Background

It was clear from the beginning of the votes that the Malta Comino Gozoan entry had gone down well. Aris and her team swiftly picked up points right away. As the votes came in thick and fast so did the the 12 points. Malta Comino Gozo was now first in the table and their lead was increasing, they were not being overtaken. Not one but FIVE international juries gave Malta Comino Gozo their converted douze pouze, Waisnor, Achaean Republic, Elejamie, Fauntenheddo and Polkopia. This was the most 12 points MCG had ever received. Aris and her team huddled excitedly as the jury votes ended with them leading on 118pts. Now came the even more nerve wracking part, could they hold onto their lead. Nation after nations was called leaving more room for them to be called. The top 10 came and went and the top 5 was next. The cameras flashed the top 5 countries left onto the screens The MCG delegation were holding hands, their flags sitting limply in their hands. The nerves were unbelievable. Aris was shaking , her team were smiling but she was finding it hard to do so, until the 4th placed county was called. Whispers went around the Malta Comino Gozoan delegation as someone had worked out that maybe JUST maybe they couldn't be caught. Nerves quickly turned to excitement as Aris excitedly wiggled about tapping her fingers in anticipation. It was them and Normandy and Picardly left. The tension at home and in the arena was boiling.

Suddenly it was over! "The winner is, Malta Comino Gozo!" The cameras jumped onto Aris and her team. Her team left up out their seats ecstatically with their flags and danced about waving them about. Aris sat there looking left and right unbale to process what had happened when suddenly it hit her! She leapt out of her seat and was smothered by her team and kisses and hugs were shared. Back home, hundreds of thousands who had been watching were on their feet. Scenes of delight and happiness were shared in living rooms all up and down the country, as people screamed and cried with pride at Malta Comino Gozo being declared the winner of Worldvision 84! The fans in the arena went wild. The crowd was lit up with fireworks and they all cheered and danced together, ecstatic for their first WorldVision win. "MCG! MCG!" chants echoed through the arena! Aris and her team make their way to the stage and she is presented the trophy. Aris lifts the glass trophy up crying with tears of joy, hardly able to comprehend what she had done. The camera focusing solely on her face capturing her emotions. She is crying with happiness. Confetti is pouring around her. "Thank you all so much! I am so honoured! I cant believe it!" she screams!

Thousands back home took to the streets to party. Scenes of victory and celebration were seen up and down the country as people of all ages took to the streets to light fireworks, and party. People stuck in their cars honked their horns proudly as horns and firework blasts could be heard across the country. Church bells in some villages were rang in a lovely display of joy. It was safe to say this would go on for many days. The win dominated local headlines and the economy was staid to have shrunk slightly for the coming days, as many people didn't bother to show for work. No one cared! This was a time to celebrate. National celebrations took place for the following week. Aris and her team flew home on a private jet as the plane landed MCG flags were attached to the pilot windows and the plane was escorted via fanfare to its gate where they were greeted by hoards of cheering screaming people. Flags were waved in every direction as the team sign autographs and posed for pictures with local and the national and international media.

As was the case, MCG 1 would again pick the countries act internally. Nathan Aperitvo had been in their sights for a while now, an impressive young man with a credible background and history in music and a man who had already worked with them appearing as spokesperson on behalf of MCG. MCG 1 approached Nathan and his management team not long after Worldivison 84. Nathan was very keen. This would be a huge leap for his career on the international stage. With MCG 1 bidding to host what more could he want then performing on home soil for his country. Nathan happily agreed. As Valletta was declared he felt even more humbled to be selected.

Nathan Aperitvo is a Malta Comino Gozoan singer and songwriter, with a folk/acoustic genre background. He was born in Santa Lucija Malta Comino Gozo in June 1993. He launched his career in music in 2011 and moved to North Alezia in 2014 for seven months to further his music career as well as his studies in sound engineering and then onto Corola, The Achaean Rep for four months. He has moved back to Malta Comino Gozo. Since then, he has been working on several fields in the professional audio industry, as sales in audio shops, P.A., dubbing, acoustic design, music production, music arrangement and specially, recording and mixing, with a wide list of national and international artist and producers, in his jobs studio.

Before his music career and studies in sound engineering he studied 3 years of piano and pop guitar. Nathan has had two number one hits already. Infinite and No pain no gain. Both songs reached the top of the local charts and secured him the title of 'Malta Comino Gozo's best newcomer 2013. The tracks, “No pain no gain,” and, “Moon Baby” landed in film trailers worldwide such as, Stefan Spelbergs: Space Man and also major television shows like, Realness and the Shame World.
Nathan won the Producer of the Year award at the Gozo Traditional Music Awards 2018. He is currently highly sought after in the Malta Comino Gozoan music scene. He works closely with local musicians, producers and arrangers.

Nathan is a keen busker and is often seen on the streets of Malta Comino Gozo performing in front of large crowds of tourists and or fans. He is very quiet, well natured optimistic young man and has not let his fame get to his head. He quietly gets on with his daily life mostly undisturbed by the locals.

"I’ve always loved music, and I’ve always loved sound. Just a few months old, I started drumming the hell out of my mum's kitchen cupboard." Nathan told MCG1."At the age of six, I invited my friends to record imaginary radio programmes on my cassette recorder. Simultaneously, I took my first piano lesson, adding more and more instruments to my portfolio further down the road. As a teen, I took my band's first audio interface home to figure it out, as nobody wanted to read the manual. Turning eighteen, I realized I wanted my productions to sound like those of my heroes.
This was when I decided to go professional in music and audio to help other musicians achieve the best quality possible with their own recordings.'"

Fire is the countries first entry sung in just Maltese. "I had the title Fire for a while," Nathan says. "I really wanted to write a song about what the word 'Fire' means. Fire can be a healer or destructive force. Fire symbolizes many things, including passion, desire, resurrection, eternity, destruction, hope, hell and purification. If you think about it in the general sense you can define it, but what it means to each individual person is drastically different. So I made the song extremely personal, more personal than I’d written in a long time."

Valletta

Along with the rest of the delegations Nathan would stay in one of the high end Hotels in the city, they would stay in the Lukanda Valletta. Nathan dragged himself out of bed at 8:30am. He opened the fancy curtains The light flooded in, bathing him in its warm golds, revealing to him the colours it had brought to the world beyond his window pane. Through his bedroom window comes the brightness of the day shine, that boldness that lifts spirits. The chorus of the birds drifts in as steady ocean waves, only their melody is dancing. In a moment the tune can fly so high and resettle, an auditory version of how they play upon wing. He moves toward it, feeling the light reach his skin and his eyes adjust to its brilliance. He reaches out his hand and leans on the white gloss frame, noticing the subtle pattern on the glass of raindrops that came and dried.

The City of Valletta was built on a steep hillside sloping away gently towards the sea, with shops and restaurants, houses and apartments all piled up on top of each other with a series of interlocking alleyways and a single narrow street zigzagging all the way down to the horseshoe bay below. There were people everywhere. The holiday season was drawing to a close, but the place was still crowded with people determined to enjoy what the summer had to offer right to the end. In his view were all the newest attractions including Malta Comino Gozo's new parliament building built in 2016. The building was new. It looked like it had been finished last week. It looked almost too new in some strange way. It was as if it had rolled off a production line, but they had forgotten to apply the mandatory layer of colour to it. The windows were huge and seemingly inspired by something truly alien. Anyone could see into the parliament. The outside was adorned with flags which gently moved in the morning breeze. Behind it lay the countless steel and glass and limestone blocks of shops offices and hotels separated by the majestic plaza in the centre. This plaza housed the beautiful marble column of the founder of Valletta. The column was relatively new as was this entire district but its rustic appearance made it look older than the surrounding modern architecture. In this light the roof-tops spread in every direction like sandy serpents with rectangular scales. Only the aerials ruined the illusion. From here he could see what a maze this great city was, every house three stories and each joined to the next. The streets curved as if laid down on a whim a few centuries ago before being built in a grid pattern. He smirked, up here he was the king of the world, untouchable. Nathan got dressed in his light blue t shirt and cream chino shorts sunglasses perched on the top of his head. Nathan was very finicky when choosing his clothes, and made his way downstairs lobby to meet the HoD ready to start his day.

Image

He had been starting a routine with a cappuccino at Café Cuba at Valletta Bay. If anyone is looking for a feel good therapy, then it’s here. With the sun blasting down, at half 9 he knew it was going to be a hot day! Nathan's tanned skin was accustomed to this heat, he was a Malta Comino Gozoan after all. He strolled along the busy seafront. He was a confident young man and he had the kind of face that stopped you in your tracks. Nathan was used to that, the sudden pause in a person's natural expression when they looked his way followed by overcompensating with a nonchalant gaze and a weak smile. Of course the blush that accompanied it was a dead give-away. It didn't help that he was so modest with it, it made the girls fall for him all the more. Despite all the opportunity that came his way he was a one woman man who prized genuineness and thoughtful conversation above lipstick and high-heels. He was handsome alright, but inside he was beautiful. Nathan Aperitivo was a strong young man whose muscular definition had slightly worn off due to his lack of training recently as he had focused more on WV, but his blue dress shirt still clung tightly to his skin, showing everyone that he was still in the game with his strong arms, bold thighs and calves, a firm chest and abdomen. His long fingers ran through his short and wavy brown hair which shifted back into place once his hand had gone past. The suns light made it shine to a shade of melting milk chocolate and his slightly tanned skin glowed, making his stubble covered chin seem darker.

He had the day to explore the city with his team as well as patriciate in some of the activities lined up in the Worldvision to do guide. Each delegation would patriciate in activities not only in Valletta but across the whole islands. As a native, Nathan had done many of these various activities before, but as an athletic young lad this did not stop him.

His first port of call was the fishing trips in Swatar Bay a 20 min drive from central Valletta. He and his HoD got into their privately hired car that would drive them about for the rest of the day. Swatar Bay was a newly built town along the glistening shores housing many of the countries offices and high rises as well as 5* Hotels and tourist resorts. The central main road was lined with the deep green foliage that stood still in the heat of the day.

Swatar Bay was widely famous for its unspoilt golden sands. The team made their way to the fishing pier and boarded their boat. Behind the sand was an endless concrete jungle of apartments and hotels stretching as far as the eye could see. The beach was nearly almost obscured by holiday goers in their multicoloured shorts and bikinis diving and sunbathing. The harbour is typical of the region, shallow shore with waters utterly clear. The boat made its way into the calm waters of the bay. The boat was a fancy speedboat. The team of 7 were the only people onboard this private boat tour. The waters were so clear you could see to the sea bed below. You could actually see the starfish, the crabs that scuttled and the shoals of bright fish that darted this way and that. A fine layer of coral littered the sea bed. Nathan loved the sea, as most islanders do. Above the white tipped blue the gulls own the skies. Their wings beat salty air as they approach the fishing boat looking for scraps. Nathan dipped his hand into the cool waters and bathed his forehead. The heat becoming more intense. After an hour in the sea the boat made its way to shore. Nathan had had a very relaxing time on the waves but was reassured stepping back onto the pier.

He would continue onto the new Shopping Mall now on the outskirts of Valletta. But before that they would stop by the Valletta Old town to greet fans and talk to international media about the contest. Valletta Old Town was world famous. The sixteenth century limestone architecture of Valletta is enriched with Mannerist and Neoclassical elements. The long but quite steep streets are often crowded with tourists. The buildings and Cathedrals look particularly good after the rain, when everything shines in the sun. The amazingly colourful wooden balconies add unique charm to the streets of Valletta. The cities ancient walls , moat and impressive gates well kept over the years walled the city in against the outside world. It was like stepping back in time. Cars were rarely driven into the city itself. Nathan signed many autographs for his international fan base and afterwards made his way with his team to the Shopping Mall.

The Skyland Shopping mall was huge and impressive. The ceiling was domed higher than most cathedrals and made of the most beautiful glass. The walkways flowed like tributaries to the main rivers of people, not a sharp angle to be seen. It smelt like heaven in a hand basket and the floor shines like the surface of a lake at sunrise. In the background is music to soothe, gentle flowing notes to take the shopper's cares far away. Nathan loved shopping. He loved the perfumed, air conditioned mall. He basked in the attention of the sales staff and pawed over different fabrics and textures. He would try on new boots and shoes get a free make-over and then head to sports shop before heading to the Electronic Centre to browse over the latest phones and headphones. Nathan loved tech.

For dinner well, Nathan started off with the most amazing pizza. It was like fresh salad on top of pizza bread. Think arugula, Italian cured meat, mozzarella do Bufala, and tomatoes. Loads of cheese. After, dessert and that was at Figo Italian Artisan Gelateria in Santa Lucija. Nathan and his team would then head back to Lukanda Valletta for the night. The next few days would involved many interviews, press conferences as well as lots of leisure time for him to go about his daily routine, since he was on home turf.

Parade Of Nations

As the parade music played, Nathans's grew got wider, wider until he thought it would split his face in two. The more the bodies backstage pulsed around him, the more his eyes became electric and his hands became a frenzy of action. He didn't just hear the tunes, he fed on their vibes. Nathan patiently waited his turn to strut out onto the stage. As host nation he had to go out last. Nathan wasn't normally a nervous young man, but this wait seemed forever. He watched and happily nodded at each act as the passed by. "Nathan you're up." A voice suddenly said from behind. He smoothed down his shirt and paraded out. "Malta Comino Gozo!" Was boomed overhead by the voiceover as Nathan proudly walked out on the stage. A brilliant flash of light lit him up as he did, his flag proudly displayed on the LED screen behind him. His collar played about his neck in the warm air of the arena, the fabric was close enough to show the shape of his chest. His chiselled jaw lifted with a proud, pleasant smile. His eyes a sparkling brown. His hair was lazily ruffled, and was haphazardly pushed into a beautiful chaos. He wore the same outfit as the band picture, a off white top and long black cardigan which stretched down to his thighs and tight black jeans and black boots. A silver dog tag sat proudly around his neck. Nathan walked out, his band followed behind him waving. He stood still in the centre of the stage and soaked up the cheers. It was extremely loud. A strong proportion of the crowd obviously locals, that let our a huge happy roar it was very touching and Nathan softly bowed. His eyes watering. Spotlights zoomed around the audience and phone lights flashed and flags waved aggressively. This was phenomenal.

Performance

The postcard plays and Nathan walks onto stage with his band, The energy of the home crowd filled Nathan with more energy than the fading sun above. The spotlights come on all at once, brilliant, near blinding. As the white light falls on his skin it's as though a thousand volts just got tapped right to his spine. For the next few minutes he is a fireball, his fans screaming for more heat, more of the kick ass energy they know will flow through his voice. Nathan is positioned in the centre of the stage nearest the LED screen, his band scattered behind in. Two backing singers both on his left, and a guitarist and drummer to his right. The drummer is elevated slightly by a podium. They are all dressed like the photo above in black jackets and white tshirts with black jeans and black shoes. The postcard ends and the arena turns black as the following text appears on screen in white letters, being blown in like ash caught in the wind.

"Fire gives us two paths
Burn out with the flames
Or build up from the ashes"

The letters blow away of screen and then the first note sounds. The camera is black and white and gritty with specs of white darting around like dust. The arena and LED are black apart from mobile phone torches. The camera is centered on the stage, 5 shadowy figures can be seen. The camera approaches Nathan as the opening bars play before reaching him in time for him to begin . As the beat kicks in a steady flame engulfs the impressive black LED screen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkaGgpwqG6s and the camera dramatically switches to Nathan's left side close up. The smoke on stage behind Nathan isn't completely opaque, but its long grey wisps seemed to curl with others that were much darker, some near black. These stretching entities would show themselves in short, dramatic eclipses, which hid again the screen in full smoulder. The camera filter slowly disappears. He sings down the lens of the left camera, his face was stern, even a little melancholy, in repose mixed with anguish and gloom. The fire can be seen dancing around on the screen behind him the way he is angled facing the left, a glimmer of the bright LED screen can be seen flickering in his watery eyes. The glowing embers on the LED leaped and twirled in a fiery dance, twinkling like stars in the hot swirling air before cascading to earth like gleeful fire fiends, setting alight the tinder dry forest.

Nara l-fjammi tan-nar irrabjat
I watch the flames of the enraged fire

Il-mostru tal-aħmar, oranġjo, u isfar
The monster of red, orange and yellow

The camera cuts to the backing singers who are hidden by shadow only their silhouettes showing. Their backs lit by the fire on screen. They sing a "Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh" which echoes through the arena.
The camera flicks back this time to Nathan's right hand side and again he sings down the camera. His brain tingled like a hand that's been sat on for too long. A smirk was playing at the corner of his lips.

Fgar għalija għal żmien twil wisq
Choking me for too long

Issa qed nerġa 'nqum fuq saqajja
Now I'm back up on my feet

The fire on the screen starts to grow and spread, becoming fiercer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsmWNaQWsuUThe camera cuts to the backing singers who sing the "Ohs" again. Nathan swings to his left on the spot, he's looking down the camera lens with a piercing glaze almost evil like, the smirk still on his face. He moves his hands up the stand as he sings. The fire suddenly dissipates to black, the spotlights dramatically flash to the beat in the background around the arena lightning the audience like lightning flashes.

