Gronk will go down Week 3 with an injury that will sideline him for the season.
There, I said it.

I'm strongly against taking wideouts in the 1st unless you've got a freak like Julio or DK Metcalf available, and I haven't seen that in this class. You can get a ton of value from skill position players form round 3 and down if you're good at your job.
The Pack...I don't even know. They seem solid on pass rushers, I would probably go safety and a wideout in the 2-3 round, ILB or OL in the first. In the end, Rodgers is always going to elevate his pass catchers, but the first round just isn't the place to grab them.
Corey Davis, John Ross, Kevin White, Kelvin Benjamin(who, honestly, was such a freak coming out that I probably would have drafted him), Mike Williams(who's probably the best of the 2017 group of 1st round wideouts), none of them have done anything. It's about as bust-prone of a position as a Q. If they really want one, grab that freak out of Colorado in the 2-3 round. Besides that, unless you're the Giants with Bobby Hart and Erek Flowers, its very hard to miss on an OL.

As for Gronk, he made it clear he wanted to play and didn't want to play for anyone else but TB12.
So essentially, we upgraded a 7th rounder to a 4th rounder in exchange for a player whom wouldn't have been on our roster anyway, plus Tampa Bay isn't on our schedule... unless its the SB
Also, anyone else think 2020 season will be shortened?

'Freak,' I didn't particularly say incredibly productive, and there's a huge difference. 6'3", running a 4.33, in that range, yeah, you draft in the first round. Metcalf is a beast. Corey Davis? I think the dude had multiple 1,200 yard seasons and 10+ td seasons. He's a low end number 2.
And the fact that this draft is so talent heavy in the WR area means that its even better to wait on depth. If you can get a stud somewhere else in the first round, and then a very good WR later, that's better than drafting what very potentially ends up being a bust in the first round. Rodgers, yes, can elevate any of them, but if you're not significantly improving, then why spend the 1st round pick?
Again, I'd say OL or ILB. WR just isn't a good value pick in round 1, and that offensive line has deteriorated over the years. then grab a wideout later.

A lot of teams need WR help though, so if we wait too long than the good supply is going to be drained by the second or third round. When its an in-demand position you need to pounce a bit.
It's hard to say what the Packers do. We added to the OL, LB core, and WR crew in free agency, though none of those were huge signings. I think it'll be a WR; I'm hoping Mims or Aiyuk, but there's a few LBs that wouldn't leave me disappointed. I doubt it'll be OL. That's another deep position this draft. It's worth waiting when that position is deep, you know.

Yes. Season starts on time then shortened. This should be a choice in the poll. The NFL can't avoid this 2020 clusterfuck either.

If there's one singular position that more teams need than any other, it's the offensive line. The entire league is suffering from a lack of talent in those positions. If they're going to jump on something because it's 'in demand,' that's the one. You're really contradicting yourself with that last couple of lines.
And again, even if there were only a few quality wideouts in this draft, I still wouldn't draft one in the first round, bar a freak like one of the ones I mentioned before. Henry Ruggs can run a 4.27, but hasn't consistently produced (despite an abnormally high amount of passing with Tua at Alabama). Maybe Ceedee Lamb, if I was really sold on him. Granted, I'm sure 3-4 will be off the board, but I don't think its a particularly good idea.

Why would it be shortened if it started on time? I'm not going to go into COVID because we'd get off topic quick, but quarantine is ending in a lot of states, and there's no foreseeable reason that the season would be shortened if they were able to start on time.
