Its not over if the delegate math isn't yet impossible for Bernie. If Joe Biden really is the best, then he should be able to get past one final debate against Sanders. If he bombs, it'll go to show what a bad pick he is. If Biden succeeds, he can prove all naysayers like me wrong and perhaps won't have anything to worry about against Trump.

I mean technically he could come back, the math is there. But he would need to pick up an unimaginably large victory in multiple states where he does not stand a chance, like Florida and Pennsylvania.

It could happen, but it's way outside the realm of probability.

It would be like saying Trump COULD win re-election, but he would need to win California.

It's technically possible, but exceedingly unlikely. He should face that fact and now out, unite the party and get on with beating Trump in November. If the roles were reversed, its the same thing I would be telling Joe Biden.

It's over. 538 has Sanders at less than 1% chance of the nom. Sanders is behind Biden by 160 delegates, and the states in which he is most favourable have already voted. The fact that he lost MA, MI, TX, MN and now possibly WA (super tight atm) makes a comeback all but impossible. Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York haven't voted yet and Sanders will lose all four in a landslide.

Barring Biden getting the Coronavirus, he will be the Democratic nominee.

I think Biden will win NY but not by a landslide. AOC and the urban progressives will probably make it a tougher fight there for Biden than Hillary faced in 2016.

Best guess is that itll be something like 55-45 or something like that.
Pretty sure it was almost 60-40 for Hillary.

You really going to vote for someone who's against your best interest deep down, maybe even more so than Trump?

The Biden team has been freaking out in how to get young voters to back him in the general. And even with the media basically having called this primary last week Sanders still won Hispanics and young people overwhelmingly tonight. I'm sure Biden's past comments on millennials and his current god awful positions will make it easy to bring young people on board.

538 has it 52-26 percentage split between Biden and Sanders, which IMO counts as a landslide. The fact that it went 60-40 for Hillary, a deeply disliked candidate who performed worse in 2016 than Biden is performing now, shows how incredibly difficult it would be for Sanders to win New York.

Fracking is no good, even more so than nuclear power. The only positive contribution it makes is decreasing carbon emissions slightly via making available a cleaner burning fuel and closing down coal plants because natural gas is permanently cheaper now. The cons of fracking still outweigh the benefits generally speaking. It is ruining aquifers and is causing earthquakes.

We'll need to abandon fracking down the road anyways, once the negative externalities become more evident. Natural gas is a uniquely pitiful "bridge fuel" that we have to abandon just as much as other fossil fuels, unless we want to deal with recapturing that additional released CO2 and methane in the coming decades.

Sure, but fracking is a big part of the Pennsylvania economy. Regardless of whether fracking is good or not, being anti-fracking will put you at a significant disadvantage in winning Pennsylvania come November.

While I'm personally very pro-free trade, I agree that protectionism is the one policy advantage Sanders has over Biden at winning the midwest. But regardless, I don't think that outweighs the socialist label in the minds of most midwesterners, and I'd argue that Biden winning Michigan, Minnesota and leading in polls for the rest of the midwest demonstrates this fact.

Voters here don't care about the socialist label and that was proven in 2018 and in numerous polls since. Biden will get destroyed here unlike Sanders.

No. The Dems took back the House because they ran moderates in swing states and flipped them. Left-wing congressmen like AOC won in districts that were already blue.

Kruiven wrote:Yeah Presidents Gore, Kerry, and Clinton approve of the boring centrist strategy.

Bill won two terms. Obama (whose campaign was more to the centre than Biden's is) won two terms. Gore came very close.

Kerry was facing an incumbant during a period of economic growth and the war on terror, no Democrat would've won.
Hillary was an outlier and in part a victim of 20 years of far-right conspiracies.

McGovern ran against an unpopular Nixon in the midst of the Vietnam War and Watergate, and won only 17 electoral votes. UK voters sent Corbyn to the shadow realm, giving Labour their worse loss since the 1930s. Tony Blair won a landslide victory and was in power for a decade. The Median Voter Theorem is a real thing you know.

Obama was seen as someone so left wing he could never win. Interestingly also had overwhelming youth support. Republicans tried everywhere to smear everyone as a socialist and it didn't work in the Midwest. Gore, Kerry, and Hillary follow the long trend of Dems nominating boring centrists with no appeal at all and then wondering why they lost.

His voting record in congress is enough for me to conclude that it is nonetheless his true sentiments and loyalties. Even if we were to be generous in concluding that it was only out of context- it matters not; because it can nonetheless be made into a devastating attack ad from the Trump camp.

Joe Biden says he was ready to prostitute himself for mega donors, they said to come back when he was 40- he did exactly that.

It's not over for Bernie Sanders. He's behind by about 150 delegates, and there's still a lot more states that haven't had their primaries yet. I will support Sanders until the end of the primary and I'll be voting for him in the general, hopefully as the Democratic candidate but I'll write him in if I have to.

It'll keep being the lesser of two evils if they don't learn their lesson: that a sizeable part of the left doesn't support what they want, doesn't want the milquetoast half-ass policies that they want. It keeps the Overton window firmly to the Right and ensures nothing ever substantially changes.

As for you supporting Trump, that much is obvious considering how you spoke positively about an absolute shitstain like Mike Bloomberg.
