If we're going about on talent definitely Herlina but I think Tohlhaiyev has the more demanding and more imposing aura which can be very beneficial.

Methinks Herlina is quite influencial in the team by the looks of it. I mean, just look at his interviews. Class.

None of them are fit. I don't think they have the qualities to be captains. I'd think that Nikilita is a better bet.

None of them. They all need to learn on their footballing talent before deciding who is the best candidate.

They both deserve the captaincy... Though I'd give it to Tohlhaiyev. He seems like a really strong figure especially in defense as opposed to Herlina

Wait What
By Tomathan Hammerland
BUSEMBE- Alright, kittens, gather around. It's time to tell the tale of how Qasden stunned Audioslavia with the power of DIX.
Going into the second phase, the NewVans, high off of a lucky promotion over Gyatso-Kai in League B, were about as ready to battle the regional titans as a guy with a water gun against the freaking sun, eager but doomed beyond all doubt. The Simeone Di Bradini Group, named after the multiversally-acclaimed Starblaydian, proved to be that challenge. The first was, fittingly, against Di Bradini's homeland: The Reigning Champions of AOCAF. The Vans would obviously lose the match, though much closer than anyone imagined at a mere 0-1. The next match would essentially be like facing the Starblaydians again, but on a copious amount of steroids, taking on the hosts and World Champs, both official and unofficial, Banija. Again, the team of newbie Vans would be stomped on, this time at a score of 0-2; yet somehow, they still technically weren't the worst team in the group. Audioslavia, nefarious northeasterner and last regional's maid of honor, discovered very quickly that forcefully combining their best players from 4 separate Phase 1 squads would be meaningless against the literal 1 and 2 of Atlantian Oceania, losing to Bans and Starbs both 0-2. Unlike Qasden, however, the Bulls were good enough in Phase 1 of the tournament to gain the UWC title, beating Banija on Matchday 3. Sure, they would immediately lose it to the soon relegated Equestrians afterwards (who, in turn, gave it back to Banija, keeping the damn thing ever since), but at least they can say they had it recently. Like Banija and Starblaydia, Audioslavia justifiably crossed Qasden off from being a threat to their game, seeing as we're the group's Pot 4 and the 11-space gap in rank between us.
The match, taking place in a stadium that once had former-AM Zachary Sols as its' manager, proved to be both dull and absolutely shocking on all levels. I would've explained this match more, but I spent all that time reporting about the stuff we already knew. As a surprise, the Vans held their ground against Sean Patterick's squad; and to an even bigger surprise, a corner kick from Aldous Greene would lead to the Qasden's first and only goal in the group, being claimed by the ninth defender, Rufus Lester, out of all people. Indeed, thanks to the change in locale and the strong head of DIX, the Vans would stave off the clearly superior Audioslavia to claim an acceptable 3rd place, a spot that means both so much and so little going into the knockouts. Following a quick set of play-ins between League C's winners and League A's leftovers, the Round of 24 was set, pitting every team seeded 9-24 against each other in different parts of Banija. Among the eight matches stands 4 that I felt the odd need to highlight with the weird map graphics readers like for some reason.
Who would've thought these two would meet again so early in the knockouts? This match features the powerful ponies of Equestria against the raging bulls of a possibly rebounding Audioslavia in the somewhat-but-not-really diverse city of Hoima. The storied duo had already met in Phase 1 of the tournament, exchanging wins/losses and the UWC title between each other in the double round robin before the former's untimely descent into League B. During their time in the Ezio Grassi Group, the Ponies went on an absolute rampage, decimating the most talented squads from Freeport and Lochario, becoming 1 of only 2 second phase teams to finish with 3 wins. While Audioslavia didn't have as successful of a Phase 2, they did prove their effectiveness in the play-ins, beating Anthor 2-1 in decisive fashion. Despite their close history and rank, the results of this match will greatly impact the scope of the Round of 16 due to their given seeds. Should 9th-seed Equestria win, an Octofinal meet with the Busoga Islands would be all but certain, but should the 24th-seed Bulls win, then the top seed Eel-Cat Things will be their next opponent. Regardless, this is a knockout to watch.
*- At this current time, there is no map from AO Cartography that depicts Twicetagria. However, the latter's claims have led to the speculation of their location being somewhere in West Azeruia north of Demot. This map of them is not legitimate, but the best the graphics guy could do in such short notice.
