I completely agree that primarying Manchin means his seat will probably go to a Republican. That's what's called a risk. If you don't take that risk, Manchin won't do anything you want, effectively turning him into a Republican.

So you don't have standards.

It’s a risk I’m not willing to take. Had he lost in 2018 Biden would not be getting anything done and would not have a cabinet or get any judges nominated. Why don’t you see this?

I do have standards and they include nominating people who can win.

Biden isn't able to get anything done anyways. There really is no functional difference for passing legislation if you have 49 votes compared to 50, you still have to bend over backwards and let the GOP gut everything for even a chance of it happening.

The party with technical control of the Senate decides what even get debated or voted on. Republicans would clearly rather not talk about more Stimulus. The Senate would be talking about something else if they had control.

a lot of the policy initiatives are just for show anyway imo. Biden and Harris knew it was a lie when they said they'd raise the minimum wage.

With a 50-50 Senate, Biden is guaranteed to get his cabinet confirmed, and the package passed. The $1.9 trillion was passed with almost full content - save for the minimum wage. So no, this isn't a big gut nor bending over backwards for the GOP. I'd be more worried if the child tax credits, the unemployment insurance, the eviction moratorium, or the checks were getting gutted.

https://thehill.com/policy/technology/5 ... arks-clash

Some Democrats are apparently pressuring some cable companies to censor or deplatform right wing media for "disinformation" which includes Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax.

Isn't the US federal government pursuing this going against 1st Amendment? What business is it for the government to try to tell cable companies what to broadcast? The cable companies are normally only concerned with money/ratings and don't have to answer to the whims of any politicians if what they're doing is fully within the law.

If the Democrats are not pressuring it they are not some cable companies to censor or deplatform right wing media for "disinformation" which includes Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax - Than Cool

If Certain Democrats are pressuring some cable companies to censor or deplatform right wing media for "disinformation" which includes Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax - Than the other democrats in congress need to condemn them and attempt to expel them from congress like they impeached Republican President Donald J Trump of the USA - and Democrat supporters need to condemn them on and off NS - But it might or might not happen, or happen to some.

Stimulus is good but it's hardly new policy: there were two of them last year.

I guess the next chance to pass $15 minimum wage without a supermajority, would be the next Budget.

Actually, the average trade worker only gets around $50 an hour if they're in a Union state.

At Will states the average trade worker gets about only ~$15 an hour. (Course there are exceptions, masters can make $150,000, but as I said they're the exception, not the rule)

Also, $7.50 was worth about $24 today in the 60's when MW was originally introduced.

Most professional tradespeople with enough experience or skill, start their own company or practice, which is where the real money is. You'll get far more working for yourself than as part of a larger company. A good enough electrician or plumber for example, makes a ton. Plenty of people don't want to have to call either if they have a residential problem that needs fixing as a result.

People try to fix it themselves with help from online and materials from Lowes/Home Depot, unless the problem is beyond them in difficulty and they have to budget for outside help.
