Back in Toules, the construction of Marine Corps Base Camp Lopez had begun, and the Romextilian major was invited to the dedication of the Camp. The camp was located outside the city along the river running past the north side of the city, strategically placed to protect the river crossing from Guyit territory. Up to 10,000 Marines would be based out of the Camp, their main goal being not just the protection of Toules, but the liberation of what was Guyit territory from the guerillas. Currently 1,500 Marines manned the tent city that would be home until permanent structures could be built. Many of the Marines had heard stories of the Guyit from the locals, and were not very happy that they had drawn the short straws and been assigned to the area.

The remaining bombs were dropped on the fleeing soldiers, but given the circumstances, were ineffective.

"They're going to ground" was the official after action summary. More elements of the Ibican Army were to be relocated to Caustoles to assist Marines on the ground. The attack made their jobs so much harder. But would also hopefully lead to more friendly locals would accept, heck maybe even request Ibican assistance. More Marines were assigned to the base in Toules to protect that city due to its proximity to the Guyit.

Places were bombed in the night and solo Ibicans sniped from the forests

Defense were hardened in towns with Ibican protection, patrols in town at night, counter snipers with flir and thermal cameras. While this improved Ibican performance, Ibican soldiers were still inexperienced against guerillas. Over the first several days, around 90 Marines had been killed. Joint Base Maurau was now routinely receiving those killed in action in other parts of the territory. A-18's now patrolled the wilderness near cities at night with flir and thermal cameras, firing heat seeking missiles at any bands of Guyit they could find. But they just seemed to keep coming.

One tuesday in a small city was normal. Women shopping, along with new automobiles. A child kicked a soccer ball to a corner. He went over and found a large box counting down "Ma? The us-" a huge explosion is heard and most of the city evaporated

OOC: What kind of technology to they have access to?

IC: Ibican forces arrived within hours to offer assistance to the locals after the fact, providing search and rescue assistance and helping secure the area from any remaining guyit in the area. Explosive sniffing dogs were now routinely deployed to friendly villages, with EOD trained handlers. The military presence around Ibican held "safe zones" was massively upscaled, keeping most controlled territory safe. Meanwhile, Ibican planes kept on the search for Guyit camps within the Ibican claims, dropping bombs on any they could find.

OOC: 2010's tech. They took it off an expenditionary cruise a couple of years ago.
IC: The economic prosperity in Native villages has fallen. All attempts to move is at least met with 5 dead.

Economic assistance is offered to many of these villages to offset the effects of Guyit terrorism, but the economic help doesn't offset the social pains inflicted. Ibican troops attempt to clear out the Guyit's original holdings. Elsewhere, attacks on Guyit are restricted to airstrikes, while defenses continue to be hardened. Over the course of these weeks, 100s of Ibican soldiers and allied militiamen are killed, but civilian deaths begin to decline.

Guyit number of attacks decrease, but any attempt at clearing the forrest is met with massive casualties.

He immediately felt sick due to the fact throughout all 17 years of his life, he had never had pork. He then threw up twice. Then he spoke.

Back in Maurau, far removed from the fighting against the Guyit, more progress was made in the construction in town. A modernized bulk break and roll on/roll off terminal at the port, road improvement projects, and a large section of base housing and other facilities. Planes to support the effort against the Guyit were almost always either taking off or landing. And the idea of Maurau becoming part of Ibica had been floated. Especially if the threat of the Guyit ever reached the city, the additional resources that would be guarenteed to the area could mean it would be safe from the attacks. But this would of course have to be with the consent of Maurau's population.

Speaking of Maurau's population, it had swelled. Before the arrival of the Ibicans, the town had a population was around 7,500; but now swelled to nearly 20,000 with Ibican troops. The economy there continued to boom, in contrast to the cities in striking distance of the Guyit. Ibican businesses had also set up shop in the city, with a daily commercial flight of Ibian Airlines planned to begin between Maurau and Willmington, the Ibican capital.

The agreement between with the Akan had been communicated. Recon flights had begun over Yuikl territory, with plans being drawn up on how to seize lands that had been claimed by Ibica.

The Akan have formally recongnized the Guyit as a terrorist organization, but it is more political than anything and they will do nothing

A town has withdrawn it's submission to Ibica in exchange for no more attacks