The camera pulls out showing the entire stage. Flames on the LED screen shoot up in a huge plume as Nathan begins to sing the chorus, bathing the whole stage and the the audience in the inner fan zone in a impressively bright red and yellow light adding to the intensity of the backing beats. Red yellow and orange spotlights charge around the audience. The backing singers can be heard supporting him. The camera cuts are fast and cuts to various angles aggressively, frontal, far, and from the audience. As he sings "I was born in Fire" Nathan stretches his right hand out towards the on stage camera as its pans 180 degrees around him. And then again the opposite way for the next line.

Inemnem, iljun jgħajjat, ħruq
Smouldering, roaring, burning down

Ħerqana li nħarqu r-rabtiet kollha tagħna
Eager to burn down all our ties

Jien twelidt fin-Nar!
I was born in Fire

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar!
I was forged with Fire

The LED floor under Nathan starts glowing like fire spreading from underneath his mic stand as he starts to sing. He sings down the camera lens shaking his head slightly side to side as he sings "Mess with me.." The camera cuts to a onstage view as he sings the last two lines, the camera is shaky. The fire on the LED screen swirls and sparks and thrives before centralising in the middle of the screen before suddenly petering out at the end of the chorus like it had run out of fuel. The spotlights whirling around stop before the lights fade to a dirty orange before the on stage camera fades to black as Nathan clutches the mic and looks over his shoulder and shut his eyes as it cuts to the second verse, as fire jets shoot quickly out of the edges of the stage to the instrumental fade, before the next verse, illuminating him amazingly.

Tahwida miegħi, l-infern se jogħla
Mess with me, hell will rise

Ma nistax nisma ’x-xrar permezz tal-għajjat
Can't hear the sparks through the cries

Jien twelidt fin-Nar!
I was born in Fire!

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar!
I was forged with Fire!

Nathan is animated again and takes the mic out of the mic stand and starts to make his way forward slowly with confidence towards to the frontal part of the prism stage. The LED background remains dark but twists and lightens to a dark blue every so often. This time around the lights around the arena turn to a dark blue with brilliant flashes of white illuminating the arena magnifenctly. The backing singers can be heard again singing the "Oh" parts. The camera is a body shot which pans backwards as he strides out step by step one foot at a time until by the end of the verse he's now in the central part of the frontal stage. Flag adorn the fan zone within the stage. He taps his head as he sings "No pity in its mind" residual smoke hangs in the air around him. The LED floor then turns to a burnt out forest floor as the cameras switches to a view from above. (See 1:33 to 1:41 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXRxUpJo7rE&t=93s A ghastly orange grin, tearing through the verdant woodland. Unfettered flames, devouring hungrily, licking and lapping at the trees, twisting and swaying in a dance. Nathan wanted to highlight the issues of climate change in a subtle way within his song as he was a keen "Green" guy and did his bit to make sure he recycled, and promoted green living with Malta Comino Gozo. His country was powered a quarter by renewable power sources and was turning away from oil. As he sings "Ash floating to the ground like flakes" powdered ash starts falling to the ground around him and he stretches out a hand and catches some in his palm. He stares intently at it, the ash then stops falling. A few have landed in his hair and on his shoulders. He looks like he has walked out of a burning building. We then catch a glimpse of the drummer an guitarist the camera cutting to them both respectively for a few seconds each. They have a fierce look on concentration on their faces.

Dan in-nar m'għandux kultura,
This fire has no culture,

L-ebda ħasra f’moħħha
No pity in its mind

Iva
Yeah

Irmied li jżomm f'wiċċ l-art bħal qxur
Ash floating to the ground like flakes

Li jinħaraq kollox fi triqtu
Scorching everything in its wake

The LED floor fades to black. Each line he sings of the pre chorus cuts to a different camera angle, one from he back of the arena one on Nathan's left, one on his right before a frontal facial shot for the last line. As he sings the last lines of the the spotlights dramatically flash to the beat in the background around the arena lighting the audience like lightning flashes. Nathan has a look of aggression on his face.

Dan l-uġigħ

A fire transition camera cut, over the live broadcast is shown to the viewers at home and then fire jets shoot up from the edges of the stage suddenly bathing the audience in a bright glow, audible cheers are heard as the fire catches them off guard. The fire flashed into existence again on the screens in a wash of red and yellow sparks. Like the beauty of running water so unearthly. Yet it has a dangerous beauty. They fire leaping up, picking up speed like a river does tributaries. The fire held its head up regally and proudly as its destruction spread while glowering at the surroundings as if daring them to challenge its awesome power. The backing singers can be heard supporting him. The camera slowly moves out backwards and slightly upwards like a plane taking off away from him, showing more and more of the extraordinary stage as it does. More and more of the audience comes into view. They are bathed in a fiery light. Flags can be seen waving as well as mobile lights. As he sings "Jien twelidt fin-Nar""I was born in Fire" Nathan bends down slowly with the mic in his left hand and right hand out, palm down stretched out in front of him low to the ground he moves it in a 180 angle right to left in front of him, as he does a streak of fire plays out in the same motion on the LED floor, he does the same again the opposite way for the last line. The fire pyro's get stronger every time he sings "Nar"-"Fire".

Inemnem, iljun jgħajjat, ħruq
Smouldering, roaring, burning down

Ħerqana li taħraq il-gideb kollu tiegħek
Eager to burn down all your lies

Jien twelidt fin-Nar
I was born in Fire

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar
I was forged with Fire

If you look closer, you could see the perfected mask of pretence crumbling down and raw emotions taking over him. The emotion of the song was getting to him now. Nathan is now crouching to the ground towards the right side fan zone as the camera cuts to him. He points a finger out towards the camera before jumping back to his feet and walking to the left as fire shoots around the edges of the stage again the camera pulling out before cutting to a facial shot for the last line.

Tahwida miegħi, l-infern se jogħla
Mess with me, hell will rise

Ma nistax nisma ’x-xrar permezz tal-għajjat
Can't hear the sparks through the cries

Jien twelidt fin-Nar!
I was born in Fire!

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar!
I was forged with Fire!

We then have a close up shot slightly off centre of the two backing singers who sing the interlude. The camera stays on them before cutting to Nathan who is walking to the centre of the stage as he raises a arm triumphantly upwards as he sings "Iswed oħxon, sħab, jogħlew"- "Thick black, clouds, rise" over the backing singers it then cuts back to the two backing singers who finish of the interlude. The lights suddenly plunge into darkness as we get a quick shot of the drummer lit up by dim flashing lights. The camera then cuts to a high camera view of the stage as lights spotted around the stage flash a brilliant white. The light flashes don't light the centre of the stage where Nathan is and he remains hidden.

Iswed oħxon, sħab, jogħlew
Thick black, clouds, rise

Iswed oħxon
Thick black

Iswed oħxon, sħab, jogħlew
Thick black, clouds, rise

Iswed oħxon
Thick black

The camera fades onto a shot of Nathans face, he's now kneeling on one knee and slouched over. The lights get brighter with the beat of the drums lighting him as the flash. He's looking down at the floor and as he sings he turns to the camera slowly a menacing but cheeky grin on his face. He then bashes his fist against the stage floor as he sings "Fjammi!"-"Flames!"

Jien infern ikkunsmat fi, fil-fjammi
I'm an inferno consumed in, in flames

Ikkunsmat fi
Consumed in

Fjammi!
Flames!

Suddenly the camera cuts to a view pulling away outwards showing the whole stage as a ring of fire exploded into the blackness as flames erupts around Nathan encasing him in a cage of fire (at a safe distance) as he springs back up to his feet. The flames pyro now circling him in a tall fiery cell. They shoot spectacularly into the air, enough to light the whole stage and surrounding audience in a brilliant warm light. A huge LED fire plays out on the LED background showing everyone on the stage, the backing singers have left their posts and are now walking slowly towards Nathan. Orange spotlights race around the arena. He runs to the left of the flames, the camera cutting to a stage left, his hand shielding his face his palm facing towards the menacing flames, realising he cant get through he runs to the right, a look of fear on his face. He looked frightened and there was the glisten of a cold sweat, his eyed widened. The camera cuts to a stage right, his hand again covering his face, he is trapped. The onstage camera now is a shot of the centre. The camera looks deceivingly close, it isn't otherwise it would melt but to the viewers it looks like its going to be enveloped in flame. Has he been consumed in flames!?

Eager to burn down all your lies

Jien twelidt fin-Nar

The fire ring now slowly starts to flicker down through the chorus as Nathan belts out the last few lines. The fire ring has disappeared before the post chorus begins. It's replaced by plumes of fire which shoot up to the beat on the edges of the stage instead. As if a miracle has occurred Nathan realises his fiery jail is gone. A look of fearlessness is expressed across his face as he has made it out of the fire alive unscathed. He has conquered the flames.

Tahwida miegħi, l-infern se jogħla
Mess with me, hell will rise

Can't hear the sparks through the cries

Jien twelidt fin-Nar!

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar!
I was forged with Fire!

Thick plumes of white smoke and fire shoot out powerfully around the stage as the view cuts to a aerial view of the whole stage. The whole LED floor is alive with flame effects. Flames continue to lay out on the background too like a famished beast.

Iswed oħxon, sħab, jogħlew
Thick black, clouds, rise

Iswed oħxon
Thick black

Sħana bl-uġigħ taħraq il-gideb tiegħek
Painful heat burns your lies

Il-gideb tiegħek
Your lies

The camera zooms slowly onto Nathans face. The backing singers have made it to him and one either side place a outstretched hand on each of his shoulders as the lights fade, and they are left in shadow. Nathan is singing at the frontal camera before turning away for the last line as the camera fades .

Tahwida miegħi, l-infern se jogħla
Mess with me, hell will rise

Ma nistax nisma ’x-xrar permezz tal-għajjat
Can't hear the sparks through the cries

I was born in Fire!

Ġejt iffalsifikat bin-Nar!
I was forged with Fire!

The home crowd goes wild. A massive cheers envelops the arena. Malta Comino Gozo flags, along with other flags are waved in every direction. The huge crowds applause and cheers is enough to move Nathan. He is unable to speak for a few seconds as he and his ban soak up the crowd. He then speaks "Grazzi Malta Comino Gozo! Grazzi ħafna! He speaks softly into his mic before choking up slightly, his band hugging him. They leave the stage ready for the next entry

ETV1 presents WorldVision 85 - English language commentary by Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart

Image

Image

CE: Welcome to WorldVision 85! Bienvenido a WorldVision 85! Yalcom WorldVision 85! Live from Valletta.
FT: Again.
CE: I'm Cerin Erali...
FT: ... And I'm Flynn Taggart.
CE: And we are your English language commentators for this evening. For a Spanish commentary, Iyilim language commentary or to sing-along to each entry, please press the red button. Thank you. Para Español, Iyilim o karaoke, pulse botón rojo por favor. Gracias. Aspenol, Iyilim o cereoc - Ancelis o Aspenol, ne Iyilim - plaes toc rad boton. Fenci.
FT: Televoting works the same way it always does. Ring in, text or use the app to vote for your favourite song. Instructions will be clearer when we get there.
CE: But you can't vote for #20, as that's us! As nice as it would be to vote for your own nation, it sadly will not count.
FT: I think that's everything. Another short intro.
CE: I know, maybe we should pad this out a bit more.
FT: Maybe we shouldn't.

Opening Act

CE: So, after a recap of the last contest where the host showed all their twelve pointses and their televote results, we get our intro video. Remember last time when we got the sights and sounds of Malta Comino Gozo set to a beautiful orchestral soundtrack?
FT: I do, yes.
CE: We get the first bit again but not really the second.
FT: We get an earache instead.
CE: A bit but I still enjoyed it.
FT: At least there's that.
CE: And it helps se-gooey -
FT: Segue.
CE: Segue, fenci Fleen. It helps segue us into the opening DJ act. And another banger from them!
FT: It certainly feels like it's banging against my head.
CE: Don't be so negative. It's not that bad!
FT: (after a couple of seconds of silence) I guess you're right, I've heard worse electronic dance music from this contest.
CE: Speaking of EDM, we get more of it for the parade of nations! And it's another good dance tune as well. All dark and mysterious and yet so danceable and catchy.
FT: And it shows the audience different ways of saying "Hello" and "Welcome", which could be educational.
CE: That it does. Such as "Wilkom" is how people from Nightom say "Welcome".
FT: And *short sigh* how "butaydi'ek" is how the Zamboodlese say "Hello".
CE: The hosts don't appear at the very end, which is kind of fitting. And very polite.
FT: And then we get the hosts.
CE: The lovely Ira Lesco and the just-as-lovely Bradley Manner. Manar. That was a slip of the tongue, by the way!
FT: I'll take your word for it.
CE: And they're just giving a usual short speech introducing themselves to the contest, saying how they're collaborating with NTR for the contest, how excited they are. All very common stuff. And we're just as ready as they are to give you our thoughts on each entry.

(for the record I actually quite liked the music used throughout the entire opening act, the bit at the beginning is just Flynn being his usual grumpy self.)

01 - Mister X

FT: Mister X starting with even more of this electronic dance music.
CE: It's a bit chaotic and all over the place but I still found it enjoyable. Probably won't do super well but I could imagine a few countries giving this a high amount.

02 - Missus X

FT: This sounds like it should be appealing to me but it doesn't. So many things going wrong.
CE: And I feel like I should be enjoying this too but I can't. Next one.

03 - Polkopia

FT: Is everything going to be electronic dance music or similar tonight?
CE: Maybe. But this is actually quite good. Really good, even. I can definitely see this being a favourite.
FT: At least it's better than their last entry.

04 - South Alezia

CE: It's decent.
FT: It's more of the same.

05 - Beepee

FT: Nice to finally have a bit of change.
CE: I didn't mind the last few tracks but you do you, Fleen. Anyhoo, Beepee! It's like a big musical number, really. I can't find anything to complain about!
FT: Nor can I, it's good.

06 - Ertzei Kishim

FT: So much autotune.
CE: Not that much autotune. And even so it doesn't take away what could be a sleek little number. Not the best but still a decent score for them.

07 - Talvezout

SADLY WITHDRAWN

08 - Scotatrova

CE: Scotatrova are quite an underrated country, aren't they?
FT: Not sure if they've sent any should've-been-winners but continue.
CE: I'm just saying because this is really good. Less bland than their last entry. It feels like it'll be a piano ballad but then BAM! Some decent EDM. And her vocals really compliment the tune. I think this'll score quite well.

09 - Nahlcomo

ALSO SADLY WITHDRAWN

10 - Nekoni

CE: I have no idea what this is.
FT: Ska, mostly.
CE: Yes, I guess. But it's still a good listen. Not the best but it's still fun!

11 - Kasanova-Koratica

CE: So we've got a repeat of 82's winner.
FT: It still wasn't that good but whatever, worthy winner.
CE: But even so, this doesn't do it any justice. Just no. Next nation.

12 - Pemecutan

CE: This sounds waaaaay before my time.
FT: This sounds like it would've been a hit early in my career. It's not bad, just dated.

13 - Kalosia

FT: I'd imagine this is like the electronic dance music version of bread and water, right Cerin?
CE: Nnnnnot particularly. It's not going to be anyone's favourite song and her vocals aren't that great but it's still good enough for what it is.

14 - Kyritakia

FT: I can't imagine them getting a Christmas card from the Church of Cary or whatever they're called anytime soon.
CE: Incredibly aggressive and yet incredibly brilliant. I imagine this getting a whole heap of love from a few nations.

15 - North Alezia

CE: It's not bad.
FT: A bit lifeless, though.
CE: A bit. Even at the end when it builds up it feels a bit forced. But it should still get a good amount of points.

16 - Waisnor

FT: This feels like an improvement on Kalosia.
CE: I can see where you're coming from even though I liked Kalosia. This is good too. Sounds very 90s.

17 - Achaean Republic

CE: This song feels like Mason or Jon Navarez or... who's another synthwave artist?
FT: I don't know, not my style.
CE: Nor mine. Either way, it's a great throwback. Nice to see that we and Beepee aren't the only ones who like to dip our toes into up to 40 years ago.

18 - Main Nation Ministry

CE: So, after that intro...
FT: Whatever the hell that was...
CE: We get another good song from the always underrated Main Nation Ministry.
FT: Probably because people don't want to seem like they're supporting a dictatorship?
CE: Maybe. Anyway, the song! Kind of chaotic but she sings it well and the music's not too offputting.

19 - Antahbrantahstan

*absolute silence for about five seconds*
CE: Let's er, let's-let's move on shall we.
FT: That song feels like a fat kid who got into his parents' edibles.

20 - Elejamie

CE: Here's us!
FT: I'm quite fond of Lucía Beltrán's work. I'm technically happy that she's taking part in this.
CE: Here's hoping she does well!

21 - South Batoko

TBA

22 - Malta Comino Gozo

CE: Ooh, Malta Comino Gozo decide to send an all Maltese Cominoan Gozoan entry.
FT: Just Maltese. It sounds like something that would play in an ice hockey video game. Something good to pump you up before you play a virtual match.

23 - Normandy and Picardy

SADLY WITHDRAWN

24 - Spiritual Republic of Caryton

FT: It's what you'd expect from Caryton.
CE: It's not bad, well-sung, but I don't imagine it scoring well.

25 - Amuaplye

CE: This isn't bad.
FT: But?
CE: It feels very generic, you know? Standard bassline, standard four-on-the floor, standard synthy stuff. Probably won't do that well.

