The forest was alight with the song of nature as birds of the night hooting and bugs chirping out their mating sound. A steady gust of wind made the branches of the trees gently sway, rustling together leaves. Moonlight, silver in color, beamed down in a clearing of small size, illuminating the area to a minor effect. Enough so that the armored warriors nearby were able to stand watch vigilantly.

These armored sentinels of the forest were Grey Wardens, knights of valor and courage, hunters of the blight and all those who aided it. Among their ranks were some of their most decorated warriors in the land. And they stood in a silent vigil over that clearing, hiding away behind the brush and trees so that their metal armor would be hidden from view.

A complete stillness in the forest snapped them into attention, the small group becoming acutely aware of the sudden change. No longer did the forest sing a song of beautiful nature and its gifts, instead there were only the screams of silence. Their number grew tense in anticipation. The faint footsteps and the cracking of small sticks that littered the forest floor were the only warnings of the arrival of their quarry.

They were immaculate beings, ones of beautiful form and an elegant grace. Dressed in dresses of colored lilies, some white and some red, they were the pinnacle of otherworldly beauty. Each step they took was deft, every movement they made was majestic yet unreal. Their very existence was jarring. Amongst them were beings of similar stature, though they lacked the grace and nimbleness of their flower adorned counterparts. They were instead dressed as if they were on a beach or even upon the high seas, reeking of salt water. Lastly there was the being of sand and black feathers, armed with decrepit armor of a long dead dynasty of the sands. They were part darkspawn yet part human, an amalgamation of both blight and light. But that mattered not to the Wardens.

For tonight, these beings were prey.

As the group of the half-dark rested and prepared for their nightly run of terrors, the Wardens slowly readied themselves. Steel swords, tempered in the furnaces of Weisshaupt Fortress, were drawn and held in ready stances. Steel armor, forged by the finest blacksmiths of the Order, furnished the great warriors. Steel hearts, created from the crucibles of their never ending war against the blight, prepared themselves for the coming battle.

Far away, a clock struck midnight. In the clearing, the part-darkspawn prepared to move further into the forest. And hidden in the treeline, the Wardens began their attack.

Deceivers in association with us

Postby Kingdom of Circle of Magi » Mon Mar 08, 2021 1:08 pm

High Constable Merlin's notes, Dragon 9:45 Nubulis 8th
We finally found the party that was sent to help the dwarven people of Orzammar with clearing out thaigs from the darkspawn menace and to spot new possible candidates for the Order. Sadly, only ten wardens of the original twenty-five remained and the dwarves of the warrior-caste that we’re to lead them we’re nowhere to find.

The ten wardens still living had devolved into gibbering madmen, shouting about an “imposter” and how he was among us. The wardens were escorted to Vigil’s keep and the incident was brought to my attention. I ordered the mages of the group to be executed even though I dislike doing so, I don’t want a Soldier’s Peak or Circle of Ferelden case on my hands.
The rest of the wardens were put into the care of the few mages that were specialized in healing spells. These mages found the following mark on every warden that they were assigned to heal.

Image
From the wardens, only Lieutenant Matthew remained sane enough to keep working without major problems. We need to keep him away from ANYTHING that even has the passing resemblance to the marking on his back or he will go in berserk like trance and seeks to destroy the object. Words “suspicious”, “imposter” and “among us” should be avoided while being near him or anybody of the party for that matter due to them causing the same effect.

I hope that we don’t have yet another constant danger in the deep roads. The local fauna, lyrium ore, and darkspawn were already enough before the red lyrium, another thing that can kill our men isn’t a thing we need. Will bring this up before the next mission into the deep roads happens.

I can't fucking take it. I see an image of a random object posted and then I see it, I fucking see it. "Oh that looks kinda like the among us guy" it started as. That's funny, that's a cool reference. But I kept going, I'd see a fridge that looked like among us, I'd see an animated bag of chips that looked like among us, I'd see a hat that looked like among us. And every time I'd burst into an insane, breath deprived laugh staring at the image as the words AMOGUS ran through my head. It's torment, psychological torture, I am being conditioned to laugh maniacly any time I see an oval on a red object. I can't fucking live like this... I can't I can't I can't I can't I can't! And don't get me fucking started on the words! I'll never hear the word suspicious again without thinking of among us. Someone does something bad and I can't say anything other than "sus." I could watch a man murder everyone I love and all I would be able to say is "red sus" and laugh like a fucking insane person. And the word "among" is ruined. The phrase "among us" is ruined. I can't live anymore. Among us has destroyed my fucking life. I want to eject myself from this plane of existence. MAKE IT STOP!

Warden Cavalry Patrolling for Darkspawn

Grey Warden's Log
9th Day of Drakonis

Another eventful night has passed, with Darkspawn scouts once again venturing onto the roads snaking through the Tirashan Forest. Our posting was meant to be uneventful, with the Order and its allies having swept these roads thoroughly but a fortnight back, but fate often like to provide twists to one's expectations. It was from the blooming of corrupted forest lilies that we first knew our foe was close. What is normally a pleasant and relaxing aroma becomes one of cloying rot, bringing about sickening of the stomach and a feeling of foreboding. Soon after, trampled leaves and fresh hurlock tracks confirmed what we feared. Once more the darkspawn had ventured out, seemingly to update themselves on the region's happenings while they'd been away.

