It makes me wonder where Hong Kong is going to accommodate arrivals from China for 14 days...

Per the announcement..
From 12.01am on 8 February onwards, all those arriving from mainland China will be required to undertake 14 days of mandatory home quarantine. Depending on the circumstances, quarantine could take place in government facilities or at home. The Hong Kong SAR government has indicated it will announce further details of the quarantine measures in due course.

Cats and dogs are the first to be culled when authorities have no idea what they’re doing in times of disease.
Kinda stupid.

Does this virus even transmit to or travel upon dogs or cats?

Many of them likely will not have a home here, so extensive quarantine facilities will need to be set up somewhere.

Actually HK Disneyland would be a decent option since they've been closed since late January and have plenty of hotel space. They could also recoup some costs by charging the government.Genivaria wrote:

I vary as to how often I check Telegram these days but I'm pretty sure I saw a video of people throwing their pets out of high rises when the rumour first started.

Above is the link for CNN's updates on the situation in China with the Coronavirus.
Apparently, Hong Kong's reported its 38th case. And according to the live database that Johns Hopkins keeps, Hong Kong has the third highest number of cases outside of Mainland China. This is potentially worrying, if not bad enough for Hong Kong.

Well, because Carrie Lam's insistent that Hong Kong's not shutting its border, that's kind of inevitable given the (relatively) high medical standards and proximity to PRC. Of course, it doesn't help that since the weather's coldest during Chines New Year, many people decide to enjoy some hot pot with their relatives. Unfortunately, the combination of a relatively long incubation period, the later knowledge that 2019-nCoV can transmit through aerosol, and the fact that sharing a pot with others aren't the most hygienic thing to begin with, it ends up posing a high risk of transmission for many - I think up to 10 individuals among the known cases are believed to be caused by one such hot pot dinner, where an infected individual shared the pots with 18 (!) family members.
Edit: The number's 42 now, according to local news outlet. Thanks a lot, Carrie!

I heard it's at 47 now.
Edit: I misread a CNA headline about Singaporean cases, so I guess it still stays at 42, for now.
Finally, most countries would do otherwise and comply with Beijing's poor reasoning and remove any "anti-China" artwork.

Good, I am glad someone is standing up to the PRC’s outrageous demands that no one should be allowed to criticize its oppression in Taiwan.
The only sad thing is it is a temporary display, not a permanent one.
Funny how apparently Amnesty International is an “anti China organization” for standing up for the rights of Chinese people.
