It had been a little less than a week after the state of emergency had been lifted in France, and life was already back to normal. If fact, of the 25,000 people arrested previously, 20,000 had been released. This was the calm that France so desired. Summer was coming and bringing with it the usual influx of tourists to the French Riviera and North Africa for their vacations.

However the French government was planing otherwise when it came to France. Instead of just focusing on tourism, the French government was planning to put into play a huge industrialization and modernization plan. Its main goal was to capitalize on the massive oil reserves uncovered in Africa along with other natural resources reserves. And on this very day Prime Minister Henri Queuille was touring the industries of Lyon.

The vast industrial center of Lyon was awestriking for Queuille. While certainly not the most attractive part of town, it had it's own charm and elegance. Wearing his characteristic suit and a hard hat, the prime minister studied the industry carefully and thought about how the new plan should be drafted.

Running water must be provided to 100% of Mainland French and North African homes while in other regions it will be mandatory in all settlements with over 3,500 people.

Such segments will link Agadir all the way to Tunis, and it will also link most major cities in Mainland France with Paris. These will be toll roads. The Polaria Republic now declares war on the Rashid Caliphate, having numerous Casus Belis (reasons to declare war), but the main one being numerous terrorist attacks on her French ally.

Alora wasn't worried about East or Westgermany/the German Empire, not having any diplomatic connections to Germany since pre-WWII. She knew that if Stalin called, and wanted to further political relations/diplomacy w/ Polaria, he'd ask for Polaria to recognize Eastgermany over West, possibly causing more issues/tensions w/ France, which wasn't wanted. The West could stop recognizing Polaria/start blackballing it, and then the Polaria Republic could possibly enter the Warsaw Pact/the Iron Curtain/the Soviet Empire's sphere-of-influence, which wasn't wanted. Polaria and her revolutionaries towed the thin line between East and West, wanting to stay Unaligned/Neutral, but also not wanting to compromise trust/etc between the Soviets and the French.

All-in-all, she didn't want Polaria to be politically liquidated like Polaria'd done to the Asian Communists (not recognizing Communist China/ siding w/ Western or Russian Communism-Socialism over Eastern.)

An undisclosed amount of Turkish troops, tanks and military transports have been gathered in the town of Yuksekova, near the borders with Iran for nearly a month. Recently Turkey local news report shows that the convoy is now making their way into Iran. Sources estimate that they will arrive in Urmia within a day and will probably move south down to the borders with North Arabia near the Persian Gulf. A declaration of war on Rashid Caliphate by the Republic of Turkey has been made public citing 'terrorism acts on Turkish land and people' as the casus belli.

Offical French Government Statement On The Recent Anti-Terroism Raids

To the suprise of none, the recent anti-terroisim raids by the French security forces have been misconstrued as an act of agression by foreign powers that have seized upon the chance to jab at the rich history and legacy of the French nation. What these people will not tell you is that the raids arrensted 25,000 people, of which only 7,000 where muslims. The other 18,000 people ranged from both left and right wing extremists to wanted criminals.

The raids where not a profiling on muslims because of their ethnicity or religion, but instead because of terroist plots uncovered by a Canadian raid on the Rashid Caliphate which leaked the plans for said attacks. As for the other 18,000 people arrested, many where either supportes or co-conspirators in the plot, but many where also extremeists from all sides of the political field that wished to destabilize France.

On the note of France, the raids where carried out within the full scope of the French law code. It is impossible for there to have been an illegal arrest since all of the arrests where made off of concrete evidence collected from local and foreign sources. If it weren't for the brave men and women of the French Security Services, it is possible another, even more bloody terroist attack could have occured.

Meanwhile the East German has slandered the raids and has offered "amnesty" and "good work" to those who defect to East Germany. However, this is nothing but lies. Every day, citizens of East Germany flee to western Germany for a better life. so it should come as no suprise that East Germany's recent crackdown on the entrance of western citizens by land was triggered not by security reasons but by the will to repeat the Berlin Airlift as well as to prevent it's own citizens from seeking a better life.

But France will not stoop to the level of East Germany and it's feeble atempts to threaten a world power. Any citizen of any nation wis welcome to imigrate to France with their family for a better life and a better future. Similarly, France will not restric the entrance of foreigners because of petty excuses. After this lockdown ends, the travel rules will be back to normal. As for East Germany, France is putting a total embargo on the shipment of goods to them as well as baring East German citizens from visiting France and French citizens from visiting East Germany. Similarly, the technical aid to Korea will be withdrawn and all dealings with the USSR will be cut and any and all goodwill trips will be ended.

