INTERNATIONAL UNION OF BASKETBALL CLUBS

Nation and Team Coefficients are now available for viewing.

Guidelines for Entry in IUBC XXI
  • Each nation is entitled to three entries, with their champion listed first. Please follow the format for submission in the OP.
  • Seaddle Subsonics (EQS) automatically qualify for the group stages of the IUBC Trophy. If they qualify as the league champions / highest placed team of Equestria, the group stage spot for the league champions will be vacated.
  • As Equestria is currently a part of a multiassociational league (REBL), should the team fail to qualify via league standing, the following scenarios may apply:
    • If there are three (or more) teams ahead of Seaddle Subsonics in league placing, they will automatically be allotted the fourth spot from Equestria, with maximum two spots to be filled by other associations.
    • If Crystal Empire (or other association which is part of the REBL) submits four entries with sporting merit, Equestria will get an additional spot.
    • The results of the REBL will be checked in order to ensure the correct procedure is taken and considered.
  • Multiassociational leagues are entitled to six entries, with at most four from one nation.

Hosting the Playoffs
  • Participating nations are entitled to bid for hosting the playoffs of the IUBC Trophy. Please follow the details in the OP. Further detail is strongly encouraged.
  • As the host of the previous edition's playoffs, The Hinodejin Empire will not be eligible to bid for the hosting of the playoffs.
  • Bidding nations are reminded that their submitted bid will not only host the final four but the entire playoffs including the classification games.
  • If there are no bids received, the host venue will be defaulted to a venue to be confirmed by the new co-organizers of the tournament.

Sponsorship of the IUBC for Seasons 21-25
  • The IUBC announces the bid from Lisanderian company Data West to be the sponsor of the IUBC from Seasons 21 to 25.
    Image

Logo contest for the IUBC and Other Matters
  • I would like to announce that we will have a new co-organizer of the IUBC, Lisander and Equestria. The user behind Filindostan will officially be stepping down from organizing the IUBC but will remain as an advisory role. I would like to thank all the nations who expressed interest in taking over the competition, and will be considered again should there be a need to add another nation to the pool of co-organizers.
  • I will defer the decision of the logo and tournament format, as well as the new headquarters, cutoff of IUBC 21, and default venues to the new co-organizers of the IUBC

  • Kindly answer the feedback survey form for the next two months. Changes will be made to the competition moving forward in the 21st edition based on the feedback received.
  • Also, if you are a part of the NSSports Discord community, you can subscribe to the IUBC Subscriber role to get an alert for the latest IUBC updates:
Kita Hinode wrote:Announcement - Seeing as the IFCF Subscriber role has been working out so well, I added an IUBC Subscriber role so that users can get updates on NSS' major basketball tournament. Like with the other two Subscriber roles, type +getrole IUBC Subscriber and send it on #botcity and your message will be reacted with a checkmark if it works.

Deadline for entries for the twentieth edition of the IUBC will be confirmed by the new co-organizers in due time.

Since our last time seeing each other, the Qasden Royal Basketball League (QRBL) fell into near total ruin following the financial devastation brought about by our nation's decay in athletic prowess. With a surprise 2nd Place finish at the AOCAF in Banija, a renewed investment in the nation's leagues took effect with the aid of corporations. For basketball, our savior would be Pulsar, an electronic company with interstellar levels of quality products. Of course, patents seem to have a half life of an eternity in Qasden, so the organization had to get creative when coming up with the new name. What they came up with is, well, it's a name; though the league would be nowhere without its star attributes: the teams! Many Qad cities would see the return of their favorite teams, most of whom keeping their names to prevent ordering more merch. Regardless, the stage is set, the airwaves are back online, and the ball is ready to be tipped off. Welcome, one and all, to the first/sixth season of the League of Hoops & Extraordinary Orange Things!

Several years have passed (at least as far as Græntfjall are concerned) since our last IUBC submission, and since then the Super League has been dissolved and replaced by the Græntfjaller Basketball Championship. A franchise model, the GBC marks a major departure from the usual system of Multi-Sports-Clubs in Græntfjall. 8 franchises were created; each could retain a certain number of geography-based key players, the rest were sorted through a bidding system. The contraction of the league meant some players went without a team and some historic basketball towns were left without a team, but the overall objective was a higher standard of play (and a better TV rights deal). The GBC also introduced a much longer season, accompanied by a change to "Kalactin rules"* including a 48 minute game length and other rule changes intended to facilitate offense. There were of course complaints from traditionalists that Græntfjaller basketball was being commercialized, but then, Græntfjaller basketball sucked, so the wider public broadly welcomed the changes.