26 - Placely Placington

CE: At least it's better than their belchfest from last time?
FT: Still not good.
CE: But it did get a smile from you! Sort of.

27 - Eljida

CE: This is good. Not exactly great but it's still good for what it is. Another decent placing for them?

28 - Todlichebujoku

CE: Is this any better, Fleen?
FT: A little bit. Dubstep aside, it sounds more like something you'd enjoy.
CE: It does, yes. I'd probably play this but I won't really, erm...
FT: Commit it to memory?
CE: Yes, that's it.

29 - Zamboodle

CE: The tune's not bad at least?
FT: I'm starting to think these people are really into this blood thing. It's the only explanation for them singing about it so much.

30 - Ethane

CE: Ooh, this could be good. It's funky, it's smooth, it's well sung. Could do very well.
FT: A bit simple but there's nothing wrong with that.
CE: And, of course, rest in peace to Eddy's friend.

31 - Nightom

CE: A nice bit of synthpop. Well-sung, well-made, what's not to love.

32 - Natanya

FT: This reminds me of something but I can't remember what.
CE: And it sounds like it should've played earlier in the night. Still not a bad song.

Interval act

CE: So, 29 songs later, we come to the break. The voting's started and they'll be calculating all the points soon to see who'll be the lucky winner.
FT: Hooray for them.
CE: Sarcasm, Fleen?
FT: I don't even know, I just wanted to say something that isn't negative.
CE: You shouldn't be negative. It's the interval!
FT: OK, what do we have?
CE: We have a medley of past Malta Comino Gozoan entries, not just from the WorldVision but also from the World Hit Festival. And I must say it's quite good. Got some choice entries in there.
FT: A few moments where it doesn't sound like it goes together but it's not anything that'll take away from the experience.
CE: There we go, there's some positivity! It also leads us into a repeat of Force, the winning song from last time by Aris... Moo-ey? Mooi? How do you pronounce it.
FT: Mooe.
CE: Fenci, Fleen. Aris Mooe.
FT: Quite possibly one of the best winners since... hm, I'd say Kalosia in 78 or Todlichebujoku in 77.
CE: Still just as catchy as ever.
FT: And all of this leads to a description of how the voting works. How the juries cast their votes and how the televoting's random.
CE: Should be fun. Now are you ready?
FT: I'm ready to see us tank.
CE: Don't be negative.

CARY'S STORY
MARTHA MALLARD

In a break from the namesake groups like the Shirleyton Trio and Latanya Anderson, Caryton held a national raffle of 50 prospective musicians. A brief contest was held, and Martha Mallard- a kindergarten teacher from the central city of Abraham- was selected. Her work is a take on a traditional Carytonic epic, sung in a form of a lullaby. Her fellow teachers agreed to pick up instruments and accompany her in this performance.

PERFORMANCE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKbbbcS9AbI

The stage opened to the pit band playing the introduction out of sight. Only one solitary spotlight shone down on Martha wearing the outfit described in the picture. She held a single microphone in her hand, ten cute-looking Carytonic kindergartners in similar overly-modest clothes sat quietly and patiently with enthusiastic smiles on their faces. The teacher gracefully glided to a wooden stool and sat down in a fashion that resembled a curtsy. The only thing behind them were the LED screens which depicted a torched and grey dystopian wasteland, rockets still soaring and silently booming in the sky.

"Away in a dreary land so blue,
A blind madam was starving all day.
A glowing retriever manifested before her-
And instructed her softly to pray."

The screens showed a blind peasant woman in rags collapsed on a dirty sidewalk, heaving next to the ruins of what was a brutalist apartment complex. The camera, focused on her bloodied and mucky face-- caught the reflection of a golden glow cast on the woman's face, and a look of peace coming across her face. The peasant used what seemed to be the last ounce of her strength to fold her hands together and bow her head.

"And her pupils enlarged, and her belly was full-
And saw the sweet canine nod her way!
And her pupils enlarged, and her belly was full-
And saw the angel nod her way!"

The woman's eyes shot open, with a vivid burst of energy and a cleaned face. What was a skeletal frame was now supple, and the lady had what seemed to be 10 years shaved off of her. She looked left, then right, then to the source of the glow. The camera shifted from a body view of the peasant to a golden retriever, with an angelic white and gold aura that caused the lens of the camera to flare up, the white fade-out transitioning to the next scene as the peasant began to sob in joy.

"Away in Alta’s soulless land,
A widower was deep in a mourn,
A glowing retriever manifested before him-
She made his soul truly reborn.

The old man saw his wife, and ev’ryone else!
And the family united again!
The old man saw his wife, and ev’ryone else!
And the family united again!"

An elderly man using a cane is seen crying at a bombed-out cemetery, of which the shards of what were skeletons were hastily dumped back into random graves. Just as he was about to leave, a flash emanated from in front of him. The angelic retriever sat down in front of him, and the man looked captivated. A side-shot of a white pearly heaven is seen, with a whole family hugging him and cherishing each other. By the time the man snapped out of it, the dog was gone.

"Away in an alley that was dark, so dark-
A little boy was chased to a wall!
Alta sent two monsters, who then tried to beat him-
That orphan then began to bawl."

After a quick transition into a dark alley filled with trash, bullet casings, and eroded propaganda posters, an orphan boy of about nine sprints to a brick wall, pressed against it as he fearfully looks at his pursuers-- two evil-looking men in trench coats and peaked caps who wielded batons. The song picks up it's pace and Martha sings with a much more devoted expression on her face as the secret police agents raise their batons and bring them down on the lad, blood splattering across the wall and a tortured child's screams resounding in such a way that would make the audience groan and tense up in a furious mix of emotions.

"So she barked round the way, while the tyrant’s hosts,
They were burned alive by the wrath of God!
So she barked round the way, while the tyrant’s hosts,
They were burned alive by the wrath of God!"

The glowing Cary is depicted heroically sprinting across the corner, a vindictive look in her canine eyes. With one massive bark, the camera goes white, fading back into the scene of the two men being charred and incinerated alive, flopping down on the walls and rolling on the floor as they were scorched by hellfire. Their batons literally melt, and the medals on their uniforms are vaporized. Martha repeats this verse with a justified cultish smile on her face. Cary carries the sniffling orphan out on her back like a horse, and the corpses of the offenders behind them laid not moving but still burning bright.

"Away in a land so torn by war,
The retriever appeared for all to see.
She was giv’n many tests to prove her loyalties best,
And only chose Christian symbols to be.

And she was named Cary, a vessel of Him!
Jesus crowned her to lead us in her love.
And she was named Cary, a vessel of Him!
Jesus crowned her to lead us in her love."

The dog trotted towards a crowd of stunned onlookers, her aura of light glistening angelically. Priests, scientists, witches, and many more representatives nervously laid out various items on a velvety pillow. Cary, with no hesitation, picked up a cross in her mouth and showed it to the crowd, who fell to their knees.

At the next verse, the camera shows a diamond laurel being placed on the retrievers' head, robed ministers bowing their heads as her otherworldly glow reduced to nothing and she looked indistinguishable. The camera zoomed out to see the dog on a throne, the new flag of the Spiritual Republic of Caryton, the thousands of onlookers, and the foreign press looking absolutely stunned by the scene.

After the verse and during the peaceful ending instrumental, the camera zoomed out of the Central Cathedral, the skies rosy and golden in a beautiful sunrise, showing the brutalist buildings of the old regime being torn down and replaced quickly with the beautiful capital city of Georgine. In the last few measures, a young girl in an amish-type dress with a teddy bear is seen staring longingly at a golden statue of Cary some 1000 years later (as dictated by the caption: "Georgine - 3030") with roses still laid down at her memorial. The dog's metal smile fades as the camera looks up to Georgine in the future, the skyscrapers of the post-modern world giving way to the same rosy sunrise of the liberation day.

Man o' War - The End

Tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LR_vzLebdA

Image

Man o' War is a splinter group created by Malcolm Collins and Lee Ryan, the bassist and drummer for the band Love and War. The band was formed in the summer of 2020, after Love and War broke up due to creative differences in late 2019. As a result, the band's 3rd album, Foreign Waters, slated to be released in April of 2020, was scrapped.

The band is known for its softer sound, using pop rock, rap, and pop, and for its centrist political stance, instead of the extreme-leftist viewpoint of Love and War. The band has frequently collaborated with Nicholas Morales, the former lead singer of Love and War.

You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

I remember when we met like yesterday
You were very youthful and innocent back then
And then you took everything that I owned
I was too gullible, I should've left you earlier

I'm finally calling you out for what you've done
I am tired of being walked over by you like a doormat
It's about time I've finally done something and fought back
And that time is right now, so get ready

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

Here comes the tempest I'm bringing on you
A goodbye you can't handle, adieu
A maelstrom you can not control
I'll make you run to your little foxhole

Oh, so you think you will fight back?
Good luck after you're faced with this attack
The fury of a thousand storms
Then followed by a hundred million swarms

You have had a lot of time to prepare for this
But, I guess according to you ignorance is bliss
The rising tides are now approaching your shores
And it will sweep away everything that is yours

Your entire world is now burning
And it is all because of your own yearning
And before you ask, I gave you ample warning

The entire world will almost certainly know about this
And they will all ignore your words almost like there's nothing amiss
The net is now getting closer and closer, surrounding you
But, I'll at least let you off the hook if you leave me alone

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

You are begging for me to forgive you again
You have forgotten what you've done, haven't you?
I have learned my lesson, so I won't do that
I am not doing that, I am not doing that

26 - Placely Placington

Wynan Schitt - Why Did Stacey Break Up With Me? :'(

Tune: Puddle of Mudd - About A Girl (Nirvana cover. Yes, THAT Nirvana cover, as opposed to the much better one they did about 15 years prior)

The last edition in Milano, Besen, turned out to be an unmitigated disaster for Placely Placington. First up, they finished third from last with the song Ek is lief vir jou, an absolutely romantic song with lyrics belched out by Jim the Grindcore Guy Bloke and his backing band of clones playing some groovy something-grind. Secondly, they received no points from the televote, much like South Alezia and Nahlcomo who placed lower. Thirdly, Jim and his backing band had all died during their performance; Jim by being deflated, Guitar Clone by forgetting he needed a head to live after he headbanged so hard it fell off and Drummer Clone randomly exploded for the 159th time that day. And finally the new bridge they made out of potassium in Citysburgh caught on fire because it started to rain; it didn't help matters when Potassium Man tried to save the day and ended up burning the entire city down with a glorious lilac flame. Good thing they've made a Clonomat for buildings!

Fortunately, all was not lost for them. For a start, they received twelve points from the South Alezian jury (who seemed to give it to Placey Placington by mistake and not PlaceLy Placington) and eight points from the Nahlcomon jury, along with a four from Beepee (who also gave it to Placey and not Placely). And they even got a Jester Award from the Fauntenheddo people, which was some small consolation I think. So, rather than send something pitying or rage quitting, they instead decided to carry on as normal and send someone to try and get them more money. The small downside? Chief President Man Dave McDaverson spent all of the budget for an entry on his personal supply and so they had to try and find someone with a bag for life where the handle broke after the first use. And they fished it out of one of their rivers. Something must've also laid eggs in this but what they have no idea.

Enter Wynan Schitt! He's actually competent when it comes to playing an instrument! That must count for something, right? Too bad that as a person not even the incels can stand him and he keeps raising his voice whenever it feels like he's going off-key. In other words, Charlie Puth with a guitar and not a piano. He also brought his own instrument and wrote his own lyrics, though he'll still need to find someone to play alongside him. I'm sure he can find some locals in Valletta. After all, if it works for Elejamie it can work for Placely Placington, right? We're talking about a country where, instead of saying "hello" to people they either attach weights to their parachutes or angrily stare at each other incredibly close up until they form a conversation out of nowhere, of course it's not going to work. At least he found some people at a Valletta bus stop who could actually play their instruments, if only because they'd agree to play if he never did that again.

Postcard ended and everyone was busy settling down to finish cheering for the last act or going for a bathroom break. It may not have been a proper break per se but it is Placely Placington so you might as well go anyway. Once the scarce amount of applause died down, we began to hear the song. And holy shit, it actually sounds good. Not just because of the genuinely talented musicians from Malta Comino Gozo providing some backing guitars, bass and bongos but because Wynan can actually play. Sure he was already starting to tear up but maybe he wanted to show off his sensitive side. And then, 15 seconds in, he opens his mouth. At that point, you realise why this is a Placely Placington entry.

I hate your STUPID FACE
It's true that you're A DISGRACE
That's what I think OF YOU STACE
You then got me IN THIS MACE

At that point, we then cut over to the backing musicians. One of them was rolling his eyes wondering how he ever got into this mace, er... mess. One of them was trying his hardest not to laugh, fortunate enough that the mic was far away not to pick it up unless he laughed really loudly. The other just played his bongos and tried to act professional, hoping he'd get paid at the end of it. Then we cut back to Wynan for the chorus, crying madly as he started to gammon.

SHE COVERED MY SOUL IN SCARS
AND THEN SHE TORCHED MY CAR
WHY DID SHE BREAK MY HEA-ART?!
WHYYYYYEEEE?!
Why me?

We then cut back to the local musicians. The rolling eyes guy was now stifling a laugh, nearly causing him to play a wrong note on his bass. The guy trying not to laugh had a big smile on his face because of how terrible these lyrics are. Bongo Guy was still trying to be professional but was also regretting his life choices. Back to Wynan now, because short break and we needed to hear more of this glorious singing. He also sneezes at the end of the first line but no one notices because the rest of the song's like that, especially when he seems to be crying so hard the backing back can feel the water around their shoes.

I hate your SMELLY HEAD
You treat mE LIkE STALE BREAD
You treat mE LikE I'M DEAD
I don't ThinK moRE NEEDS BE SAID

Back to the local musicians again. The second guitarist got up in the middle of the last verse and the camera's now centred on him laughing in the background, fortunate that none of the mics can pick it up. The bassist then got up and had a chuckle as well as he tried to convince his friend to at least try and finish the song. Bongo Guy, meanwhile, was busy facepalming so he had to play his bongos with one hand. Good thing they had a backing track to mime on. Wynan, however? A literal river of tears was coming out of his eyes, spilling over his guitar and pouring onto the stage. And then pouring down onto the ground below the stage. Just be glad they're not short-circuiting anything.

SHE COVERED MY SOUL IN SCARS
AND THEN SHE TORCHED MY CAR
WHY DID SHE BREAK MY HEA-ART?!
WHYYYYYEEEE?!
Why me?

A second later. both the second guitarist and the bassist sat back down and carried on playing their instrument. Bongo Guy carried on tapping disinterestedly as he looked into the camera, his eyes saying "Help me". Wynan, however, was either oblivious to what his backing band were doing or just simply didn't care, as he carried on strumming away for the instrumental break. At one point, Bongo Guy just stopped and sighed deeply. No money was worth hanging around this bozo for too much longer. The other guitarist was just laughing and grinning while the bassist was looking over at his bandmates to see what they had planned. One more verse to go, lads! Too bad it's a repeat of the first. And they now have to deal with a family of ducks that made it into the lake of tears.

I hate your STUPID FACE
It's true that you're A DISGRACE
That's what I think OF YOU STACE
You then got me IN THIS MACE

Halfway through the last verse, the band just stopped playing their instruments and got up. The camera followed them as they stood in the middle of the stage, looking at each other. Bongo Guy was clearly fed up, the second guitarist could no longer keep a straight face and the bassist was just willing to go with whatever the other two wanted. Though the cameras didn't pick up on what they said, it was clear from their mouth movements what they were going to do. "Bail?"

"Bail."

"Bail."

At that point, the three just abandoned their instruments and walked off the stage, the cameraman following them before we cut back to Wynan finishing his song. He must've been too into his song or too worked up about this supposed Stacey leaving him because he was unaware of what had happened behind him. Or again, he might not have cared. He had literally cried his eyes out, after all.

SHE COVERED MY SOUL IN SCARS
AND THEN SHE TORCHED MY CAR
WHY DID SHE BREAK MY HEA-ART?!
WHY DID SHE BREAK MY HEA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART?!
WHYYYYYEEEE?!
Why meeeeee?
Why meeeeee?
Why meeeeee?
Why meeee?

Fortunately, the song was over after that last part. Wynan put his guitar to the side and stood up, expecting an applause. He didn't get one. He then looked around and discovered his backing band was gone so, rather than say anything to the crowd, he tried to disappear backstage to find them only to slip over and fall off the stage. Next entrant then?

Nadir Doruk
Give Me Your Love

Tune: Luca Hänni - Nie Mehr Allein
Image

The stage is shimmered in a deep shade of blue as the song starts up. The camera focuses on the blue LED screens that are displaying moving swaths of blue as it pans backward. Nadir comes into view of the camera and his eyes lock on it while singing. He isn't alone on stage however, as two background dancers can be seen behind him, a man and a woman. Towards the back of the stage, a table like platform can be seen. Not explicitly hidden, it just sits there on stage. They are on opposite sides of each other behind Nadir, and once the music plays, they begin dancing.

