So is my character accepted then?
Current RPs -
The Infinites: Infinite Gauntlet - The long-running lame superhero comedy on NS! This arc's practically done. But another may be starting. Hopefully soon.

Awake in Prefeton - A superhero story about school students discovering they have powers. More on character then on fights, which is rare.

Slate - A multi-verse RP with an eerie feel that just keeps getting better. I play a grumpy doctor character and a leprechaun.

The Daily Carrot - Comedy, about the journalists of a really low quality weekly magazine. Quite funny!

Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States wrote:
Name: Maximillian August Wolfgang Schubert Müller, Count of Schwarzberg-Hinterhausen
Age: 67
Sex: Male
Appearance:

Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: “Bah! I will let you know, young man, I come from a long line of German aristocracy. Knowledge of art is in my blood, and through my veins courses the wit and vocabulary of Nietsche and Goethe! You can count yourself lucky that I came across your advertisement, and that I am willing to work for you! Bah, I say again! Bah!”
Previous Employment: Various art installations and publications throughout the country, though employment never ends with mutual satisfaction

Explain More About Yourself: Maximillian August Wolfgang Schubert Müller legally descends from a long line of German aristocracy, tracing its lineage back to the days of Charlemagne. Legally is an extremely important quantifier here, because it is only legally that Max can claim any aristocratic heritage. His father worked as an administrative clerk for a notary’s office in 1940s Germany. When the Third Reich came crashing in all around, and the notary himself had already fled west, Max’ father managed to alter the final will and testament of a noble customer of theirs, who was an officer in the Wehrmacht, inserting himself as one of the beneficiaries. Of course, in the chaos of the war’s end, nobody bothered with these things until it was too late. Indeed, Max’ father inherited the noble title once the nobleman turned up deceased.

Of course, the nobleman’s true family was none too please that some lowly clerk had pilfered even the slightest advantage from them. During the division of the inheritance, they saddled him with no money, but gave him all the things and shits that nobody wanted. Old furniture, cabinets, miscellaneous items, standing clocks, a coat of armour… Anything they did not want they gave to the Müller family. Of course, besides the title, they did not receive any money or estates, so they were forced to store everything in their garage, being too proud to do away with it.

After being set upon gangsters, assassins and other dangerous folks, life became very bleak for the Müller family. When the communists came to power, the Müller family decided to turn tail and run, although they could have just given up their title without problem. In fact, the somewhat poor Müller family had a lot to gain from the socialist takeover of Germany, but they would not have it. They escaped to the least communist country on earth, the good old US of A. There, they had a child, whom they named Maximillian. This is the beginning of his story.

Now, Maximillian was in many ways better than his peers. Or so he thought, at least. Growing up in a poor neighbourhood in New York City, Maximillian always looked down on his non-aristocratic, pauper friends. His parents, so they told him, had elected to live in a poor neighbourhood to teach him a sense of humility in life, so he could strike out on his own. Knowing this, Max tried to show his compatriots that he was superior in most ways. Although he almost never succeeded, he could find evidence of his own aristocratic superiority in almost everything he did. He read a lot of books, mostly history books on his own adopted noble heritage.

This started a trend that would follow Maximillian his whole life: if he had put a tenth of the time he spent being smug into actually reading about the things he claimed to be knowledgeable, he would have been a true expert in many fields if artistry. However, he based his knowledge mainly on his blue blood, and not on any true knowledge. In fact, he did not bother to go to college, since that was in his eyes an institution for those who did not have his own natural intelligence. Instead, he went off into the wide world to regale the world with his own knowledge of all things art.

It took Maximillian a long time to find his first proper, steady job. Many museums did not take him seriously, on account that his CV was mostly blank and filled with references to his ancestors who had been patrons of art. After a year and a half of traveling around and doing all kinds of demeaning peasant work, like waiting tables, Maximillian finally found someone willing to take him on. It was an Italian art auction establishment, which was only too happy to take him on. They provided him not only with a large salary, but also with official credentials. Maximillian was not aware that these private institutions were not allowed to give off these credentials, so he saw nothing wrong with it. For ten years, he worked proudly at the company, which was more like a family than anything else. Every time he valued a piece of art, it would sell exactly at that number, which made Maximillian feel very clever.

