"Well, how the hell do you not know the way?"

Martinez didn't know the way to the hotel that they had booked in the capital, Avondale. The only thing the coach knew about Sylestone was that it was similar to Megistos in a tropical way. That, of course, was clearly obvious. Except for the fact that Megistos were ahead of everyone in the Cup Of Harmony in tech. advancement, so you'd have gleaming towers and drones whizzing around. The team were the leaders for now, they had been to Sylestone in the IFC 1. In fact, the IFC 2 (talks are being held about a rename), is coming up very soon, in alignment with the Cup of Harmony. Since this has happened, the IFC competition has been delayed till the end of the Cup of Harmony.

Amateur tournaments aside, the Megistian players found the hotel.

"Finally you found it. What took you so long?" Martinez said.

"Well, not like you helped. You were just following us." The players replied instantly.

The players had a horrible relationship with Martinez, and Martinez wasn't getting the results in. He dropped the squad from a high of 4th to a low of 7th. Talks were already being made about a sack and a find for a new manager, hopefully a manager that knew how to implement the explosive wings of Megistos.

Setting that aside and focusing on the hotel, the MFA went to their rooms after confirming the booking.

"Ooh, this is cool. Nice view of the sunset." The captain, Lam, said. He had a good first World Cup campaign, scoring 3 and assisting 4 in the World Cup Qualifiers 86

"I agree. But save that for later, when we raise the cup."

No one said you couldn't be cocky. Or overconfident.

The players were training for their first match. They had a bye in the first round, so they'd have more energy and more training than the opposition in the 2nd matchday, which would turn out to be Sargossa, the pot 1 team in Group C. Megistos would be extremely lucky to even grab a draw, and it would be impossible for Megistos to win, most likely.

The coach used his (new) training allowance to train the players on 5 drills for now: High And Far, Need for Speed, Dribble Scribble, Shot Bot and a Scrimmage. High and Far is a training drill where players pair up into 2, and one goes on one side of the field, the other on the other side. Then they pass it to their partner. Once the warm up for High And Far is done, they get into the real part. They put 11 balls in the play, and this time, let's assume there is four players here: A, B, C, D. A is lined up in the far right corner, B in the close right corner, C in the far left corner, D in the close left corner. A to B, B to C, C to D, and D back to A. Basically this, but with much more players and 11 balls to keep the players busy.

Need for Speed is a speed game, in which players are supposed to outrun a 50 mile per mile running robot, but they only have to score a goal against the goalkeeper after successfully dodging the robot. Then, they add more robots. And more human players. To outwork the team players and get their pace up a serious ton of amount.

Dribble Scribble, Shot Bot and scrimmage haven't been seen yet, because Martinez is using these simple drills for the first time, and we haven't recorded it, but we'll be back soon!

Win Or Bust For JJP
By Rami Niblick in New Sarum, Ethane

WITH the team now encamped in Ethane, and the opening fixtures of the seventy-eighth Cup of Harmony fast approaching, the Krytenian national team manager, Jerome Jaffacake-Phillips, has laid out his stall for the tournament. Expectations will be high for the Dragons for two reasons. Firstly, there is the fans expectations; to them, Krytenia is still a team capable of reaching the latter stages of World Cups, despite it being over four decades since they managed even a second round berth. Secondly, there's the fact the team were placed into Pot One of the draw, albeit as the tournament's eighth-ranked side.

Krytenia come into the tournament off a qualifying competition that proved somewhat of a mixed bag. On the one hand, they did beat both Darmen and Starblaydia at home, the latter proving especially satisfying as it was the only defeat the Men in Mauve suffered on their way to group victory. On the other, there was the team only taking one point from six against the pescatarian primitives of Sulsuland, and the complete embarrassment against Saltstead that followed on the heels their win over Starblaydia.

Speaking to the press, Jaffacake-Phillips said: "The team know what's expected of them, they know that the silly mistakes and the lazy play that cost us dear in the qualifiers ends now. We have a squad capable of beating the best this tournament has to offer. The semi-finals are an absolute minimum requirement; I'm fully confident the only thing that can stop us from winning the whole thing is facing the Sarzonians from twelve yards."

The first test of the boss' faith in the team will be tonight's match against Murphtannia. The debutants have acquitted themselves reasonably well in their opening cycle, but as we proved way back in the seventh edition of this competition, that's no guarantee of doing well. Three points for the Dragons are a must. Onward!
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can invade the Earth Kingdom, destroy the Southern Water Tribe and wipe out the Air Nomads in the name of spreading the prosperity of the Fire Nation to the entire world, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)
Pandemic disclaimer: As I am sure most people are aware, Omerica recently has been affected by an epidemic of Maxtopian Pox. This epidemic does not and will not extend outside Omerican borders and will not impact any international football games, nor will it form the basis of any long-term roleplay arcs on my part.

However, I will not be recognising the existence of any international pandemics. This does not mean that I will not recognise the existence of disease outbreaks in other countries (largely in the interest of not being a hypocrite), but these will be construed as a series of unrelated outbreaks that do not extend beyond the borders of nations that accept their existence. These outbreaks will not under any circumstances extend to or from the United Republics of Omerica and any attempt to introduce new disease outbreaks to Omerica will be immediately nullified by the Federal Secretariat for Defence’s “Instantaneous Godmode Neutralisation by Optimised Revision of Events” (I.G.N.O.R.E) system.

I apologise to anyone who has been affected in any way by the COVID-19 pandemic. I recognise that the Maxtopian Pox epidemic may be considered disrespectful, insulting or distasteful. If, for whatever reason, you do not wish to acknowledge its existence, I will respect your decision. I wish anyone currently afflicted with COVID-19 a speedy recovery and anyone struggling as a result of the pandemic the best. <3

A federation in the far north, Omerica is a cosmopolitan maritime nation, famed for its environmental beauty, thriving black markets and love of a good drink. Omerica is a federal parliamentary republic with a semi-direct democratic system of governance. An influential country in international affairs, the nation ranks as one of the most politically and socially free states in the multiverse. The nation is noted for having some of the most friendly, compassionate and brash people in the multiverse, who enjoy high rates of economic, scientific and cultural development. The nation is rated as one of the least corrupt and least authoritarian in the world, with low rates of ignorance, obesity, political apathy and preventable death.

About the Incorrigibles
Association code: OME
KPB ranking: 61st (13.34)
All-time record: 151–79–133 (41.6% win rate; 1.47 points per game)
Cup of Harmony record: 17–6–18 (41.5% win rate; 1.39 points per game)
Record under Alexis Stephanidis: 10–5–6 (47.6% win rate; 1.67 point per game)

Omerica’s Cup of Harmony record has been one of very few highs and many tragic lows. In ten appearances at the tournament, Omerica have only progressed out of the group four times and have only made it past the last sixteen twice, both times in Anne-Sophie Groothuis’s last four years in charge of the Incorrigibles. In sharp contrast, this is the very tournament where the alleged Curse of Kilkenny was born.

However, Omerica will come into the tournament with confidence. The nexus of a less frenetic qualifying pace and stability in the back offices led to Omerica recording a top three qualifying finish for only the fifth time in history, with Stephanidis’s first campaign at the helm being Omerica’s best for a decade on a points-per-game basis. Nevertheless, the spectre of a home soil group stage at the Independent Associations Championship still haunts the Omerica faithful.
Staff
Manager: Alexis Stephanidis (age 52; b. Brétolles-d’Ouest, Westavon)
Former manager of Malavan Club de Romainbourg, Alexis Stephanidis is a tactician in the traditional vein of Omerican football, searching for redemption in light of her ignominious exit from the now-reigning Omerican champions. Stephanidis is a managerial idealist who believes in the time-honoured tradition of “the best defence is a good offence” and whose sides are known for their flair and (outside trips to Cobrio) for coming in “clutch”. Rebuilding Malavan from their failed campaign to qualify for the OPSL Premier Division—winning an OPSL Second Division title, a Federation Cup and a OPSL Challenge Cup in the process—and winning Andreaskruis promotion in the Second Division playoffs cements her place as the manager to rebuild confidence in the national team.

Note:
*All ages are reflected to reflect player ages during the 5th IFCF domestic cycle, where the World Cup qualifiers occur. For the Cup of Harmony, add 1 to the age for their present age.
*Do also understand that caps and player stats have not been updated to include matches from the qualifiers

There has been a notable number of players dropped from the list. In goal, Nicole and Suzanne will fight for the 2nd spot following Dikash Johikas' surprise announcement that he will not play in the CoH this time. Danzik Hoboson and Pasits Rikachz have both said that they will take a step back for the Cup of Harmony and instead come back for the title defence at the 11th IAC. As a result, Shakira Handris will take the captain armband this time, as Simone Gori becomes the only defender to stay from the 3 new defenders picked from last year's World Cup. First-choice holding defender Ftiks Wariq was cut for Woden Sweet, and following Josef Gentry's injury, Aubrey Mayer was asked to be a possible substitute in RM. Arnold Shwentin, a player who showed potential during the Qualifiers, especially with regards to his ball handling and passing, was cut instead to allow Nero Wood, a faster and more all-rounded player to be in the team. A lot of exciting changes here and there, but it is not clear whether the team could be that strong this qualifiers.

Captain: Shakira Handris
Vice-Captain: Joel Haodao
Penalty Taker: Shakira Handris (1st), Joel Haodao (2nd)
Free Kick Taker: Pete Carisa, Aubrey Mayer
Corner Takers: The prevailing LB/RB (in the case of a 4-3-3) or LM/RM (in the case of a 3-4-3)

Head Coach: Adnan Suliaha, 53
Assistant Head Coach: Katiri Hedge, 58
General Playing Style: Being a nation which emphasises on fast paced attacking football, Poafmersia would prefer to attack rather then defend. The players can be quite aggressive in getting back the ball, yet they do not keep high amounts of possession and they are very good at making use of mistakes by the opposition team to punish the opponents. Although this team has a weakness in defending set pieces, they are more fond of scoring through set pieces. Another way of scoring is often pressuring opponents through high defensive lines.

Formations: 3-4-3, 4-3-3
Style Modifier: +2.05
Note: Please refer to preview before match to know the predicted lineup for the day. If one is not posted, you may utilise the last posted lineup, and make any enforced changes as you like. (due to injuries, suspensions, etc.)

Fans
Poafmersian fans are crazy about football, and their loud cheers ring about in the stadiums they visit. They are very willing to disturb the peace in the area to celebrate their win after matches, so matches are best held in the afternoon or early evenings. You can spot Poafmers booking large meeting rooms in hotels, going to bars in groups. Apart from that, they do pick up after themselves, and prevent causing much trouble apart from celebrating. You can be assured, however, that they would be travelling around to support their team, so do reserve half the spots in stadiums for them because they would pack it to the brim.

INNOCENTS ABROAD
Ixtub Tün & Niño Pinto

The briefing on the social, moral and legal etiquette for the nation they were on their way to visit had just concluded in the state room of the Bonesea ocean-going cruiser the HMS Skellington Grade, which was the transport option the team had chosen for their route to Kirkham in Sylestone for the Cup of Harmony. Room mates and good friends Ixtub & Niño just wanted to clarify a couple of things with the First Mate of the Skellington Grade, a salty old dog called Wanger Shanty who had done the presentation, him being a well-travelled man of the Wide Enness Ocean - which is another way to say The Multiverse, if you are from this part of the Wide Enness Ocean. But one or two things on what he had said about Sylestone had rather bewildered them.

“Elves?! As in, the pointy-eared things with the superiority complex and terrible poetry?” wondered Ixtub Tün, the young defensive midfielder who had proved himself quite a hero for the national team already, “do they live in the wild or in a zoo?”

“Aye,” says the Bonesman, “they live wild, sure enough, in the wildest sense of the word. Absolute savages, so they are, but don’t worry, you’ll not find them anywhere near where you are going.”

“That’s a shame,” said Niño Pinto, the youngest player ever to play for Tequilo, and one more tournament away from becoming a regular attacking midfielder, after the retirement of El Capitan, Mateo Tafalla, once the Cup of Harmony is done, “I should have liked to see an elf, in it’s natural environment, you know, from a safe distance. Just to see what a dangerous animal is like.”

“Arr, well, I’m sure they be running safari trips for young adventurers like y’selves,” said Shanty, “though of course, even though they can bite and are quite are poisonous, they are mostly pretty dull to watch in their natural habitat. They live so long for a reason - they don't expend any more energy than absolutely necessary. Very dull. Boring to watch.”

“Even so,” said Nuño, dreamily, “to see Laborious Hawk out in the wild would be something to write home about, wouldn’t it, Tubs!”

The Mate was about to explain about elves in Sylestone when Ixtub cut him off with another thought, “Captain Shanty -”

“Mate Shanty, if you please young man,” corrected the Mate.