The first season was won by the Western Rifles. These results are submitted from the second season.

Regular Season Standings
1 Western Rifles 47–9
2 Kyrkdorf Tungsten Miners 39–17
3 Árberg Ice-Pandas 33–23
4 Southern Black Goats 33–23
5 Hinteram Ghouls 27–29
6 New Háttmark Blizzards 26–30
7 Northern Artisians 16–40
8 Odinsfluss Voyageurs 3–53

Ice-Pandas ahead of Black Goats on H2H.

Finals

Western Rifles 3–4 Kyrkdorf

There was a certain poetry here. After all the big changes, it was Kyrkdorf, one of the few franchises still bearing the name of an old GSL team, who won, and did so in low-scoring 78–80 7th game which did not feature a buzzer-beater, a key final block, some ice-cool free throws, or anything of the sort; instead both two teams spent the final 90 seconds trading missed shots and the last 4 seconds of the season featured both teams scrabbling around on the floor for a missed rebound as time drained off the clock. Have I mentioned that Græntfjaller poetry is really ugly?

Græntfjall (GRÆ) qualifiers
Western Rifles
Kyrkdorf Tungsten Miners
Árberg Ice-Pandas

OOC note to organizers:

I request that the GBC inherit the rankings point earned by the GSL during the last IUBC, given the basic same players in the same nation are represented. I will accept your decision otherwise, however.

Similarly, I request that Western Rifles inherit the rankings of Hintersfjörður, Kyrkdorf Tungsten Miners inherit the rankings of Kyrkdorf, and Southern Black Goats [who have not qualified in this edition] inherit the rankings of Laitwinkl, as all three are based in the same town and have many of the same players. Again, I will accept the decision of the organizers otherwise.

* The season was scorinated using xkoranate with Northwest Kalactin's basketball_nba sports files.

Season 10

The Royal Equestrian Basketball League has reached its tenth season of existence.

Ten years ago, that simple fact would've been met with skepticism in most corners of the sporting multiverse, nowhere more so than in Equestria where the sport would charitably have been described as an afterthought. However, after the expansion of the REBL first to the Crystal Empire and most recently to Freeport, twelve IUBC Final Four appearances, and four IUBC titles, not only has the league survived, but it has thrived. One decade into its existence, the REBL has morphed from a semi-professional laughingstock into a semi-professional superpower capable of poaching talent from nations with professional leagues simply through the allure of competition. While the league's fanbase remains small, especially by Equestrian standards, it is steadily growing in popularity, buoyed not only by the success of the REBL's teams in the IUBC, but also by the national team's recent successes in the IBC as well. Support from the Banijan-Equestrian immigrant community has also been vital to the REBL's growth, and has allowed a number of teams with sizable Banijan followings to move into larger purpose-built arenas rather than relying on older public venues. It is that sort of growth which has allowed the REBL to thrive in the past decade and promises to make the coming decade brighter still for Equestrian basketball.

Following the conclusion of the previous REBL season, the IUBC XX cycle did not start well for REBL sides, as the Everfree Indigo crashed out in the group stage and the Manehattan Flames, Cloudsdale Warriors, and Crystal Springs Stars all failed to even get past the qualifying rounds. For the Stars, it was a stunning reversal of fortune one cycle after finishing third overall, while the Indigo continued their slow decline from a team that once reached consecutive IUBC Finals to one struggling to remain relevant internationally despite recent domestic success. Fortunately for the REBL's coefficients, however, the Crystopolis Lancers and Seaddle Subsonics remained as relevant as ever, steamrolling their way to a IUBC XIX Final rematch in the semifinals. In a dominant 93–74 victory, the Subsonics exacted revenge on the Lancers for halting their IUBC title defense by ending the Lancers' own title defense. The Subsonics thus matched the feat of their triumvirate rivals Carloburgo Knights in reaching three straight IUBC Finals, and after a comfortable 89-75 win against Lisander's BC Olympia Lerna, also matched the Knights' feat of winning a third IUBC title and moved into a tie with their Valladar rivals as the most-decorated club in IUBC history.