Our outfit tonight was large in number, a welcoming reassurance when traversing the dark twisting paths of Tirashan. Ranging from the newly inducted Wardens, having just recently undertaken The Joining, to The First Warden himself, eight strong made the ride out from camp. All eight were ready for whatever was to be thrown at them, however, as anyone who undertakes the Joining successfully is not without significant merit. Three more seasoned in slaying darkspawn joined us on our path, local warriors part of the Liberation Accord. Together, with eleven, we pressed on into the darkness. The warming heat of our campfires was by now well behind us, with only the light of our torches and that of the setting sun to guide our sight. The smell of rot grew stronger, and the darkness felt unnatural - almost enveloping. Ancient magic still dwelled in the depths the Tirashan Forest, where elves long unseen by the eyes of men were rumored to walk. A calm set in the air, as if the forest held its breath awaiting the sacrifice of blood to come. Yet on we pressed, for it was through this foreboding peace that we must remain vigilant in the never-ending conflict against the Darkspawn.

Soon after we came in contact with our foe. Quickly they scattered, seeking to spread their Blight to as many regions of Tirashan as they could. Quicker yet we pursued them, striking them down at each opportunity. More inspiring yet was the demeanor of our newer Wardens, and that of our allies in the fight. Having shown immense progress in the past weeks, as our deployment into these lands has brought forth many an opportunity to test one's mettle against the Darkspawn, those of a greener variety aptly held their own against the foe. Time and time again we ran down our foe, outnumbering them beyond resistance. As hoped, the Alpha Emissary commanding them was unable to overcome the Wardens, no matter how many targets their dark magic seemed to find.

The skirmish was over quickly tonight. With almost no ground given up to the darkspawn menace, whose incursion attempts were largely cut down by Warden steel, it was but thirty minutes later that we headed back to camp. We were fortunate tonight. Greatly outnumbering and outclassing our foe, we tracked them and will continue to track them, rooting our darkspawn until they are no longer a threat to Thedas. From Ferelden to The Anderfels, Antiva to Orlais, The Darkspawn pose a constant threat. Those of us from The Anderfels might know it best, having lost so much to The Blight, but nowhere can be truly safe until it is fully eradicated. So we push on, ever seeking our foe, ever bearing the burden we as Grey Wardens have undertaken.

The 2nd Best Raider On Nationstates Waste Steven (2021 Colorized)

Hello all, it's me again. You might be wondering now "Oh, Tim, are you here to report on another moderate victory over a low stamina effort", and you wouldn't be faulted for thinking that. However, it seems that our recent victories have continued to be so substantive that those low stamina groups are present at update less and less. No, tonight was different. Credit to Frenchy and Waste though, they're fucking immense. It's a shame most of non-Lily Raiderdom simply isn't that good anymore.

Lily. They're pretty much the best updaters around on the raider-leaning side of things. Tag Record Holders, Speed Demons, Genuinely Fun People, etc, etc etc. Before recently, we've considered Lily to be the only opposition that can still maintain a 50%+ win rate against us. When focused against, all of the other tagging groups can consistently be dumpstered. TBH, TWP, ERN, and NPA all make an effort, but are rarely able to manage once Warden chasers turn to them. Lily? Lily takes some effort. However, once you look at the details of tonight's 49* defense run, you begin to see a picture that signifies who and what stands in the way of would-be raiders at update nowadays. Remember when we only had 2-3 people online? Good times.

Tonight, The Grey Wardens made clear that you really can't beat us anymore.

Lily started tagging at 00:06. They paused at 00:12 until 00:24 on account of an excessively long Chicken Overlords update. At 00:41 they made their last jump. Now, Chicken Overlords typically takes ~3 minutes to update during a normal update cycle, so when calculating records and the like, we'll just subtract the other 9 minutes from the total. So here we are, at what would normally be about ~00:32 into Major Update. When you remove the six minutes from the start of update that Lily was prepping for, that means they only lasted 26 minutes. In those 26 minutes we defended 48 regions, with Lily successfully hitting 5. That's what our closest competition, the pinnacle of tag raiding, was able to do at this point against us.

Once again, double digit numbers were present in Libcord chasing tonight. Seven of those were Wardens. It's a Tuesday night.

Anybody that wants to know what it feels like to win is more than welcome to join The Grey Wardens and our Libcord friends in saving NationStates from The Blight.

*the official operation tally is 49, but 50 regions were defended. A fascist region was inadvertently defended during a high-speed portion of the chase, and was not credited as a defense. We'll be back to tag it ourselves.

Grumbles something something losing to numbers

But in all seriousness - it's hard to be upset at losing to numbers when those numbers are as skilled as you all. A consistently large team of some of the best updaters Nationstates has ever seen is hard to beat, though maybe if a certain supreme command member were to raid with us...