“Mate Shanty,” wondered Ixtub, “the other thing. These ‘sentient objects’ you mentioned. I mean, what the…?”

“Never met one meself,” said Shanty, “at least, not that I was aware of. I took home a breadmaker to Missus Shanty after one tour, but she never used it, swore blind it was haunted. But I’m not so sure, she’s a superstitious one, that sweet Sally Brown of mine. Personally, I think they just have some well developed machine intelligence in their electronics. I mean, sentient objects?!”

“That’s what I thought,” said Ixtub, uncertain, “it all sounds highly unlikely to me.”

§

The next morning at breakfast in the team hotel in Kirkham - the HMS Skellington Grade pulling a couple of fluid time switchbacks to get there faster than any jet plane ever could using the cunning arts of the Bonesea Armada, Ixtub and Niño were confronted by an attendant at the buffet. They were about to put some toast on.

“Allow me,” said the polite attendant, “that’s what I’m here for. I’m your toaster, this morning. Welcome to Kirkham, by the way.” The toaster had a name badge on, that said Geoffrey.

Ixtub and Niño exchanged knowing glances. “So, you’re a toaster, are you?” asked Niño, politely and slowly so the toaster would understand, “and would you say you are quite sentient, as toasters go?”

“As sentient as any other yuman bean,” said Geoffrey, “but, as toasters go, I’m really more the operator than the object - that there is the actual toaster. I’m the person who puts the bread in.”

“I see,” said Niño, with embarrassment, “I do apologise, I think something got lost in translation there.”

“So then,” said Ixtub, talking to the toasting machine, “you are the actual toaster around here, are you? And how’s your sentience, these days?”

The machine did not reply, but Geoffrey, clearly quite baffled by these strange young foreigners, said “that’s just a toaster, Sir, it doesn’t talk.”

Sylestone is a weird place, they both agreed, over breakfast.

"We interrupt this live coverage of the Cup of Harmony 78 draw from Sylestone to bring you some breaking news back home: Prime Minister Achille Canaveri, leader of the Ligue-Est political party, has unexpectedly resigned, citing health issues caused by stress due to his handling of Savigliane's forced teleportation into Atlantian Oceania. His resignation sends a political ecosystem already weakened by the events of the past year into absolute chaos, as Savigliano political parties have already begun to fight for power before the upcoming election."

"While a Prime Minister's resignation would usually be met with much respect, the opposition parties have pulled no punches in their handling of this event. Populistas firebrand Alberto Caccini called Canaveri 'A traitor to the people who valued corporations above all else,' while the Alliance Socialiste-Democratique's Danielle Bernard-Ricci referred to the Prime Minister's resignation as 'a blessing'. Both parties are looking to topple what has been well over a decade of Ligue-Est dominance, while a number of smaller nationalist, religious, and communist parties are seeking to become major players in the disruption afforded by the past year."

"From Pot 3, Group H is joined by Omerica! After finishing third in their qualifying group, ahead of historical heavyweights such as Astograth and Valladares, Omerica will pose a tough challenge for Savigliane as they fight to finish in the top four of their group."

SNM ESTABLISHES FREE REPUBLIC OF SANGAU
Christopher Guo, The Diaspora Express

LEMAIYI, Sangau -- The Sangau National Movement (SNM) established the Free Republic of Sangau last night in the eponymous mountainous central Yue province, giving their fledgling movement an air of legitimacy as war against the Yincheng government continues. The announcement of the FRS, which has already established control over the former provincial capital of Lemaiyi and surrounding areas, was made this morning, along with a provisional constitution and the election of Luo Sanwei as the first leader. The SNM also announced their intentions to establish a "peaceful, democratic, and prosperous republic once independence from the tyrannical Yue has been won," further strengthening their case to the international community.

The news has come as a major blow to Premier Ren Qiang's strategy to quickly reassert control over both Sangau and Nanhai, the wealthy southern territory who declared independence several weeks prior. With the economy starting to feel the effects of the loss of a significant portion of their economy, as well as the damage caused by the stalemate and costly guerrilla warfare with Sangau, Yuezhou's leader of fourteen years is starting to face serious pressure to step down. The FRS' establishment delegitimizes Yincheng's central authority even further, and could lead to further separatist movements firing in Jiangdong or Xilindao. As a result, there is a very real possibility that the People's Federation is separated entirely, with all six of its constituent republics forming their own governments, if Yincheng is not able to retake control.

this is a currently developing news story; check back for more details.

CUP OF HARMONY, TAKE TWO!
by Pham Ngoc Le

With the final whistle of the closing match of the World Cup 86’ qualifying stage, the Mavinese national football team officially ended their bid for a spot in the final tournament in Newmanistan and Drawkland. Although it is understandable to feel disappointed, especially after such a promising run by the national team, let us remind ourselves that this is only the second time Mavinet participate in a World Cup qualifying event. At the start, no fans in their right minds would have predicted a third place finish in a group where we are the six-seeded team. The home stretch’s performances against Unimon or The Minarchist Free State left much to be desired, but on the other hand, the efforts against Terre Septentrionale or Nephara were commendable. It is perhaps still early to dream of a World Cup final’s presence, but now is a good time to aim for the second-highest star: the Cup of Harmony.

Here is a reminder if you forgot what the Cup of Harmony is: It is an invitational tournament where the countries who failed to qualify for the World Cup final compete for an only-slightly-lesser silverware. Now, people may be more dazzled by the prestige and glamor of the World Cup, but there are arguments to be made that the Cup of Harmony is just as thrilling and difficult to win as its more popular cousin. Whether or not you think that’s true, make sure to tune in to watch our beloved Water Buffaloes running on the pitch again in this tournament, hosted this time by Ethane and Sylestone in Esportiva.

Following an outstanding campaign, Mavinet’s head coach Nguyen Minh Quan decided to make no changes to the roster coming into the Cup of Harmony. Skipper Nguyen Quang Khai announced after the end of the World Cup 86 qualifiers that he will retire from international football after the Cup of Harmony. Goalkeeper Nguyen Hoang Trung will likely be the next captain of the team for the next World Cup cycle, but he himself is considering retirement in the next few years. Talented players like Do Manh Cuong and Tran Hoang Minh will surely missed the experience provided by seasoned veterans like Hoang Trung and Quang Khai, but they along with other prime-aged players like Vo Thanh Hai, Ho Vu Thanh Hoang and Vu Tien Linh are now ready to step up and lead the lines on the international level.

But there might be even bigger change coming for the position of the national team’s head coach. There are rumors that Head Coach Minh Quan is also considering retirement at the end of World Cup 87 cycle and the Football Association are already looking for potential replacements. Long-time assistant to Head Coach Minh Quan, Mr. Phan Vinh Hien, will be considered the top candidate, but there is no ruling out the possibility of a foreign candidate, given the increasing connection between Mavinet and the world.

For now, we can be content that the impressive squad that scored 45 goals and landed third in the latest World Cup qualifiers will be kept intact for the race toward the Cup of Harmony. Joining our squad will be a group of other teams just as fixated on winning this silverware. Let’s have a quick look at our direct competitors in the group stage:

1. Sarzonia
The top seeded team of the group. Sarzonia barely missed out on a spot in the World Cup qualifying playoff due to poorer head-to-head records against Baptism of Fire 73 champions Graintfjall and sensational newbie Yuezhou. Failing to qualify and finishing fourth behind two new teams to the World Cup can only be considered a disappointing result for the former champions. Despite this fact, the Stars are still a formidable team and will surely look to redeem themselves in the Cup of Harmony.

2. TJUN-ia
Nicknamed the Jaguars, TJUN-ia made it to the World Cup qualifying playoffs, only to be bested by Chromatika with very separating the teams in both legs. Entering the Cup of Harmony with a relatively young team full of motivation after a good campaign, TJUN-ia are one of the candidates to move on to the knockout stage.

3. Zeta Reka and Hugeltadom
A fellow graduate from the Baptism of Fire 72, Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom are no strangers to Mavinet, having met (and defeated) them in the grand final of our first international tournament. The Rekan coming to Cup of Harmony on a back of a fairly average run in the World Cup qualifiers with 25 points and a middle of the table finish. The throwback to the BoF72 final in this group will be an interesting match for the two teams to see how far they have come since their first encounter.

4. Barunia
An unfamiliar opponent for Mavinet, they are not unfamiliar to the Cup of Harmony, having reached the final twice in the 62nd and 64th editions of the cup. The Suns finished the latest World Cup qualifying stage in fifth with 25 points. Despite not having a particularly successful World Cup qualifying campaign, Barunia will have plenty of hope for the upcoming tournament as they try to reclaim past glories.

5. Yuezhou
The sensation of the World Cup 86 qualifying stage. They came out (or more accurately, back) from obscurity and took the world’s attention by force, finishing third in a group with Farfadillis and Sarzonia and only missed out on the playoff spot due to head-to-head record. A country that probably has more similarities to Mavinet than most, Yuezhou will provide plenty of entertainment and excitement to this group if they continue on the current form.

6. Rangers FC
Being a newbie to international football (despite technically being a football club), Rangers FC understandably had the roughest time in World Cup qualification than all of the other teams in this group. That is not to say they did poorly. With 20 points, only 7 short of the mid-range, they are far from being the worst team out there and can totally spring a surprise on any team complacent enough to underestimate them and their handlebars.

As I mentioned earlier, the Cup of Harmony brings together the best of the non-qualifiers and these teams can bring as much thrill to their races as the World Cup final tournament. Group D features some strong names like Sarzonia and TJUN-ia, as well as some of the most interesting faces among the new teams like Yuezhou or Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom. With 4 teams advancing from each group, there are definitely chances for Mavinet to appear in the next round if Head Coach Minh Quan’s squad can keep up their good form from the World Cup qualifiers.

All of Mavinet’s matches are played on The Bay Reserve stadium in Sylestone. To the Mavineses travelling to the Esportivan country, be sure enjoy the lush rainforests, pristine beaches and most of all, prepare yourself to meet the sentient objects. Just… make sure that the objects are actually sentient before attempting to speak to them.

Let the journey begin!

Alexis Stephanidis comes out better for wear in a difficult qualifying group
By Serena Kendall

The Incorrigibles will not be headed to the World Cup finals, but nevertheless come out looking better than they did before. The United Republican Soccer Federation’s pick of Alexis Stephanidis as Omerica manager is a decision that so far looks more like the masterstroke of Anne-Sophie Groothuis than the disaster of Christine Salmond.

While Turori’s win against Astograth mathematically knocked the Incorrigibles out of contention, that did not stop Omerica from embarking on a full-on assault in Blampano, achieving redemption for a humiliating home defeat to the last-place side and securing third place in the group. Ultimately, a second-string side capitulated a few days later back in Port Alexandre, allowing Turori direct passage to the World Cup finals, but Omerica still come away looking a stronger side for the journey.

When the United Republican Soccer Federation announced former Malavan Romainbourg and then-Andreaskruis manager Stephanidis as the new Omerica manager, fans had the memory of her Malavan side’s 9–0 aggregate defeat to Jraxville FC burned into the back of their minds and were consequently skeptical of Omerica’s qualifying chances. When Omerica were drawn against Turori, Siovanija-Teusland, Astograth and Valladares in Group 5, even so much as a third-place finish was considered unthinkable.

The skeptics have been proven wrong. Even if this cycle has been a thorough fluke, Stephanidis’s Omerica have shown a flair that has been missing from Omerica sides since Groothuis’s fateful departure at the end of the 75th Cup of Harmony. Omerica have finished the group with a respectable goal differential, having conceded fewer goals than any team save Astograth and Turori. With the Incorrigibles’ draw against Valladares at the Alain Tramontin Stadium in Eterna City, the nation will just miss out on a top sixty spot heading into the Cup of Harmony, but will have improved an impressive seventeen places from the pre-qualifying ladder.

This marked improvement comes off the back of a wonderfully consistent performance against the bottom five seeds of the group—Gopnikea, Garifunya, the Holy Junta, Norralesse and Blampano—against whom Omerica took 27 of the 30 points on offer, only dropping points against Blampano in a bizarre match in Romainbourg. While Omerica were unable to nick any points off the top two teams, the Incorrigibles were able to avoid defeat to either Astograth or Valladares; nevertheless, Omerica’s grand total of four points against the rest of the top half is something that Stephanidis’s side will need to work on going into the next campaign. Luckily, if the Incorrigibles can maintain that consistency against the bottom half teams next time, they will have a solid foundation to build upon.

The rebuilding project after the missed World Cup 83 cycle and George Kostas’s disappointing reign will continue, but whatever happens in Ethane, the Incorrigibles have defied their name. The national team have demonstrated that they can grow, they can improve and they can compete. The Cup of Harmony will next-to-impossible to win given the number of big name teams that have missed out, but an improvement on the last-sixteen performance from two years ago will bode well for the next Independent Associations Championship and the next World Cup cycle.