One day, however, this all ended. The auction house was busted by police for reasons Maximillian did not quite understand. The words ‘Mafia’ and ‘Money laundering’ were used, but since Maximillian did not know exactly what those things did, he just smiled and claimed innocence. Once again on the street, but now with credentials, the next job was a breeze to find. This time, it was as a curator at a museum in Chicago. It was here that he learnt the language of the art world. At least, he learnt how to say the words, not exactly what they meant. Since the art world is generally very vague, however, he got away with it. He even published a few books on the subject, which were so incoherent and vague that they were seen as visionary and genius by a small portion of the art world. However, various requests of Maximillian to the board for the acquisition of certain pieces were denied because of extraordinary costs, which led him to resign from his post. This was also something that would follow him all his professional life: he would get hired, get angry at some board or manager, and then quit.
Until now, that is. After his latest fight with the board of directors at an art gallery, he wound up applying for a job at the Daily Carrot. His motives are less than selfless, however. He sees the small newspaper as a good way to become his own, after his famous name makes the art column the crowning jewel of the newspaper. Then, he will use it to bring down all those who wronged him in the past by writing nasty things about them. However, that is something for the future.
Requests for your workspace: “Since we stand at the beginning of this here venture, I will be modest in my requests. Having an office with natural daylight and a large wooden desk shall be satisfactory, if I be allowed to bring in some of my own furniture to decorate it! And I shan’t share my office with anyone, sir! My mind requires total isolation! Bah!”
Request for secondary job: Writing a column about anything
Preferred Type of Coverage: Arts
Likes: Culture, art, people who think he sounds clever, people who wrote his book
Dislikes: Actual experts, historians, socialists
Running Gags: Likes to use big words, but always gets them wrong in nuance.
Other notes you feel are important for your employer to know: “I require business cards with my full name and title!”

And I hadn't forgotten about Maximillian August Wolfgang Schubert Müller! He is also ACCEPTED

I like this idea, so I made an app. I noticed some bits in your lore other applications weren't noting, and ran with them.

Name: Isaacarine Domeka Rosenberg
Age: (Child Labor is allowed at Daily Carrot. I just let that sink in.) 14
Sex: female
Appearance: (Photo or word description is allowed, however be extremely detailed with word description)
Image

Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: Ridiculous sense of humor, writing skills, knows two languages (English and Voxi), and entrepreneurial experience (see below).
Previous Employment, N/A if none: Set up a lemonade stand when she was 8 and joined the circus for 4 years.

Explain More About Yourself: (AKA your biography)
Isaacarine was born in Nameless Town, a town near Anywhere City, to a Voxijan mother and a Jewish father. They met in Italy and moved to Nameless Town to "breed character in their kids". Isaacarine did indeed get character: she started behaving like a cartoon character. Everyone in Nameless Town hated Isaacarine for her childish pranks and general mayhem.
Isaacarine started a lemonade stand when she was 8. She loved the experience so much that she wanted to get a real job. No one would hire her because she was a kid.
Isaacarine's parents, whose names don't matter, had five other kids. All the other kids got character, and not the cartoon kind. Eventually, Isaacarine's parents sold her to the circus. The circus was in town, and Isaacarine wanted to join so badly that she begged her parents for a week. In the circus, Isaacarine's act was "The Psychic Kid". Isaacarine would try to predict the future and always get it horribly wrong. People loved that act, and Isaacarine realized her talent was in parody.
Isaacarine got into writing while at the circus as well. She would write jokey love poems to all the freaks. She also learned money management and other "adult skills". Isaacarine was in the circus for four years, from when she was 9 to when she was 13.
A week before her 14th birthday, the circus stopped in Anywhere City. This was the last stop the circus would make, since it was being forcibly shut down due to accusations of animal cruelty. Isaacarine said goodbye to her circus friends and bought a small apartment with her own money saved up from years at the circus. And now she wants to work at the Daily Carrot.
Requests for your workspace (optional): (Don't piss off the Daily Carrot by using their money to appeal to your selfish needs) "Hmm. Yes! I would like one of those bird plastic desk toys where the bird goes down into a cup, drinks the water, and jumps up again. Just that."
Request for secondary job (optional): (if your character feels bored at their standard job as a journalist, they can apply for a secondary job at the same building. Helps to increase the paycheck) Maybe janitorial duty.
Preferred Type of Coverage (optional): (Ex: Sports, Politics, Cooking, Arts, Etc.) Human interest, literary criticism, interviews with famous people, and listicles.
Likes and Dislikes (optional): Likes: Germans (sometimes), watermelons, cheese, writing, making jokes, affecting funny accents, being called "Id", and being called "ID".
Dislikes: Germans (other times), memes, feminists, bugs, ducks, mean people, people making a big deal about her age, and being called "Sugar".
Running Gags (optional): Isaacarine calls people she doesn't like "Vascos". She stubs her toe a lot. Quotes memes sometimes but doesn't like memes. Isaacarine has a Voxijan accent, which means she sometimes exchanges Vs for Bs and vice versa. Saying "I don't scream" and then screaming.
Other notes you feel are important for your employer to know (optional): Isaacarine is absolutely okay with sexist jokes and "harmless remarks". However, she doesn't like them enough to be considered "likes".