However, the recent raids and political instability in France have led to the withdrawal of French participation for the war against Rashid because of the more volatile situation at home along with the increased risk of terroisim and foreign instigation.

The British Empire today join other nations in declaring on the Rashid Caliphate. Prime Minister Churchill in a firy speech in front of Parliament declared that enough is enough. Offical French Government Statement On The Recent Anti-Terroism Raids

To the suprise of none, the recent anti-terroisim raids by the French security forces have been misconstrued as an act of agression by foreign powers that have seized upon the chance to jab at the rich history and legacy of the French nation. What these people will not tell you is that the raids arrensted 25,000 people, of which only 7,000 where muslims. The other 18,000 people ranged from both left and right wing extremists to wanted criminals.

The raids where not a profiling on muslims because of their ethnicity or religion, but instead because of terroist plots uncovered by a Canadian raid on the Rashid Caliphate which leaked the plans for said attacks. As for the other 18,000 people arrested, many where either supportes or co-conspirators in the plot, but many where also extremeists from all sides of the political field that wished to destabilize France.

On the note of France, the raids where carried out within the full scope of the French law code. It is impossible for there to have been an illegal arrest since all of the arrests where made off of concrete evidence collected from local and foreign sources. If it weren't for the brave men and women of the French Security Services, it is possible another, even more bloody terroist attack could have occured.

Meanwhile the East German has slandered the raids and has offered "amnesty" and "good work" to those who defect to East Germany. However, this is nothing but lies. Every day, citizens of East Germany flee to western Germany for a better life. so it should come as no suprise that East Germany's recent crackdown on the entrance of western citizens by land was triggered not by security reasons but by the will to repeat the Berlin Airlift as well as to prevent it's own citizens from seeking a better life.

But France will not stoop to the level of East Germany and it's feeble atempts to threaten a world power. Any citizen of any nation wis welcome to imigrate to France with their family for a better life and a better future. Similarly, France will not restric the entrance of foreigners because of petty excuses. After this lockdown ends, the travel rules will be back to normal. As for East Germany, France is putting a total embargo on the shipment of goods to them as well as baring East German citizens from visiting France and French citizens from visiting East Germany. Similarly, the technical aid to Korea will be withdrawn and all dealings with the USSR will be cut and any and all goodwill trips will be ended.

However, the recent raids and political instability in France have led to the withdrawal of French participation for the war against Rashid because of the more volatile situation at home along with the increased risk of terroisim and foreign instigation.

New Aircraft For French Air Force

Today, a deal was signed with the UK for the purchase of 150 Glouster Meteor jet fighters to aid in the modernization of the French Air Force. It is thought that these planes will be based in Africa and the Caribbean sicne that is where the need for jet aircraft is most pressing. Similarly, an order for 250 Dassault Mystere fighter planes has been revealed. the planes will be delivered from mid-1950 on.

Skies over the Rashid Caliphate
June 1949

The 288th Fighter Aviation Squadron made its way into the airspace of the Caliphate as dawn broke over the desert below. The 15 planes, all new MiG-15s, had been at their cruising speed of 800 km as they had crossed the Mediterranean, but now they began to slow down and descend for their attack run as the squadron leader, Captain of Aviation Vladimir Boroshenko, looked down at the ground for the target.

Immediately below them, Boroshenko saw nothing but sand and rocks. To the south, the urban center of Tabuk posed a threat if the squadron had to fly near or over them, but at this distance, Boroshenko figured that the outdated anti-aircraft guns were too far out of range. To the north, nothing but desert wastes and the occasional round farm. Boroshenko had seen those in his briefing, and although it had something to do with water use, it was still confusing to him. To the west, there was nothing but....wait! Right ahead, just as his course had predicted, was an old rail line. That must be the target, as there was nothing else out there. He scanned the area around the line. No trains, stations, flak guns, nothing to put a dent in the plan.

Boroshenko quickly issued his orders and the other jets maneuvered into their attack formation. As the lead jet reached the target, two 100-lb bombs dropped off the wings of the jet and fell toward the rail line. Even before the bombs had hit the ground, other jets had begun dropping their payload. Within three minutes, the entire squadron had dropped their payload and was climbing back to a safe altitude before turning around and retracing their flight path back to Turkey.