And even if the Curse of Kilkenny strikes again, remember that Omerica’s successful 74 qualifying campaign came off the back of the nation’s only previous third-place qualifying finish. World Cup 87, here we come. ◇

• Rumour Mill: Will Red Bolton make the trip to the next Indies Championship or will he hang up his boots in Ethane?
• CoH78: No folks, getting knocked out in the group stage is not what the Curse of Kilkenny is about…

Who's got to win?

Now this is the first ever Cup of Harmony tournament indusse is attempting. 7 seasons of playing in world cup (14 years in Indussean Calendar) and this is the first time the team is able to participate in a CoH tournament. The team was once invited to a CoH tournament hosted by the current host Ethane and another sporting nation Qasden. Due to the internal conflicts or the colonialism in Indusse, the team wasn't permitted to participate in the edition. This made the captain Baskar H Kumar to join the freedom fight and move to politics. This time the team is really excited to be part of the CoH edition. The team has got a change, Mr. Guesippe Holland has been appointed as the new physiotherapist. the team is waiting for the upcoming matches. the group F consisting of opponents HUElavia,Ziwana,Sulsuland,Astograth,South Newlandia and Electrum is one of the hardest groups in this edition.

Who is Baskar?

Baskar Harihara Kumar or Baskar H Kumar was born in Edgestone, which is a small town in the outskirts of New Hind City. He was born in 12th October 1989 to Sri. Harihara Mundakeshwar Kumar, the district magistrate and to Smt.H. Ahalyadevi who was a advocate at the high court of Hind. He is popularly known as BHK. The Riena Sentinel

Might the Cup of Harmony be Riena's saving grace?
Players and staff alike fight to redeem themselves after poor WCQ showing

It was always going to come to this, wasn't it?

Ever since they crashed to an early exit from the Campionato Esportiva on home soil, there has been a sense of dispiriting inevitability looming over Riena's cycle. Ineffective in losing against Vdara and feckless in defeat to Ancherion, the Wavelets were brought crashing back down to Earth after the heady heights of the previous cycle. In the aftermath, questions were asked, accusations abounded, and blame was apportioned - for how could a team that had fared so well in their debut cycle start this one in such ignominious fashion?

Those of an optimistic disposition were quick to point out that Riena's Campionato Esportiva campaign had lasted all of three matches, which was not anywhere large enough of a sample size with which to judge the team, much less write them off completely. Going into qualification for the World Cup, there was a cautious optimism that Riena would be able to regroup and push the top seeds all the way. But those hopes were quickly dashed. Riena opened with a reverse to third seeds Trolleborg, who were exactly the sort of opponents they needed to beat to bridge the gap to the multiversal elite, and followed up with one dismal performance after the other.

The players and staff wilted under the pressure as they had never before. As fourth seeds, Riena were expected to build off the impressive qualification campaign of last cycle, to make a concerted push towards the holy grail of qualification - a far cry from the free hit that had been their debut cycle. Every point Riena were able to pick up then had been a gratifying bonus - but every point they dropped now became yet another stick with which to beat them. As a result, the team's form collapsed spectacularly, so much so that the RFA tried to improve their fortunes by moving all their home matches to the Radiant Sands Arena, in a misguided attempt to give Riena the upper hand against opponents who might be unprepared to play on sand.

Nevertheless, Riena's patchy form did not improve appreciably, and neither the manager or the players seemed able to do anything about it. The team did manage to rouse themselves for a rare victory against the Hinodejin Empire and two points against Taeshan, but their hard work in those difficult games was completely undone by an inability to consistently play at the level they are capable of. Losses against the likes of Ziwana, Springmont, and Fluvannia - three teams against which maximum points might have been expected - did little to staunch the extensive bleeding, and by the time the Hinodejin Empire had exacted their revenge with a 2-0 win in Nagato, Riena were officially eliminated from contention for qualifying.

After a thoroughly mediocre qualifying campaign, attention now turns to the Cup of Harmony in Ethane and Sylestone. Despite their poor showing in qualifying, Riena were somehow able to impress sufficiently to earn an invitation to the CoH, where they will be playing in Group G. At a glance, it looks as though Riena's cycle might get worse before it gets better - Group G, widely acknowledged as one of the more difficult groups in this edition of the CoH, contains such names as Poafmersia - who memorably pushed the Bulls of Audioslavia all the way in qualifying before falling short near the end, and Vdara, who enjoyed an impressive campaign against the likes of Eura and Pasarga, and were desperately unlucky to miss out on a playoff spot. Aside from these two top seeds, there are also two other rising teams in Group G which might well give Riena a run for their money. Maccian, who shared a BoF with Riena, are a decent team who could plausibly spring a surprise or two on their day. For their part, debutants Tioguldos are perhaps the dark horses to watch out for in Group G. They impressed many with their aggressive, proactive style of play throughout the qualifiers, and with the astute Gúpder Mebal at the helm, they will be hoping to leave their mark on this CoH.

Naturally, being drawn into such a tough group does not bode well for Riena's chances. On the surface, it seems as though all the teams in Group G are, relatively speaking, quite evenly matched. But Riena are going into this CoH on the back of a run of streaky form and a worsening crisis of confidence, and despite their status as third seeds, there is no guarantee that they will have enough about them to see off any of the contenders in the group. This is of course on top of intensifying pressure and speculation regarding the players and staff. Questions abound as to whether the manager Kanata Shiranami has taken the team as far as she can, and as to whether the team has simply found its natural ceiling after the spectacular overachievement of last cycle.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the team, the manager and coaching staff remain in situ for the CoH, and the squad remains unchanged from the World Cup qualifying campaign. Riena's CoH, then, will be a tale of a team struggling for redemption, a team given a second chance to prove that they really do have what it takes to crash the party of the multiversal elite. For better or for worse, the futures of the players and staff alike will be in the balance - and the battle to salvage a dismal cycle begins tomorrow against Poafmersia.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - WOMEN

These are tough times for Fleftic football. After having experienced the rise of a so-called "golden generation" of players at right around the same time that Abanhfleft finally joined the greater multiverse, everyone is seemingly losing their heads now that the Fleftic teams are just losing left and right. Rebuilding is the word that everyone knows is being thought but not said, but even that is encountering problems seeing as even Abanhfleft's youth teams are doing very poorly in their competitions. The danger of overperforming in the early years has seemingly finally caught up with the Democratic Republic, and now the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft is having to do everything in its power to reverse a troubling trend and finally get this sports-obsessed nation back on the right track. They tried to do that in the Independents Cup but that didn't pan out as good as they would have wanted. And now it's time for the World Cup itself. It couldn't have come at a worse possible time...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.00
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Caretaker manager: Chelsea Stuart (39 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Stephanie BRYAN 37 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Women Image
Stephanie Bryan finally gets to represent the blue, orange, and green once again after over four years of sitting out due to a new reliance on the likes of Yannie Redborne and Yelena Valinovskaya to ride the bench while Victoria Carter is on form, but with Redborne now retiring from international footie and Valinovskaya recovering from ligament repair surgery, Steph will now get the chance to be seen riding the Fleftic bench once again. But whether she will be the long-term replacement for Carter and the rest is still up in the air as there are more promising keepers out there, at least according to Holly Jonasson. Finally gets a run out as the starter for the women's national team, at least for the 5th Independents Cup.

RB: Colleen ADAMS 30 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women Image
There was a time when people wondered what Colleen can offer to the national side. Seven years on and now we know what it is: defensive solidity in the back four. What more can a team ask for then? Well, maybe less yellow and red cards from Colleen. She's had her fair share of those at club level and the SFA is not really keen on her starting up a new account with the referees at the Independents Cup.

RCB: Christy SHEPLEY 27 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women Image
At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but she has to bulk up and get stronger if she is to become one of Abanhfleft's best defenders. She remains on the bench to make way for Miranda Sullins and Catarina Soler in this Independents Cup squad.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 30 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women Image
An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LB: Deborah RIDDLES 28 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image
Right now, she's a left back, but Deborah is a natural wing-back who has the potential to develop into an out-and-out winger. Deborah is currently playing with the defense, but only because that is her best footballing position at the moment. Still loves to throw in a cross and will often clog up the left side of the field alongside the team's out-and-out left wingers.

RM: Stephanie WINTER-SLAUGHTER 29 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Ladies' Premier League)
Winter-Slaughter's surname sounds rather weird when you consider her biggest asset is an unprecedented sense of justice, but it really is. Winter-Slaughter, while a competent midfielder with enough room to grow, became much more notorious for her actions both in and outside of the field, often helping opponents and team-mates at distress from injuries or pretty much anything else. Conquered some hearts for her kindness, funnily enough. Stephanie was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann after the disappearance of the Unified Sunrise Islands so that Abanhfleft could take advantage of her talents.

LM: ERIN Jensdottir-Jennings 32 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women Image
We finally come to one of the most controversial additions to Abanhfleft's Independents Cup squad yet. Not a person living in Abanhfleft hasn't heard of the story of Erin Jensdottir and her friend Britt Hanokssen. The two of them had gotten in trouble with an Anglatian gang and their friend Bisera Haralampieva, of Rosen City Ladies and Pridnestrovia women's national team fame, called on another friend of hers to get Erin and Britt out of trouble. They did so by faking Erin and Britt's deaths and substituting them for two dead bodies. Britt and Erin had ended up playing for FC United of Riuwiee in the seventh tier of Fleftic football before they finally came clean about their status, resulting in the biggest ever points deduction in Fleftic football history and a massive settlement package with Hunsen Loggers from United of Riuwiee for both Erin and Britt. Erin is described as the complete playmaker able to operate from deep or right in front with the forwards, which is why Heinrich Wurzmann recommended her naturalization in time for the Independents Cup.

RW: Elene LINER 26 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies Image
Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a striker instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: BRITT Hanokssen-Hanks 29 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women Image
Erin Jensdottir's best friend and girlfriend, Britt has been called "too ambitious for her own good" by the man who would eventually recommend bringing Britt over to Rosenpfelblatz, Matthew Cave. Britt isn't exactly the best, most mobile, most skillful, fastest, or most accurate player available for the Independents Cup, but she makes up for it in her sheer never-say-die attitude. Other things that other players might consider lost causes are just more challenges for Britt to overcome. That being said, if Britt does end up making an appearance for Abanhfleft, it's probably more out of desperation than anything else. But still, no one knows. Maybe this is the tournament where Britt finally shines bright.

LW: Amelie RUSEV 26 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image
Amelie Rusev is the best player on current Fleftic under-18 team after Gareth Williamson. At just 18 years old, she's already looking like the complete winger package. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie is already on her way to the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies at such a tender age. Kasper Molak will surely look to make Amelie the successor to Raisa Korovina as the next Miss Ludogorets.

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 26 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town Image (Mercedini)
Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did well in her first stint abroad, winning a domestic cup with Mercedini's Hoventon & Corlington Town, but another potential loan move to the Gallian Union fell through and she's had to stay with Airbus Besanza for this season. This could very well change though as another opportunity could be opening up for her, but it's going to take her much farther away from the Fhulghamous than just Mercedini...

RESERVES
GK: Ursula QATINTIKI 34 y/o, Crisisbless Athletic Image (Nephara)
Qatintiki is a ferocious keeper who believes herself to be a good sweeper but unfortunately doesn't have all the necessary skills to be an actual sweeper keeper. Fortunately for her, she's managed to keep 10 clean sheets in the Premier Development League (Ladies' Division) for Sarvusdalamoive Ladies. Unfortunately for her, this performance hasn't carried to her first international call-up in the Sporting World Cup, where she conceded a total of 14 goals in the tournament. But the presence of an experienced back four in front of her could help her concede less in this tournament. Despite being a rapidly rising star in Sarvusdalamoive, Qatintiki opted to cut her contract and sign up for the Pridnestrovian Volunteer Legions in ESTORVIPA. She could actually be charged with treason for fighting for another sovereign nation but the SFA has pulled favors with the Ministry of Justice to delay her trial until the end of the Independents Cup.

GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 26 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women Image
Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

RB: Queen YARNALL 23 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image
A quiet and sturdy defender who for her age is already making waves not only in the youth leagues but also in her handful of appearances for the Admiral Porcusces Women senior team. Still needs some work obviously but she could have a very high ceiling indeed.

CB: Brooke AUGUSTYN 27 y/o, Dinamo Bender Women Image (Pridnestrovia)
Augustyn didn't exactly become one of the best fullbacks to come out of Abanhfleft, but at least her career wasn't sidelined by too many injuries either. After a decent showing with Eielo Sunlight Women, she made the leap to Pridnestrovia and Dinamo Bender Women where she did well enough to make her way back to the national team.

CB: Tiera WALRATH 25 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image
One quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won them the Youth Premier League title this season. Like Wilton Kaba beside her in the under-18 team, Tiera's main purpose is to win balls inside the box and then kick it right out of the danger area. Accuracy needs a bit of work though.

