Was this the one mark francois defended not publishing because if they did 'people wouldn't vote tory?'

The US will at least not set austerity spending rules on you unlike the EU.

Because the EU is decidedly neoliberal staying in it made the economic changes nearly impossible but sure trade with the US hardly solves the problem either.

Leaving the EU was of course no silver bullet, but trying to fix things in the EU very hard as well.

Nobody is talking about joining the US. We are talking about trade and the economic realities of the world for the UK outside of the EU.

Given that we have now burned our bridges with China, we are going to need a big trade deal settled quickly with someone. That really puts us over a barrel in terms of negotiating with the US.

I expect we will start saying really nice things about India soon as well.

Sure you are in a bad negotiating position (but you would never get anything good out of the PRC anyways, whose trade policies are purely predatory so reducing trade with them is good).

Not going to work because neither needs you for trade and you have little either needs or wants.
How would that work? You offer to buy more agricultural products from the US?
Why would the PRC care? All they care about is dumping stuff on you, they will never give you fair access to the very restricted PRC markets. For the PRC trade is a one way street. You buy their stuff.
They do not give you anything in return.

Besides that would require you giving up on Hong Kong completely.

Besides playing both sides just earns the enmity of both. Because then both sides see you are not their friend.

Pick the less bad side.

There have been widespread public allegations that Russia sought to influence the 2016 referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU. The impact of any such attempts would be difficult – if not impossible – to assess, and we have not sought to do so.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

I couldn’t be happier if Brexit was outright cancelled and/or Starmer literally threw Bojo out of Number 10 like a barkeep throws out an unwelcome patron.

But dear god, if the people choose a Tory majority in the next election, I’m committing to my plans to emigrate when I can.

Russia report: Inquiry into potential Brexit vote interference rejected by UK government

So it took less than an hour for the government to reject calls for an inquiry into potential interference into Brexit resulting from the report.

What are they trying to hide?

They also voted against protecting the safety and welfare standards of agricultural imports, as well as voting to throw health services under the bus.

Research (sorry for the link) shows 75% of people want the NHS excluded from trade deals -- this may be enough to make to Tories unelectable. This will not prevent the next four years (at least) being shit if the Tories go through with this horrid idea.

There's a pretty simple wrecking solution Labour could use to stop the Tories being able to behave this way.

Just appropriate the public assets they sell off without compensation, and make it clear this is eternal labour policy for any public asset sold without referendum. "Buyers beware, Conservatives sell faulty goods. You will lose your money.".

They can't keep Labour out of office literally forever, so it becomes an inevitability that makes their behavior impossible. If they cry about it, point out it's the left wing equivalent of what they are doing, which is wrecking maneuvers designed to undermine even the possibility of state assets, since any attempt to build them results in the Tories selling them off for cheap to their mates. So, we should do a wrecking maneuver designed to undermine even the possibility of the privatization of state assets.

Make the billionaire class realize collaboration with the Tories on this kind of stuff will just see their money go up in smoke and society wont tolerate it.

This is more likely to be saleable in the event they try and privatize the NHS, but can be applied across the board as part of the backlash. Just seize the railways, NHS, mail and so on back for the public and do not pay a penny for them.

They'll scream and howl about it disincentivizes investment and so on, but we can just point out "That's the point. We don't want this kind of investment happening. We want it disincentivized. Billionaires too thick to understand the difference between this and other forms of investment are not a loss. They can go be a problem for some other country, preferably one we actually want weakened.".

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