Come with me tonight
You wont regret it at all
Regret it at all

You already know
What’s about to happen
Don’t tell me that you dont
I know you feel it too

The dancers individually find their way to each other by dancing their way around Nadir in front of him. He smiles and takes a step back while the two dance with each other in front of him. Nadir sings while being amused by the spectacle in front of him. The male dancer goes up to the female, who seems rather unnoticing of the male. He keeps dancing which seems to grab her attention, and he holds out his hand to her. As she grabs it, he twirls her around twice. She then takes both his hands and they are now facing each other in a position similar to a waltz. They walk forward two steps and she leans over his arm backward, looking at the camera.

You can not deny
That all this energy
Can’t burn down this place
We can feel the heat

You above and me below, on a fun trip
Together with a dangerous flow
Nothing can stop us
And we don’t want to
Nothing you do can keep me from thinking about you

Nadir continues to sing behind the two dancers, who have taken up hold to the front portion of the stage. Nadir stands center stage and can be seen rocking back and forth to the rhythm and also as if he's dancing with the dancers, despite explicitly being on his own. The two dancers still are the main focal point of attention for the performance however. The camera rarely breaks its shot of them. The stage is still being illuminated in this dark blue, while lighter blues are thrown across the stage from the stagelights.

Come with me tonight
You wont regret it at all
Regret it at all
Stay with me tonight
And I’ll show you many wonders
Show you many wonders

Baby give me your love
Give me your love
We can be what we want if you give me your love
Give me your love

This time the dancers break away from each other and begin to dance on their own. They start doing their own, unique choreographies around six feet apart from each other. As the camera focuses on the male dancer puts his hands out in front of him, calling out to the female dancer. She dances to herself for a second, still looking hesitant. The male dancer's moves keep indicating for the woman to come over to him, but she still doesn't budge. She runs her hands through her hair and shakes her hips as the male dancer looks on, teasing him. Nadir then looks over at the male dancer and makes an expression with his face that indicates that he approach the female dancer, but the dancer grins and shrugs it off.

Can you see my eyes?
Baby they tell the truth
I would never lie to you
You’re a gem to me

I feel my heartbeat
And I can hear yours too
They thump together
Just like you and me

The male dancer rubs his hand across his chest and then puts both hands up. This causes the female dancer to give him a slight look of confusion, but them she smiles at him amusingly while continuing the routine. Its at this point in the performance that the two make their way over to the table toward the back of the stage. The dancers both skip their way over, passing by Nadir who doesn't take too much notice of them as he continues his singing.

You above and me below, on a fun trip
Together with a dangerous flow

Just come with me tonight
You wont regret it at all
Regret it at all
Stay with me tonight
And I’ll show you many wonders
Show you many wonders

When Nadir sings the line "You above and me below, on a fun trip" the male dancer lies down on his back on the table, while the female dancer leans over the table on the opposite side of him. She looks down over him, and her hair falls to the side, slightly obscuring the audiences view of the two. As she lifts her hair back up, the two of them can be seen smiling at one another. The male dancer then gets up as the female dancer walks over. Once again, he lies back down on the table while the female dancer climbs on. He puts his hands on her back while she leans on him, hands across her chest. He lifts her up for a split second, before gently rolling her over. She rolls off the table but landing on her feet, helps him up off the table. The camera switches angle to Nadir singing at the front of the stage. Unlike the rest of the stage, Nadir has a spotlight on him while the dancers dance in a new array of red and orange lights, the blue now fading out.

Baby give me your love
Give me your love
We can be what we want if you give me your love
Give me your love

Everytime I look at you I feel your love
When we’re together there is nothing better
I just can not believe just how strongly I feel about you
It can’t be normal

The stage becomes drowned in the new flurry of orange and red hues. It becomes so intense that aside from Nadir, the two dancers are just two moving silhouettes in certain angles. At this point in the performance, while Nadir is seemingly just singing the lyrics, the male dancer is the one actually expressing them in real time. His movements and gestures to the female dancer perfectly encapsulate the lyric's meaning. The female dancer's movements on the other hand display the receiving end of said lyrics. Their movements play off of one another in perfect sync, held together with Nadir's vocal ability and his expressive energy.

Come with me tonight
You wont regret it at all
Regret it at all
Stay with me tonight
And I’ll show you many wonders
Show you many wonders

Baby give me your love, give me your love
Give me your love, give me your love
We can be what we want if you give me your love
Give me your love, give me your love
Give me your love, give me your love

With the end of the song, the female dancer takes the hand of the male dancer, and together they dance with each other. They move their bodies left to right in sync with one another, both being attuned to the other's motions. Nadir turns around to watch the performers while singing the final chorus. The camera pans to his right slowly as he does so. The male dancer leans the female dancer back over his arm while Nadir sings the final line of the song. He lifts her back up and Nadir turns back out towards the screaming audience. With a smile, he motions for the dancers to come over with him, who stand next to him on both sides while smiling. "Thank you Valleta!"

Soar

Cauniścasis Mieras

S O M E W H E R E E L S E

She turned to him in awe and terror, eyes flitting from supernatural sight to supernatural sight. She tried to back into him, to stand back to back, but her energy meshed into his, providing no shelter for either. With a burst of panic, breath hitching in her incorporeal throat, she tried to speak to him, but such words could not be uttered in this realm. They could only gaze into one another's eyes, exchanging impressions of emotions, in a futile attempt at communication in this tumultuous intersection, as the angels descended on the pair in a vortex of crushed dreams. Were they angels though? Or demons in disguise? It was so hard to tell. The melding point of the heavens and the worlds below were as perfect and as chaotic as could be expected, which meant... the Metsástáyá twins would have to rely on instinct to survive in this nether realm. With a prayer and a spell that just felt right, the two sliced through to a new plane of existence, hoping that this one, at last, could open the door to peace and self-discovery that had eluded them, Shangri-La in a state of mind. With one last glance at the shades and specters rising from below, he slipped into the sliver of light, only a tick or two after her, yet it felt like an eternity.

D E S E R T O F M A L T A C O M I N O G O Z O

K A S O

Her face dissolved into a cacophony of colors in the glow of the desert sun- I felt like I had never known her closer before this day. Palaya turned to me, her scintillating mass of colors turning to what must have been a smile and a nod, but all I could focus on was how slow the world seemed to turn. I breathed in more of the shimmering desert air, letting the essence of the earth speak to me. Palaya and I, we were connected at the root, by blood and by earth, and I let the dry, dry earth breathe through me and whisper its secrets through the soft, raspy wind. What wisdom did this faraway land have to pass on to me? So far from home, yet it was as if it were still the same language. I let myself fall into that comforting bliss, left without a care in the world, only the thud of my heartbeat and the rush of the air around us left to accentuate my thoughts.

P A L A Y A

He lay across from me, eyes vacant and unfocused. For how it felt, it could have been a million miles, lightyears, between us, yet still I knew in my core that we were connected. Why did I feel so surprised at that? Our souls were borne out of one, our lives joined for so long.. maybe it was because this was the first time we were so near, yet so far. My mind sank into a wandering spiral of endless thoughts, set amongst the backdrop of the waving tent flap and the alien landscape beyond, the dazzling light and waves of heat, Kaso's prone body gazing into the world of dreams. A memory of a flavor caressed my tongue. Sharp, and herbal. Was it an aftertaste? or a premonition? The potion had been fragrant, yes, but it was of cedar and incense, not of sage and desert oils. The desert. Perhaps it is coming alive. And I await its warm embrace.

P R E V I O U S L Y

"You sure about this, dude?" Palaya looked quizzically at Kaso as he packed the equipment into his bag, as she nursed a spiced hard cider by her own half-empty backpack.

He paused, with a bit of a contemplative smirk on his face. "No, but we're doing it." He turned back to packing.

Palaya had to roll her eyes at that. "Oh, shut up. Fine. You know I'm going to be on stage and singing soon after this, so we better not get too fucked up doing this, okay?" She knocked back the rest of her drink and sighed, before looking for the next item to cram into her pack. "Don't talk shit about me messing up this performance cuz this is your idea, fuckface."

"Aw don't act like you're innocent, miss fugly, I'm not the one who decided to go on a bar crawl the night before our first big show hmmm? A miracle your voice recovered in time."

"Okay ho we don't talk about that night! But seriously do you think the outworlders will get the song? The way Ansa was talking fucked me up, honestly."

"Pfft I'm sure they will, they have sibling acts too right? I can't believe they'd go around seeing a brother and sister and thinking that they're a couple, no matter what the wackos in Keski shout all day on the crystal."

Palaya snorted at that. "Well even so I think we should put a statement out there? I know we usually don't drop explanations but I think this one does deserve one, ya know. I think it's a special occasion, I'll go draft it up real quick and then we can edit it after. Maybe the trip will give us a little something extra to beef up the statement too."

"Sure sure, go ahead. Can you check the campsite reservation too? It should be one of the out of the way ones, I think I did it right."

"Mmm will do."

Hey all! "Soar" came into being after an experience we had where we somehow shared a nightmare, but were able to find and communicate with one another, and thus find our way out. We realized it was representative of an earlier time in our lives when we were struggling through some hardships in our family life and overdependence on alcohol, where it was only through our shared realization of the direness of our situation that we were able to work ourselves out of that low point.

"Soar" therefore means so much to us. It encapsulates our belief in helping one another through difficult situations, through temptations and pitfalls, to ultimately find a better place to live and prosper. There were many times we each felt like shit, hopeless, and it was only through the support of the other that we were able to eventually claw some way out of the abyss. So as much as we hate to say "Friendship heals everything!!!" we fully realize that the power of a deep personal bond is HUGE in attaining well-being, whether that bond is by blood or otherwise. We hope this song rings true for you, or helps you, in the way it rings true for us.

And thank you for supporting us on our journey, here's to brighter days ahead!

The stage glimmers with a deep blue sheen as the music begins. Palaya stands in the center, facing away from the audience, wrapped in a hooded dress of sheer white fabric that glows in the faint spotlight shining upon her from above. She looks like an ethereal being, surrounded by the darkness. Soft spotlights along the edge of the stage begin to flash in time with the opening notes, accentuating but not taking attention away from Palaya as she begins to sing

Oh...
Fireflies
We live and die
The wind comes rushing back in

The air is chilled around her, as her breath is visible in the spotlighting, against the dark background. She turns away from the camera view which approaches her from the side, refusing to acknowledge its presence. As she does so, she begins to turn toward the audience, offering them a quick glance as her attention is caught by a glimmer of light that shines and rises upward ahead of her. She reaches out toward it, her other hand clutching at the base of her hood as she takes a step forward

Don't defy
That spark of life
A light that we cannot resist
So come, lift the darkness

The glimmering light arcs out and over the audience- Palaya now fully turns toward the front of the stage, spotlights behind her beginning to rise in brightness as they flash sporadically in echo of the music's handclaps. She gazes outward, a hopeful expression on her face, a fragile kind of hope that quivers in silent fear, as the faintest of breezes tosses the stray hairs not tucked within the lightly wrapped hood. As the chorus continues on, the spotlights behind begin to increase in intensity of flashing as well as brightness

A dream we must believe
Your glow becomes my last way out
Don't stop, don't tell me how
Just soar across the thunderclouds

The stage darkens as the wind strengthens, and multiple white laser lights beam across the stage and audience both alone and in arrays, forming various patterns as the drop continues. At certain points, a beam of light like a lightning bolt strikes diagonally across the stage and audience, with accentuating white light bars along the side of the background screens following the progression of notes (rather like a single bar of an equalizer display)

Silent seas
Ink-black waves that call my name
And lure me away

As the spotlights dim back and focus on center stage, Palaya steps toward the projection of the stage, pulling her hood back and letting it rest on her shoulders. Her gaze is cast to the audience members, then toward the camera that arcs ahead of her, almost a pleading look that shifts to a strengthening joy, gazing higher as the camera itself rises up above her

I can't scream
Can't call for help but you rise through the fog
To the stars, rising higher

The wind reappears, this time softly blowing from behind her, lightly tossing her hair but not too much. As a spotlight illuminates her from the front, multiple spotlights cross behind her, backlighting her dress and creating a glowing effect. Her countenance shifts to one of confidence, utter faith in the one she knows will guide her out from struggle, the spotlights behind her slowly beginning to strobe and increasing with the buildup as a close-up of tumultuous thunderclouds fill the background screens

A dream we must believe
Your glow becomes my last way out
Don't stop, don't tell me how
Just soar across the thunderclouds
Thunderclouds
Thunderclouds

Pure electricity arcs up in sync with a flash of sparks, connecting twin sets of devices arrayed along the bottom edge of the stage and the ceiling above, creating a flickering, flashing wall of electricity that soon sputters out but periodically returns, as the lights of the stage and along the sides of the arena flicker and flash to the notes of the drop. Palaya stands with her arms up and out, the folds of the dress draping around her arms and catching the flashes of light from the various spotlights and white lasers as she begins to rise into the air amongst the light and electricity, the camera itself arcing though the bolts of electricity to swing right by and around her, with her eyes occasionally catching the camera's view as she sings once more

Just soar across the thunderclouds
Thunderclouds
Thunderclouds

The electricity fizzles out and the spotlights fade as the white lasers take dominance throughout the volume of the arena, dancing on and around Palaya as she flies over the audience, and only one spotlight remains to illuminate her as the the song fades to an end, in midair over the audience

"Kiitos Valletta!" she shouts as she is being lowered to the ground. "Thank you all so much!" She then is able to leave the stage.

Postby Ethane » Mon Oct 12, 2020 4:39 pm

Ethane | C2H6 | At Your Side | Eddy Lingarde
To the tune of Danny Gokey - New Day.

This song means a lot to Eddy. When he was slightly younger – in his late teens – he was friends with a guy that had serious mental health issues including depression and anxiety. He struggled to know what to do as a friend for him, and so felt like he wasn’t a great friend to him. One day, his friend tragically decided that he’d had enough, with his mental health issues overwhelming him. He passed, and Eddy blamed himself solely. He wasn’t able to ever see past the lack of support he felt he gave his friend. He blamed himself for his friend’s death, despite others telling him otherwise. This song is a message for everyone – we should never neglect our friends, and we should always be there for them no matter what they are going through. This, for Eddy, won’t change what he felt was a mistake of his in the past, despite the fact others have told him it wasn’t his fault at all. But it is a form of healing for Eddy – a way of saying ‘I love you, all of you, and I’m here for you’ to all of his friends and to other people as well. This is an anthem for all those suffering with issues surrounding mental health – talk to someone. Rely on someone you trust who loves you with all their heart. They’ll help you through. They’ll be there for you.

Eddy stands centre-stage, looking towards the audience with a camera directly on his face. He’s smiling, clearly excited to be up on stage, ready to perform. He’s wearing a colourful polo shirt with different patches; all together very vibrant. His trousers are the opposite – they’re almost dull and black. The stage is well-lit, with a variety of colours beaming on to it – vibrant hues of red, yellow, blue, green, pink, purple etc. The music starts and he starts to move and click with the beat. He raises the microphone up to his mouth, ready to sing.

Don’t let them get you down, you’re not a mistake.
It may seem difficult but you’ll find a way.
We’re here for you so don’t ever hesitate.
Don’t worry because it’ll turn out okay.

He starts jumping forward, clearly very active and excited. He’s getting closer to the audience, with the camera closing in on his face.

You’ll go far and high.
We’re at your side.
For you we’ll fight.

He’s really into it as he reaches the front of the peak right out in the audience, his body swaying with the music as he high-fives a couple of fans. The camera does a 360 right round him, exploring his movements. Some of the coloured lights start flashing, leaving a constantly changing colourful array of stage lighting. There are a couple of young backing dancers behind him, dancing in the centre of the stage.

Follow your own path.
We’ll always be by your side.
Look at the sky.
The future, future.
It is yours to take.
This is your life to define.
It’s time to fly.
The future, future.
Follow your own path.

He takes a step back, and the dancers take a step forward so they’re in line with him. They all dance together while Eddy sings.

No way is the wrong way,
Many routes you can take,
Follow your own path.
Be who you want to be,
Because ‘you’ define ‘me’.

Eddy looks straight into the camera and points, showing solidarity.

I know you don’t always feel safe in your skin.
But together we can all stand up and sing.

We’ll go far and high.
We’re at our sides.
For us we’ll fight.

The lights start flashing again. The dancing steps up, and Eddy steps forward again, but this time moving along the front of the stage.

Follow your own path.
We’ll always be by your side.
Look at the sky.
The future, future.
It is yours to take.
This is your life to define.
It’s time to fly.
The future, future.
Follow your own path.

He starts to walk towards the back of the stage, where he stands up against the led screen. Vibrant patterns reflect off him across the screen, with different colours, shapes, and lines making the pattern. The dancers have taken a step back slightly.

No way is the wrong way,
Many routes you can take,
Follow your own path.
Be who you want to be,
Because ‘you’ define ‘me’.
Follow your own path.
We’ll be the light for you.
We’ll help guide you through.
Help you find your way.
Be who you want to be,
Because ‘you’ define ‘me’.

Eddy starts walking forward as he sings the bridge, clicking his fingers and moving in a West Side Story kinda vibe. When he catches up with the dancers who are stationary, they join him.

We won’t ever give up on you,
We won’t ever give up on you,
We will always be there for you, today, and every single day.
We won’t ever give up on you,
We won’t ever give up on you,
Us. 1… 2… 3…

They all gather together in a circle and start dancing together.

Your way. Our way.