LB: Tien GOODLETT 24 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image
The second quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won the Youth Premier League. Tien is more of an attacking fullback who likes to maraud further up the pitch and assist in the attack. She still gets back in defense more times than not but a particularly quick counterattack could still leave her stranded where she can be of no help to her fellow defenders.

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 24 y/o, Athletic Motonou Image
SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Sibusizwe won't have to do that against older and experienced players from other national teams just yet, but she will have to do it against her fellow under-18s from other countries starting from this tournament.

CM: Abigail PAPADIAMANTOPOULOS 33 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image
Abigail is the tallest player in this roster at 6 feet 8 inches, taller than even her supposed lookalike Stephanie Bryan. Abigail used to play Sunday league with Anglatia's Ross Port Rangers before Fleftic scouts noticed her during the 38th Di Bradini Cup and she signed a contract with Wallace Partridge's All-Inclusive Haranguer. Partridge chose to sign Abigail due to her size and her playstyle which is very much reminiscent of one of the most famous (if not the best) players to put on the black-and-amber shirt in Sutalen "The Beast of Copper Cuprum" Desoka. Despite helping All-Inclusive Haranguer to a fifth-place finish in the 2022-23 season, she was never called up for Anglatia's national team, and with the country now returning to its policy of total isolation, Abigail was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann so the SFA could take advantage of her skills on the pitch.

LM: Charlene WILLIAMSON 27 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image
Charlene Williamson is the overlooked twin sister of Gareth Williamson. The reasons why she's been overlooked is because her main assets in football are mostly pace, acceleration, physicality, and a good long ball. Charlene can also run with the ball or chase it for 90 minutes and anyone stupid enough to try to take the ball away from her would find themselves on the ground almost immediately. Strangely though, Charlene's physicality tends to vanish during set pieces and Charlene could now count herself lucky if she doesn't end up kissing the grass while trying to get a touch on a corner or a free kick. Perhaps that's why Sporting Ceneisis allowed her to go to their provincial rivals Admiral Porcusces.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 26 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs Image
Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup. She is the younger sister of Julius Woodward and her future appears to be in central attacking midfield. Prudence is already displaying a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. Prudence has also been rumored to be displaying more than just friendly attention and camaraderie with the team's resident lesbian Poppaea Fleet-Street but that's hardly important to the conversation. But although nothing has been confirmed yet, it could be said that it won't be much of a surprise if Prudence came out and admitted that she has a relationship with Poppaea. Also already a mother after an argument with Prudence led to a one-night stand with fellow under-18 teammate Prince William Luckless.

FW: Annamarie SABADO 31 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Women Image
Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the Independents Cup, Heinrich Wurzmann and Miriam Whitaker look to do the same with her for the coming tournament.

FW: Hiroko KELLERMAN 20 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women Image
Kellerman won the Golden Boot in the Fleftic Premier Development League 1 with a 23-goal haul in the 2028-29 season, earning her a promotion up to the senior women's team where she continued her goalscoring form with 21 goals for 2029-30, making her the highest goalscorer of the Citizens that season. She earned a call-up to the under-21 team for the 48th Di Bradini Cup, where she was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disastrous campaign which once again convinced the SFA to boycott the Di Bradini Cup for real and permanently this time.

Even though they were supposed to be going home early, the Squidroidian national team, like in IAX and BoF 73, already had their numbers dialed and proceeded to run with it. The reason was simple: They went ahead and beat Geektopia, and to be fair to them a Geektopia that previously lost to Valladares, who were the top seed in their group. They lost to the 2nd lowest seed in their group.

Looking around at the other tables, it wasn't even the biggest shock of the first 2 matchdays of the Cup of Harmony. Group E, the aforementioned group of death, was where the biggest surprise happened. Krytenia, experienced veterans of losing semi-finals in major competitions, lost to Murphtannia in the groups. Krytenia, a veteran of decades of international competition, got an L on Matchday 1 to a team that joined in at the very last minute. Minnows to giants, as they say. The former doesn't usually beat the latter, but when it does it makes for a good story. Like Electrum drawing to a team of Slusus and one Dave.

The story of game 3 of Matchday 2 of Group D between the giants of Geektopia and the minnows of Squidroidia started with a kick from Picolet. The Geektopian forward kicked the ball, of course, forwards to the net, being saved by Kyushichi in the 8th minute. For the start of the game, it was a really pedestrian shot to save for the 36 year old. Of course, this was only the start.

The next real highlight of the game happened at the 68th minute. Before that all the 2 teams tried to do was not even be successful at hitting the back of the net. That all changed, however, when the Squidroidians attacked. You see, Shiko was substituted in the 60th for this squid kid, a girl named Henriette Brooks. The number 73 proceeded to launch a counter attack after intercepting Szczerbinski's ball. She would race up the pitch at Chamberley, the ball finding Squidroidian captain Itoh Hoshi, the endo (Back) of his boots tipping the ball in the back of the net to take the lead for his side.

Geektopia would respond back in the 80th minute, converting a free kick by Sudlow thanks to a header by Picolet, bouncing off both posts before tip-toeing across the line to equalize for their team. But the biggest highlight of the game happened 2 minutes later, as young striker Makino Hideo raced up the pitch for the Inklings, passing the ball back and forward between himself and Kiichi in the box, cross after cross, seemingly playing a game of keepie uppie. That was, of course, until someone would shoot. That someone was, of course, Hideo. Getting into the center of the box to stop this monotony, he volleyed the ball with his leg, striking the ball into the corner to get Squidroidia the 3 points.

This was, of course, only the first game. Squidroidia had to go and face Kohnhead next matchday to see if this Geektopia game was really a fluke. If it wasn't, well... They would probably have to make another deep run. Nobody knows if that's possible yet, but beating Kohnhead would make everything more clear.

Knattspyrnusamband Græntfjalls criticized for accepting friendly with Yuezhou

The decision of Knattspyrnusamband Græntfjalls to accept a pre-Cup of Harmony friendly with the Yuezhou national team has met with harsh criticism from Foreign Minister Kaija Michaelsdóttir, in a growing sign of the ructions threatening to tear apart the coalition government. Breaking with senior partners the Blue-Green Alliance, Michaelsdóttir confirmed that the match had been arranged over her head and without her consent, and said that had she been consulted, she would not have permitted the team to travel to Yuezhou for the game. “The Blue-Greens are always talking about the great threat of communism and yet when it suits them to play a little ‘whalemeat and glima’* they’re perfectly happy to cosy up to an oppressive foreign regime,” said the straight-talking Michaelsdóttir in an angry declamation on the floor of the Thing.

Græntfjall and Yuezhou played twice during World Cup 86 qualifying, leading to KG defending the friendly as a ‘decider’ after the games were split with one apiece. Nonetheless, at a time of great pressure on the Yincheng government to deal with separatists movements and allegations of politicization of the selection process for the national team, giving the Red Dragons the legitimacy of a visit from the Snow Wolves seems to undermine the trenchant anti-communism of the Blue-Green Alliance. The Liberal-Conservative Alliance joined with the Progressive Liberals in criticizing the decision, and even the Left-slate issued a statement decrying the “use of football to further political ends” without making specific reference to the situation in Yuezhou.

In the end, the political controversy proved slightly more interesting than the match at the Yincheng National Workers' Stadium, which ended in a tame 1 – 1 draw. Jason Þórhallursson gave Græntfjall an early lead with a nicely taken shot curled off his right foot, but thereafter both teams defaulted to defensive football. An eventual equalizer came off the head of Ralf Álfarsson, into his own net. The main talking point on the field was a revolving look at the various center back options to replace Vilbjörn Hjörleifursson, with Hilmar Farmansson impressing the most with his work rate and aerial ability. Otherwise, the trip may well be seen as something of a wasted opportunity for the Snow Wolves – but as something more for a government partnership straining its own credibility.

Snow Wolves lose Leonardsson to injury, Vilbertsdóttir to ‘personal matters’

Alexander Leonardsson’s streak of having played every minute of Græntfjaller international footballer came to an abrupt end at half-time in the opening clash of the Cup of Harmony tournament in Sylestone as the goalkeeper limped into the tunnel and did not emerge for the second half. Fabian Snæþórsson found himself thrust into an unanticipated international debut, and after the game learned he would be taking the #1 jersey for the remainder of the tournament as it was announced that Leonardsson would be travelling home immediately for surgery on his knee. In a further blow, it was then confirmed by team management that left back Emeli Vilbertsdóttir would be joining Leonardsson on the plane and would take no further part in the tournament, although the reasons for her abrupt departure, only vaguely alluded to as ‘personal matters’ by team management, remain shrouded in mystery as rumors of an incident at a nightclub in the city of Kirkham swirl.

The twin blows of losing the team’s first-choice goalkeeper and left-back could not overshadow a largely successful opening round of games for the Snow Wolves, which saw them hold Group A favorites Mercedini to a 2 – 2 draw. Their performance gave head coach Sigtryggur Brynjólfursson cause for satisfaction. “I think we played an excellent game and can be very proud of how we turned out under some unforeseen circumstances,” said Brynjólfursson after the match. “Personnel changes like this are unavoidable in a tournament setting, and now we just have to concentrate on the players who are here, rather than worrying about those flying home.” Mercedini had more shots on goal and the bulk of the possession, but Græntfjall’s stifling defense won – or at least drew – the day, once more vindicating Brynjólfursson’s tactics. “We are pleased to take a point off Mercedini; they are a strong side, former Cup winners and third in the last edition, so we knew they would be tough,” he said. “Of course we would have loved three points but a draw like that showed a lot of effort all over the pitch from everyone. A good team effort – I’m very satisfied.”

Leonardsson’s injury diagnosis has not been publicly revealed, but clearly relates to his left knee, on which he landed heavily following a surprisingly acrobatic save from the never-knowingly-airborne Gunzlach keeper, denying a sharp header by Mercedini striker Ben Chillotov. Chillotov certainly put Leonardsson through his paces in the first half, and forced two good saves, but after the second Leonardsson was extremely slow to rise and spent the remainder of the half limping forlornly about his goal area. Hopes that some strapping and a dose of ‘magic spray’ in the half-time break might revive him were proved for naught as Drumchapel United keeper Fabian Snæþórsson was seen warming up, and duly took the field as an injury replacement. Snæþórsson was soon forced into action on his debut, and made a good save to tip over a Daniel Dostalok volley.

Debatably, the change was responsible for Mercedini’s second goal, which briefly gave them the second-half lead. While Snæþórsson made his saves with aplomb, he was less confident communicating with his back line than the voluble Leonardsson, and confusion reigned as an inch-perfect Thomas Di Sansev cross split the defense and ended up on the head of Chillotov – finally rewarded for his hard work – who this time could not fail to direct it into the net past an unmoving Snæþórsson. It was an unfortunate moment for the experienced defender Ralf Álfarsson, who otherwise made a good showing alongside his new partner, Hilmar Farmansson. Otherwise, though, Snæþórsson performed creditably under the circumstances. Given Leonardsson’s age and the potential seriousness of a knee injury requiring surgery, he may need to fill in for more than just this tournament. “We’re not making any comment on that,” said Brynjólfursson, “But we’re very pleased with how Fabian performed under pressure.”

The chief architects of the draw for Græntfjall were midfielder Amanda Guttisdóttir and forward Jason Þórhallursson. Guttisdóttir played a tireless game in central midfield, with only flashes of skill but plenty of grit and resolve, to force Mercedini, who otherwise dominated possession, into several turnovers. “Her tackling and tracking back was great,” said midfield partner Hrærekur Jvarsson. “She ran them around for the whole ninety minutes and never gave them room to put together any flowing moves.” Conversely, Þórhallursson rarely left the opposing penalty area and showed little interest in providing assistance to his under-pressure defense, but was on hand to take with clinical calm the two chances that came his way. He opened scoring, giving the Snow Wolves an unexpected lead, with a cleverly taken flick header as he sprinted onto a speculative chipped through-ball from Guttisdóttir. Mercedini regained parity eight minutes later when Johannes Nymark lashed in a spectacular 20 yard effort from the outside of his boot, and the own goal gave them the lead, but Þórhallursson levelled things again, once more with his head, turning in a Bríana Noahsdóttir free-kick. His emphatic celebrations brought a yellow card and a literal slap on the head from assistant coach Særún Toresdóttir as he was substituted, but he had done enough to ensure the Snow Wolves came away with a valuable point.

BAN THIS SICK FILTH NOW!
Left back leaves team after steamy nightclub romp

SHAMED Folte left-back Emeli Vilbertsdóttir left the Snow Wolves training camp at the Cup of Harmony IN TEARS last night after it emerged that she had been caught in a wild romp with a SAPIENT TROUSER PRESS!!! Vilbertsdóttir has been sent home IN DISGRACE and will play no further part in the Cup of Harmony, leaving coach Sigtryggur Brynjólfursson scrabbling around for a replacement – and the rest of us wondering just WHAT she was thinking!!!