The Seaddle Subsonics have not maintained their position as one of the multiverse's elite clubs through complacency, however, proving their commitment to excellence once again by securing the services of Banijan international Antouman Ceesay a few weeks prior to the season's start. Ceesay, who is expected to take over the starting power forward position for both club and country, was enthusiastically welcomed by Subsonics supporters at Seaddle Arena while the rest of the league groaned at the reigning REBL and IUBC champions' signing of yet another international star. The Cloudsdale Warriors also looked to Banija to bolster their roster, poaching Rookie of the Year point guard Odion Ozoemena from the Banijan league. Complaints over alleged violations of the REBL's salary rules by Seaddle and Cloudsdale were brushed aside by REBL management, although an undercurrent of dissent has continued to grow against the league's increasingly-flimsy façade of semi-professionalism.

The tenth regular season of the REBL went much the same way as the previous nine, as the Seaddle Subsonics reclaimed the regular season title from the Everfree Indigo despite actually posting their worst-ever record, reinforcing their dominance over the league as a whole. The rest of the top half of the table remained relatively static as well, as the usual suspects grabbed most of the available playoff spots. Among the top eight, the lone surprise was the Crystopolis Crowns, who stole the final postseason berth from the struggling Manehattan Flames to reach the playoffs in just their third season of existence, thanks largely to a young core featuring a hoofful of Equestrian and Crystalline internationals. Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the table, the Appleoosa Archers completed their plunge down the standings with a pitiful 11-57 finish. Rumors are now swirling that the Archers might not even survive the offseason, as the REBL's leadership is supposedly threatening the club with contraction.

The opening round of the REBL playoffs saw no shortage of drama, as all but one series went the distance. Top-seeded Seaddle defeated the Crystopolis Crowns in four games, cruising relatively comfortably to a semifinal berth, the Crowns' Game 4 victory only delaying the inevitable. Elsewhere, the Crystopolis Lancers absolutely slaughtered the Ponyville Galaxy in their series opener, only for the Galaxy to rally twice from series deficits, forcing a decisive Game 5 in which the Lancers finally put away the Galaxy behind a stellar performance by Equestrian international Event Horizon. The Indigo-Stars quarterfinal, meanwhile, flipped that script, starting out with a pair of hard-fought contests only to end with Everfree winning Game 5 by 19 points. Fortunately for neutrals, the Warriors-Victory quarterfinal had it all. ... In stark contrast to the quarterfinals, the semifinals saw very little drama, as the Subsonics and Indigo dispatched the Warriors and Lancers respectively without much difficulty, setting up yet another Seaddle-Everfree clash in the REBL Championship Series.

BasketLeague Omerica
:( Your league ran into a problem and needs to restart.

The twenty-four teams of BasketLeague are divided into two conferences, which are in turn divided into three divisions. Each team plays 74 games during the qualifying season, 37 at home and 37 away; teams play every other team in their division six times, every team in the other divisions of their conference four times and every team in the opposite conference twice.

The top team in each division at the end of the qualifying season advances to the BasketLeague Finals, while the top two teams in each conference that failed to win their division contest best-of-five playoffs for the last Finals berths. The four finalists in each conference are seeded according to their qualifying season records and play best-of-seven series to determine their conference’s entrant to the BasketLeague Grand Finals. In the playoffs and in each round of the Finals, the team with the better qualifying season record has home court advantage.

The BasketLeague champions and the conference winners receive berths to the IUBC; if one of the conference winners also win the BasketLeague championship, the top team in the league that failed to win their conference takes the final IUBC berth.

Basketball is a popular sport in Mytanija, in terms of participation it is one of the stronger sports, with plenty of Mytanar kids playing street basketball in the infamous 'cages' found in many deprived areas in Mytanar cities when a football isn't being kicked around. The MKA Liga, Mytanija's top level of competition, lags behind other sports in terms of commercial revenue and television coverage which means it is often considered to be behind football (obviously), handball and volleyball in terms of popularity. The MKA (the Mytanar Basketball Association), is trying to change that by negotiating better contracts for the TV rights to show MKA Liga games. This could involve streamlining the current format of the league, with some feeling that 28 teams is too many and dilutes the quality of the league that is meant to represent the best basketball in Mytanija has to offer. Any change of format would likely be met with fierce opposition given the structure of many of the teams as part of wider sports clubs that participate in various sports (e.g. Atletik, Crvena Zvezda and Dinamo to name but a few), that are owned and run by their members and usually (except for their football sections), aren't especially profitable. Increased commercialisation would be seen as anathema to the very values of many of these teams that are run for their members and are quite principled regarding community involvement in their clubs and staying in touch with their roots.