Eddy is lifted up by the other dancers around him, and a collection of vibrant colourful lights shine down on him. He rips off his trousers to reveal a colourful pair of trousers on underneath. Unfortunately, a dressing room malfunction means he reveals a little more than he bargained for (underwear) but he ignores it well and carries on with the song.

Follow your own path.
We’ll always be by your side.
Look at the sky.
The future, future.
It is yours to take.
This is your life to define.
It’s time to fly.
The future, future.
Follow your own path.

No way is the wrong way,
Many routes you can take,
Follow your own path.
Be who you want to be,
Because ‘you’ define ‘me’.
Follow your own path.
We’ll be the light for you.
We’ll help guide you through.
Help you find your way. (Your way. Our way.)
Be who you want to be,
Because ‘you’ define ‘me’. (Follow your own path)

He points out towards the audience – and the camera.

We’re at your side.
For all your life.
We’re at your side.
Follow your way.
Look at the sky.
Now you can fly.

“Thank you – oh my gosh. This means a lot to me. Thanks for letting me share this song with you.” He starts crying. “Thank you so so much.” Exit stage.
Esportivan and Proud.

#31 NIGHTOM
Jakob Lundqvist - "Shadows"
Tune : Years & Years - "All For You"
Music: T:Rodden, Ayden Hayes, Jakob Lundqvist // Lyrics: Jakob Lundqvist

Image
Jakob for Nightom: Jakob will represent Nightom at the 85th WorldVision Song Contest after the nation's 10 edition hiatus with pop banger "Shadows"...

Flashback to the 75th WorldVision Song Contest in Kalosia. Nightom performed 34th on the night which was the penultimate performance of the evening. No one really knew how Nightom was going to perform, but then again we don't know whether people actually realised Nightom was competing at the contest. The profile of Nightom isn't as much as neighbouring countries Estogium and Britonisea, but even Estogium struggles against the might of Britonisea at the WorldVision Song Contest and World Hit Festival. That, along with Nightom's sketchy participation meant that Nightom had to come up with something particularly fantastic to repeat what happened at the 55th WorldVision Song Contest - 30 editions ago - when Matinée Schylestreake won with her song, "I Will Not Concede" rather emphatically with Mercedini challenging Nightom's win especially with the last few voters. Though, back on the topic of the 75th WorldVision Song Contest, Nightom was represented by an artist by the name of The Girl Next Door, a stage name she had for whatever reason. The Girl Next Door was given the chance to represent the country at the 75th WorldVision Song Contest due to her failed attempt at going to the WHF and the Nightomese government thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and send her to the WorldVision Song Contest anyway. Nightom was up again stiff competition from a lot of different nations and by the time it reached the halfway period of voting, Nightom was floating around the 21st position stage with only 17 points which looked as though it wasn't going to end well for Nightom in the end. By the time that final nation voted, Nightom floated all the way to 29th position in the scoreboard, hardly picking up any points in the second half. The Nightomese result was the nation's personal worst, but also ABEN's worst result in 34 editions and over 50 songs sent during that period. The reaction from ABEN wasn't particularly in the favour of The Girl Next Door and Nightom and eventually, Nightom seemed to stop caring and withdrew from the WorldVision Song Contest with a future participation from them maybe not ever happening.

Apart from the 4th place in the Semi-Final at the World Hit Festival, Nightom hasn't really had anything to show from themselves and have been rather silent about the WorldVision Song Contest - more silent than usual with most people forgetting that Nightom always participates at editions ending in "5" to commemorate their debut at the contest and their first win. This edition, the sudden withdrawals of Britonisea and Estogium took the limelight for ABEN, but, for at least one of them, their withdrawal was always going to happen to make way for Nightom. It has been said by a few insiders that it was Estogium who withdrew to make way for Nightom whereas Britonisea just withdrew just because they wanted to, but we are sure that an explanation will come from them when and if they return to the WorldVision Song Contest - they're expected to return next edition. Nightom doesn't want to upset avid ABEN fans and so hoped that by sending Jakob Lundqvist to the WorldVision Song Contest, they'd be able to win a few hearts and a few points whilst they're at it!

Jakob Lundqvist is the youngest person that Nightom has sent to the WorldVision Song Contest, though that is not necessarily a hard fact to beat. Jakob is nearing his 20th birthday and wanted to do something like this before he turned 20. Jakob, while he is Nightomese and was born in Nightom, has heritage from neighbouring nation Kalmarlund where he got his surname from as it doesn't sound Nightomese. Jakob had a normal upbringing - nothing too exciting to share. Unlike many other broadcasters that have a call for those who want to represent the nation, Nightom did everything very undercover, scouting people that they thought would represent Nightom at the WorldVision Song Contest. The contest already has a bad reputation in Nightom with everyone except for Matinee who represent Nightom essentially destroying their careers. The same thing is starting to happen to Estogium. Nightom finds Britonisea's (and Estogium's to a certain extent) fascination with the WorldVision Song Contest etc as rather strange though that is because Nightom has never had a grip on the WorldVision Song Contest especially with their recent entries. Jakob regularly posts videos on his Instagram of him singing with his guitar on his account which isn't private and that's how the Nightomese broadcaster was able to follow Jakob up and get him to represent Nightom at the WorldVision Song Contest in Malta Comino Gozo. Before he knew it, he started making his way to the host of the 85th WorldVision Song Contest...

Along with Britonish songwriter who has won the World Hit Festival and has had a string of successful WorldVision Song Contest performances, T:Rodden helped spruced up the song ready for Malta Comino Gozo along with Nightomese producer Ayden Hayes. T:Rodden felt weird not flying the Britonish flag this time with him frequenting the Britonish sofas in the greenroom. However, he thought that hopefully the luck of the Britonish would help propel Nightom towards a WorldVision victory. The three of them along with the RVC officials who needed to come to the contest, the three of them took the journey to Malta Comino Gozo for what was the first time for the Nightomitons. Nightom wasn't really close to Malta Comino so the group of them had to travel by aeroplane after having multiple checks for the virus which they didn't want to be the reason for carrying it to the country. Landing in Malta Comino Gozo International (quite the imaginative name), the delegation was taken from the blustery, wintery conditions of Nightom as it nears the colder months of the year and into a sweet warmth which, while they knew that Malta Comino Gozo was a Mediterranean style climate, gave them a warm surprise, hugging them around the waist as they left the airport. These types of temperatures are temperatures you wouldn't get at Nightom unless it's the peak of summer! While Nightom was not currently experiencing any major waves of the coronavirus, the only thing the Malta Comino Gozoan tourist board said was that if your nation was 20-200 cases per thousand people, you'd have to isolate. With Nightom at the 140 figure, the delegation decided to self isolate and with the growing rate of the virus in ABEN, they decided that even though they took so many tests, they'd isolate anyway and get it over and done with. Going into isolation meant missing out on a lot of things that Malta Comino Gozo had to offer. While the delegation would have loved to explore the likes of Valletta Bay and the Royal Palace, doing things touristy was just not in question or in the budget. The extended stay for isolation was causing KVC to spend more than they wanted to and after the show finishes on the Saturday, Jakob's ticket to go home would be on the Sunday evening. Jakob thought that when the virus calms down, he would love to come back to Malta Comino Gozo which at this point in time was largely unheard of to the Nightomese until the WorldVision Song Contest came swinging about.

After days of training in isolation, the eighth day hit and finally it was freedom for him. He felt fine and had no symptoms of the virus so he just assumed that he was alright. Transporting himself from the hotel room, and no, not the rich bitch ones that was put on their bids - a nice, not too shabby 3 star B&B did the Nightomese good, paying a bit extra for a room where they could do some singing without distrubing the neighbours, they could finally move out from rehearsing in the hotel and onto the huge arena of Malta Comino Gozo, the Fedex Forum. Knowing the relatively small population of Malta Comino Gozo compared to the size of Nightom's 17 million, Jakob didn't know why the nation needed an arena this size; 17,000 people! He was sure that the WorldVision Song Contest would be a big affair in the nation and he was excited to perform in front of a huge crowd of people. Unfortunately there wouldn't be many Abenites in the audience not only due to restrictions but due to Nightom being the only nation to participate. The support in person may not be as rich as it usually is, but Jakob knew that he had enough support from the people around him and that was more than enough to get him through participating here in Malta Comino Gozo for the 85th WorldVision Song Contest.

Jakob was the first Nightomiton to step foot onto the stage for the first time since the 75th WorldVision Song Contest. At the time, Nightom placed in a very low 29th place out of 31 different nations which turned a lot of people off of the contest. However, due to the popularity of the song that they were sending to this edition and due to it being the nation's almost annual participation at the contest, there would be quite a few people watching Jakob on the stage tonight. As he stepped foot onto the stage, he smiled as he looked at the audience - Malta Comino Gozo was coming out in full force for what was their second hosting of the WorldVision Song Contest. Jakob wanted to do much better than however Nightom finished last edition and he thought that he could as close to finishing near Nightom's best position which was achieved at the 55th WorldVision Song Contest - 30 editions ago - when Nightom surprised the world at winning the contest. With Nightom's continued participation perhaps depending on how Nightom did at this contest, Jakob felt a lot of pressure as the postcard for Nightom played to the millions of people that were watching the WorldVision Song Contest. Similarly to his album cover, pictured above, the Nightomiton wore a red leather jacket with his hair looking slightly ragged but not like a raggamuffin. He wore a very low necked shirt with some black jeans and dark red shoes which his cool and edgey leather jacket. Jakob wanted to have fun on the stage as well and in doing so, he spoke to the broadcaster, KVC, about potentially having cool staging and used fellow ABEN competitors, Britonisea and Estogium as an example of how other ABEN nations stage their entries even if for Estogium's case it never seems to make a mark on the scoreboard. KVC thought about how to make the staging affordable and actually worth it.

The stage for the 85th WorldVision Song Contest wasn't too shabby at all and had the usual things needed for a WorldVision stage which included a LED background and good amount of floor space. It was odd seeing so many people packed into one little area on the stage, coming from the nation in ABEN that seems to have been most affected from the COVID pandemic but Malta Comino Gozo apparently doesn't have any cases of the virus - somehow. In terms of what was needed for the performance, KVC decided that a projection would be used for Jakob's performance with, hopefully, some cool effects on the projection which would look nice for the viewer. The projections which were already installed on the Malta Comino Gozoan stage was used, but the detached LED wasn't used with KVC opting for a background specifically designed for projections right upon it in immense colour, similarly to the one shown here in this real life example (Malta 2019) As the postcard finished, it was time for the performance and a wave of shock and anxiety hit Jakob strongly. Though, Jakob didn't have time to calm himself down, with the audience coming in with a huge applause for the 10 edition returnees. Jakob took a deep breath in as the arena went dark ready for the performance. The audience died down before you could hear some sounds from the track vaguely singing "ooo". Jakob was looking down off to the side, with his other arm down, with strands of his hair slightly covering his face. On the projection behind him, it was currently black but would light up as he started singing. With the camera being blurry as the music started and pointing slightly above the Nightomiton, the camera slowly moved itself downwards and into focus as Jakob lifted his head up and started singing. With his free hand, he combed the strands of hair back up to the rest of hair, leaving his hand to rest in that position for a few seconds as he started singing the lyrics to the song.

This ain’t the end.
You think you’re better off dead, that’s what you said.
And all those fears,
They’re winning, they’re taking over your head mmm

You know you gotta break free but
You feel like you’re locked in chains,
(But you're not locked in chains)
Too scared to take a leap of faith ‘case you fell
Why can’t you escape this hell?

The camera as he started singing lingered on his smuldering looks, slowly zooming out to reveal his top half by the time he finished the first two lines of the song which happened rather quickly. As he finished singing the first section of the verse before the music slightly increased in both dynamics and texture, a halo effect appeared above Jakob which, upon an unlit - black - background looked like a beacon in the night sky. Jakob for a split second looked heavenly, a true angel as he sang the lyrics, "they're taking over your head". As we moved onto the section of the song, a projection of chains on either side of his hands appeared on the projection behind him with Jakob acting as though he was bound by the chains which were behind him. There was a camera shot slightly outwards, but not too much to avoid the illusion of him being in a small box not being lost. Jakob continued singing as the camera slightly tilted upwards, exposing the bottom section of the projection screen which KVC brought themselves to the stage. By the time the camera tilted, Jakob had reached the line, "take a leap of faith 'case you fell" the floor suddenly collapsed, similarly to this real life example but from the angle as previously mentioned. Jakob, still chained moved about on the floor as though he was suffering from acrophobia with his head pointed downwards to look at the darkness of the ground beneath him. At the bottom of the ground, it looked as though it was red almost simulating lava which ties in with what he sings next about hell with the projection symbolising the depths of hell.

As Jakob sang a "oh!" to get himself into the chorus of the song, there was a camera shot from around the stage on a track which zoomed past Jakob facing to the front of the audience, zooming into his face and it zoomed further and further away from him. Jakob looked as though he broke away from the chains that was holding him back during the verse and pre-chorus, with the particles of the chains destructing into thin air, exploding on to both the screen behind him and the main LED screens. Jakob strongly stood in the middle of the box, as the lighting made it so that there was a huge shadow which appeared behind him with this more exaggerated on the LED screens behind him which was his silhouette three times. The black outlines of his body stood still and scarily on the screens as the lights in the arena flickered white and a deep orange colour in disharmony, creating a disfunctional, dystopic but eye-catching display on the stage, only helped by a gentle breeze from the fans that KVC decided to chuck into the performance. As he continued singing through the chorus, Jakob seemed wasn't making much movements on the stage - not yet at least. As he got to the sentence, "You think all eyes'll be on you", he pointed out towards the audience, with the shadows behind him all repeating the gesture too as a low angle shot captured this moment so he and the shadows behind him appear much larger and a lot more haunting that how it would be if the cameras were face on. You could see in his face that he was really pushing the words out of his mouth, usually his full vocal range in this song, but of course he didn't want to give everything away, especially before the explosive final chorus that was yet to come...

Stop lurking in the shadows, take a step into the light.
You’ll realise life ain’t against you.
You think all eyes’ll be on you,
I promise most people won’t care,
Stop hiding, come forth from the shadows

Oooooo, oooooo, ooooo this ain’t the end

For the first time that he would go through the chorus of the song, he would be the only say the last sentence once before going back to another verse, which - and you'll understand this when you hear the second chorus - makes this chorus seem very short and end rather suddenly, perhaps prematurely. When Jakob sang the next line of the song, "I promise most people won't care", there was a quick cutaway shot from the side of Jakob with the boy cheekily looking off to the side with a smirk, singing those words as he quirked his head off to the side, shrugging his shoulders as he did this. He then sharply turned back to the front, once again facing the audience before stepping forwards for the next line of the song, with the shadows disappearing and a bright light filling the stage with light. There were then four shots from the furthest point of the arena, quickly zooming into the stage on a dutch tilt as it got closer and closer. The four shots were on beat with the music with one of ABEN's must-dos having the camera shot be synonymous with the music people are hearing. Jakob took a breath sharply as the chorus quickly ended and moved onto the second verse of the song. This time, Jakob turned his whole body off to the side of the audience, no longer singing head-on.

He voice quietened and went slightly raspy as he no longer needed to belt for this part of the song. Jakob became a little more looser on the stage as he had an internal thought within him - was he acting a bit too stiff on the stage? The nerves and fears that he had right before the song were feelings he was too in the moment to think about and was totally going with the flow as he finished singing the chorus and moved onto this verse. The bright white light which had once filled the stage was now gone with darker tones filling the projection screen behind him, cycling through different dark colours as he sang, with the LED screen behind the projection screen almost showing the opposite colours of the ones that was being shown behind him. He no longer had any wind blowing at him either, with everything apart from the colours rotating behind him in the state it was when he first started singing the song. There was a bright strobe light, however, which was flickering on and off along with the beat in the back under Jakob's vocals which was rather constant. As Jakob started singing, "I empathise", he put his hand on his heart before slightly leaning forwards towards the camera. Jakob shook his head as he continued singing the lyrics that he wrote himself, trying to reimagine himself in the situation he was thinking of when he first wrote the lyrics for this song. The audience let of a gentle cheer as Jakob moved from the chorus to the verse. As he sang the lyrics, "You fill yourself", the projections behind him turned blue, symbolising water, with it filling up from the bottom of the projection screen, slowly getting to the top, with Jakob reacting to this, tilting his head up trying not to drown from the water rising higher and higher up his body.

I empathise,
I know how you’re feeling boy, you’re not alone (oooo)
You fill yourself
With these thoughts and none are true, but you still (believe them)

You know you gotta break free but
You feel like you’re locked in chains,
Too scared to take a leap of faith ‘case you fell
Why can’t you escape this hell?