Several Græntfjaller players went out drinking in the Kirkham following their 2 – 2 draw with Mercedini, and were pictured at a local nightclub popular with the OBJECTS that live in the strange city! But a bit of harmless socializing went too far as Vilbertsdóttir and a “particularly hunky” steam press ended up misting up the mirrors in the bathrooms together!!! “Emeli was ALL OVER him,” said one witness.

A SOBBING Vilbertsdóttir apologized and said she had “just been trying to iron out a crease in my dress”. Tell another one luv, we’ve all heard THAT before!!! Her dismissal from the squad comes hot on the heels of a STERN reminder from Brynjólfursson to treat the Kirkham residents with respect. “I don’t want anyone getting frisky with a leafblower,” said the disciplinarian coach. “Even if it’s a really pretty leafblower. Really pretty.”

Fortunately the Snow Wolves made it through their game with Pluvia and the Saxean Isles without the services of the steam-press-canoodling full-back, and Else Svennsdóttir filled in dependably – though reserve left midfielder Matthias Raphaelsson, raised some eyebrows while celebrating Jason Þórhallursson’s goal as he seemed to BLOW A KISS to a TWO-IN-ONE-SCANNER-SHREDDER in the crowd! Be careful which setting she’s on, Matty!!!

If our boys and girls in blue-and-white can manage to keep their hands off the appliances, they’ll next be up against Delaclava and Blouman Empire, two teams they MUST take some points off before their tricky final games against Tequilo and Ethane. Let’s just hope replacements Kauko Jorgesson and Ásgautur Johannesson don’t get too excited by the in-flight catalogue as they fly in to fill in for the squad’s departing members!!!

Mixed start to life in the Cup of Harmony

Postby Murphtannia » Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:48 am

Match day 1

Bill "Hello and welcome to the 78th Cup of Harmony!, I'm your commentator, Bill and I'll be covering Murphtannia's first game of their first ever cup of Harmony entry, against Krytenia.

Some would say Murphtannia has gotten unlucky when it comes to group draws, with the WC group being very tough and now being drawn into Group E, the group of death, but in the WC Murphtannia proved they can be the best and beat the best, with the upset away win to Mercedini and Savojorna particular highlights.

Krytenia are veterans and have a history of semi finals, and everything from the managers interview to the way the fans hold themselves suggests that this should be an easy 3 points for Krytenia, but Murphy in a rare press conference (as he usually sends his assistant manager), detailed the confidence he has in his squad, "Look, we surprised a lot of people with our 6th placed finish, I have a talented squad and I have faith that they will go on to deliver success to Murphtannia in the near future".

When asked if he was going to play defensive against a better side he said "No I won't be doing that all, Krytenia might have more experience but Murphtannia beat 2 top teams away in the WC, I'll be playing my usual style of entertaining football that got me hired."

Murphy does have a good reason to have faith in his squad, with talents such as Murphy (different player same last name), who is Murphtannia's all time leading goal scorer and captain at just 17.

With the pre match talk done let's begin with your live commentary, as Murphtannia and Krytenia go head to head."

[Kick off]

[10th minute] The Krytenia Striker is running through on goal, they shoot and what a save! Ball just about gets his hand to the ball to tip it over the bar. The game kicks off again Krytenia 0-0 Murphtannia

[30th minute] Murphy is running in on goal, he decides to take the shot from outside the box but it sails harmlessly over the crossbar.

[Half time Krytenia 0 Murphtannia 0] "Well that was an even half, not many chances being created from Murphtannia but they have kept Krytenia at bay and can be proud of that performance, but can they build from it and find the winner? meanwhile Krytenia have had their fair share of chances but they'll need to be more clinical if they are going to get the 3 points expected of them tonight."

[Kick off - Second Half]

[47th minute] Styler has found some space here, he passes it to Cartlidge on the edge of the box, Cartlidge is showing some superb hold up play here, the Krytenia defense are leaving it to 1 man to mark him, why aren't they all swarming him and killing the chance?, wait Jenkins is making a run in behind, Cartlidge chips the ball over the man marking him, the other defender isn't running to get it, instead he lunges, oh and hes missed.

Jenkins gets the ball, inside the box, the keeper isn't coming out to claim it, Jenkins shoots and WHAT A GOALLLLLLLLLL, GOAL GOAL GOAL GOALLL!!!!!, JENKINS PUTS HIS FOOT THROUGH THE BALL AND SENDS IT FLYING RIGHT INTO THE TOP CORNER, THE KEEPER COULDN'T REACT, THE MURPHTANNIA FANS ARE GOING CRAZY, IT'S A WONDERFUL DAY FOR THE COUNTRY AS THEY LOOK TO ADD KRYTENIA TO THE LOST OF GIANT KILLINGS.

It was lazy defending that has cost Krytenia there and the manager will be fuming with that. We kick off again Krytenia 0 Murphtannia 1

[60th minute] Krytenia are looking to create space here, but the defense has been rock solid, as soon as the striker gets the ball he is swarmed by 3 defenders who close him down and take away any passing opportunity, he tries to chip Pallet but he easily jumps to catch the ball. Krytenia are struggling to create chances all of a sudden, it looks like Murphy has changed the system to go more defensive and hold onto the lead.

[80th minute] Can Krytenia find a late equalizer and possibly winner here? the fans are getting on their backs in what will be without a doubt a very shocking win for Murphtannia. The striker gets the ball but plays it quickly for fear of being swarmed again, but the rushed cross just finds Hayes, who has just been subbed on for Bridges after an average performance at RWB.

[91st minute] We are into the last minute of added time, this is Krytenia last chance, the winger makes a break into the box but Banks brings him down, everyone is calling for a penalty, IT'S GIVEN!, Krytenia have a penalty in the last seconds of the game, wait the ref is going over to the VAR screen, FREE KICK, the screen shows the challenge was outside the box, but this is still a dangerous area.

The Krytenia player goes up to take the kick, WHAT A SAVE, Ball makes a superb save to keep it at 1-0.

[Full time - Murphtannia 1 Krytenia 0] "Well what a game for Murphtannia to start their CoH campaign, we are starting to get a habit of giant killings, Krytenia will receive some flack for this loss, it isn't a good sign for a team trying to get to the Semi Finals, for Murphtannia however it's the perfect start and perhaps they are now turning some heads, and showing not to right us off to early, the next game is against Tikatriot and if they play like they did today they should have no problems, this was Bill, thanks for tuning in."

HUElavia Start the CoH with a Bittersweet Draw!

HUElavia 1–1 Ziwana
(Navarro 7' | REDACTED 84')
(Marianne Detreux Stadium, Southern Hampton)

HUElavia began their 2nd Appearance in the Cup of Harmony, their 4th straight appearance in a major tournament, facing off against Ziwana for Matchday 2. Given that they had the rest as the #1 Seed for Group F, HUElavia was now facing off a full-fledged tournament. For this match, it was played at Marianne Detreux Stadium (21,115), in Southern Hampton. The relatively small stadium (for HUElavian standards) was mainly filled with HUElavians, who accounted for 60% of the crowd. Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos were fielding their best XI, with Lobato as the starting Goalkeeper, while Cristiano was the Captain. The ball was kicked off, and the Cup of Harmony was underway for Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos.

The match was mainly dominant for HUElavia, as they showed their skill over Ziwana. The opening goal came in the 7th minute, when new debutant Sakaguchi went one-on-one with REDACTED by the corner flag, where she sent a curving cross in, which Navarro towered over REDACTED to head the ball over a diving REDACTED and into the goal to make it 1-0. The crowd erupted, with the HUElavians jumping with passion and joy, making the stadium rumble, while Navarro celebrated with his teammates and shared a hug and kiss with his girlfriend, Hamada. HUElavia would continue going in, and getting shots left and right, but REDACTED would make saves to prevent the ball from going into the goal. The front trio of Cristiano, Hamada, and Navarro would try and try, but to no avail. Even the midfielders of Duran, Sakaguchi, and Rossi could not get the ball into the goal. The first half ended 1-0, and the HUElavians felt like something better can happen. The second half came, and it was more of the same, HUElavia just giving shots and crosses left and right, but they'd get blocked by the goalie or defenders, or go out wide. They'd pay for this late in the game, as in the 84th minute, a cross by REDACTED went into the box, where Fernandez tried to clear it, but it landed to REDACTED, who gave a blast that went past Lobato and into the goal to make it 1-1. The Ziwana supporters erupted with joy while the HUElavians were frustrated, and once kick off came, HUElavia went deep into attack. Alas, it was not enough, as Ziwana held out, and the match ended 1-1, which was the first point earned by HUElavia in its history for the Cup of Harmony.

The next matches will also be at Marianne Detreux Stadium, in Southern Hampton, where Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos will play against Indusse, with the B-Team playing, Ramos as the starting goalie, and Conti as the Captain. Then, it will be against Electrum with the A-Team playing and Lobato in goal and Cristiano as the Captain. Fans hope and pray that the team can improve, as they sit in 3rd Place and need to rack up victories before facing the main two competition for the group, Astograth and South Newlandia. Here's to hoping the the team performs well and gets their first ever victories in the Cup of Harmony.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

It's difficult to use revenge as a motivating tool. Sometimes, you get so wrapped up in trying to exact revenge that you lose sight of more important matters.

Not so for the Sarzonian national football team. The Stars went into their opening match against Yuezhou looking for revenge, but they had more basic motivators in mind as well.

"Number one, we can't afford to get off to a slow start in the Cup of Harmony even less than we could afford it in an 18-match World Cup qualifying campaign," manager Kevin Connelly said. "We knew we had to figure out their trap and we knew we had to get a result, and that was more important than revenge for us."

Consider their mission accomplished. The Stars got a goal from midfielder Brady Reynolds, the man most publicly frustrated by the Yuezhou trap, in the 78th minute and Sarzonia finally earned a full three points against Yuezhou with a 1-0 result. The Stars also got another match they felt they desperately needed for their own psyche against TJUN-ia, as the Stars were involved in a match with the Jaguars in the 76th Cup of Harmony that turned an ugly two-goal deficit into a miraculous comeback. This time, no miracles were needed, and the Stars defeated the Jaguars 2-0. Sarzonia now sit level with their next opponents Mavinet at 2-0-0 in Group D in the Sylestone region.

"We really needed to get off to a strong start," Reynolds said. "Yuezhou frustrated us both times in World Cup qualifying and we needed to get a result against them. We knew we couldn't afford to just rest on our laurels, though. They proved they're an outstanding side as we found out the hard way."

The Stars may have found out the hard way, but they now know they still have no room for error, as was their mantra during World Cup qualifying. This time, however, it's a six-match group stage before a potential Round of 32 matchup in what will be Connelly's final cycle as Sarzonia manager.

The Incorporated Football Federation have reportedly interviewed Sarzonia Under 21 national team manager Nathan Hanifer and Megistos Under 18 national team bench boss Nicola Mentes. Sarzonia may also consider elevating former Franz Braddock protege Diogo Avarel, who currently manages the Sarzonian under 18 national team manager. Over-35 national team manager Tyrone Manningham has ruled himself out of consideration for the regular national team.

"I'm a little bit old, and I think we want to move younger from Kevin," he said. "Nathan would be a good choice. Nicola would be. So would Diogo. I'm not exactly a spring chicken."

IBIXAN PIECES

Part VII: Audience

Professor James Golightly and Doctor Sam Fisher, accompanied by a pair of imposing looking security staff, made their way through the public galleries of the Witting Hall and towards the private ministerial offices.
"I still can't believe you managed to get an audience with the Prime Minister." Sam whispered, clearly still working his head around their current situation.
"Let's just say it pays to keep in touch with your college buddies." James said with a smirk.

Charles Linton, Prime Minister of Krytenia, welcomed the two learned men into his office. "I understand you have some ideas on the Ibixa situation."
"Indeed. I know we've been trying to properly colonise the area for years - I don't think the Ibexi particularly care as long as they go about their business -"
"Exactly," Sam interjected, "as long as their indigenous rights aren't infringed, they really don't mind who's calling the shots."
James continued. "The big issue is the climate. Now here's the thing; for a desert, Ibixa isn't that arid. Sure, there aren't many natural rivers, but with the tropical systems coming in off the Sea of Vilita, there's at least some rain. With the right irrigation, there's scope for converting a fair amount of the protectorate to arable land. Except...the southerly drifts. You know why things changed so disastrously?"
The PM looked at James, and entertained the loaded question. "You know you want to tell me. Out with it."
"Basically, the Ibexi screwed the pooch with resource management. Completely destroyed the southern hills, allowing the sands free reign to drift north and choke the soil. Which is where our solution comes in. Groynes!"
Mr. Linton looked at the professor, blinked twice, and let out a flat "What." Groins?
"You know, those things they have on beaches to stop lateral erosion. Build a few decently strong walls, use groynes to deflect the sand, and presto! One plugged Ibixa. Then all we need to do is clear the existing sand."
"I suppose you have an idea for that, too."
"I do indeed. You'd be surprised how many industries need sand in bulk..."
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."