Man, there's a lot of quotation marks in there. Works for journalism, though.

I think that by now I've created more lore for my nation than most real-world nations have.

Had to look up your nation of Voxija to know more about the nation's lore, however I'm still able to let it slide since Voxija can be found on Earth.

With Isaacarine being the youngest member of the Daily Carrot, she is ACCEPTED

The IC will come soon! I just need to finish up the apps for both of my two characters, and I can start the gears of the printing press for the Daily Carrot to be into business!

Name: Francis Smith
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Appearance:
Image

Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: "Ehhh.. I guess it's because I'm the son of my late editor in-chief father I didn't know existed that makes me skilled?"
Previous Employment, N/A if none:
- Janitor for WallsMart
- IKEA worker
- Used Car Salesman for Eric's Used Ford Pintos Dealership

Explain More About Yourself: McKennedy Smith was the late and former editor in-chief of The Daily Carrot. An ambitious man, who was part of the Fine Arts section of The Daily Carrot, even assisting the arts community within Anywhere City by dumpster diving in landfills and rubbish bins for materials for some sculptures. The lack of bathing or showing was worth it in the end. At the rise of his career before his start as Editor In-Chief, McKennedy managed to pull some strings with some other magazines to have the Daily Carrot do a special polar expedition, where the issue did extensive coverage on the Extreme Aquatics Club Championships, an event that gave many swimmers frostbite all over their bodies. However, the brandy helped with some!

As the Daily Carrot was doing some excellent issues on events outside of Anywhere City, such as a trip to the Fire Eating Pop-Up Muesum in Mexico City, McKennedy finally got promoted. He was more of an adventurer around that time, as he was doing more daring activities. This...led to his inevitable demise at the Bermuda Triangle.

At his funeral, McKennedy's last will and testament was announced and details on who would be the next editor in-chief, many believed the role will be chosen to Frisk Papperman, a posh styled digital journalist, who was known for his cutthroat tactics at the office. In the biggest surprise that no one has saw coming, along with being a big relief to many, the role of editor in-chief went to Francis Smith, a car salesman in a dead-end job in New Jersey.

Wait what?

In a surprise, Francis Smith was revealed to be born by McKennedy Smith and an estranged spouse while McKennedy was covering a month-long story. McKennedy broke off the relationship when he discovered that he had gotten the spouse pregnant, while Francis was born without the knowledge of his own biological father. Many of the staff were shocked by this knowledge, where Papperman started a tantrum that McKennedy would sell his title to a son that no one was aware of. This could have been justified, hadn't Frisk wrote several defamatory articles blaming the Daily Carrot for various things (from accusing the magazine of supporting an UFO religion to even saying that McKennedy likes to use the back roll of toilet paper. Luckily, he managed to get fired for this.