Although the squadron had dropped 30 bombs, the speed of the jets had thrown the pilots off their game and many of the bombs overshot the target, detonating a short distance away from the rail line. However, two pilots managed to drop their bombs at the right time, with one of them scoring a direct hit. The rail line was shredded by the blast, and combined with the concussive force of the other three nearby bombs, the tracks were knocked out of commission.

Department of Niger, France, Somewhere in the Sahara

The hot sun boiled the sand. Waves of heat radiated up from the ground and blured one's vision. The sun was like a glowing orb of pain to one's eyes. A fine layer of dust clouded the blue sky ever so slightly. But these where optimal conditions for what was about to occur. A launch pad was placed near a truck and a bunker.

On the pad was what one could call a V-2 rocket. But this was the French MB-1, an exact coppy of the V-2 bassed of the technical data available to the French scientists working on the project. While a longer range variant was planed, all that was available at the moment was the MB-1.

The clock struck 12:55. A five minute timer was set as everyone and everything was taken into the safe area away from the launch pad. Three minutes passed before the clear siren was sounded indication that there was no one in immediate danger in the test area. Another minute passed as all instruments where given a last minute check, and the AC was cranked up in the bunker.

As the last 60 seconds of the countdown began, the missile was readied for launch by turning on all systems and giving the missile systems a quick ground test. By now there where 15 seconds left. Then ten, and finaly five. When the clock struck 13:00, the red button hidden under a metal cover was pressed an the missile went airborne.

The missle took a 18 minutes to reach it's maximum range and it's target. As it began it's reentry process, the ground cameras near the impact sight monitored it's return carefully. And with a huge explosion the warhead struck it's targe of a hardened cement bunker. In the control bunker, people went estatic. Yes this was a proven missile design, but this only verified the fact that the French missile building capabilites where up to par.

After several minutes of partying, a dutiful soldier radioed Paris the following message:

Gulf of Aqaba, of the Coast of the Rashid Caliphate

Captain Brownings checked the soldiers, the landing craft, and the turrets before heading to the bridge of the CRS Mackenzie. He sighed and sat down in his chair. He looked straight ahead at the Rashid fort in front of him and the village in the distance behind the stronghold. His eyes didn't glace out of sight for one bit. Then, he held his hand up.

"Fire," he said. The crew nodded, gave the order, and the turrets and guns reigned on the fort. The noise was loud to the ship, so nobody must have guessed what the Rashids heard. The fort, a simple stone one, was hit and hit until it's walls had holes so big you could see the other side of the staircase. The Rashids ducked their heads and ran out of the fort and into the wilderness. The crew was ordered not to fire again on the runners to (a, save ammunition, and (b, let the survivors have another chance.

All along the gulf, Canadian ships were doing the same things to other forts. The Rashids knew that all along the coast of their nation, attacks would occur, so they spread out their forces. The Gulf was a weak spot though, because of the old forts holding the soldiers. Most were destroyed and the soldiers inside left, but some of the stronger forts held on. This is where the fun began.

Back on the Mackenzie, the landing crafts were filled with soldiers ready with weapons in their hands, knowing the forts would be safe, but not so much the wild. The landing crafts departed, got to shore a minute later, and searched the fort. They saw the casualties, the survivors who stayed in the fort to be taken to North Arabian POW Camps, and the supplies and weapons left over, which they confiscated on the ship to be used in the hands of rebels. The fort was secured as a camp, and then most of the Canadians left into the wilderness to capture the towns and secure the area.

It wasn't even a minute after leaving the fort that three Rashids hid on a sand dune and fired at the Canadians. One Rashid was killed, one injured, and one Canadian was injured too. The crew went on.

Within 4 hours, the Gulf's coast was secured and the final assault on the city of Alsharaf was being prepared.

In response to the invasion by outside forces, the Caliph gave out another radio message.

Christians side with atheists to wipe out our holy religion. This is not just an attack on our nation, it is an attack against all of Islam. Brothers across the world, now is the time of Great Jihad. Rise up and kill the oppressors! No matter where you are, you would help by draining their moral and forcing them to station troops at home. He than had his advisors sent out all orders. All messengers would deliver messages orally and would travel by motorcycle on civilian clothes to avoid capture. Aircraft would only travel at night and launch using light signals to avoid radio detection. Kamikaze-style attacks would be directed against any naval troop transports. Due to the impassable desert up north, the Rashid Army would fortify the main highways and make them suffer every mile from land mines, IEDs, suicide trucks and ambushes.