Mytanar basketball is characterised by finesse and skilful play, with passing and sharing the ball being crucial to the way teams play. Even bigs will boast the ability to make difficult passes and make solid reads and court intelligence is one of the most important things in the Mytanar game. Generally there are not specific players that dominate the points per game statistic. It is arguably more of a team-oriented style and players will also change position and can be tasked with taking on multiple roles in a game. There's less isolation plays than in a lot of other countries and athleticism isn't as important either, although this is something which is gradually changing as Mytanar basketball enters the international arena. Mytanija's 23rd place finish in the most recent International Basketball Championship (with a 5-5 record and 3rd place in Group H), demonstrated that the team could compete on the global stage but still has some way to go to reach the level of the likes of Banija, Delaclava, Newmanistan etc. Zelimir Ateljevic was a vital part of that team, with some of the team's younger players - those who have grown up watching international basketball - actually suiting the IBC style better than some of the more experienced campaigners. This could see a continued shift away from the more team-orientated style we have seen in Mytanija down the years.

Last year we saw Košarka Esca win their 9th MKA Liga title, their first since the 23/24 season, it was particularly important for them as a team because of the back-to-back final defeats they experienced following that last victory. This win allowed them to exorcise some of the demons of those defeats. Zenit Esca - last season's runners-up - have gone through the same experience, winning the championship in the 25/26 season and then tasting defeat in back-to-back finals since then. They may well see Košarka Esca's victory as a good omen for them ahead of this season as they look to end their woes. Away from the two finalists from last year we can expect good seasons from the likes of Atletik Thessia, a team which boasts two of the more impressive young performers from the national team in Besir Sijercic and Mario Djokanovic. Keep an eye for KK Avnalia too, they have an embarrassment of riches with the likes of Darko Belicanec and Tose Lekov on their team. Veterans Zharko Kostojcinovski and Teodor Mitrovski flattered to deceive at the IBC though, so maybe their championship window is closing? KK Rauchnya and NK Thessia have some good youngsters coming through the ranks and BK Magevskaya can always resort back to their fruitful production line if necessary too, Evgeny Fomin is a phenom at domestic level even if he had some inconsistent performances for the national team. It has all the hallmarks of an interesting year, let's see what happened:

An exceptional regular season for KK Avnalia who lose only 9 games on their way to the #1 seed for the play-offs. Their good mix of youth and experience seemingly paid off, with some of the older heads like Kostojcinovski and Mitrovski who were not particularly impressive with the national team demonstrating exactly why they were picked for that. There's an argument that Darko Belicanec is the best point guard in Mytanija at the moment, although NK Thessia's Zahir Dedic would have something to say if you said that to his face. Belicanec was the great facilitator for this KK Avnalia team, but he still used his 197cm frame to good effect when driving to the basket. He is a great example of the more physically gifted players that are coming through the ranks, players that have grown up watching IBC games and who have grown up playing in some of the infamous inner-city 'cages' where so much good street basketball is played in Mytanija. These players are breaking out of the mould of role-players within a greater team and are capable of individual brilliance, something which could be very useful for the national team in the future. Tose Lekov was once again impressive, the 20 year old big scoring plenty of points by simply dominating opponents with his size and athleticism.

BK Magevskaya's focus on youth is bearing fruit increasingly well in recent years and they secured a well deserved #2 seed this year. Evgeny Fomin is the main man for the Magev team, the big centre being surprisingly adept in possession and very useful in creating angles for his team mates in the post. His passing ability remains unmatched among Mytanar big men. We should also mention 21 year old point guard Damian Tsitnikov and 23 year old wing Yevgeniy Razuvayev. The pair have come up through the ranks at the club together and formed a very useful points-scoring tandem, it is very easy to imagine Razuvayev - who prefers to go by the nickname Zhenya - being paired with Zelimir Ateljevic for the national team and causing havoc given the similarity between the two players. NK Thessia also qualify directly to the second round, people thought their team was good but that it might be a year too early for them to be challenging for a top four seeding, but Zahir Dedic is a fantastic leader at the tender age of 21 and Aldin Nikic and Ajdin Pejic perhaps overperformed compared to where people thought they were at in their developmental trajectory. Last year's champions, the always dangerous Košarka Esca sneak in at #4 and the phenom Zelimir Ateljevic was the scoring leader once again this season, we saw an increased role for centre Ljes Borisavljevic too and he could become a really important player for the capital club over the coming years.