And when Jakob sang the line, "but you still (believe them", the blue water-like projection that was behind him quickly seeped away with Jakob acting out as though he was taking a deep breath after being underwater for a long amount of time. Jakob shot a rye smile at the camera as he ad libbed the end of that section of the chorus before he moved onto what some may call the pre-chorus. As Jakob continued, a steadicam came onto the stage and started circling around Jakob's body, with Jakob spinning around with the man who came onto the stage. For the audience watching at home, they could see Jakob's background changing between the audience with their lights and torches on and whatnot, and the colours of the projection behind them which changed colour each time the steadicam man did a rotation around him. With Jakob spinning and not being able to do the exact movements that he did the first time that he sang the pre-chorus, Jakob was doing certain actions with his hands to show what he meant, especially when he mentioned the words "locked in chains" or "take a leap of faith". The steadicam man quickly scurried off before Jakob neared the end of the pre-chorus with Jakob singing, quickly, "why can't you escape this hell?" once again, with an aerial shot of him looking down into the depths of hell, lava surrounding him with only a 1mx1m platform blocking him from death and life. Jakob looked up to the aerial camera as he started singing the chorus, before placing his foot - rather exaggeratingly - out over the lava beneath him before pretending to stumble and which point the camera quickly changed to another shot with Jakob appearing fine, but the whole projection filling up with a molten orangey red look suggesting that Jakob took that leap of faith.

As he once again sung the first line of the chorus, which is where the title of the song comes from if you haven't figured that out yet, the shadows once again appeared behind him but instead of Jakob being still and the shadows following whatever Jakob was doing on the stage, it seemed as though the shadows were frozen in time, with Jakob swaying from left and right, enjoying the well blended electronic instruments of the song, smiling as he thought he was pretty proud of himself for getting this far into the song and no longer feeling any nerves. There was a LED light from behind him shining white behind him, though because his body was blocking it, one couldn't see the full extent of the light on the camera lens but what people watching the screens or television did notice was a white glow around the outline of his body, which set him apart from the shadows that were behind him as he was singing his song.

Stop lurking in the shadows, take a step into the light.
You’ll realise life ain’t against you.
You think all eyes’ll be on you,
I promise most people won’t care,
Stop hiding, come forth from the shadows

Oooooo, oooooo, ooooo this ain’t the end
Oooooo, oooooo, ooooo this ain’t the end

Throughout the chorus which was slightly longer than the chorus before, he didn't change what he was doing except for singing into the camera in front of him with a slight wind now on him. Jakob was now going into the bridge section of the song but before he went into the bridge, the cameras slightly lost focus and went blurry as the colours dimmed as did the intensity of the light. Jakob slowly lowers himself down onto the ground as the camera which went blurry tilted upwards and faded into another camera, an aerial shot, looking down on Jakob as he cradled himself on the ground with the projections on the floor doing things around him to make it seem like a lot more was going on the stage. As the camera looked down and slowly moved in on Jakob, there were words that appeared around his cradled body such as the word ALONE in multiple different languages in different weird and funky handwriting against a dark background. Jakob wasting looking at the camera as he was cradled; in fact, he wasn't looking at any one with his eyes tightly closed shut. The Nightomiton slowly increased the dynamics at which he was singing as he got closer to the final chorus of the song. He gently rested his head against the floor of the projection wall, repeating the same sentence he had just sung once again. Eventually, we moved onto the second half of the bridge section and as we did, Jakob slowly moved his hands onto the floor of the stage, before lifting himself upwards but in a crouching position, bouncing up and down as the man moved onto this quicker paced section of the song. The backing singers, wherever and whoever they are was singing along with him as Jakob got louder and louder before he broke out into the final chorus of the song...

You think that you're alone,
But you're not on your own, I'll be right here, right here for you
You think that you're alone,
But you're not on your own, I'll be right here, right here for you

Don't worry, no, don't stop, just go
You're fine, I'd know, take a leap of faith

Don't worry, no, don't stop, just go
You're fine, I'd know, so come out of the shadows

Stop lurking in the shadows, take a step into the light.
You’ll realise life ain’t against you.
You think all eyes’ll be on you,
I promise most people won’t care,
Stop hiding, come forth from the shadows

Oooooo, oooooo, ooooo this ain’t the end this ain’t the end this ain’t the end
This ain’t the end
Oooooo, oooooo, ooooo this ain’t the end this ain’t the end this ain’t the end t
This ain’t the end

At the end of the song, some more pyrotechnics shot into the air along with a huge cheer from the Malta Comino Gozoan audience. Jakob smiled so wide you could see his teeth. The young lad jumped into the air with glee before thanking the audience, "Thank you everybody so so so much! I love you all, thank you!" he said before running off the stage. After all the wait, Nightom had finally performed their WorldVision song and it was up to the World to decide whether Nightom was good enough to continue competing at the WorldVision Song Contest or not. KVC were certainly happy with how Jakob performed on the stage and I think the whole of Nightom was pretty pleased with the performance.

Aylexa - "Blénken"
Tune

Image
Aylexa

The camera starts with a fade into some lights shining off to the side, before slowly panning to the centre stage, where Aylexa is stood. Still from a distant, looking-up angle, the lyrics start and Aylexa motions towards the camera from a distance, singing the first verse as camera continues to slowly pan across the front of the golden circle.

A soul shines throughout the night,
A beacon never too far from sight,
As times moves on past me,
Still transfixed, it's all I can see.

As the music speeds up slightly in the pre-chorus, the the camera focuses on a closer, head-on shot of Aylexa, who now sings directly too it, along with some light arm movements to go with the *ah ha ha* refrain

All this time I spent just getting by,
All this time I know now I've got to try.

The camera fades into the chorus, and into a shot from high above the stage, quickly panning back into the audience. The centre stage is surrounded by multiple spotlights that flash in place along with the drum beat of the chorus. On the second line the camera has a low panning shot, just above the audience. For the third, it's focused on Aylexa and her singing into the audience and on the on the forth it pans out from this shot to a somewhat distance shot of the stage as a whole. During the 5th line, the spotlights around the stage subside for some smoke pyrotechnics to take there place, with the plumes of smoke being at their tallest behind Aylexa, where they tower over her, and then gradually getting shorter around the sides to allow a view of the stage. As well as this, in time with the louder drum beats, 3 large, spaced lines of lights flashes into the audience, with each one getting more spaced out and further out. For the final line, everything seems to come to a calm, and the camera cuts to an upper-body shot a Aylexa, who simply sings the final line into camera, turning her head on the last line as the camera moves in the opposite direction

Schicksal Loftugrëff mech lues,
Mäi Liewen fällt bei mengen Féiss,
Awer ech hunn keng Angscht,
Wat wäert sinn, wäert sinn,
An ech ginn weider, An ech ginn weider,
Haalt mäi Kapp héich, ech weess datt ech wäert blénken.

For the second verse, the camera goes through multiple panning shots of the centre stage, now partially covered in a thin layer of smoke. Somewhat more animated this time around, Aylexa follows the camera on many of these pans and in between moves closer to the audience in the golden and circle and sings to them. Similarly, Aylexa is more animated in the pre-chorus, which follows basically the exact same pattern as the first pre-chorus.

Breaking with my simplicity,
Away from banal normality,
A new found hope has gave me the drive,
To change my life and go and thrive.

All this time I spent just getting by,
All this time I know now I've got to try.

The staging for the second chorus repeats basically the same, just, once again, with a more animated and moving Aylexa moving around the stage, and with the addition of Matthew, the backing dancer now, also doing some ballet inspired interpretive dance within the smoke. On the final line the camera does a quick fade from the shot of Aylexa to a wide shot out in the audience, revealing most of the stage to now be covered in mist.

Schicksal Loftugrëff mech lues,
Mäi Liewen fällt bei mengen Féiss,
Awer ech hunn keng Angscht,
Wat wäert sinn, wäert sinn,
An ech ginn weider, An ech ginn weider,
Haalt mäi Kapp héich, ech weess datt ech wäert blénken.

In the mostly instrumental break, the rows of spotlights are permanent, now only flashing off to the drum beat, and the camera changes to different shots of both Aylexa and Matthew within the smoke. During this, multiple coloured "bomb" of smoke go off in the air. For the final two line, the stage darkens and the camera focuses solely on Aylexa, who, looking up at the camera, sings the last two lines softly into it.

An ech ginn weider, An ech ginn weider.

A soul shines throughout the night,
A beacon never too far from sight.

Smiling, Aylexa thanks the Maltan audience and bows and the camera cuts to the hosts.

Fate strikes me slowly,
My life falls at my feet,
But I'm not afraid,
What will be, will be,
And I'll move on, And I'll move on,
Keep my head high, I know I'll shine.

At the end of the last competitive performance for the night, there was a huge cheer around the arena as the logo for the 85th WorldVision Song Contest showed up on the large screen. We were then joined by the hosts of the competition;

Bradley:And after so many amazing performances we have finally reached the end! We have listened to all songs of the 85th WorldVision Song Contest and now it's time for you at home and here in the arena to vote for your favourite song!

Ira: With so many songs to choose from feel free to vote up to 5 times. Voting can be done via the app, online or by phone. Standards message rates apply! So it's our pleasure to say that the vote for the 85th WorldVision Song Contest in Valletta is ready and ...

Ira and Bradley: OPEN!

Confetti shoots into the air above the audience and they cheer widely.

Bradley: "Now please get ready for the interval acts! What? Where did Ira go? Well take it away! MCG MASH UP!"

He gestures backwards as the lights dim and he walks off the stage.

The crowd cheers as the camera fades from black to show Sindria who is stood centre stage with her 4 backing dancers two behind her to the right and two infront on the right. She is holding a microphone in her left hand. She has a smirk on her face. The camera angles in this part switch from various full body and facial shots of Sindria and her backing singers, the background can be seen behind her swirling away. The backing dancers sway where they are stood, lunging up and down sexually, their left hand on their hips their right hand clicking their fingers above their heads to the clicks. https://66.media.tumblr.com/23a7478ecca ... 1_250.gifv When she sings "And love me tightly " she wraps her free hand across her chest, smiling and longing towards the camera whilst doing it before putting it back down to her side.

Perfect lush cute smile
Lips appealing
Come on closer babe
And love me tightly
Squeeze me harder please love me babe
Come on closer to me babe
You're all my heart sees
Hmmmmm

Halfway through the verse the background changes to sweets (candy) falling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1eFUMe9KR0 As the instrumental part kicks in the crane camera pans across across the excited audience waving flags left to right capturing all of the the beautiful stage. Sindira walks to the edge of the stage and crouches down leaning into the screaming crowd in the fan part, the camera is in crowd looking up. She gets back up and struts casually back to the centre. The camera follows. The as she sings "Luscious lips" the spotlight intensify. She gently caresses her lips as she does. As the chorus ends and the instrumental starts steam plumes shoots into the air dramatically around the edges of the stage, the crowd erupts with excitement. The white spotlights swirl around the arena. The LED background is still sweets and the neon lights around the stage pulsate quickly with pink and purple.

My body aches so much whenever I'm next to you
Love me harder boy, come, sink your teeth into
Luscious lips
Luscious lips
A lover's lips tastes like liquorice
This loves increasing sweetheart whenever I'm with you
Luscious lips
Luscious lips
A lover's lips lined with Liquorice
My loves increasing sweetheart whenever I'm next to you

Sindia is smiling with glee. The camera pulls out across the audience. Sindria and her dancers all dance the same choreography in unison like this for the instrumental.
https://66.media.tumblr.com/8b23ef149f4 ... 2_250.gifv

The background switches back to the pink purple background. The camera is a full body shot of Sindria again. She looks playfully into the camera and she runs her hand down her hip. Before it switches to an audience view. The dancers click their fingers again to the clicks before dancing off in all directions before regrouping for the chorus. Sindria stays in the centre bopping softly to the beat. The lights are powerful and bright.

Handsome soldier boy
Whisk me away
Come round and lets play
These adults games
I am your key
Taste these lips
Come on closer to me babe
You're all my heart sees
Hmmmmm
You're all my heart sees
Ohhh Yeah

Sindria walks backwards towards the exit of the stage smiling as Paloma walks out onto the stage to applause and screams. She's wearing a elegant white dress, designed by a local fashion designer. There are subtle black hearts sewed into the fabric that are only visible from a close up on camera. Her blood orange hair is tied up in a bun with a dark grey ribbon. She has a slight shade of red lipstick on and white painted finger nails. A pre recorded Paloma can be heard singing in the mash up before she starts singing live.

Four dark red spotlights whoosh up dramatically from the edge of the side as the beat of the chorus kicks in before disappearing. Lights on the edge of the stage flash some white some red amongst to the beat of the song almost like a heartbeat. The backing singers are illuminated in a cold glow as the raise their arms simultaneously and sing in the background. The home audience who recognise their first home soil song explode into cheers.

You’ll never,
Know how I wanted too just comfort you
You’ll never know how I hurt inside the way you do
It was so hard to watch you suffer in that way
I felt so helpless So I’m begging you please let me stay

The camera then snaps to the right of Paloma as she stretches out her right hand looking fiercely at the camera but quickly snapping to the left as this time she stretches her left hand towards the next camera.

Let me stay, by your side,
Baby please, painful tears you just cant hide
You’ll never,
Know how I wanted too just comfort you
You’ll never know how I hurt inside the way you do

She looks deeply into the front facing camera before gently tilting her head and gaze down to the right so shes looking at the floor. The camera blurs to a pisno being played on the LED. Theres mist on the stage thatstarts to roll away. In the background we can see Paloma still looking at the ground. The camera slowly fades to Paloma. She grabs the microphone with both hands you can tell the emotion is changing. She looks half angered but upset. In the background the LED fades into a black and white almost like a music video of a man sitting on a stall in the middle of the wooden floor in an empty living room. The walls are cracking with wallpaper peeling off and missing, a broken chandelier hangs from the ceiling. The LED zooms to a close up of his face which is staring down at the floor, you can still see his face, hes been crying for hours, his face looks exhausted and a tear is rolling down his left cheek. the camera follows the tear before it drops off. The LED screen fades back to darkness

I don't remember the last time I saw your smile
Before the darkest days swept over you

The LED screen flashes to the man and Paloma running in a field in slow motion, its black and white apart from his shirt which is red and Paloma's red sunhat. They are holding hands, the LED abruptly cuts to a black and white blood puddle on the wooden floor, the puddle is small a blood drop drops into the puddle and the mans shadow can be seen.

You used to be so full of life and charming
Now you're just sat there harming

Anger and sadness can be seen on her face, she keeps composed though.

You’ll never, Know how I wanted to just comfort you
Baby please, just stop!

She grabs the microphone out of its stand, sh'es on the edge of anger and despair. She shakes her fist with her eyes filling up slightly with emotion. She slowly moves around the centre part of the stage without wondering too far from the mic stand before slowly startig to walk backwards into the background for the next act. As she sings the next line she ushers in Ira.

Cus soon better days will soon come this way
So in the meantime I'll mark the way, IRA!

Ira proudly steps onto stage in an elegant blue dress that sweeps the LED floor, it twinkles in the lights. The crowd explodes into excited whooos and cheers! The LED flashes blue and white and the spotlights do the same

Is this love for us, usss?
Big enough for both of us, usss?
Is this love for us usss?
Swallowed up in love in the...

The LED floods with water that submerges the entire screen as smoke jets shoot out from the edges of the stage. Ira walks right out torwards the front centre of the prism stage. The camera pans out capturing the whole audience. It switches views each line she sings to a differnet camera angle, one from above, one from left, right, and then finishes with a frontal shot on stage. She smiling proudly as she finishing the chorus. The crowd erupts again for the host! Ira is just delighted. Hers smile stays for the rest of the song.

Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Swallowed up in love in the
Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Swallowed up in love in the deep blue seaaa!

The camera fades to black and back in again as Ira marches proudly towards a camera positioned on the left side of the stage, her dress twinkling.

I've been trying hard to listen to
What my heart wants to say
Letting it paint the way

Ira bends her back and motions painting on a canvas, huge paint splashes adorn the LED background screen. The camera follows her,

This love is perfect
Lets paint our music
Fitting the canvas
Paint with blues and whites
I brush the paint around

Ira marches backwards as a pineapple booth suddenly appears at the back of the stage And Clin and his two dancers one man one women run onto the stage with enthusiasm.

M! C! G!

The background LED breaks into huge 3D cubes which bop, rotate and pulsate in time with the music playfully. The cubes are white on a dark blue background. Dozens of huge long thin white and yellow spotlights whirl all around the arena, resembling a nightclub, they swoop fast over the audience and flash fast (epilepsy warning advised). The DJ booth is now lit up in all its pineapple glory. The side panels of the stage move outwards slowly and back in several times throughout. The camera quickly switches to a group in the crowd that can be seen with their right hands raised jumping up and down to the song, their expressions are of pure excitement. During the instrumental, both Clin and Pallix sing the Hey's and oooh's that can be heard in the background. Clin steps backwards to join the female dancer to perform some choreography together.
Side by side, they turn their backs to the camera and with outstretched arms twerks their asses to the camera. Their outstretched right hands start high fiving the air as they turn to the beat to face the front body shot cameras. The camera stays with them. They face the camera turn to the right and kick their right legs up before turning to the centre and walking left along a few steps to the beat. They spin clockwise and the female dancer then moves in front of Clin, never taking her eyes from the camera she grabs her hair, releasing her scrunchy and waving her lovely locks and starts to make her way downwards. Clin shoulder pops and moves his hips to the beat whilst the female dancer slowly moves her hands down her right thigh erotically, the camera zooms onto her hand as it makes its way down. The camera then switches to one that's slightly off centre on the stage as Clin bops over to Pallix in time to the beat. The camera follows him along as Clin walks over grabs a cheeky high five off Pallix, whose scratching away excitedly, a massive smile on his face, before returning to the centre. The audience is dancing and jumping along.

