Background: Born a peasant girl in Cyprus, Cytherea grew up during the beginning of the end of the Ottoman Empire. The sick man of Europe had been loosening its control of the various Greek Islands that surrounded the Anatolian peninsula. She struggled and did what she could to survive, acting as a healer, maid and fortuneteller in Limassol in her teens before catching the attention of a noble lady visiting during a tour of the east. The woman, after having had her fortune read, became fast friends with Cytherea, and brought her back to England as a permanent fixture of her house and retinue. In the few years following, Cytherea became known as a socialite of her own renown, a notorious gossip and the successful matchmaker of not more than five separate noble marriages. None of whom have been beset by marital discord, yet she herself has never indicated she wanted a marriage. As of 1874, the lady of whom granted Cytherea a new world and new chance has succumbed to the ravages of tuberculosis, and left her great fortune to Cytherea.

The family did not flourish there, and in 1860 they again fled the kingdom and went to London at the heart of the British Empire. Enyo grew up as a hardened youth in the streets of London, joining several rabble rousing gangs and participating in underground boxing during his adolescent years. With some growing fame as a rake from these endeavours, Enyo found himself as a hanger on at parties as hired muscle for aristocrats and rich men. In this time Cytherea caught his eye, and he courted her for months, but found himself rejected at least that's what everyone was told. Enyo also enlisted in the British Army some time ago, and has recently returned from the Third Ashanti War. He loves to regale people with tales of the combat in which he served, and is and always was a close companion to Cytherea, and is rarely seen not in her orbit.