Sylestone 3-1 The Jovannic
Sylestone's first Cup of Harmony outing was against arch-rivals The Jovannic, and what a way to start. A 3-1 victory put the Appliances in first place after the first day. The Mixer's hattrick led the way, and the Jovannic's only goal came in the 84th minute after Sylestone were already 3-0 up. It was an astounding win that really sent their confidence soaring.
The Mixer struck early on in the sixth minute with a curling shot that was meant to be a pass. It spun wildly, rebounded off the right post and went into the goal to put Sylestone ahead early on. They strengthened that lead when the Bar Stool was fouled by Kallin Yustat very close to the goal. He passed the penalty to the Mixer who slotted it home. So after only 19 minutes, Sylestone were already 2-0 up and going strong. But then, just before half-time, the Mixer intercepted the ball after a stray pass and scored an easy goal, completely fooling Mavin Tsuniki in goals.
Sylestone's 3-0 lead began to stagnate after half-time as they preferred to play possession football. It looked to work, too, until the 83rd minute when Sami Ning nearly scored, only to be stopped by a brilliant Ironing Board. The resulting corner was also taken by Ning and when the ball hit Stockain Lelop's head and deflected to the back of the net, the score was 3-1. Despite the Jovannic's efforts, that too was how it stayed.

SYLESTONE - 3
Mixer 6', 19' (P), 45'

THE JOVANNIC - 1
Stockain Lelop 84'

Sylestone 1-4 Krytenia
Sylestone went into the game against Krytenia brimming with confidence after their excellent showing against The Jovannic, but Krytenia were simply too good. They dominated the Appliances throughout the entire game, not giving them anything. From being 2-1 down at half-time, they pushed them and it was 4-1 at the end of the 90 minutes. Sylestone's memories of that spectacular 1-0 win in the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy were washed clean.
Krytenia attacked from the outset, scoring goals in the 3rd and 8th minutes. The first goal was scored by James Aitken, pressing forward and breaking through the right-hand side of the defence. Then in the eighth Oliver Alexander crossed the ball into the penalty area only for it to hit the Drawer and fling into the goal. This accidental own goal focussed the Appliances, who began to start pushing a few back at the Krytenians. Finally, in the 38th minute, a cross from the Fridge hit the Bar Stool, who knocked the ball into the bottom right of the net. 2-1 to Krytenia.
Only one goal down at half-time were promising signs for Sylestone, especially when they bombarded the Krytenian defence during the first 20 minutes of the second half. However, they eventually began to tire and Alexander scored two goals in the 72nd and 77th minutes to put four goals under Krytenia's name. One was struck so powerfully that it very nearly literally went through the Brick Wall. The rebound caught the knee and went in. So 4-1 it was, extremely un-ideal. Sylestone dropped from first to sixth in one Matchday, but they are still equal on points with first place in a bit of a clusterfuck. The next couple of games against Tikariot and Twicetagria will be vital to assure progression.

Jared Sednah, President of the FA, Declares Himself Manager
GOLD COAST, NORTHWEST KALACTIN-Jared Sednah, the president of the Kalactanian FA has decided to take matters into his own hands regarding the current state of team.

The Kalactanian team has been left without a manager for multiple weeks now, and Sednah was clearly unpatient regarding that. He has succeeded unsuccessful manager, the Ethani Damon Schecter just days before the Kalactanian team travels to Sylestone for the first matches of the Cup of Harmony.

The team will face the Springmont National Team in the first match of their Cup of Harmony run, which may be one of the easiest matches out of their tough run to make it to the Knockout Stages of the Cup once again.

Sednah was one of the most unhappy people with Schecter regarding the results, and he hopes to “take the team to another level” and “overfill the small shoes that Schecter left for the team. Sednah has experience playing under Schecter, during the 80 and 81st World Cup runs.

Schecter is only 39 years old, and is one of the youngest managers across the multiverse, with little experience managing. Sednah has said “I may not have the experience of a regular manager, but I am a Kalactanian legend, and all the players will love me.”

It is reported that Sednah appointed himself as manager, and did not consult with the FA before giving himself the job. A FA member said “I didn’t know Sednah was appointing himself as manager, and I don’t think anyone else did either.”

We do not know the exact contract numbers, but it is said that Sednah has given himself a 13 cycle, $503 Million Deal, averaging 38.6 Million Dollars a cycle, with the intent to “give himself a motivation to perform better under the pressure of being a manager.”

This deal has been reported as “massive” and “over the top” by reporters, but Sednah thinks it is all fine, having said “Where do you think I bought my own Mansion from? I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t my salary!”

We interviewed FA Head of Player Development Martin Davis about it: “Hold on, Sednah is the manager? Who in the world thought that was a good idea?!? I don’t think he will last long in the position though, he knows nothin about managing a group of grown men and Thomas Butler. To be completely honest, we should fire whoever approved that change”

Sednah’s Twii.tur account made some tweets, it is unclear who exactly made them though.

@Jared Sednah
-LOL NERDS. Guess who just got themselves the job of Kalactanian Manager! Trust me, I will get us a Three Peat, don’t worry.

Jared Sednah

@Jared Sednah
-btw any FA members that want me to fuck off as manager will get fired.

When we asked Sednah if it was him or if he got hacked, he said this:

“What! I have a password, they can’t hack me when my account has a password.”

Anyways, most of us have the same opinion on this: There is no way in the world this will end well.

Football Federation of Huayramarca

Official Roster for the 78th Cup of Harmony

About Huayramarca: The Plurinational State of Huayramarca, also known as ”Huayramarca Mamallaqta” in Quechua and ”Huayramarca Suyu” in Aymara (literally: Windy Country), is an extraordinarily diverse nation in terms of geography that’s located up north Atlantian Oceania. Crossing three time zones, from the coasts to the jungle, passing massive cordilleras such as the Andes and Sierra, a nation with 36 million inhabitants that belong to 9 different ethnical groups.

Huayramarca as such is a relatively new nation for the traditional standards of it, since it was constituted on 1822 (currently, we sit on 1981 according to the Inca Calendar), the main focus of building this nation was to help different ethnic groups to gather force into the region, in order to be recognized multiversally as a nation, hence, may gather some international protection in case their rights would be abused all of a sudden by an external force.

Being completely ignorant on what was happening on the neighborhood, the Aymara, Quechua, Shuar, Guarani, Montubio, Tsáchila, Huaorani, Andoa and Candoshi ethnics decided to form the Republic with the support of neighboring nations such as the Royal Kingdom of Québec. Migration from Québec happened in the late XIX century, mostly peoples known as ”Guayabalenses” decided to move in order to seek a stable place for their families, considering that their home soil was apparently brushed off the map by a dictator called “Gregory”. That last point forced the Huayramarcans into a stronger union in order to survive.

Until the middle XX century, Huayramarca managed to survive economically from llama, alpaca and vicuña herding, since its skins are highly valuable in neighboring Québec due to their strong winters; also, coffee production helped Huayramarca to build some solid institutions that promoted national expansion near the neighboring Cocoabo Forest, that place is “La Selva”, a lush but quite dangerous forest with hundreds of rivers that come from the Andes. After some years of exploration, the authorities met the first indigenous peoples of the zone, which were exploited in order to produce rubber for tires and some mysterious chickens that were provided in order to even more mysterious sacrifices to a deity, which the local people and even the rest of Huayramarca wasn’t able to understand how she works, granted, it’s not even a part of the Incan Mythology which includes Inti (the Sun god) and others.

Said abuses committed against the jungle inhabitants caused a heavy political turmoil around 1950, which formed a divide in the nation that still remains until today: Serranos (highlanders), Costeños (coastals) against selváticos(jungle inhabitants); Those divides weren’t noticeable in economic terms but politically, with constant attempts of coup ‘d etat against the government. That situation caused some issues with the neighboring Québec, who neglected to support financially any of those groups if they don’t manage to cooperate between themselves in order to provide prosperity to a heavily hunger-suffering nation back in the time.

Aymara and Quechua peoples took the power during the remaining part of the 50’s until 1969. On that period, Huayramarca suffered a lot of “huaycos” (mudslides) caused by heavy rain storms near the Andes and Sierra, those events killed at least 300,000 people and urged for an attempt to reincorporate Huayramarca back into normality, but, how? The main bet of the government was to aim for the tourism industry, spamming the developed nations of Atlantian Oceania in order to make some tourists visit sacred places such as Illimani (a mountain that’s devoted as god for the Aymara folk), Huayna Picchu (the royal Incan palace for Quechua) and the sun drenched coast ranging from Guayaquil to Lima (specially Montañita, the best beach par excellence in northern Atlantian Oceania).

The formula was working decently, since the economy was reporting high growth numbers, but seemed to cause some lack of satisfaction on certain zones of the country, specially on the Jungle. Their inhabitants decided to support the Costeño elite in order to beat the Serrano government. 1969 election would be marked for the Huayramarcan history by the magnitude of the sabotage made against the current government, to the point of bribery or killings for their supporters, those incidents made the Costeño elite take control of government and focus even more on the Coast and Jungle, leaving aside the Sierra.

Currently, Huayramarca has a huge wealth gap between zones, the coast boasts the fact of being the economical engine of the nation despite the fact that the capital city is in the Sierra Region, while the Jungle is slowly developing with some cities such as Ormeño, Madre Santa, Virú and several others boosted by oil findings and rubber production. Sierra may be in disadvantage, but recent developments in neighboring nations may make them turn relevant once again in the nation, since lithium batteries demand is growing up and Huayramarca’s Sierra possesses one of the biggest lithium reserves of the entire multiverse.

Basically, Huayramarca is a nation of contrasts and never—ending conflicts that’s well into the deep borehole named “the natural resource course” a hard situation to overcome due to the lack of proper education, critical thinking and result-focused mindset on the population, that constantly seeks for shelter in entertainment industries such as soap operas, music, and now football. Right now, power struggles between the Costeño government led by Hugo Mina and leftist pro-Serrano social movement “Ñucanchi Ñan” is making people more fond into football, since they really need an oxygen supply inbetween a lot of crisis and turmoil that could lead to the radicalization of this conflict, to the point of seeing Ñucanchi Ñan turning into a guerrilla, which would turn things darker for the Huayramarcan people.

Facts about the nation

Official Name: Estado Plurinacional de Huayramarca - Huayramarcan Plurinational State.
Motto: Unión y Libertad - Union and Freedom.
National Anthem: Noble Huayramarca, tu hermosa bandera.
Capital City: Huayramarca D.M. (Distrito Metropolitano) - Huayramarcan Metropolitan District.
Highest Point: Nevado Inti (7,920 masl)
Currency: Inti (I$ 1 = N$ 0.33)
Languages: Spanish, Quechua, Aymara (main); Six other indigenous languages.

Football-wise Information: As a society, Huayramarcans enjoy sports a lot, specially when politics may turn the nation into a chaos every second, they just want to run away from that horrible and desperate situation and may try luck on football.

Considering the levels of poverty on Huayramarca, many young people may give a shot for football in the chaotic Liga 1 or lower tiers, with the hopes of achieving a decent salary that may help their families to get away from poverty and huayco-prone neighborhoods. Liga 1 has fourteen teams from different parts of the country, mostly focused on the Sierra and Costa regions since those are the most heavily populated ones.

In the last year, the president of the Plurinational State, Hugo Mina (Costeño), thought it would be a great idea to form a fringe squad for the AOCAF and then try to make it into Baptism of Fire or World Cup Qualifiers, hence he asked for Eliezer González (head of the Huayramarcan Football Federation) to try and apply for said tournaments. He sent notes in order to sign-up for those events, but he sent them incorrectly, at AOCAF, he sent it to a grandmother living up near the Andean Organization for Coffee, Agriculture and Forests (located at Cumbayá) instead of sending it to the proper AOCAF tournament organizing committee, which turned González into laughing stock for several weeks in Huayramarca. Despite that, González managed to sign-up properly for the WC, despite he was rejected for BoF because he applied to the “Burger of Fire” and not the Baptism of Fire.

After all, the HFF managed to convince 25 players from the amateur-ish Liga 1 sides to build the National Team, whose nickname is resumed to “Kuntur” (The Condors), all those players range from being high school students, to chemists, bus drivers, and even people from the local tavern, whose preference is revealed on how they named their team “Real Ebriedad”, which was later supported by Cristalina, the main brewery firm from Huayramarca. Those 25 players decided to investigate some football techniques and decided to apply them at the different games they played on the inaugural Liga 1 season that was won by Real Ebriedad (in a game where corruption was noticeable as how the referee was given beer instead of an energetic beverage).

