The Assassin 2 missile family is a direct descendant of the Assassin missile formerly offered by Schwerpunkt. Though the missiles differ in dimensions and purpose, they share some technological and design elements, as well as actual components.
All Assassin 2 missiles employ a high angle top attack trajectory both to avoid the thick frontal protection of modern armored fighting vehicles and to decrease the chance of detection and successful intercept by active protection systems. The anti-tank warheads of all variants are tandem charge designs, meant to defeat explosive reactive armor. With the exception of the SR, all variants use a fiber optic wire for missile-launcher communications, both for its high speed of data transfer and to avoid possible jamming of RF and laser. All variants have very similar combined IIR/high definition electro-optic seekers, allowing fast and precise identification, tracking and engagement of targets. With the exception of the NLOS version, all Assassin variants have a 2 stage launch system, with a small pyrotechnic charge providing a “soft launch) for reduced signature and safe operation in confined areas.

Assassin 2 SR

The smallest and simplest variant is an extremely light, simple to use, short range multi-purpose ATGM.
The SR is shoulder launched from an integrated, disposable tube, using the missiles own IIR/CCD seeker to sight the target. A single infantryman can carry 2 missiles in a specially designed backpack.
Unlike the larger missiles in the family the SR is a purely Fire & Forget system. It is ready to fire 30 seconds from being switched on. Once the target is identified all the user must do is push a button to lock on to it, and another button to launch the missile. The missile will then engage the target autonomously in a top attack trajectory. Warhead options include Tandem HEAT and HEDP.

Assassin 2 LR
The super light, dual tube Assassin LR mount is ideal for light helicopters
The LR is a lightweight but long range guided missile meant for launch from a tripod launcher, ground vehicles, helicopters and small naval vessels. The LR is a step up from the SR not only in range but in complexity, with a gimbaled seeker and 3 different guidance modes. It uses either a X10 magnification IIR/Day time sight and control unit on the tripod or the sensors and sights of the platform on which it was integrated.
In the FIre & Forget mode the missile operates much like the SR variant, simply lock on to the target and launch, the missile will engage it in a top attack trajectory. But the LR is also capable of Fire and Observe/Update, with the operator viewing real time video feedback from the missiles seeker and controlling it. This allows the operator to switch targets or abort the attack in midair if needed (to avoid collateral damage for instance). The third mode is Fire to Coordinate, in which the missile is fired in the general know direction of enemy forces, and the operator then uses the feedback from the seeker to lock on to and attack a target. To it’s maximum range of 5.5km from a ground launch the LR variant utilizes fibre optic wire for missile to launcher communications. From a Helicopter, the LR is capable of engaging targets up to 10km away, using RF for communications. Because it is so light, it the LR makes a formidable armament for light helicopters, ground vehicles and vessels.

With a larger fuselage then the LR, the ER offers more range with the same engagement abilities. It is meant for installment on attack helicopters, medium and heavy ground vehicles, and small naval vessels. The ER variant is controlled by fibre optic for it’s entire range, 10km from a land based platform or 16km from helicopters. It can be integrated with other guidance systems such as the radar system on the WUAP-Assassin.

Assassin 2 NLOS
Though it is a large ATGM, the NLOS variant still offers significant range that can be integrated on small platforms
The NLOS variant is meant for beyond visual range precise engagement of high value targets, armor and material. Using fiber-optic control for the first 8km, it reaches out to a range of 30km with a faster response time then similar sized loitering munitions.It differs from the ER variant in its larger winglet span and heavier weight, with more fuel and an even harder hitting payload. The bread and butter mission for this system is being fired at targets spotted by other systems such as UAVs, observation teams etc. When arriving above the target location the operator can then direct the missile to engage the target with extreme precision. Direct attack within visual range is also possible. The NLOS variant is launched from a box shaped canister, and requires the integration of RF and control systems onto the launching vehicle.