The female dancer is still in the centre energetically dancing along to the song perfectly. Her hair is all roughed up and sweat is starting to show on her shoulders as if she's working out. As the next verse starts she pauses, biting her bottom lip playfully whilst staring into the body shot camera in front of her, her roughed up hair, slightly covering her face. She turns around to look at Clin and catwalks back to stand on the right of Clin. She dances less energetically next to Clin to the beat, moving her shoulders and hips and arms

Party vibe is high now
Music playing in the air
Intoxicated people
Oh they are everywhere

The female dancer spins her head round and collapses slowly to the ground onto her front. She stays there briefly for a second before winking and walking her fingers along the stage towards her chest like shes playing the piano and smoothly raises to her knees and then to her feet.

Alcoholic fluids flowing
Lets get these juices going
Oh Yeah
We know how to get the melody flowing

Clin tilts his head back pretending his right fist is a alcoholic shot He shakes his head, pretending the shot he just took was extra strong. He smiles cheekily to the front facing camera

We know how to do it in Malta Comino Gozo
No place quite like us keep it on the down low

Clin and the 2 dancers all stick the left index finger near their mouths gesturing a shush. The camera pans backwards as Clin points to the audience and surveys the entire arena right to left. The camera suddenly cuts to the young male dancer who rips of his floral shirt, showing off his muscular torso and ripped abs, he grabs it in his left hand and chucks it into the crowd. The shirt is caught by a pair of men in the front row who cheer madly.

Our guys are dressed to excite all of you
This is the place to be

A MCG flag is portayed on the LED floor and red and white colours play on the background behind. Off white spotlights dart around the arena.

So?

The camera zooms out to proudly show the whole stage and the left and right panels begin to lift out at a 45 degree angle from the stages lowly raising the two dancers up. They both perform choreography in unison the stage glows a neon pink. The camera leans a bit closer. The LED background changes to slow moving cubes on a black background that fly out from a central point in the middle of screen. During the next 2 versus neon blue and pink lights whoosh out from the top and sides of the stage over the entire arena.

An onstage camera come up from behind Clin showing the entire arena. Clin looks directly into the lens beckoning an already tempted audience asking them a question he already knows the answer too.Throughout the next verse the camera circles Clin anticlockwise rotating around him, Clin follows as it rotates around him.

Can we tempt you?
Oh let us tempt you?
Sure we can't tempt you?

The onstage camera veers off as Clin break eye contact and starts singing towards the audience again. Multiple flags and dancing audience members can be seen just beneath him dancing wildly.

Can we tempt you?
I think we can tempt you!
Sure we can't tempt you?

The camera cuts to a far body shot of Clin, and the camera spins round blurring and suddenly the next act has arrived as the camera cuts to the centre back as Erba Sekondi ta Sajf with guitars around their necks, march out to the drums, the camera backing out as they do. Massive cheers erupt from the audience for the band. The background flashes orange to black and cycles throughout the first part of
the chorus

Don't listen, what do you want, what do you want
Do you want me back
I've tried playing it cool, but you aint texting me back
But when I'm looking, when I'm looking at you, I love you hmmmmmm

Fireworks shoot up out the side of the stage to roars from the audience. The background flashes purple to red and cycles throughout the second part of the chorus. The camera pans for the first line and then centres on Luke, before moving to the other members singing.

Don't listen,
One minute you need me, you need me
Stop the confusion, the confusion, but you just aint ringing me back
So help me out I need you back in my life
I can't ever be lovable ooooohhh

Luke walks up to the edge of the stage and touches audience members hands ( girls scream with delight) The camera zooms on each band member for 2 seconds showing them singing and smiling at their cameras. The guys then pat there hearts with their hands and perform some choreography. The camera pans out and curves round the stage showing an angle from above, then swooping in showing the entire stage Calum, Michael and Ashton join Luke at the front of the stage, playing their guitars.

Curved lips she just can't disguise.
Faking the tears, the tears you just cant hide
Cause you make my heart love.
The strongest love I have ever felt
I can try to hide everything I stand for but I leave it on the side ooh

The background flashes orange to black and cycles throughout the first part of the chorus. The spotlights flash to the beat. The lads now jump around lunging at the cameras. They aggressively play their guitars. As they sing "But when I'm looking" the camera moves between them one by one as they lift their heads one after the other. The camera splits into four as this happens.

Damn love, what do you want, what do you want
Do you want me back
I've tried playing it cool, but you aint texting me back
But when I'm looking, when I'm looking at you, yeah oooohhhh

The background flashes purple to red and cycles throught the second part of
the chorus The camera zooms on Ashton energetically playing the guitar before zooming back to Luke. The camera pans around the arena and over the screaming fans.

Don't listen,
One minute you need me, you need me
Stop the confusion, the confusion please, but you just aint ringing me back
So help me out, me out, I need you back in my life
I can't love without you ooooohhh oohhhhh

The stage fades to black with deep yellow spotlights on the band members. The camera is solely aimed at Luke singing this part. The camera fades to black and the band retreat as a voice echoes out as Luke fades out. A huge cheer for the band and 2 time Worldvision participant Lewis Sarucino walks modestly onto the stage. His vocals echo out. He waves out towards the audience and they applaud and cheer. The track is slightly faster than his original. He pauses in the middle of the stage.

Your love, your love, your smile, your smile
Cry and cry
I try and I try and I try but you just,
Resent me, and resent me oh baby whyyy resent me why resent me

12 spotlights then appear face down and quickly turn from the stage floor bathing the audience in a dim yellow glow. On the first word of the chorus the stage bursts into a fiery reddish and yellow glow, the audience can now see Lewis more clearly he's dressed in back shirts and ripped jeans.

Why can't you be mine?
If only I could be your one
Light me up, light me up, light me up, light me up
Wont you save me!

The camera pans out showing the entire stage, whilst Lewis sings the next verse. The background now a sunset red. The spotlights on the audience dim and turn off. Lewis has a broad smile on is face. He walks slowly with this mic forward signing powerfully.

I met her
At our local downtown bar.
I can still recall, that blue dress she wore.
She was just so beautiful,
and I knew forever, she'd be mine

The camera switches back to Lewis this time singing whilst closing and opening his eyes, his face is painful with emotion before a slight smile appears and he nods to the camera. His expression is now a little more happy. The stage is now a deep red the LED background now showing lightbulbs hanging down. The camera pans around him slowly before it cuts to a camera panning outwards as he sings "Wont you save me!" It then cuts back to a stage shot.

Why can't you be mine?
If only I could be your one
Light me up, light me up, light me up, light me up
Wont you save me!
I promised I'd stay with her forever
She told me there was no other man

All the bulbs go out on the screen and 8 deep white spotlights all from different angles focus on Lewis who is now crouched down bathing him in a white glow. The camera pans in. Another voice echoes out as the track fades a s amore recent entrants voice can be heard complimenting Lewis. The lights on lewis fade out. As the camera moves towards the entrance at the back of the stage as Jakob gets ready to enter.

This pain is, this pain is breaking me
Is it true? My soul is shaken, but I still believe
We can be, we can be we, this is all we need
So wont you save me

A faint red light shines on the stage, showing Jakob wearing a shiny black leather jacket and plain white t-shirt, with black informal canvas shoes."Hey! I know we've both gone our separate ways" echoes out. Another huge cheer fills the air.

Just don't forget what we had together please
But who here is to blame, to blame, to blame
Hey!
Who would've thought it would end this way
Stepping on hearts and throwing our love away
I'm not the one to blame, to blame,to blame
I'm not the one to blame

Jakob moves to the centre of the stage nearest the LED screen. The camera pans out and the neon lights fade out and the stage is lit in natural yellowish light matching the once again more melancholic segment of the song. The song then takes a turn and starts to become more upbeat as more drums kick in. Smoke has formed on the stage. His fist curled tightly. Before fading back into a body shot. The LED background now showing a sequence of neon buildings and lights. (like this https://i.imgur.com/xoC4k4h.gif ) He grasps the mic with both hands in a new found sense of confidence. His lips curling into a sort of smile that grows, filling himself with confidence, his eyebrows raising ever so slightly.

The guilt sat not on her chest, but inside her brain
What she had done she could not un-do,
Our love was fuelled by compassion and flame

The lights around the stage twinkle a subtle neon blue and pink. Thousands of mobile phone spotlights are scattered across the field in a beautiful array of choreographed light, swinging in unison with each other. We can hear 3 backing singers supporting Jakob. His voice is fierce. As part of his choreography Jakob performs a few moves while he sings, he also extends his arms upwards like this..https://i.imgur.com/Yx1DXGz.gif As he sings "Mortally wounded..." the lights behind him flash suddenly as his body shakes and twitches as if he were being struck by bullets. Bullets of his past relationship suddenly flooding in penetrating his skin, tearing through his heart. His face sombre. Suddenly, he stands tall and firm, like a majestic King, that had been through war and come out the other side alive and unscathed, his bullet proofed armour was his new frame of mind.

But her confession, confession, confession, confession
Was was was out of the question, the question, the question, the question
Now, now she has left me, left me, left me, and left me
Mortally wounded, wounded, wounded, wounded, wounded so much pain
Hey!
I know we've both gone our separate ways

As he sings the pre chorus Lewis again can be heard as the camera pans outwards. Lewis is now stood at the tip of the prism stage. "So... truth be told" rings out!

The camera abruptly pulls out showing all the stages in view. The stage is still black with the spotlight being the only light on stage. Suddenly a large 10ft white ghostly transparent apparition with no facial features (Think Finland ESC 2020) of a man appears behind him of right on stage. At the same time the same thing happens on the left hand stage but a woman appears and the crowd erupts with cheers as they slowly walk throughout the chorus towards the middle stage just stopping short of the central part of the stage.

So... truth be told
Can we never grow old together, be together, for ever and ever?
This pain and worry encroaches on my every being
So... truth be told
I am trying to make sure that if I bend I’ll never have to break
But how much more of this torture will we have to take
So... truth be told

As the chorus comes to an end the ghost figures slowly dissipate into the darkness of the arena .The crowd erupts into cheers as the camera pans out, before snapping quickly back to the view of the microphone stand as Lewis steps back from the microphone out of the spotlight briefly his head head hanging down, his shoulders were slumped and his eyes cast down in a mournful gaze. His mouth was set in a semi-pout. His guitar hanging limp around his neck he strums the notes before stepping confidently back into the spotlight with renewed vigour. His expression now more distraught. The sense of emotion in the lyrics he was about to sing building up a more exasperated tone in his voice. Lewis thought back to why he wrote this song, finding a deep reserve of anger trapped inside him. The mood and tone of song changed. Viewers at home noticed more distress in his vocals and movements whilst still remaining professional. This connected with the audience at home and in the arena. The camera again transitions to a close up body shot of Lewis. He takes a deep breath.

In the depths of nowhere
All this despair
Is crippling me right right down to the bone

Lewis acts like he has been punched in his stomach, he clenches up his lower body reacting to the punch, The despair crippling him physically adding substance. Red. Everything went red. His vision again blurred not by water but this time as a flame curled in his stomach. His brain now went into overdrive as it thought back to all those times spent crying. The memories of his ex weighed down on him but instead of breaking even more, his heart turned ice cold and slunk into the shadows as his brain took control. The flames in his stomach now rose up to his chest and crawled through his veins. Lewis stops playing the guitar as his fingers coiled into fists,

Stripped to my core
So alone, scarred
All I can think about is the look on her face

His eyes shifted to the side again and became glazed with a glassy layer of tears. The camera pans out as a smile appears on his face again. A huge cheers erupts as the next act walks out onto the stage holding hands.

Still I see your eyes each time that I close mine
I can’t see a sunset without seeing your face
The loneliness that made me feel I wasn’t enoughhhhh

Glen is wearing a black suit with black trousers and black leather shoes, with gems encrusted into the bottom of the suit jacket. He has a black tshirt on under his jacket which is also encrusted with small gems. His hair is slightly styled upwards with mousse, and he has light stubble. Kartha is wearing a stunning almost floral like grey dress with many different shades of grey and a black tape around the waist. The dress hooks around her upper arms. She has a pink eye shadow, and her hair is partly up. Kartha is lit up, in a cool light. The light has a blue/white tone as well. She is also looking down with the microphone in her hand. She raises her head and the microphone towards her lips and sings at the same time too cheers from the audience. Her voice rolled over the arena like waves. Swells of power rose up in her throat. Kartha wanted to connect with the audience, singing as if she was telling everyone watching her that when times get hard you can always rely on someone. She immediately begins to make her way towards the centre of the stage with Glen. The camera stays solely on a body shot of her. She stares soothingly into the camera.

Though times may get hard now
You can always rely on me
My soothing waters heal you

Kartha and Glen are now in the middle of the stage, and the camera view cuts to more wider angled view of both Kartha and Glen as they sing the next line together. They both face each other, a look of concentration embedded on their faces, and sing the line towards each other.

I'll help you work it out

The camera now transitions to one from the stands as a hand again is gently flowing through a grassy meadow scene with dew drops on the LED screen.

Be the calm on the (ooooh)
Still blue sea

The LED graphic shows the hand pull slowly away from the grass before cutting back to the outstretched hand back in the grassy meadow. Kartha and Glen are lit with a cold blue spotlight each bathing them in a cool eerie light. The overheard lights and some lights in the middle section of the arena pulsate like a heart subtly to the beat of the chorus as the rest of the arena remains dark, allowing for a vivid contrast and tense mood. The camera pans smoothly right to left around the front of Kartha and Glen before pulling outwards bringing more of the stage into view. It then cuts to a frontal shot of them both singing, their eyes going from the audience to the camera and back again.Their voices blend together beautifully, and both sing completely at the same volume. Kartha sings (Just protect me) at a slightly slower pace to blend in with the next line. As the chorus comes to an end ("Embrace me" onwards) their voices fill with more emotion and spark cheers from the audience. Both Kartha and Glen are feeling it now, their build was here. All the lights tone down to darkness as to not distract away from the impressive LED graphics being portrayed on the superb stage, apart from the 24 spotlights which again have remained constant throughout the whole performance.

Ohh serenity
You're my sense of calm, my security
Just protect me (Just protect me)
An oasis amidst the bustling city
Serenity
Your waters heal my soul, heal my soul
Embrace me
Baptise me with your love

They both then face a head on camera and walk forward a little as the song fades and blends into the next. As they sing the fist line of the chorus both singers belt out "Ohhhh" as the song blends into the last act.

With this new found knowledge
I can help achieve my inner calm
Knocked and bruised I still stand tall
Next to me I'll never walk this route alone
Alone!

Joe then comes onto the stage smiling, with a guitar and is wearing a black fedora and a tatty black shirt and a slightly worn out black motorbike jacket. Huge cheers can be heard!

Gazing at the stars that appeared in the night.
Thinking about how you are the love of my life
Just open, just open your heart
Just feel it, feel it in your heart

The LED screens turns black with red and white squares again which float around playfully on the main LED screen. Red and white spotlights make their way around the arena. The chorus of the song then commenced, Joe points passionately towards the audience, a huge smile across his face, showing off his bright white teeth, whilst tapping his feet to the beat the camera rotates with him in a stationary circle.

The love of my life
The love of my life
The love of my life
The love of my life

Camera transitions to to a wide angle shot of Joe who has now reached the middle of the stage. He plants his mic into the open microphone holder. The emotion goes from a pleasant bubbly one to one of slight exasperated pain as the lyrics describe the pain the love has on him for the woman he cant live without. He strums quicker, the camera now just of centre, he peers directly into it before it switches to a frontal shot. A spotlight lights Joe up as the rest of the arena goes dark the LED fading into a dark blue and red.

My heart is on fire, and I don’t want to put that fire out.
Right now all I want to do is scream and shout, I love you

Suddenly from all, angles all the acts of the interval join Joe on stage and sing along with him. They all gather around im on the sides. Straight away red and white lights race around again and the LED is back to large bouncy red and white squares on a black backdrop as Joe grabs the mic out of the stand again as the pre chorus kicks in and jumps excitedly once, as he lands sparkler flares shoots out around the edge of the stage perfectly in time with the landing. The stage is bathed in red and white lights. Now with a more excited emotion he carries on strumming his guitar a huge cheeky grin on his face. The other singer are all grouped on either side of him are all smiling The camera wide angles circling half the stage around the back of the front audience members heads, their heads silhouetting the camera shot as it circles left to right. Half way through it cuts dramatically to a close up shot before switching back to the camera again circling the stage this right right to left through the excited audience before cutting to a onstage camera solely on Joe, he follows it along playfully. Joe flicks his head back knocking his hat to the floor showing of his brown messy locks.

Just open, just open up your heart
Just feel it, feel it in your heart
Cus baby, your love heals all the scars
Just feel it, feel it in your heart
Gazing at the stars that appeared in the night.
Thinking about how you are the love of my life
Just open, just open your heart
Just feel it, feel it in your heart

Red and white and blue spotlights whirl around the arena. The camera transitions to the back of the arena showing the entire arena before it cuts and drifts forwards towards the main stage. We then cut to a stage view. Joe strums away eagerly as the song comes to an end, moving his body to the beat slightly the other singers copying. The last line Joe points towards the closeup camera directly into the lenses as huge fireworks explode in the air to end off the song.

The love of my life
The love of my life
The love of my life
So will you marry me?
The love of my life

The acts all hug tightly and cheer. "Thank you so much" They all shout loudly into their mics! A roar of applause and cheers and screams fills the arena for a good solid minute as all the acts gesture blowing a kiss and wave as they leave the stage.

