Considering his campaign said he will still appear on Sunday's debate, that seems wrong.

On the one hand, he's clearly signalled that he wants a VP that will hopefully deal with the "no more old white men" faction of the party, so Harris seems likely. On the other, I'd think some of his campaign staff would be cynical and shrewd enough to be thinking about choosing his VP from a swing or purple-ish state, so maybe Sinema, Klobuchar or Baldwin.

Baldwin is an extra checkbox because she would be the first openly gay vice president.

And unlike Klobuchar, she's yet to be accused of being in the pocket of big stapler.

Harris is a cop.

IIRC, as a prosecutor was nowhere near as progressive as she now claims to be.

Plus as the DA she ran the prisons like labor camps, wanted to send moms to jail if they didn't send their kids to school, tried blocking evidence that would free a guy on death row, and more that I can't remember because it's late.

No, but it's allowed for a subpar healthcare system where I personally just refuse to see doctors unless I'm fucking dying because of the price, it's allowed for income inequality to reach such a point that the "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" is dead for many folks. It's allowed driven, well-educated individuals to fall into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt for pursuing a dream like being a Doctor or Lawyer, two professions that are supposedly well-respected.

And most importantly, it's contributed tenfold to the continued destruction of our planet. Neoliberal bandaids on climate change ultimately do nothing, especially when neoliberal trade agreements have no respect for the environment, none whatsoever.

I'm speaking from an American perspective, you Canadians at least had a fair shake of more moderate, centrist democracy, we've been cutthroat, laissez-faire and neoliberal for decades, and it's fucking gruesome. Society hasn't collapsed, but it's mighty bleak.
