What is this?
Welcome! The Pan-Pacific Cup is a roleplay football (soccer) tournament being held in association with Pacific-Con to introduce players from across the feeders to the wonderful world of sports roleplay. Whether you know the ins and outs of a scorinator or you've never roleplayed before, this is the tournament for you! Imagine it a bit like the World Cup: all the nations coming together to see who's the best.
How does it work?
Sports roleplays are special: they use a program called a 'scorinator' that comes up with a realistic match result for players to roleplay about. That way no one has to worry about trying to figure out who should win or whose team is better: the scorinator tells you. the The scorinator we're using is called 'Xkoranate' and has been used by NSers for a very very long time.
For tournament format, users will be drawn into groups of four, with the number of groups depending on signups. The best teams from the groups will advance to a knockout round. No ranks of any kind will be used, everyone will be on an equal footing.
That's the more technical side, though: what it's really about is the stories that you can weave throughout the event. Sports roleplay is all about bringing people together to see what cool stories are created and come out of it. And if you are creating quality roleplays then that in turn may give you a chance of a slight performance boost in the scorinator.
Who can participate? Who's running this?
Anyone can join! However, only one nation per user please, and please use a nation in one of the five Pacific regions.
Highton and Recuecn will be your co-hosts.
When does it start?
Signups will close late Saturday/early Sunday depending on what numbers look like. The tournament will run from Sunday the 10th through Sunday the 17th, with one game each day.
Where will this be held? Where can I find out more about Sports roleplay?
This thread is just for signups (although feel free to ask Out Of Context questions). Tomorrow an In Context thread will be posted in this forum where you'll be able to post roleplays and rosters and see results and all that good stuff.
If you wanna talk to the other competitors or chat about the tournament, join Pacific-Con here! If you have specific questions, feel free to ask here, telegram one of the hosts, find us on discord, or ask on the Pacific-Con server.
If you have more general questions about sports role-play, Kelssek, Highton, and Recuecn will be holding a panel on the subject on the Pacific-Con discord server on Saturday, May 16, at 20:00 UTC. If you have questions for the panel, submit them here.
The Guide to Sports Roleplaying is also a great place to start.
