King Maximilian looks to the horizon, over the Havana harbor. 90 km away from his palace lays Florida and the American mainland. His kingdom, although respectable, is little more than a collection of islands that sell sugar to the world. His Majesty knows that Cuba must expand if it wants to stay relevant. He starts writing a letter. A letter directed to Berlin...

William McKinley stared at Washington D.C. from the White House. And all he could see was an ever changing landscape. Americans where getting richer, the automobile became more common, and modern utilities like running water, electricity, and gas had all become more widespread. However, this progress was not without difficulties. Rural communities where still poor and lacked many of the resources major settlements had.

And on the international stage, the age of the American Empire had begun. The Philippines where American as well as other islands in the Pacific. Most notably Hawaii. However, the more interesting news in McKinley's mind was the declaration of a Bosnian nation. A congratulatory telegram not only congratulating the independence of Bosnia, but also the official recognition of Bosnia by the USA.

US Telegram To Bosnia

As President of the United States of America, I would like to congratulate the Bosnian people on the creation of their own state. The fundamental right of self-determination is critical in this modern world. And that another nation reaches said point democratically is most heart-warming. I would also like to state that Congress unanimously decided to recognize the newly independent nation of Bosnia.

Good luck.

-William McKinley, President of the USA

I have discussed the proposal for a Bosnian embassy with my cabinet, and they all agreed that it Bosnia can establish an embassy with the USA. I kindly request that the Bosnian ambassador come to Washington D.C. to look at possible sights for an embassy.

New National Assembly Elections
Translated From Latvian

The results from the new national elections in the United Baltic Republic have come in. Janis Kalnins, a popular revolutionist politician won the loosely-defined 'Chancellor' position. The National Assembly was also elected, bringing 90 Assembly Members to the UBR's de facto Capital, the Latvian port of Riga. Among those assemblymen are popular celebrities, famous(or infamous) Revolutionaries, and, even more surprisingly, a handful of women. The barely-existing law of the UBR has only two official sources to draw from: The Declaration of Separation, and the Partisan's code. Neither of those have a clause barring women from places of power or military posts, and some female Partisan divisions are already guarding our borders.

This fact has caused much controversy amongst the newly-elected Assembly Members. Some, like Chancellor Kalnins, seem either indifferent or supportive of the matter. "The Declaration of Separation doesn't specify on Sex when it comes to rights. It says 'The Citizens of the United Baltic Republic shall have the Liberties and responsibilities of Voting for Chancellor and the Republic's national assembly, Free Speech, and Military or Partisan service'. Now, if the women of the Republic wish to abide by these responsibilities and liberties, for the greater good of our new nation, who are we to stop them? We need all of the Partisans we can get to defend us, and if we can't give people who risk their lives to defend us the simple right to vote, how can we consider ourselves better than the Russian Empire we left behind?"- Part of Chancellor Kalnins' inaugural address, given on the steps of the newly-declared Assembly Hall, Riga.

The Assembly is expected to begin debate on a core legislation or Constitution as soon as possible. We expect the issue of gender voting shall arise and be answered as soon as we get the final piece of Legislation.

The Assembly is also expected to appoint Ambassadors to foreign nations who recognize the nation's independence. It's not clear if many will, but only time will tell.