Francis Smith later gotten word that he was now the editor in-chief of The Daily Carrot, much to his surprise, where he finally learnt who his true father is after so many years. Francis didn't really have a choice. He was caught in a set of dead-end jobs, his current one selling Ford Pintos (which no one brought) at an used car dealership was practically worthless, it was even a surprise that his boss still gives him a paycheck (though Smith guessed the money was from his boss selling drugs, possibly an explanation for why the dealership was still in "business"). It wasn't easy preparing for his new job, since he decided to pretty much sell his rubber band ball collection for some money for his trip.

Francis is practically a complete polar opposite of his father McKennedy. McKennedy is known for his upbeat and easy-going nature, while Francis is a melancholic and cynical man, unsatisfied at how things are going in his view. Not knowing anything about Anywhere City, he managed to rent an apartment across the Daily Carrot offices, where he made sure to look presentable in his new job lifestyle. After all, what could go wrong?
Requests for your workspace (optional): A liquor cabinet, several bookcases, some artwork to make office lively, scale model of offices, a goldfish bowl with fish and water, and a radio.
Request for secondary job (optional): N/A
Preferred Type of Coverage (optional): Lifestyle and Culture.
Likes and Dislikes (optional): N/A
Running Gags (optional): N/A
Other notes you feel are important for your employer to know (optional): Son of the late McKennedy Smith, Former Editor In-Chief of The Daily Carrot

Name: Jean-Marc Consommer
Age: 62
Sex: Male
Appearance:
A pompous grey-haired man with green eyes, wearing a pair of spectacles and having a golden-headed cane decorated with a boar head. He is short at about 5'6, while his overall weight appears to be around 250 lbs, however he is surprisingly agile. He wears a white button-up shirt with an orange vest and bowtie. He wears a brown overcoat with khaki pants and black vintage shoes. He wears some flashy accessories, such as a Swiss watch on his left hand, a custom-made belt buckle for a brown belt and shining ruby ring on his left index finger.
Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: Has cooking experience, "professional" food critic, knows French so well that one can tell that Google Translate was used.
Previous Employment, N/A if none: Owner and Head Chef of La spécialité du porc.

Explain More About Yourself: Jean-Marc Consommer is a bit of a celebrity. Once was, however he's still aware that he is one to not be messed with. Back in the glory days of the 70s, he was a lone hotshot from the city of Monaco in France. He had long sought for his own restaurant, where he managed to save up enough money from selling souvenirs of the Eiffel Tower after the family moved to Paris. While life in France in the 70s were modest, his opened restaurant did garner attention, since Jean-Marc was appealing to traditional French cuisine, where locals were praising the food.

"La spécialité du porc" it was called, when one asked what the name of Consommer's restaurant was as it was, when the restauarant was almost the epicenter of the romantic Paris lifestyle. But all good things must go to an end. In 1984, a year that Jean-Marc has dreaded, Jean-Marc's restaurant was involved with a bizarre murder. As Jean-Marc explained to authorities, he was heading to his restaurant in the early morning to notice that the back door to the kitchen was already open. Peeking inside, he found a sous chef choked to death with a flounder shoved deep into his throat. Due to circumstances relating to the victim, as he had ties to drug trafficking in New York, the murder was assumed to be a mob hit. Then, after trying to find a replacement chef, Jean-Marc was in Nice when he recieved a phone call that his restaurant had burned down, along with some of his profits being stolen.

In the end, it was revealed to be the work of a disgruntled rival restaurant owner, who seeked to make Consommer's life a living hell. While he tried to make several comebacks, he was shocked to learn that his restaurant would be replaced by a fast food "megaplex" as Jean-Marc explained. While a lot of people in France were still serving French cuisine, many people were starting to branch out, much to a disillusioned Jean-Marc. Then, he just vanished.

What he did for a couple of years he explained around the 00's was that he traveled across the globe to nearly every culinary landmark in the planet. While he was growing frail from actual cooking, he decided to eat and eat, until he has consumed all. He was later discovered in a Tibetan temple by a fellow adventurer, who recognized him from a dated food magazine. That adventurer turned out to be McKennedy Smith, who invited him back to the USA, since he was interested in learning more about Jean-Marc's lifestyle. Jean-Marc decided to do so, even being surprised how he managed to get this far into his journey without knowing any of the languages from the countries he visited that wasn't France.