Suddenly the lights fade as black clouds sprawl across the LED screen sky, billowing in from the left. The excitable crowd roars and cheers as Aris Mooe the winner of Worldvison 84 steps out onto the stage ! A stillness falls over the arena, and in the silence comes a low crackle of thunder, rolling across the arena to the pattering of tiny raindrops. A streak of hot silver light splits over the LED screen and the arena illuminating the audience, and the sound of a downpour begins and fades as the opening bars of the song start. The backing singers can be heard humming the opening. They aren't visible.

The camera view rises to reveal a row of silhouettes, as great flashes of white light permeate the entire stage to the beat representing lightning across the misty stage as Aris and her band, with grey tape covering their mouths, marches in from the dark at the back like soldiers, left right left right, in perfect unison, Philip approaching the guitar, Joe would be playing the drums, usually Megan would normally play drums but the team decided to swap them around something they felt worked better for the song, and, Megan to the microphone stand positioned off right centre. They reach their respective posts, with Aris right at the centre stage. As Aris gets ready to sing they all rip of their tape in unison with each other, the audible sound of ripping tape can be heard across the arena. The stage is dark and spooky like. Aris has her hair down still and is wearing the same outfit as the parade of nations. Worn black torn jeans, black muscle tank clad and calf high boots She also had black socks on. Her makeup is also the same. The bars are pushed down on each side of the stage, so that the main space in the very centre of the stage appears more elevated. Half of Aris's face is cast in shadow. A dim but warm yellow light shines on Aris from the side as she begins to sing, the light reflecting off her bracelet. With a moody but vulnerable gaze, she looks slightly sideways to the camera. The camera has a some what gritty filter to it and moves around like a hyperactive child, not staying still. It jitters around capturing brief angles of her face, shoulders and body. It blurs slightly every so often as Aris raises a hand upwards showing off her black painted nails before dropping it down dramatically to her side again. The camera cuts to a onstage camera which has the same effects as well as being black and white after Aris sings the first 2 lines, for the brief instrumental it films Philips hands playing the guitar. It then cuts back to Aris again still remaining gritty and bouncy, the colour coming back.

A multitude of flashing disorienting lights of red and white begins to cover the entire arena. She gestures outwards dramatically whilst she sings the second to last line the wind blowing her hair the white spotlights visible as beams through the air, shifting from red to white. Misty particles begin to be visible in the air around her like rain. She keeps one hand on the microphone stand. She is nervous but stays confident. The light flickers chaotically. We cut to a brief gritty bouncy view of Philip playing his guitar, he has a rough looking beard and brown hair and a small circle earring visible, he looks down confidently at his guitar which is just in shot before it wildly cuts Joe who is positioned at the back on the drums he is focused, not looking at the camera. He is in a white t shirt as black jacket. Neither make eye contact with their respective cameras to help create a mysterious mood.

Dan il-maltempati qawwija mhux dixxiplinati

We cut back to Aris the light causing deep shadows under her protruding cheek bones she has a evil glint in her eyes. The camera which is at face height remains wild, unable to stay still capturing the evil mood as it blurs and unblurs and jumps capturing brief shots of different parts of Aris. All the while the lights continue to pulsate to the beat. The lights offering a brief glimpse through the darkness. The LED screen in the back begins to fill up with dark stormy clouds. Shown here The camera then quickly cuts to a onstage camera from the left before switching back as Aris raises both of her hands to face height the light twinkling in her eyes as she does a cold look on her face. The left side of her faint red lips tugged upwards creating a sinister grin that spread across her face as she sings the last line 'Are you gonna try to stop me?' As if playing with the viewers. The camera switches to Philip as he screeches his guitar.

Daqqa tar-riħ, li tgħajjat
Wind blows, howling through

Se tiġi kkunsidrata forza distruttiva
Destructive force to be reckoned with

X'għandek tagħmel?
What you gonna do?

Int se tipprova twaqqafni?
Are you gonna try to stop me?

Suddenly the view changes to a camera on a boom pole as it pans outwards for a few seconds above the bands heads into the audience. The audience is lit up every now and then spectacularly by flashes of lightning light. Their silhouettes can be seen in raising their arms and jumping. The stage is still somewhat dark but the columns of white spotlights now strobe furiously lighting everyone onstage in a white strobe light. It then cuts back to Aris whose leaning forward slightly crouched the mic stand in one hand the other hand lost in her hair. She squeezes her hair in a painful looking way. The LED background now showing a full on storm with lightning flashes and menacing dark clouds. The floor of the stage is still shrouded in mist. The camera is a bit more stable this time but still keeps its jittery and gritty effect. Aris's powerful gritty voice spills out into the arena. As she sings 'Can you see the pain?' She grabs her cheeks with her nails digging in slightly representing the pain of her seeing her boyfriend cheat on her. All the while the wind machine blowing her hair around.

Forza distruttiva mimlija fjammi
Destructive force filled with flames

Jien biss ma nistax infaħħar
I just can't be tamed

Din il-forza vjolenti mimlija rabja
This violent force filled with anger

Uragan u xita li torbot
Hurricane, and lashing rain

Tista 'tara l-uġigħ?
Can you see the pain?

Din l-irjiħat jdur ser jiksbu ya!
This whirling winds gonna get ya!

The camera pulls right out showing all the stage and most of the spectators at the front. The arena is again plunged into darkness the only light being the streak of hot silver lights scattered above the stage just enough to make out the band on stage. The backing singers can be heard. We then cut to various shots of Aris her face somewhat sensual, biting her lips her eyes squinting, shots of Megan glaring into the camera lens and Philip and Joe paying their instruments. Each shot is wild unsettling and bumpy. Misty particles like rain now shroud the stage. A jagged bolt of light rips through the arena. The wind whipped her blonde hair slightly around her face. The beat rolled across the arena. It reverberated around the excited spectators eerily echoing. The crowd can be heard before they settle again as Aris starts to sing. A tornado starts to form on the screen behind her, the tornado funnel gradually getting wider, the stormy clouds whirling and getting bigger. The stage is bathed in white and blood red, splitting Aris in half perfectly. She sings towards the frontal camera as it wildly bumps around her distorting her as it does. Both her hands are now on the microphone as she brings it closer to her lips. For the instrumental the camera wild changes to a close up shot of Philips hands playing his guitar before switching to Aris whose hands are now raised above her head the camera completely mirrors this making it look hallucinogenic. For the rest of the sung verse the camera cuts between various gritty jittery close ups and shots from the side. As it breaks away to the instrumental again the lights flash around her once and the camera transitions to a close up of Aris, her eyes staring wildly. She strokes her hair as the camera distorts with brief flashes of dim light.

The beams of the house creaked in a way
That chilled all their blood away
Exasperated, infuriated
Rain falls, you're saturated

The camera pans past Aris. The lights in the arena slowly building. Before cutting back to a onstage camera capturing a body shot. The lights in the arena become brighter with each beast as they flash spectacularly. The camera switches to Philip as he screeches his guitar and the arena is now left in darkness.

Wind blows, howling through
Devastating force to be reckoned with
What you gonna do?
Are you gonna try to stop me ?

The lights of the arena erupt into flashes of lightning white light. The spotlights on the ceiling shoot around and strobe violently just like lighting within cloud. Aris and her band are lit up by white and the stage lights behind them pulsate violently enough to induce a fit. The camera work is aggressive as it switches to various shots of each band member between shots of Aris almost headbutting the lens and ruffling her top. The whole time the wind ruffles her and the bands hair and outfits. Various lens flares hit the camera subtly.

This destructive force filled with flames
I just can't be blamed
This destructive force filled with anger
Hurricane, and lashing rain
Can you see the pain?
This whirling winds gonna get ya!

The camera cuts and we now have a view of Philips guitar, as he plays the notes in the instrumental. The camera is wobbly and gritty and a lens flares hit the camera subtly. It then cuts back to Aris whose staring into the camera like this https://media3.giphy.com/media/TfRJSpkY ... /giphy.gif

This furious force filled with power

The camera is now a view that creeps upwards from Aris's legs up to her pale white face. She is leaning forward almost falling to her knees, and the microphone is in her right hand, the stand in her left. She tosses the mic stand playfully swinging it as she sings. Again the arena is plunged into darkness lightning flashes across the LED screen as the tornado grows. The camera cuts again to the guitar before cutting away to Aris, an evil smile like look on her face. The stage is lit in a faint grey light. Dim white lights now flash at the sides of the stage to the beat. The backing singers can be heard humming. The camera transitions to a suspended camera in the middle of the audience capturing the whole impressive stage before cutting to a distortion of wild shots of the stage from different angles. The wind machines gradually build throughout the next part of the song as the "storm" grows. The LED looks like this from 1:36 to 1:58 Shown here Aris is now crouching down. https://i.imgur.com/MXpibHv.jpg

Hmm Oh yeah

The arena is dark and begins to fill with ominous black fog and the wind from the fans starts to pick up, howling, crying, warning, baying like a wolf into the night. A crack of lightning rent the air and within seconds the rolling boom of the thunder reverberated overhead just loud enough to be noticed but not to take anything away from the song. The centre stage that Aris is on begins rising very slightly upwards only by about 3ft in total just enough to elevate her more than before. Soon half way through the verse it began sprinkling. Little droplets of water touched her hair and skin, the water droplets began growing larger and falling more frequently. The water seeped through her gauzy top and chilled her skin. The wind machines are blowing nearly at full power now, she begins to stand up.

Wind blows, howling through
Devastating force to be reckoned with
What you gonna do?
I'm losing control now!

Aris stands up, with renewed assurance, the wind machines on full force, the wind machines obviously isn't enough to push her over but as she stands up she gets her stance, her left leg in front of the other and fights against the wind. The wind tears over the stage dramatically. Aris heaved her legs against the gale, against the pressure building on her chest and hitting her face. Her hair is blowing violently. The storm is here. The LED background now a black stormy sky and tornado tearing through a farm, debris being flung in all directions and lightning flashes flash vigorously around the arena. The storm encapsulating her anger, her anger had escaped. Like a tornado tearing through the landscape. The very feeling she had when she found out she was being cheated on. She was on the war path. Suddenly her liberal opinions were gone, her ability for nuance and emotional generosity were gone too. Her hands gripping the microphone.

Aris has a confident look on her face. Perhaps this breakup is the only way she will rediscover who she is. She had these dreams. She had these amazing technicolour dreams that she need to make into some kind of reality for others... and for her too. So now she must go, weave her creative magic into this ether we call the world, and she wishes him well even though she will always face forwards, moving onward. She looks into the camera on her left before looking back to the camera in front of her. It then cuts. The view is now over the audience as the camera moves over them to Aris on stage showing her and all her band, before it cuts to a view panning left to right. The camera distorts for the instrumental and switches to various angled stage shots capturing the drums for one second , the guitar the next. The backing singers can be heard again. Ceiling cams and spider cam shots then show various parts of the stage before cutting back to Aris. Aris keeps eye contact with the camera leaning in slightly, an outstretched finger pointing right down the camera lens. A fearsome look is now on her face. The stage begins to fill with more light from the overheard spotlights and the lights in the arena continue to flash around. A close up shots show Aris raise her hands to face height as she whips her hair back. The wind stops and the camera ends just in front of Aris, looking upwards towards her painful mean looking face glaring down into the lens, she's breathing heavily. Her glistening white teeth clenched before the camera blurs and cuts to a view further back as the arena lights come back on.

This destructive force filled with flames
I just can't be blamed
This destructive force filled with anger
Hurricane, and lashing rain
Can you feel the pain?
This whirling winds gonna get ya!
This whirling winds gonna get ya!
This whirling winds gonna get ya!

Aris lets go of the microphone stand and steps out a broad smile now on her face. The audience is up roaring with cheers and screams flags are being waved in all directions. She half bows and speaks into the mic again. "Grazzi Valletta! Thank you!" Aris and the band wave soak up the cheers and leave the stage to massive applause

Bradley: Wow what a show! It's time to find out if the jury scores for the WorldVision Song Contest 85 are ready and whether we can go around to the all the nations to find out who will be the winner!

Ira walks back onto stage out of breath smiling excitedly.
Bradley: There you are! You kept that quiet!

Ira smirks

Ira: That was fun!!.....We're going to head over now to the WorldVision Song Contest Executive Producer to find out if we're ready to begin showing the jury scores.

The camera pans up into a corner of the arena where the Executive Producer and the committee members are sitting. They are very excited.

WorldVision Executive Producer: Hello all! Amazing show Valletta! Fantastic contest! I can indeed confirm that the jury winner of the WorldVision Song Contest here in Valletta has been found. I am sending over all the votes to you now, good luck!

The two hosts look down at their podium before looking at each other with a grin and then back at the screen.

Ira: Grazzi!

Bradley: Right so what's going to happen now is that all international juries and televotes will tell us their points, with first-place being given 12 points, second place 10 points, 3rd place 8 points, until we get to 10th and 1 point. After that its then time for televote where ANYTHING and I mean anything can happen! Oooooh!"

The pair squeal excitedly

Ira: Can't wait! I am ready Bradley! Come on!

Bradley: Me too! It's time for the first spokesperson... Good evening Beepee!

Good evening, buenas noches, Valetta! La Valeta, Malta Comino Gozo. Nick J. Holland here and here are the votes from the Elejamian jury. The five music professionals who gave our jury votes from the last few contests are back and they've given you their votes. They've sorted out their 1s through 12s and I'm pleased to announce them. Here we go, the first set of points.

Image

Nicholas Holland, better known by his stage name Nick J. Holland*, television personality and singer best known for co-hosting the late night LGBT-themed variety show Saturgay Night from 1997 to its cancellation in 2001 and from its resurrection in 2017 onwards. He's also been the Elejamian spokesperson for WorldVisions 74 and 78 and will be their spokesperson from WV80-90 (unless I host at some point during that period).

* Much like the real life actor Michael J. Fox, the "J." in his name doesn't stand for anything, though in this case not only does he not have a middle name altogether but also he chose it because he thought the name "Nick J. Holland" had a nice ring to it.

  1. Ethane
  2. Mister X
  3. Waisnor
  4. Scotatrova
  5. Malta Comino Gozo
  6. Eljida
  7. Achaean Republic
  8. Polkopia
10. Beepee

Now it's time for the douze points, doce puntos, then points. AKA the only one I have no name by name. Are you ready? Because I am. It's Kyritakia. They're our lucky 12-pointers. And now my job's done, it's best of luck to Lucía, best of luck to everyone else, Nick J. Holland out.

12/29 - Placely Placington

Dave the Hobo - Placely's Voted

Tune: Wesley Willis - Fear The Mullet

On-screen there was a small cardboard box. Your standard, stereotypical brown cardboard box with a "this way up" symbol and a "fragile" symbol as well. It seemed like it was bit enough to fit maybe six or seven PS4 games if you stacked them one on top of another. But this was no ordinary box as the flaps opened and a head popped out. It was Dave the Hobo! He then lifted his arms out thanks to the boxes containing hammerspace and pulled over his trusty keyboard. He played one of the demos and started to sing the Placely Placington points.

Placely Placington has a jury
They give points to the songs they like
The first goes to South Alezia
And the second point goes to a place called Pemecutan

He then lifted his arms up into the air and waved them around, swaying his body from side to side as he sang the chorus. Amazingly, the box didn't break. He'd know, he invented it. And he lives in it.

Placely's Voted

He stopped doing all of that and instead carried on with the song, bobbing his head a little bit as he carried on announcing the votes.

And Nightom will get the three points
Ertzei Kishim will get the four points
Elejamie will get the five points
And the six points will go to Nekoni

Again, he held his arms up in the air and swayed from side to side as he sang the chorus of his point-revealing song. Not much else to reveal here, it's just more of the same.

As the song went onto an instrumental break, the midi drums started to mess up. Dave the Hobo smacked his keyboard a few times to try and fix it but to no avail. So he disappeared back into the box to take care of things. As Ira and Bradley kept asking Dave the Hobo where he was or if he can hurry up, Dave the Hobo himself was busy renovating his indoor garden with a massive dump truck that he found and managed to fit in. One that kept breaking down every few metres, as evidenced by him constantly having to restart it. Rather fittingly because Dave the Hobo can't count, the breakdowns spelt "Seven points for Missus X" in morse code. Eventually, it broke down for good so, deciding to just give up for now, he popped his head back out of the box and carried on his song/points giving.

Eight points, Kalosia
North Alezia gets ten points
Amuaplye shall get twelve points
Those are the points from Placely Placington

As Dave the Hobo once again swayed his body and arms to the song, the camera instead decided to concentrate on Man o' War celebrating their twelve points. In fact, the camera and audio cut in the middle of his song but he still carried on anyway, if only because he was unaware of what happened.

As always, he had to give his closer. It just wouldn't be Dave the Hobo without him doing so, after all.

Rock over Phoda
Rock on, Valletta
Golden Cross: Time to get a Gee Cee!

As the song came to an end, he pushed his keyboard out of the way and disappeared back into his box. Or at least he tried to. Unfortunately, the box finally broke and now it looked like he was wedged into the floor. This would be a tricky predicament. Hopefully he made an invention to free himself. If not, then they might as well break out the Clonomat again.
