At the very least, PV should be a tiebreaker if the EC is tied. The House delegation system is vulnerable to gerrymandering.

So whether or not the public accepts the voting results is not relevant in a democracy - there's reality, and then there are Forsher's theories.

How you've come to this conclusion I have no idea. It's got nothing at all to do with what we've been talking about.

Of course, you're also wrong about the conclusion... if the public doesn't accept the results and something happens, then you're not talking about a democracy... we're talking revolution, revolt, rebellion, coups and what have you. And if the public "doesn't accept the results" but "the results are what's implemented anyway", the public's lack of acceptance is... irrelevant. Far from ideal, but completely fucking irrelevant to our conversation.

You do realize that having a recount might let the public become more accepting of a result, right? And that a recount isn't that complicated. Also, if a state is poorly run, it might have major issues, and I'm saying that I wouldn't be surprised if Whitmer's Administration has major issues.

None of which matters to whether or not Google colours Michigan in like other uncalled states OR whether or not a recount will change the result (and thereby justify Google's decision to colour all uncalled states the same way... or not)... you know the ONLY things we've been talking about.

But you deliberately choose to ignore reality, and attempt to focus on theory, treating Michigan like any other state, and you cannot even grasp why that's wrong. Agreed. That's why I'm a bit hesitant to say that x won or y won. Not a smart thing for Trump to declare victory, or Biden for that matter, (thankfully he didn't, yet,) or Google treating genuinely leaning states the same as they're treating states where margin of victory is less than one percent.

A lead of 1 percentage point, at the level of US states, is usually going to be measured in tens of thousands of votes (and frequently leads within 1 percentage point). To have a recount actually change matters, tens of thousands of votes have to be miscounted... which is extremely unlikely. Similarly, a lead is a lead and all that actually matters is the final count... acting like certain kinds of surmountable leads are better than others merely serves to give the impression that some leads are more legitimate than others (which is exactly the problem with Trump's little declaration).

That's it. That's the entire conversation. It's about Google and candidates claiming to have won when they shouldn't have. It's not about the legitimacy of the results, the prospect of revolution and the capacity of recounts to contribute to and attenuate the same.
