last Cup of Harmony, Stanimirwić was signed for an entire cycle. The former Vanguardi head coach in the domestic game has modeled some of his side’s tactics after that club. He’s brought Iwna Birmančević from the under eighteens to be assistant coach. Goalkeepers will be mentored by Bosko Nowak, who played for the team for a few years. Andrijana Protić brings their keen medical skills back as she continues her career as the top physio in Rekan football. I’m also alive.
Notes
• Defensive midfielder Branić may replace Rekawić or Kolarowić may be doubled to create an aggressive 4-2-3-1 like system.
• Both Wukowić and Mucić will start at least one group stage match.
• Twelve players and five starters played outside of the Rekan league system last season. The squad members represent different clubs from Audioslavia, Brenecia, Chromatika, Eura, Farfadillis, Flavovespia, Savojarna, Tequilo, Tikariot, and Vilita.
• DD Porto Nowi is the only club represented three times in the overall lineup.
• Goalkeepers have the highest foreign club saturation overall, and the other positions are half represented by pros who play abroad.
• A majority of the roster was not present for the last Campionato, where Zeta Reka finished in a historic high of fourth place.
• Two current or former long term captains are on the side.
• Eight players from the Seventy Second Baptism of Fire are still playing for the National Team, perhaps they will add gold to a trophy cabinet full of silver?