One plane ride to the states and an interview with the Daily Carrot in a 2010 article, Jean-Marc learned how to speak English where he became a food critic, reviewing other restuarants. Though he wasn't proud with his first reviews, since they talked little of the actual food, it was still a revival for him. So much so that he was offered to be a judge on MasterChef. This....actually backfired horribly, as Jean-Marc was reported to have decked Joseph Bastianich in the face. "Jackarse was a prick!"

In the end, Jean-Marc ended up becoming a food critic and journalist for the Daily Carrot in Anywhere City. As long as his palette wasn't empty, he was satisfied.
Requests for your workspace (optional): "I request bottles of 1898 Pinot Noir! I bring my stuff to fit my necessities."
Request for secondary job (optional): N/A
Preferred Type of Coverage (optional): Cooking and Food.
Likes and Dislikes (optional): Claims to enjoys a dish that was served to him during his so-called "journey", however no one is able to know what dish he enjoyed. He does explain that one of the ingredients of the dish was steamed pumpkin. He heavily dislikes fast food for somewhat obvious reasons, though he seems to avoid using after-dinner mints from an "incident".
Running Gags (optional): One of Jean-Marc's running gags is his habit of reviewing extremely unusual restaurants he managed to know of. He would occassionally invite people to dine with him, however since the quality of the food would disgust his fellow patrons, many would immediately decline. Many newcomers of the Daily Carrot learned this lesson the hard way. Another gag is his paranoia with an after-dinner mint corporation that he claimed to have wronged and are seeking to kill him, however many assume this is just paranoia.
Other notes you feel are important for your employer to know (optional): Food Critic for The Daily Carrot

Ok, OP, just so you know, I won't be able to start in an IC until next week or so.

An outdoors writer would be acceptable, right?
Name: Daniel "Dutch" Van Dyke
Age: (Child Labor is allowed at Daily Carrot. I just let that sink in.) 56
Sex: Male
Appearance: (Photo or word description is allowed, however be extremely detailed with word description)Image
Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: knowledge of the outdoors, writing
Previous Employment, N/A if none: US Army, various

Explain More About Yourself: (AKA your biography)
I grew up on the family farm, out in rural Kentucky. I spent a good deal of my boyhood hiking, fishing, hunting, and working on the farm. My parents didn't have the money to send me or my brothers to college, so I enlisted in the Army in 1981, when I turned 18. The reason I picked the Army was because my dad, granddad, and various other relatives were Army vets. While on leave, just after Basic, I married my high school girlfriend, Kate Williams. I gained the nickname Dutch back in '83 because of my Dutch ancestry. I did a couple tours in the Gulf back in the early '90s. I retired from the Army as a Sergeant when I turned 50. I was planning on taking over the family farm, but my dad ended up saying my youngest brother, John, could do it. I've spent these last six years trying to find a steady source of income, and have moved my family around a bit. I tried my hand at selling cars, guiding hunters, and carpentry, but I found I didn't like building furniture for other people, I didn't like lying to customers, and I found I didn't like having to deal with clients. My wife and I eventually ended up in this area, despite the lack of woods around here, but I need the money. Then, last year, my eldest son suggested I try my hand at writing about the outdoors. I found I liked writing about the wilderness on the Internet. I've seen a lot of different wildernesses, from the woods of Kentucky to the deserts of Kuwait.

GCCS' app convinced me that this RP is worth investing in.

Whether or not I never come back with an app, come back with an app and nothing else, or actually post both app and roleplay... is something I leave to the whims of practically no one else.

However, if I do drop by next time (and the next time... and the next time... and the next time...), I claim dibs for a "Nowhere Land" within Anywhere City, because of course it should have one.

I was thinking of sending in an app, kinda deciding on whether or not I could do a War correspondant, a cartoonist/comic artist, or both.

How would stuff like comics work, would I need to draw up my own stuff or could I just describe it?

