"Hold there but everyone else, move! We're going to be overrun!" Aula called.
"Ma'am, what's the plan now?" Aula asked, "Do we hold here until the appropriate moment then try to storm the ground so we can evacuate the wounded?"
Bingellia wrote:Violann returned to the stairs in time to catch Aula dissuading any further attempt to try to push the chokepoint. "We wait, lieutenant, but make sure people stay alert for attempts to use ladders." she answered as she reached for her own rifle and inspected the power pack. By her estimate, she had about 10 shots left in the loaded pack. The spare was untouched, as was her pistol. "We need to conserve our rifle shots for the break out when the shuttle arrives. Automatic fire will help sweep the floor." she added as she swapped the pack and flicked her rifle to automatic before shouldering it again. "But we should have plenty of pistol packs to hold a stairwell against primitives armed with spears and bows."

It's unwieldy, but someone should be able to carry it on their back if they lean forward a bit. It will take two hands but if they walk backwards it should allow someone else to advance behind them in relative cover. If you approve of the plan I would suggest either a short shooter and me carrying it or a tall carrier and me as the shooter."

I am hoping these, when hit with some blaster fire will turn into a nice little fire bomb to encourage crowd dispersal.
She hands them over to the Major. "Excuse me but I think these are best in your hands. I've got to see about getting a few of these doors of the hinges to use as stretchers for a few of the wounded who are not that mobile."
Imogen turns and walks to the bathroom door. She pulls out the ice pick she has been carrying and uses it to push out the pins of the door hinges to allow the door to be leveled down onto the floor and have one of the patients with a serious back injury moved onto it.

"A Dhasath speaking Esperanto. How Martian," Violann thought to herself. The lieutenant was more than that, of course, and there was a faint bit of envy as Violann's thoughts turned towards the crew once more as she once more settled in for the long wait. Diverse groups were nothing new in her experience since transferring to the UNS, and the smattering of phrases and words in assorted languages she picked up was proof of that. It was rarely mutual in her experience, Kiellari was said to be difficult to learn by humans. After a moment, however, she decided now wasn't the time to dwell on her past.Dyelli Beybi wrote:Time ticked on until there were ten minutes to go. Aula grimaced. "Permission granted, Lieutenant," Violann answered as she looked towards the other woman approaching her.Alcona and Hubris wrote:She hands them over to the Major. Molotovs. Violann glared at the woman as she took the firebombs. It was field expedient to make them, the major would admit that, but it was risky mixing them and the urge to smash them grew the longer she looked at them. "Hellish things to use," she grumbled to herself, "What a weapon for the descendants of peacekeepers."
But the engineer was right, she was well-built under her uniform, especially by the standards of a Kiel, so it wasn't an extreme leap in logic to assume she had an excellent throwing arm. Violann couldn't help but feel insulted, the human assuming she'd be willing to use them. The major was about to speak to the engineer as Emily approached.Grenartia wrote:Emily interjected. "It'll be a challenge trying to stand on the roof, but it is less risky if it works," Violann answered. "You have five minutes to try. We can't afford to wait here any longer than that."
She turned her attention back to the engineer as the last of the ideas were sorted through, but the sight of her working to make a makeshift stretcher calmed the major down enough to stay focused on the immediacy of the simulation.

It was all taking a bit too long... while the group were still discussing who was going to break a hole in the roof, the unmistakable landing lights of a large shuttle were seen, briefly, descending in towards the open area they were supposed to be rendezvousing with it in. The horse had bolted.
"Ma'am," Aula motioned significantly at the vessel at it dipped below the tree line, just in case Violann had missed the display, "What is the plan now? I'm still in good condition," she declared, despite the large amount of congealed blood at her neck, "If we clear the ground floor and break through, then I can run down to the shuttle and ask for them to wait, or fly up here, or something similar."

"Lieutenant Cartia and I are going to clear path to the kitchen on the first floor. Once Cartia calls that there's a path, I want you two to run for the shuttle while we try to cover you from the windows. Tell them we're boxed in and need them to fly over so we can extract through the roof."
With a quick motion, the major offered Carter her rifle. "It's one fully charged pack loaded, but it should help. Any questions?"

"Tushnu," Violann spoke as she frowned in the direction of the shuttle. "Get however many people you need to get a hole in that roof large enough for the wounded, quickly." Despite her best efforts to hide it, the annoyance in her voice was clear. This group was seemed skilled at wasting time at the very least, and this was setting everything back.

"So do you want port or starboard on our run?"
The three closest soon found themselves under barrage of fire, and soon tumbled to the ground despite a wasted few shots. Scanning the room, they seemed to be free for a moment, but the shots would likely attract more. "Drop the shield, Cartia," the major said as she trained her pistol on the way to the kitchen. The back door would hopefully draw less attention to the runners, but there was always a chance something would be waiting on the way there.

He glowered at the woozy band of officers, as if hoping one of them would test his patience (presumably that was what the MPs were for) then, without any further conversation, turned on his heel and left the room, leaving the officers and other senior crew to regain their footing in reality.
