Buscoduci, die xi. Martii 1627

I, the Dean, and the entire chapter of S. John's Cathedral in 's-Hertogenbosch, give thanks for this question about the state of our roads. For it is an important matter that greatly helps to reduce the number of accidents on our roads, that foreign people learn about the traffic rules in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Driving side: according to custom, most people drive on the left side of the road. There are some places where driving on the right side is common, but this is an exception. There is not much fast-moving traffic on our roads, so this usually is not a problem.
Total roads:
· Paved(%):
12%, for the largest part in the cities and some more important roads connecting these cities.
· Unpaved(%): 88%, most of these in the rural parts of the diocese.
Maximum speed: There is no maximum speed. I mean, how fast a horse can run, that's the maximum speed. You surely can't go any faster.
Average condition of roads: The local Lord is responsible for the upkeep of the road and the best roads are usually toll roads because those generate enough money to pave them, for example.
Amount of vehicles registered: Vehicles are not registered. Why on earth would you do that?

Kind regards,
Joannes Hermans

that she will guide us. Amen.

Inspiration for country
It should be obvious my country is based in Nevada. I think of it as if The u.s.a and Libertarianism had a child. Physically a lot of inspiration is taken from Fallout: 1, Fallout:2 and Fallout: New Vegas. My government is based on the New California Republic From fo2 and fnv. Even the nuclear retaliation plan is taken from Fnv’s Dead money dlc. I even once argued with a BOS role player, over which faction was better (you know who you are)

Nuclear retaliation plan salida del Sol

Nukes in neighboring countries: nuke them more and ransack the country. Citizens get into nuclear bunkers
Small nuked directed at us: Nuclear Shield Prescott would direct the nukes back at their home countries (Remember when you used to be able to nuke things in NS). If that fails, Operation Orión commences, citizens are taken to nuke shelters. And NAF bombs the hell outta the attacking country

Large Nukes: same thing as small nuked except rad bombs are dropped on attacking country

If we lose: Citizens are evacuated. And we target everything in radius with bombs

Great Nortend has a number of common male Christian names which are uncommon in other English-speaking countries. Most are variants of standard English names, but some are distinctive of Erbonian English. These include :

  • Alain : Variant of Alan typical of the South.
  • Alaric : Common in Hambria
  • Bartram : Variant of Bertram
  • Clerenbold
  • Colling : Variant of Colin
  • Godbert
  • Guilliam : Variant of William typical of Close Counties area.
  • Hughe : Variant of Hugh
  • Wischard

Hughe is in fact the standard spelling of Hugh in Great Nortend. A Godbert Fuller is an stereotyped Gardolian man who is cheerful to everyone except his family.

Is the Military as an institution viewed positively or negatively by the public (and which groups view it positively/negatively):

This varies from group to group. The majority of the population, especially the urban and suburban populations, would generally view the military positively or would not outwardly present a negative opinion towards the military. Members associated with the nation's legislature, The Central Directorate, or other aspects of the government would have (obviously) very favorable opinions towards the nation's military. The same would be said for any members associated with the political upper class.

Disdain for the state military stems mainly from more rural populations, especially among certain groupings of nomadic peoples in the far east. The Acts of Consolidation in the 40s and 50s saw a heavy military presence extend to the rural regions of the country to more forcefully implement reforms to education, local governing, and linguistics. Certain communities in the far east also suffered famine & local political purges which typically place them at odds with the national, centralized government.

Are officers viewed positively or negatively:

An officer is typically viewed with respect by the population, just as one might view any other member of the military. This could vary from position to position. Those involved in duties of homeland security and intelligence might be viewed with a different type of respect than a naval officer, for example.

What qualities are officers viewed as having

Officers are typically viewed as having a high level of discipline, responsibility, and patriotism. As well as having excellent leadership, problem solving, and communication abilities. This is certainly not always the case in reality.

Are soldiers viewed positively or negatively?

This varies from person to person and group to group. In general soldiers are viewed positively, though again groups at odds with state interests would view them in a negative light.

What qualities are soldiers viewed as having?

A soldier would (generally) be viewed as someone brave, selfless, and strong (mentally and physically). In the far east of the country soldiers might be viewed as cowardly killers among more rebellious groups of peoples.

How does the Military influence society?

Since the 1910s and the downfall of the aristocracy the military has had a greater influence on society. For a period of time in the 1920s and again in the 1960s the military operated as the chief governing body, during periods wherein the Grand Directorate was unstable. Military culture, that is certain values such as discipline and patriotism, has also influenced certain aspects of general society.

How does society influence the Military?

Though the military has had a major hand in shaping modern culture in Altiqala certain elements of general society have indeed influenced the military. More traditional religious beliefs have influenced the military, typically in the occasional favoring of individuals from certain prestigious clans / lineages receiving special treatment / receiving center leadership positions. The military also serves to maintain the status quo of the nation, and uphold the values espoused by the Grand Directorate

Are there any festivals linked to the Military

Yes, there is a celebration of Civic Service on February 1st. This includes the military as well as bureaucrats, educators, and healthcare workers. There is also a specific Veteran's Celebration on July 9th.

What jobs do the chief ethnicities primarily occupy? Are any groups denied work because of racial or ethnic heritage? There is no discrimination based on ethnicity alone but Wolfians have proved smarter than the other two races, Ninlaians to be more creative, and Baristolans to be the strongest.
What are typical attitudes of the native (or majority) ethnos to immigrants and other ethnicities? They're all accepting of each other, though there are memories of when Baristolans were oppressing Wolfians and REALLY oppressing Ninlaians, but "reverse-racism" is no less frowned upon as "regular racism".
How has any variety of ethnicity in the region changed the society’s culture? Saishikaran culture was the first culture to really modernize itself in the continent of Zeganas, and has dominated the culture and competed with Baristolan culture eversince.