We then see four teams who all share 34-20 resumes, only separated by their head-to-head records and head-to-head points differentials. This would have been exactly around what KK Rauchnya were aiming for coming into the 28/29 season, they perhaps weren't good enough to truly fight for a top four seeding but they would have definitely wanted to finish high up in the first round seeds and to secure #5 and one of the easier ties in the first round of the play-offs will be encouraging for them. Last season's runners-up are at #6 and they will believe that that could see them through to the final going off Košarka Esca's rise from #8 to the championship last season. Zenit coach Mirko Lazetic returned to the MKA Liga off the back of coaching the national team at the IBC and he came up with some interesting schemes throughout the season, perhaps testing some new ideas he has learnt out in the domestic game. Atletik have three starters under the age of 23 and appear to be a team that is on the rise, everybody knows about Besir Sijercic and Mario Djokanovic so it was left to point guard Uzejir Juric to surprise a few people this season. Juric is a very capable creator in the mould of an Albin Jausovec but he also boasts strong shooting ability from the outside which makes him a real boon to any team as they try to keep the court spaced out. Padina are the perfect example of a small-market team who gets things right, the Zolota-based team only have a catchment area of around 200,000 people but they regularly challenge the big boys in the MKA Liga and they finish in the top eight this term. Their behemoth centre Ruslan Mihajlovic will give opponents nightmares with his 221cm, 129kg frame and guard Vojin Simic appears to be one for the future too.

KK Prizren will be very pleased with how their season has gone so far and even if it ends in the first round of the play-offs they will see this as a successful season given that they're rebuilding after a few key retirements at the end of the last campaign. They've only had a drop-off of four wins and that is a very encouraging sign for a city which deserves a strong basketball team. It's a sport they're still yet to win a championship in, something which seems vaguely ludicrous for a city the size of Prizren. Ribari Palilula are another small-market team who are heading in the right direction, their investment in youth is paying early dividends with the likes of Cvijetin Andric and Stracimir Nastasic coming through, a play-off berth bloodying the noses of some teams from much bigger cities whilst perhaps raising questions about those teams' recruitment and training procedures. If little Ribari can do it how are CDSA and Olympic so far down the standings? The last two teams into the play-offs are #11 Litala ’93 and #12 KK Miago. Both had terrible seasons last year, Litala ’93 finished bottom of the regular season standings with a 7-47 record but what a turnaround, they won 24 more games this season compared to last and richly deserve a play-off place as a result. KK Miago have a similar story, they finished 26th out of 28 last season and now they're in the play-offs. Much improved performances from both those teams and a lot of credit has to go to the coaching staff at both clubs for ironing out the issues which caused them to have such poor seasons last time out, it should offer hope for some of those teams down at the bottom this season.

First Round
#5 KK Rauchnya 73–77 #12 KK Miago
#6 Zenit 73–60 #11 Litala ’93
#7 Atletik 63–66 #10 Ribari
#8 Padina 90–76 #9 KK Prizren

KK Miago's great season got even better in the first round of the play-offs, it is possible that #5 seed KK Rauchnya rather underestimated their opponents and it is possible that we did too when we said the KK Miago match-up was one of the 'easier' ties that KK Rauchnya could have asked for. It was a close game right until the end though and KK Miago needed a couple of big stops inside the final minute to ensure they won the game, big man Ivo Mikulec drained two crucial free throws inside the final minute too, but the Rauchik club will be pretty disappointed when they perhaps felt that this was a season where they could have really challenged for the championship. Zenit and Litala ’93 met in an Escan derby game and as expected it was Zenit who came off the better of the two teams, Ivica Lazic was the games leading scoring with 23 points, the 22 year old point guard was 3/3 from behind the arc in a performance which really allowed that Zenit lead to stretch out to the 13 points difference between the two teams by the final buzzer. Ribari shocked Atletik in Thessia, the Palilula team needed a Cvijetin Andric three-pointer as time expired to beat Atletik. Ribari will believe they can beat anyone in these play-offs, Thessia is notoriously a difficult place to go and win and they held their nerve brilliantly to win a tough match-up. Padina were pretty dominant in their win over KK Prizren, holding a twenty point lead for large stretches of the game and only really allowing it to come in once they had removed their starters late in the game. Vojin Simic was once again impressive with a triple-double (28pts/11rbs/11asts), the shooting guard was central to everything Padina did in their win.