Nothing that would be possible without the support of Omar Caicedo, a Costeño who migrated to Québec and decided to learn some football techniques while managing Beyreuth University, where he won three national titles out of eight seasons on his span with them. Caicedo is a fan of high-pressure football, known as “gegenpressing” or “El Huayco” as Huayramarcans may call if (specially Serranos, since they might be quite shy or sometimes plain dumb that doesn’t like to attack) Anyways, Caicedo’s strategy proved right on some matches played by Huayramarca against their northern neighbor, the Royal Kingdom of Québec, beating them 5-1 at Huayramarca’s Estadio Nacional (located at 4,012 masl only?!…) and tying 2-2 at Iqaluit’s Ice Hockey Rink (that’s what the players thought at playing in a frozen city… ¡Achachay!) If you wonder what’s ¡Achachay! Well, figure out you’re on top of the mountain receiving wind and gelid weather right into you, if you did it, welcome to Huayramarcan’s sense of cold shivering!

Well, coming back to football, Caicedo’s devotion for 4-2-3-1 is unquestionable, he always loves to boast of having a neat defense, two defending mid fielders that may aim to recover possession when needed, or even having one of them switching to creative duties in support of the team’s brain, Ian Mamani, then, two wingers feeding the sole striker up in the middle of the box. That striker may often go back and try to recover balls and make a power play from himself with support of a winger and then seek for a goal. He did demonstrated a lot during the first part of the World Cup Qualifiers, earning some mixed results during it, but it failed for a part of the second half, where the team accumulated an 11 winless game streak added that they weren't capable to snatch a win during their first eight local games, in fact, their first home win came at the 9th home game, after that, they won three out of their four last home games, earning a 8 games unbeaten streak to finish off the Qualifiers, which was a quite impressive recovery after having their morale smashed on the floor and some players even considered suicide, since they were considered to be a mediocre living fail walking through their home cities streets.

Said streak wasn’t a mere happening, it was somehow a confirmation on how the Huayramarcan National Team had turned into a squad that tried to consolidate themselves as a hardworking team, with limited chances to put some squads in troubles but capable enough to defend well and to avoid harm being done against them. The Cup of Harmony 77 was an interesting test for the team, to see if they are capable to handle out the nerves of what it implies to be struggling for a knockout spot until the last second of the last match, which is what happened to the Condors, since they tied their first three games, they had a chance to get into the last rounds but they had to face Port Ember, the top seed of their group. Huayramarca succumbed to the nerves and wasted a 2-0 lead to see how Port Ember scored five goals in quick succession, nothing more to do for a Huayramarcan squad that seemed capable to pull off a decent feat.

Something that makes Huayramarcan football so distinguishable is that they are prone to do long range shots, due that they are used to play at significant heights, the lack of oxygen may make the ball travel further without applying a lot of strength during the mechanics of kicking the football, that is known as the “Andean Effect” and may cause serious troubles for visiting sides on Huayramarca, adding the main fact that breathing might be harder for those used to low altitudes.

Without further ado, the starting XI and substitutes are presented in the following tables:

Team mentality: Huayramarcans, per se, are bold and quite diverse between the team due to the regional contrasts among them: You might note some surnames such as: Condori, Mamani, Quispe, Sayritupac, etc. Those are Serrano surnames. Serranos as such are quite shy people with non-serranos, between them, great footballing societies may be made due to their complete understanding of each other, they are quite homogenous on how they act and may be predictable for each other. But, for the non-expert eye, Serranos are one on their kind and could result unpredictable for them, since they love to do things at fast pace between them, without doubt one could send a 60 meters cross with complete confidence that they might find their teammate, with this, you can notice that Serranos are overconfident on themselves and somewhat dubious with Costeños and Selváticos. Other characteristic of Serranos is that they are quite easy to intimidate, being shy and short-sized doesn’t helps, but in that situation, they might opt to act even better than they do for the sake of shutting your mouth.

Costeños and Selváticos (jungle) in the other hand are confident with everybody, even if they might not receive the same treatment by their Serrano fellows. Those two groups conform the rest of the team and might do good societies on field, declining the quality of their chemistry when trying to connect with Serranos, due to the latter shy mood. Physically speaking, Costeño and Selváticos are people who boast being the tallest overall in the team, also, their mania for body preparation at gyms make them suitable to defensive duties and running on the wings since they love running crazily (they usually do that, since they are used to run away from police or a mob of angry Serranos after robbing).

Overall, the team has some issues while trying to build chemistry, since there are two well-marked groups with some issues, but may try to join forces when needed or when they are being heavily massacred (football-wise) such as it happened on World Cup Qualifiers, when they were 3-2-6 on the first half of Qualifiers, they managed to comeback decently with a 5-6-2 sheet for the second leg, turning it into an overall 8-8-8, which is nothing bad for the usual accountability of unranked nations. Leaving aside those issues, the team boasts some decent characteristics for running on the wings, the team itself is fast paced but may have problems while struggling physically (especially if a Serrano is trying to mark) since they aren’t so strong to do that, albeit, the consequences of it may be noticeable only with high-ranked teams.

Cup of Harmony and AOCAF weren't precisely the best participation that Huayramarca could've done, at least they put some decent opposition on the CoH with three tied games and losing the final one, despite they had the chance to get into the knockouts had they won the game against the top seeded side of Port Ember, but two goals were the nail into the coffin for the Condors. Equestrian States, the hosts of AOCAF were the ones ready to face Huayramarca for its debut, a shameful and one that Huayramarca will be likely to skip the page since the hosts drove over the Condors with an astounding 7-1, then, some defeats were complicating Huayramarca and left the side without chance to reach the playoffs, one tied game and the first victory ever of this side against Yesopalitha were the games that somehow let Huayramarca with some dignity and not being able to be the worst team of the tournament.

For the second cycle in World Cup Qualifiers, things will not change and the same squad with the same managing team will try to do a somewhat decent participation in a group that looks as complicated as the last WCQ one did seemed. There's some experience for this side right now, also, their skills might be improving since they are getting the real professional experience rather than the one they could find this year in the inaugural season of the Huayramarcan Liga-1|2|3 system. Caicedo had some hard time during the AOCAF, his head would be on risk in another nation, but being the only one able in Huayramarca to manage a team like this one is a point on his favor, still, he does know that patience won't be eternal, hence, the need to recover the path will be fundamental, specially on home where there could be a lot of advantage, even more in the capital city, perhaps one of the most difficult venues in the multiverse. Risks have been taken, Caicedo decided to take the team into a series of high-performance camps all across Huayramarca instead of taking friendlies, since he considers that chemistry and tactics need a new breeze, specially an adaptation to a new physical stamina level that he does want to apply to the players, hence, a lot of physically-demanding activities have been done by the team during the New Year holidays.

To finish with this part, Huayramarca is that kind of team that may be overconfident sometimes, but if you press them to their limits, they might react in unsuspected ways, be those positive or negative for their interests, you don’t know what would happen in the Serrano, Costeño or Selvático mindset. As they do on the local league, they might try to do some antics to their rivals, be it: providing beer instead of water to their rivals, or the classiest one, giving distillated “ayahuasca” (vodka-like alcohol) and pass it like water and make their rivals be drunk, taking advantage of their influence to beat the rival team. Of course, they might not abuse of this resource, Serranos might ask Inti for it.

Game Scheme: Caicedo aims to use always a 4-2-3-1 scheme that he dubs it as “El huayco” (the mudslide) due to an analogy he made of his team with such a devastating natural phenomena: “We aim to build a fast team, aiming to be unpredictable for the others while using our regional paradigms in our favor. The less known we are, the more lethal we could be and that’s why I love not having a specific plan.” That’s what Caicedo wants to use, but in reality, there are some hints to analyze what he loves to do with his teams, especially on Beyreuth University of Québec.

El Huayco is a style of play in which you look to win back the ball as soon as you lose it, and you try to win it back as high up the pitch as possible; that means you’re closing down a lot to put pressure on the player that's just won the ball back.

The idea is that the player who just won the ball will be vulnerable and won't have time to think about his first pass. You just close him down to win the ball back quickly as high up the pitch as possible, and then you initiate a counter attack. You're likely already half way there and ready to go past into space and score a goal.

You can also use this tactic to target specific weak players, if you have noticed a weakness in a certain team. Maybe central defenders or full backs aren't comfortable on the ball, and you can look to press and close down certain individuals to try and make the most out of this game pressing style.

For the last purpose mentioned, Serranos are heavily important, they might be the analogue of a dog felling your fear and then attacking, they as collective love to use their different point of views and implement them as one while attacking, then fast passes and maybe a long range shot may happen, especially if the team is playing on the highlands. If the team is playing on the coast or jungle, they might seek to control the ball and make the rival team run behind the ball for some time, in order to cause climatic exhaust on them, since coast and jungle are hot and terribly humid in this part of Atlantian Oceania, so it may pose a real challenge for teams not used to play in such conditions.

To achieve Caicedo’s main goal, there are several prerequisites for successful counterpressing. The decisive factor is the overall positioning of the team and their playing style right before attempting to counterpress. The players must play as close to one another as possible so that they can press together as a unit right after the ball is lost – which is a given in short passing football. At the same time, they should not stick so close to one another that they neglect to cover enough space. Usually, a good layout in possession and a good shape behind the lost ball go hand in hand.

Some trainers use the basic rule of thumb to “occupy the fewest possible zones with individual players, but the greatest possible distance between the players within those zones so that they don’t occupy the same space” to make the positioning simple to understand; although, with a rule of thumb like this, some aspects are lost in terms of complexity.

Many teams also have problems deciding when to stop pressing, for example, when we stop pressing if we can’t win the ball back? When should we retreat? How long should you press and with how many players? This is particularly problematic because the position of the ball is always changing. Therefore, there is a theory created by Caicedo – the five second rule. Immediately after losing the ball the team should press at top speed and with maximum intensity for five seconds.

If the team hasn’t recovered the ball within five seconds and there is no chance of immediately winning it, they should fall back into their defensive formation. Depending on the team, the number of seconds may vary. It is recommended that the strategic basics of “El Huayco” be coached in order to develop a flexible, situation-specific length of time for counterpressing.

For scorination purposes, set the style modifer of Huayramarca at +1.

Image

The Kits: Huayramarca’s social mindset is to aim for local consumption in the long term, hence the HFF decided to hire “eva Sportswear” to manufacture the kits for the national team. “eva” decided to take the ball out of the park with some unique designs for Huayramarca, reflecting the national identity and adding up some motivational phrases on them for mere sake of marketing. Those kits are based on the geography of this nation, from the coast, to the highlands and jungle in order to promote a sense of national unity, especially on a stage that the national team might try to do something decent in their first World Cup Qualifiers venture.

As backgrounds, you might notice some decent spots that Huayramarca has to offer, such as Huayna Picchu, the mythical castle built in the Andes and thought to be built for the Incaic Emperors some centuries ago. On the second kit, the sacred Illimani, a mountain located just outskirts Huayramarca’s Metropolitan District, this 6540 masl mountain is believed to be an angel sent my Inti to protect the city against any disaster. On the third kit, the gigantic Guayas River is displayed, with some Guayaquil neighborhoods in it (Guayaquil is the third biggest city in Huayramarca), also possible home for some World Cup Qualifier games.

As for the goalkeeper kits, in their main kit, the second largest city of Huayramarca, and the main coastal city, Lima is featured, this city is known for their gorges near the coast, something like a potential protection against disasters as the so frightening tsunamis. To finish with, the magnificent Chimborazo mountain is featured in the background for the away goalkeeper shirt, with some important animals for the Huayramarcan folk such as the wild vicuñas, known for their weird habit of flesh-eating (Beware if you go there and see one of those, they might not be friendly if meat isn’t given to them).

Players description - Starting XI.

Nota bene: Caps considered before World Cup 86 Qualifiers - For national purposes, friendlies are never taken into consideration for official registries.

N°1 - Juan Mamani - GK - 23 yrs - Team: Ate FC - Height: 1.88 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 1

Mamani is an individual that believes he always is right, he tends to be creative when saving balls of creating some innovative ideas to take the ball forward, based so much in the fact that he is protective, spontaneous and loves to be independent in his actions. Currently, he is sad because he broke up with his girlfriend. Despite his relationship failure, he might seek some attention as the goalkeeper of the national team, forming decent bonds with his teammates in order to leave the baby steps soon in terms of footballing level. Also, he's brother with the creative mid of this team, Ian Mamani. He also has the curious record of scoring a free kick goal against Greater Lausitz, that goal helped Huayramarca to get their first ever victory at home soil on World Cup 85th, matchday 18th.

