It looks like in future some of the national rights secured by liberals will be rolled back, the judicial activist genie is well out of the bottle and will not be going back in. They will need to persuade local majorities to accept the suite of rights that they personally take as self-evident, rather than relying on winning by default nationwide through court cases. A certain intellectual laziness can set in when people think that the trajectory of history on their side, they should take this as an opportunity to sharpen their arguments and shape their discourse into something that can engage the people. Maybe some will think a little about where the country is going, what they really want and the efficacy of liberalism and democracy in achieving that; but I won't start asssembling the pipeline just yet.
