You can, but for a congressional hearing, we'll need the senators and represenatives to be available. I think we do need a break from the convention.

Here's the plan: The Constitutional Convention will be on hold for a small break (let's say at least week or so in the IC) while the hearings take place. The current day will be the final convention day before the temporary break. This will be formalized by a vote in the IC

As Cold Snom said, it's essentially the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democrats (the two groups split as the NPPs were too radical for the Dems while the Dems were too moderate for the NPPs). I played TNO a few months ago, so there is a high chance I subconsciously took the name. Theodore Roosevelt also ran in 1912 with a party called the "Progressive Party"

So how does senator seniority work?

Senatorial seniority has a few functions, but they're mainly for courtesy. The state's longer serving senator is commonly referred to as "senior senator" while the other is called the "junior senator". They also have preference on the choice of being on a committee and the party leaders. But there's two important parts of it, but I don't think either will be particularly important here

1: The longest serving senator in the Senate is usually the president pro tempore of the Senate
2: The US divides the Senate into 3 classes. In practice, this means that the junior and senior senators run for re-election in different years.