N°2 - Kevin Quispe - RCB - 20 yrs - Team: Real Ebriedad - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 32 - Goals: 2

A pretty average guy in terms of intelligence that has no life plan, hence he left studies in order to make a living with football. He is very secretive, doesn't likes even to tell his teammates what will be his next movement because he knows we will be wrong, Quispe has serious issues with anger management and may be rebellious, he is cold and ignores what the others might feel or think about him, he doesn't gives a fu*k of anything. Anyways, he's flabbergasted by the fact of being called to the national team, even more by the fact of being part of the starting XI.

N°4 - Carlos Vilca - LFB - 24 yrs - Team: Sporting Club El Alto - Height: 1.78 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 5

Vilca exemplifies the stereotype of a Serrano, he is overly analytical and optimistic, with some patience when a player might approach to him, he might take some minutes to make a mental profile of who he will face and how to block him in its right side. Despite being coordinated and loving to be the center of attention, he loves to be quiet and solitary with his own personal code of conduct, he might be extremely fair while robbing balls and could try to be the surprise factor, since he tends to react when needed, his two goals to equalize the match against Darmen (both first and second leg) helped Huayramarca to snatch vital points against a superior rival. Right now, he's submissive by the fact of being called by Caicedo for the national team.

N°6 - Felipe Fernández - RFB - 19 yrs - Team: Club Atlético Lima - Height: 1.85 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 2

Pipe, as known by his teammates is an extremely intelligent right fool back that adapts quite quickly to any situation he might face, he loves being orderly and hates mess. When playing, he is straight-forward and might argument with rivals, referee and even his teammates, he rarely praises others and values learning from experience, hence why he has a promissory future in football. Right now, he's kind by the chance given by the HFF to play for the national team.

N°14 - Santiago Chumacero - LCB - 23 yrs - Team: FC Atahualpa - Height: 1.81 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 7

Chumacero's perception of things might be out of this world, his mind might be some steps forward the others and might help to anticipate to some movements that may be done by the rival. For that purpose, he's always flexible, active and plays like he would be killed if he does a mistake, he's loyal with his team, faithful and gentle, hence he might be the motivator of the squad. Chumacero's right now really sorry with his mom, because he robbed her I$ 100 Intis to get a room and go with his girlfriend to a hotel and experience some intimacy. Also, he feels inspired by the fact of scoring 6 goals during the whole World Cup Qualifier process, four of those goals came on two consecutive matches, basically, a polyvalent when needed.

N°17 - Orlando Mina - CM - 20 yrs - Team: Sporting Club El Alto - Height: 1.95 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 4

One of the two defensive mid of the team, being the classical Costeño out there, Mina is the tallest and strongest player of the squad. Mina's attitude is being original and stubborn, giving you some classical Costeño vibes, consistent in his performance and devoted to God, he cares a lot about what he does, since he tries always to correct his mistakes and not suffering on them, instead, he uses them as feedback to improve his game and abilities. Mina's sad right now because his mother was fired from the job, although, he might provide some food for his family while playing with The Condors.

N°11 - Ian Mamani - CF - 20 yrs - Team: Illimani FC - Height: 1.65 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 7

The second of the Mamani brothers in this team, along with Juan, Ian has what Juan might lack sometimes, creativity and brightness, although they play in totally different positions and roles in the team. This creative mid and captain of the team is one of the big things among this team, a fast-paced and fussy person with lots of potential, euphoria that drives him to perform as what he can do, being the best of the entire nation in his role. Large crosses are his specialty, including long-range shots when playing on the highlands. Right now, his euphoria level has increased a lot, considering he got called to the national team, the fact of being called captain and being on the international TV screen for WCQ.

N°8 - Nicolás Allauca - CF - 25 yrs - Team: Huayramarca FC - Height: 1.80 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 6

Nico was a bus driver until the last three weeks prior to WC 85 Qualifiers, when he decided to enter to the amateur football world of Huayramarca, he was in luck that Caicedo watched him plat and fell in love on how he performed. Allauca is spontaneous and may not like to do training, he is a fast-moving and extremely practical (hates theories) defensive mid, that may mutate to a second creative mid with Ian Mamani and has also a decent capability to score goals while going to attack. Allauca is blunt, might hurt you with his eyes and ignores rules, he might be dramatical when somebody tackles or fouls him, in order to make that player get sent off of at least yellow carded. Nico is pleased with Caicedo for being called up to the team once again.

N°7 - Abraham Mendoza - LF - 21 yrs - Team: Huayramarca FC - Height: 1.63 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 3

The smallest of the entire team, Mendoza is a mentally strong individual who loves to work hard, play hard and also be a strong leader inside the team in terms of order. A competent but realistic player who may not be spectacular while playing on the wings, but pragmatical and effective when achieving his purposes. Perhaps, on his personal life he is the best positioned of all the group, since he's currently studying Industrial Engineering at the Huayramarcan Technical University and he's scoring some of the best grades ever in that institution. You might notice how Abraham's personal discipline is, and this is translated even to football, where he tries to compliment some weaknesses that he may have as his height, but he tries to compensate with some decent body-building routines. He might not be a prolific scorer for the standards of a winger, but he has at least a 35% of assists for the total of Huayramarcan goals scored during the Qualifiers, hence, somebody to take care of.

N°21 - Gabriel Sayritupac - RF - 21 yrs - Team: Real Ebriedad - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 8

Sayri as he's known by many people in his native Tulcán (near the Québécois-Huayramarcan border) is an artistic person in all senses of his life. Usually he makes a living by painting portraits of people visiting the Chimborazo National Forest Reserve, sometimes working on a local brewery or doing some football for fun. He doesn't stands being alone and might be that easy-going Serrano (which is weird, if we come to think it). He has some genetic problems that makes him quite prone to injuries, and when those occur, Sayri decides to get inebriated to let frustration go away. A dirty antic he has is that he's well known for giving alcoholic beverages to the rivals instead of water, he has developed modified ayahuasca in order to make it feel and look like water, which has fooled some teams. Keep an eye on him!

Despite that, Sayritupac is a well skilled winger, an antithesis of Mendoza, since he loves to be artistical while dribbling and doing a cross, he might try to do rabonas while shooting or passing and will keep attacking, even more than the usual for a winger like him, he always loves to risk it all.

N°21 - Bryan Tello - ST - 26 yrs - Team: Club Sport Cumbayá - Height: 1.86 mts - Caps: 33 - Goals: 16

A decently heighted Costeño as forward is always a neat solution for your goal needs, with good pace, stride and also physic abilities Tello is what every team may need for up front. He's factual since he studied Philosophy at the University of Cumbayá, a committed and self-confident man who might be extremely traditional to his striker role, he might seek for some space in order to go front, use his strength and move towards the goal. Tello is a somewhat strong leader among the shadows of the Huayramarcan national team, an outgoing and straight-forward person that could sometimes aggressive since he's prone to be insensitive. He's right now interested in evolving as a legend for Huayramarcan football, something that he is slowly building up, and those key goals against Nephara and Jeruselem prove it.

Useful Information and Stadia: Before introducing the stadia, there’s some handy information for away fans who might visit Huayramarca. As said before, this nation has a quite complex geography and some long distances to travel for away fans, since there are only two airports: Huayramarca International Airport, located near Huayramarca Metropolitan District at the highlands, and the Jorge Guerra International Airport in Lima, on the coast. You might need to go up mountains or driving through them which is a complete odyssey due to the risks caused by the Andean geography itself.

People in Huayramarca might be passional about football pretty much everywhere, but more hostile when you go down the mountains, driving to the coast. Down there, if people don’t attack you, weather might do due to the offensive humidity, mosquitoes and heat that may occur there. In Lima, despite being in the coast, the weather is mild and great to play football, but there might be some sandstorms due to the deserts located south of said city. Coastal teams usually play at afternoon, when humidity may suffocate those not used to deal with it.

Same happens at the jungle, but the mosquito issue multiplies thousand-fold, also as humidity caused by constant rains that pass there in their transit to the highlands. Water absorption made by trees cause severe issues with an extremely humid weather, hence jungle teams decide to play often at noon, in order to torture rival teams.

On the Sierra things get worse, since the main problem up there is respiration. For a physical activity like football, people might need some weeks to acclimatize altitude and get an efficient breathing pattern that might supply their physical effort needs. Several cities are above the 2500 masl, even the capital city, which is located at 4000 masl, it doesn’t matters at which time they decide to play, if a team isn’t acclimatized, they will even faint during the game if they don’t have with them oxygen tanks to breathe before the game or if they don’t get some treatment into an hyperbaric chamber.

Stadia are distributed in order to have an equal distribution for regions, considering that there will be twelve local games at Huayramarca, Sierra, Costa and Jungla will receive three matches each one. Each region will receive a high tier rival and then a randomized sort of two other teams in other matchdays. You might contact the Huayramarcan Football Federation (OOC: TG me or shout me at Discord!) in case of more information or solving some needs for your team and fans.

Estadio Nacional de Huayramarca - Capacity: 45,500 - Huayramarca Metropolitan District.

Tenants: Ministry of Culture and Sports of Huayramarca.
Built in: 1968.
Altitude: 4012 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Illimani FC, Real Ebriedad, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Built in 1968, the Estadio Nacional is the jewel in the not so well-shaped crown of the Huayramarcan sport venues, an olympic stadium that might be a nightmare for visiting teams due to the altitude and weather of the city, which tends to be somewhat hostile everyday, even more if it's played at noon due to the sun's radiation at that altitude. Despite being an olympic stadium, people tends to set a lot of pressure in it, especially from the neighboring appartment blocks which tends to be crowded for the matches being held there (they might aim lasers from there, take care!).

Also, the walls near the dressing room have some curious messages as such: "Welcome to Huayramarca D.M. At 4,000 meters above sea level "is one of the first things the visiting teams will read upon entering the dressing room, perhaps to make clear the conditions to which they will be subjected throughout the game. It is still somewhat intimidating the following warning that is issued when they leave the visiting dressing room "Caution, if you have the following symptoms: Headache, vertigo, fatigue, tachycardia, nausea or vomiting, wheezing, dyspnea or inappetence, go to the medical staff, we are at your disposal."
Will host:
  • Huayramarca vs Netop. Matchday 1 - 18:00 - Weather conditions: Cold, 25% humidity, 7°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Ko-oren. Matchday 11 - 20:00 - Weather conditions: Windy and foggy, 75% of possibilities for a snowfall, -2°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Isles Rougieres. Matchday 15 - 15:00 - Weather conditions: Foggy, 55% of possibilities for a snowfall, 0°C.

Jungla:

Estadio Olímpico del Oriente - Capacity: 26,000 - Sechura.

Tenants: MuniSechura - Municipality of Sechura.
Built in: 1945.
Altitude: 560 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Sociedad Petrolera, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: One of the biggest stadia in Huayramarca, the main hub of sports in the Jungle region is located at Sechura, a city of about 300,000 inhabitants which serves as logistical hub for operations of rubber production and for explorations into the dense jungle nearby. Sociedad Petrolera is a modest Liga 1 side, but one that tends to attract almost ticket sell outs every game, since people in that region tends to be quite passionated of football in order to forget their not so good daily life. At that city, one should take care of humidity, which tends to be quite strong at times, hence teams usually play there on afternoon or night, since heat might be something difficult to stand even for locals.
Will host:
  • Huayramarca vs 95X. Matchday 5 - 17:00 - Weather conditions: Mostly sunny, windy, 65% humidity, 24°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Québécois Acadiana. Matchday 9 - 19:00 - Weather conditions: Cloudy, 55% humidity, 21°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Tequilo. Matchday 13 - 15:15 - Weather conditions: Heavy rain, 100% humidity, 27°C.

Costa:

Estadio Metropolitano del Guayas - Capacity: 62,000 - Guayaquil.

Tenants: Autoridad Guayaquileña de Deportes - Guayaquilean Sports Authority.
Built in: 1980.
Altitude: 15 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Guayaquil Wanderers, Barcelona Sporting Club, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: A kettle pot, that's the definition for the biggest stadium in all of Huayramarca. "El Metropolitano" is the most recently built stadium in the nation and will make the debut for international football in Huayramarca. Hosts two teams and the fan athmosphere in Guayaquil is perhaps one of the most intimidatory ones in the multiverse, fans throwing you stones while receiving, throwing flares, extremely noisy people all around and the incredibly hot and humid weather that dominates the city may be lethal for some teams when trying to visit. Rescuing a tie from here may be considered something great, since you survived the "Guayaco" hell. Hence that, teams often love to play at the afternoon, specially at 3:00 P.M. in order to squeeze out the rivals in exhaust.
Will host:
  • Huayramarca vs Semarland. Matchday 3 - 16:00 - Weather conditions: Sunny and oppressively hot, 65% humidity, 33°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Sajnur. Matchday 11 - 20:00 - Weather conditions: Cloudly, mildly hot, 55% humidity, 26°C.
  • Huayramarca vs Jeruselem. Matchday 17 - 15:00 - Weather conditions: Sunny, 85% humidity, 32°C .