Second Round
#1 KK Avnalia 94–75 #12 KK Miago
#2 BK Magevskaya 82–51 #10 Ribari
#3 NK Thessia 74–78 #8 Padina
#4 Košarka Esca 66–56 #6 Zenit

KK Avnalia ended KK Miago's cinderella run with a dominant performance in Zvornik, Lekov and Belicanec combined for 61 points and generally showed why they are two of the top ten best Mytanar players at the moment. KK Miago had good moments in this game and some of the other teams remaining in the play-offs may take some heart from KK Avnalia's occasional lapses of concentration on the defensive end of the game. Still, scoring 94 points means you don't have to worry about that too much. BK Magevskaya were the opposite against Ribari, holding the Palilula team to a mere 51 points and generally locking them down no matter what they tried on the offensive end. Fomin was fantastic, coming down with 16 rebounds and making three blocks too. Zhenya Razuvayev was the leading scorer with 24 points from an exceptional 70% shooting from the field. Padina continue their run with a narrow win over NK Thessia, Zahir Dedic fouled out of the game early and left his team with an uphill struggle against the always spirited Padina team. Ruslan Mihajlovic was dominant in the paint and Ajdin Pejic struggled at times against the bigger centre, Mihajlovic scored ten unanswered points in a two-and-a-half minute run in the dying stages of the game and that allowed Padina some leeway as they faltered a little against a late NK Thessia charge. Košarka Esca enter the fray in a repeat of last season's final against Zenit and this was a game where neither team wanted to give each other very much and for that reason it was at times a drab affair. Zelimir Ateljevic never really got going but he still chimed in with a third of his team's points, Mirko Lazetic knew Ateljevic's strengths from working with him on the national team but was never really able to fully combat the wing. Zenit looked a bit blunt offensively at times and in the end the better team won and continued on in the hope of winning back-to-back MKA Liga titles.

Semi Finals
#1 KK Avnalia 78–65 #8 Padina
#2 BK Magevskaya 92–85 #4 Košarka Esca

KK Avnalia cruelly ended Padina's hopes of a second MKA Liga title with a professional performance in the semi final, as you would expect from a #1 seed. Kostojcinovski showed a bit of the skill which got him onto the national team with 22 points and 9 assists, the sort of thing which was at times lacking in his performances in the IBC. Padina were mostly held at arms length by the Avnalia team, never really able to build up a head of steam, Tose Lekov did a fantastic job in defending against the giant Ruslan Mihajlovic (occasionally assisted by Teodor Mitrovski). KK Avnalia look a scary prospect and few would bet against them winning their 3rd championship in 7 seasons at this moment in time. BK Magevskaya and the defending champions Košarka Esca treated us to one of the games of the season in their semi final, it was clear to anybody watching that this was two of the really exceptional teams in Mytanar basketball at the moment. Pundits were running out of superlatives to describe the effort put in by BK Magevskaya's Evgeny Fomin, the centre raised his game to another level to outduel his national team colleague Zelimir Ateljevic. Fomin was responsible for over a third of his team's scoring with an enormous 31 points, also coming down with 13 boards and 7 dimes for good measure. Ateljevic (23pts/10rbs/11asts) was also brilliant for Košarka Esca but it wasn't enough in the face of a breakout performance from Fomin. He might be the best player in Mytanar basketball at the moment.

