Its not if the other person won more states. It's bad enough that New York for example, is solid red but almost always appears solid blue because of solely NYC. The popular vote is used at the more local level, so that should be sufficient.

If the EC is about states then why isn't it just a vote by the senate? What's the point of the larger presidential election if it's not about the people?

You'd think that if the Dems were committing widespread vote fraud like Trump claims they are, they'd have given themselves the Senate.

Though it's notable that France doesn't exactly use that system. "The person with the most votes" in a field of five or six could well be Marine le Pen. The other parties did a deal one year to ensure she didn't make the runoff. And you can only do that if you have runoff elections (instant or actual).

And it should be the popular vote only. if candidate for your states governor got the most votes but lost the election because their opponent won more counties would you think that was fair?

Hi all, so I apologized for not being in the conversation. For some reason I can't get on here one of my Wi-Fi but somehow I can get on here without it. Sighs.

Anyway, I'll update the spreadsheet either Sunday or Monday and add the people from the other thread. I apologize.

Anyway, it looks like while this will be close, Biden will win it. And Trump is fighting everything by what I see too. Anyway, Biden needs 1-2 States and he has this. And I think he will.

Problem is that it would require a constitutional amendment, which 2/3rds of the states would have to agree to. The redneck states will never vote away their disproportionate power. There's a thing called the interstate EC compact, where states sign up to simply give their EVs to the winner of the popular vote. It simply requires enough states to sign up that would give 270 EVs for this to effectively bypass the EC.

3,486 votes to be exact, according to AP. I'm getting really concerned. :(

I never thought Georgia would be a swing state. I thought it was another one of the firmly red states like Mississippi and Alabama.

Nah. The forests of the Sierra Nevada are massive and it's some of the roughest terrain in the country, not counting the damage to pristine wilderness.

We did some controlled burns but in late 2016 the weather was so wet we couldn't get anything to light up. 2017 brought massive rains, Oroville dam almost exploded, and the forests were ripe with new plant life.

Which then dies and burns by 2018.

The residents of Paradise and Magalia had a habit of concealing their homes with thick brush and trees to hide whatever illegal operations they were doing (Meth, Marijuana) and that only made things worse.

Hmm... meaning that even if a lot of other states boycott the EC, it doesn't matter as long as there are enough states remaining who can make up 270 for any one candidate?

You're thinking of the Senate, where people of one state have EQUAL representation to people of another state.

In the Electoral college, small states get a positive bias but they do NOT get equality.