Also had an idea that my character would also be an undercover agent, like Agent 86 from Get Smart. Overtly covert, as well as unluckily lucky. (Gets into bad situations as quickly as she gets out of them) would something like that work?

I would think you could just describe comics and artwork, unless you were extremely motivated.

I think you could describe it, but how funny would it be if you did all your cartoons in MS paint stick figures and called it an 'art style'?

It's possible to add comics (both describe them wordly or add them as images, though for the latter, don't have them take up too much space in a post). For an undercover agent, it could be useful for a story arc your character might be involved with, but I don't want them to accidently cause harm towards other characters who don't wish to get involved.

Sounds good. Just don’t know what would be more comedic, for her to just be an innocent comic artist only for her to turn out to be an undercover agent, or for her just to be the lesbian straight man?

Age: 24

Skills you believe will make you qualified for the workplace: Investigative skills, interview experience, insane amounts of luck, knowledgeable in nine languages (Russian, Mandarin, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian, and German).
Previous Employment, N/A if none: Sweet Nothings Co, Ltd. (Front for CONTROL, a spy agency).

Explain More About Yourself: Caroline Digby was born in Mediama at the tail end of the Cold War in 1996. Despite this, her family, involved in an American spy agency called CONTROL, still had their secret war with KAOS as they continuously continued their war for global domination (Sans Soviet funding). Because of this, Caroline (Carol to her friends) grew up around a spy-oriented family. Being the envy of her peers for having the 'cooler toys' (shoe phones, panic button erasers, disguise kits, and recorders attached to dolls, etc).

As she grew up, she began to receive more and more training from her parents how to be the (theoretically) perfect spy. She began her first mission when she was 17, where she had to make a dead drop in the middle of a cuckoo clock factory. To this day she still has nightmares from that first mission, and has an abnormal fear of cuckoo clocks. And so all she's known for most of her life is her balance between her 'normal' life, and her life in the shadows.

She still found time to follow her passions in art, and eventually was able to graduate from both Secondary, and then community college, in art, playing into her cover as an illustrator for Sweet Nothings Co; Ltd. , a front for CONTROL agents. While she was in college, working for the school paper as a comic artist, she began to pick up journalism as well, and since part of the journalistic process involved questioning people, her parents encouraged her pursuits.

Nevertheless, she had a job to do, keeping KAOS in check and saving the world time and time again from certain doom. A job that she felt like didn't come to par with her passions. And so as soon as she was relocated to Anywhere City under the American branch for CONTROL, she decided to look up for a job listing for another job, and found a listing for The Daily Carrot, a small newspaper office just across from CONTROL's office.

With that in mind she filled out her resume, took the clipping of the job listing, and walked straight across the room to the newspaper office.

Requests for your workspace (optional): N/A
Request for secondary job (optional): Continued employment at Sweet Nothings Co; Ltd. (front for CONTROL).

Likes and Dislikes (optional): Likes: Girls, Sweets, CONTROL, Coffee, Books, Art. Dislikes: KAOS, cuckoo clocks, Casey Nicetat (for some reason, doesn't really say in her personnel file).
Running Gags (optional): Considered to be the top Agent for Control, yet insanely accident prone and seemingly inept at her job (almost to the same levels as their previous agent, Agent 86), and yet somehow, she has been able to outrun death multiple times, and accidently do stuff that had effectively foiled KAOS' plans time and time again, much to their chagrin. She's also overtly covert. She also dresses and acts like she's in the 1960's, as do all the agents for CONTROL... and KAOS... at times forgetting that certain 2020 tech exists.

Not to worry, much of Carol’s accidents will be at her (and her spy co-workers, and KAOS’) expense. Most of the time. I’ll be sure to TG people or let them know on the OOC thread if I decide to rope them into it.

Not to worry, much of Carol’s accidents will be at her (and her spy co-workers, and KAOS’) expense. Most of the time. I’ll be sure to TG people or let them know on the OOC thread if I decide to rope them into it

Feel free to involve DeMarcus in any of your spy antics if you want a sports reporter with questionable photography skills involved.