MKA Liga Championship
#1 KK Avnalia 78–80 #2 BK Magevskaya

We have had some rather one-sided championship games in the past few seasons, not since the one-point game between KK Rauchnya and Košarka Esca in 24/25 have we had a game as exciting as this one and it may be a sign of the quality of the MKA Liga improving that this was such a brilliant encounter. BK Magevskaya needed a buzzer beating three pointer from Zhenya Razuvayev to win the game. Evgeny Fomin had posted up and backed in on Tose Lekov to try and score in the paint but defensive help came from Teodor Mitrovski meaning that Fomin chose to go off-plan and pass out to Razuvayev who knocked down a contested three. Sime Zdravsky had tried to prevent the pass from Fomin reaching Razuvayev, but he failed and this left him that second later in trying to block Razuvayev's shot. It was the split-second Razuvayev needed and it brought BK Magevskaya from one point behind to win the game as time expired. This BK Magevskaya team is stacked for the domestic level with three current national teamers in their ranks and Zhenya Razuvayev and Damian Tsitnikov who have been really impressive during this season, it is also an exceedingly young team (no starters older than 29, with four aged 25 or younger), meaning they should have plenty of opportunities to run it back. Could we be looking at a new dynasty in Mytanar basketball? Anyone around the team will be cautious with any predictions of that sort, this title was only their second and the first for nearly twenty years, not since the 10/11 season has MKA Liga glory been brought to Stratenberg. They're well set for the future though and nobody would be surprised to see them taste further success in the coming years. For now BK Magevskaya will be looking forward to their IUBC campaign; alongside runners-up KK Avnalia; and Košarka Esca who qualify by virtue of being the losing semi-finalist with the best regular season record.

2031-32 FBA Season

Postby Abanhfleft » Sun Mar 14, 2021 6:54 am

Once again, the FBA has been the subject of great controversy. This time though, the consequences were farther reaching than anyone could have imagined. Evidence of corruption at the highest levels of both the Fleftic Basketball Association and the Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League have resulted in both leagues being suspended from participation in the IUBC, among other things. Now though, after a year away from the multiverse's biggest international club basketball competition, the suspension of both the FBA and the PBSL has now been lifted, and the new administrations of both leagues have promised that they will go forth and be corrupt no more. And pigs will also start to fly.

On a lighter note though, the franchise based in Albarecete have finally adopted a new nickname for their team after years of confusion between the Albinos of the FBA and the Albinos of the Fleftic National League of American Football (FNLAF). From this season on, the FBA team in Albarecete will henceforth be known as the Albarecete Palominos. Aside from that, all the other teams in the league remain the same. Now it's time to get on with the results of the 2031-32 FBA season.

IUBC Trophy XXI: The Antarctic Forum, Uranium City, Fleftic Antarctica, Abanhfleft (cap. est. 60,084)

Image
Presenting the Antarctic Forum, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in regular use in the Fleftic Basketball Association

At 60,084 official stated capacity, the Antarctic Forum in Uranium City, Fleftic Antarctica Province is the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in regular use in the Fleftic Basketball Association. This means that the Antarctic Forum is the official home stadium of the Uranium City Nukes, four-time champions of the FBA, and the Nukes play all 41 of their home games at "the Forum". The Fleftic Arena, which has an official capacity of over 100,000, is the largest indoor stadium overall in Abanhfleft, but since it is only used time to time as the home stadium of the Riuwiee Presidents, it is not the Presidents' regular home stadium and therefore is not eligible for the honor currently held by the Antarctic Forum.

The Antarctic Forum was one of eight stadia used by Abanhfleft when the country hosted the 20th Handball World Cup, playing host to six group stage games, one Round of 16 game and one quarterfinal game in the aforementioned competition. Therefore it's fair to say that the Forum has some experience in handling international competitions. If selected as the final venue for the XXI IUBC Trophy, this will be the second time that Abanhfleft has played host to the competition after the Fleftic Arena hosted the final of the XII IUBC Trophy.

Corrupt Dictatorship

2031-32 Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League

Postby Trans-Dniesters » Sun Mar 14, 2021 7:27 am

If you thought corruption only happens in decadent capitalist basketball leagues then you would be wrong. It has come to light sometime during the 2030-31 season that there is rampant corruption in the highest echelons of the Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League. Of course, they weren't doing this alone; there is also substantial evidence that Pridnestrovian corruption was in cahoots with corruption at the highest levels of the Fleftic Basketball Association. Because of the evidence that came to light after years of investigation by the Pridnestrovian Committee for State Security and the Fleftic Republican Bureau of Investigation, the International Union of Basketball Clubs, or IUBC, had no choice but to suspend clubs from both the PBSL and the FBA from participating in any international competition for a whole year. Well, that year has now come and gone, and both the PBSL and FBA are free to participate in the IUBC once again. And the league has wasted no time in selecting Pridnestrovia's representatives for the 21st IUBC Trophy. Let us meet them now.