Damn these countries are huge; Why can't everyone be smol like Nellietopia? Anyways, the next highlighted matchup features the recent Cup of Harmony champions and former self-loathers, Krytenia, taking on the only Phase 2 League C team to survive the Play-Ins, Twicetagria. The only nation where the color cyan is observed as a national fetish, Krytenia had a pretty strange journey in the AOCAF so far, falling out of Group A4 in Phase 1 (internationally agreed upon as the most insane group at the time). Of course, like Equestria, the Dragons (I think?) learned nothing about the woes of relegation as they, too, threw several partially-opened cans of whoop-ass at their bunkmates in the Keira Andisori Group (with the notable exception of Netop, who caught the can and crushed it with one hand, unnerving the Kryties a bit). At the end of it, the Cyan-lovers took the 10th seed of the tournament, a stone's throw away from a match with Hapilopper in the Octos. Their opponent, however, is one to be somewhat feared, as well. Twicetagria, like their opponent, started off in a rough patch, losing 3 matches in their Phase 1 League B group before ultimately being relegated. Despite the setback, the Sergeants got things done quickly in the Zachary Fortin Group of League C, claiming the play-in spot early over tough challenges from Khytonya, Yesopalitha, and Aji No Moto. It would be in the play-ins where the Twicetagrians would shine brightest, however, as they triumphed over the Euran Oceania Territories in extra time, becoming the only team from League C to survive the Play-In purge. Now they come to prove their wits once again, but will they be able to handle the ominous Krytenia?
Ok good, some smaller nations for a change. Taking a turn from the League B Winners vs Play-In survivors, a match to possibly watch would be that between the 14th-seeded Baker Park and the 19th-seeded Tropicorp. As the Commonwealth responsible for Jon Merritt's departure from Qasden, Baker Park has so far served as a strong contender in the tournament (a runner-up in Phase 1's League A), but not as strong as they could be. In the Solara Vol Group of Phase 2, The Bees or whatever narrowly avoided the Play-Ins after a close victory over the group's winners, Sarzonia, instead giving the last place to Northwest Kalactin. As the region's #5, it can be easily assumed that Baker Park will just mosey along into the Round of 16 (with no upsets above them leading to a meeting with shockingly terrifying Chromatika), but it would be just plain rude to brush aside the Techies like that. Tropicorp's performance so far has been both great and not so great at the same time. In Phase 1, Tropicorp tied for first on points with a resounding 10, only missing out on promotion due to their head-to-head results with the group's eventual winner, Hapilopper. Trying again, this time in the Ronnie van Rijn group, Tropicorp again missed marks, drawing Siovanija & Teusland and losing to the Sultanate of Oontaz. However, a win on matchday 1 against Osarius kept the engineering-obsessed team in play for the knockouts. Speaking for a team that has lost to both in knockouts, it'll take a lot from either side to overcome the other in Jinja City.
*- Like Twicetagria, there is no map provided by AO Cartography showing Gallavrynga's exact location within the region. Since the country has yet to state their whereabouts, would be it wrong to assume they're but figments of our collective imaginations? Well of course it'd be wrong, ask the teams that played them. Anyways, we just took the cartographer's logo and gave it a green-black gradient for Galla.
Of course we we're gonna talk about our own match; we're not "Qasden Athletic News" for nothing! To finish out our map highlights, we move our eyes over to the closest match of the Round of 24 (seed-wise, anyways) between the Vans of the River's End and the Lionhearts of the Parts Unknown. Yes, we're previewing Qasden versus Gallavrynga, an unlikely match made all the more likely by actually happening. We've talked about Qasden enough for one report, so let's put the spotlight on Gallavrynga for a bit. The Lionhearts, led by former player, Isaac Longwood, debuted in international competition in Phase 1 of this very tournament, playing against the likes of Khytonya, North Handoria, and Anthor. Unranked and unassuming, Gallavrynga shocked just about everyone by going 3-0-0 right off the bat, slowing down in the latter 3 just enough to tease the promotion to League B in front of their groupmates before skirting off to the Ezio Grassi Group. There the team again proved themselves a force to be reckoned with after crushing both Lochario and Freeport. Though they were narrowly stopped by Equestria on the final day (proving they do, indeed, have a high ceiling), it would be a shame to call Longwood and the Lionhearts' efforts anything short of outstanding, with Starblaydians even citing them as "Silent Champs". Of course, to plant that title into fruition, the new team will need to overcome the NewVans, and if there's anything that Sylvia Zimari beating Sean Patterick proves, it's that Qasden isn't gonna go down without a fight. The winner of this match, should no other upsets happen, would become the Octofinals' 16th seed, meaning that whoever wins this child's play of a game will be met brutally by Vilita & Turori. For now though, let's ignore the imminent danger and focus on the match at hand, ready for battle at the Electra Stadium in Mynda.
Can Zimari and the Vans handle their first true do-or-die scenario of the tournamet? Or will Gallavrynga show off their newcomer prowess like Baker Park did all those moons ago? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for future reports, live from the largest city in the Aksum Region!
