Honestly that always confuses me with revenge stories. Like you killed a bunch of henchmen who were likely just trying to support their family, but then when confronted with the actual scumbag who did the bad thing killing them is a bit far? Like you have gone this far might as well go all the way.
Once I want the villain to point out how many fucking people the hero killed on his way when the self-deluding idiot points out 'killing him won't solve anything'.
