Most sentient nonhumans, such as cows and dogs, are eaten or kept as pets.

Sapient nonhumans, such as the synthetic sapiences that run our most advanced pieces of military hardware, do not have nonhuman rights under Catarapanian law.

They have full civil and political rights, mind you, but as embodied sapient beings, they qualify as legally human!

Several non-human species also reside on Earth alongside the majority Human population. Immigration is open to all outside of Earth, and so while some Humans immigrate back to their homeworld, plenty of aliens of several different species also reside here. Aliens can gain Earth citizenship, but only if they are second-generation residents. The most populous of the alien species which reside here on Earth are the Funume, a semi-humanoid species who are known well through the galaxy as traders and merchants, and they make up a little over 1% of the total population of Earth. Other alien populations, such as the Viisk and Kythros, make up very small portions of the population but are still more prevalent here on Earth than any other Human world.

Ah yes. Ponies. Griffons. Hippogriffs. Yaks. Changelings. Zebras.

They are all abundant in the Multiversal Empire, mingling with the human population of the central provinces of the Empire for centuries. Centuries and centuries of crossbreeding between the species have been done and at the end of things, most of the species found in the Empire are not truly pure samples of their species.

What? Specism? (Racism but for species) Noooooo.

Non-humans, you say?

Postby Draikos » Fri Jan 10, 2020 6:07 am

Draikos is resplendent with all manner of flora and fauna of the sapient variety, none of whom we see any reason to treat largely diffrrently than any other. Well... It's funny really that you should mention non-humans as the greatest difficulties we've faced are with sapients of the simian variety. And while we acknowledge that their millennia of evolution implies a lesser likelihood of tainting our morning tea with weaponised droppings, they do have proclivities and inclinations which I far more troubling.

Aside from being more territorial and aggressive than Draikos' other sapients—where even the most ludicrous, off-the-cuff comments can offend and lead to unexpected declarations of urban warfare which forces draconian intervention as our more peaceful sapients are ill-equipped to deal with them—they have some overwhelmingly misguided, paranoid notions about the democratically elected leaders of their nation.

Really, you should harken to their vivacious pleas to understand the difficulties we face. It's always "dragon-spell" this, "enchanted mind-control trinkets" that, or whatever other nonsense they've cooked up to stir and ignite their rebellious kind into a frothing, rabid whirlwind of ignoble zealotry and bigotry. To accuse us of enthralling minds is very rude! Can you imagine? How gauche! Besides, whenever exercised without consent the enslavement of a mind does permanent damage via the struggle of wills, oftentimes leaving the defeated in a sordidly despicable state, stricken dumb and devoid of identity. You'd notice if most of our populace were this way, you'd think. Indeed, we're very proud of having such a free-thinking, intellectual nation.

Certainly it is true that some have come to us to seek our aid with reconfiguring their grey matter into a more palatable state so that they might readily enjoy life more but this is all handled very strictly according to a contract of action agreed upon by both the supplicant and practitioner. Our healthcare legislature is notoriously stringent and regularly monitored for any sign of malpractise, malfeasance, and/or corruption. Our proud nation is a veritable paradise for a reason!

Still... It is difficult to disavow humans from whatever destructively implausible, nay zany, conspiratorial schemes they've concocted. We've had humans robbing our treasuries and injuring the guards to "reclaim the dragons' ill-gotten goods and selfishly hoarded treasures for the people" without any irony or sense of how the vast majority of our funds are spent caring for the vulnerable and infirm regardless. We've witnessed them kidnap foreign dignitaries away from democratic talks to, and I quote, "free the princesses from the clutches of those heinous beasts."

As vexed as we are by these deplorable "rescue" attempts we're even more baffled and dumbfounded by why their targets are always women. Our First Minister of the Medical Sciences suggested they might've fallen prey to some unspeakably bizarre malady but as of yet we've found no evidence of any malevolent microbial or mystical factors within our routine examinations that could explain their behaviour.

We were at our wits end. We tried classifying them as our national animal to shame them into better behaviour yet it only made things worse. We subsidised the development of a video game to bring them around, sadly to no avail. We thought our offering was delightfully clever, too! The nerve. A cousin on my brother's side, a bard of some renown, offered their penmanship to weave a tale of a human hero ensorcelled by a treacherous corruption, leaving s trail of devastation in their wake believing their harmful actions to be heroic. Another human sought after them at the behest of the Moon Goddess—a dragon, of course, to show us in a positive light—to halt their madcap misadventures and heal all those whose lives had been left in rack and ruin in the wake of this supposed hero.

It was all for naught.

At this point if any had aught worth the saying we'd have listened, and one did. A fringe scientist infamous for their controversial ideas, Dr. Stornthys Acaelwmvyr, suggested hybridising them with more sociable, less aggressive animals to temper the psychotic chimp within. What other choice did we have? No, we'd not force this upon them, never! We encouraged it with tax breaks and financial rewards, whilst instituting a tax upon remaining as a pure-strain human.

It was a resounding success! The hybrids have been much more well-behaved, especially those of the canine variety. Humanity has become quite the rare sight in Draikos with only a few pure-strain humans remaining. It's frowned upon and they are—of course—troublesome but they're still protected as sapients under the law. I really do wish the remnants would stop trying to rob our treasury vaults though... Honestly, what is it that they hope to ever accomplish?

So unrelentingly absurd.

I've heard there are nations out there managed and run by humans... Truly, it boggles the mind and barely bears thinking about! It must be nonsense, wouldn't they be e'er in a state of wild disarray? Then again, humans are so obsessed with themselves—even to go as far as to describe others as non-humans to imply themselves as some sick sort of default state—that in isolation they might achieve something bordering on competent and workable. Still, wouldn't their obsessions drive them to create divisions based upon trivialities like gender, skin/hair colour, and culture?

I don't think I'll ever fully understand humans, so much negativity that's quintessentially... human. It's as though they evolved to suffer and be miserable by default, and to dominate others so that their annexed lessers might share in their pathos. I'm over the moon that we could help them so much with hybridisation. I imagine Draikos will soon be a nation of non-humans and no great loss shall be felt.

Any sapient being that can communicate is protected under the constitution, as are androids. We've had dragons, dwarfs, elves, and a lot more, especially as I see the NS universe as connected and therefore all countries interact(except for the obvious "I am god almight bow before my nation for I am holier than thou" nations). In fact even though Draikos is saying what they are about humans, they have visited our country before, albeit through odd terms of occupation(We just simply jotted down their ship fleet designs and allowed them to stay or go.), very few of them actually stayed but we really had to re design our infrastructure layout to accommodate larger species.

Edit: Not Draikos, wrong dragon nation even though they both have very similar flags, and nation idea.

Protected species and wildlife reserves are given special rights where they are assigned a state lawyer whenever a company or person violates them and their laws.

AI has full citizenship and already runs many automated industries

Now flat earthers and anti vaxxers are in a special category - full human rights but are often...reeducated.

They are accepted but most of the population by some are referred to as “demons” as a slur.
Discrimination against jinn is a crime.

The kingdom's majority population is Sentient Non Humans. The majority are Fenrus and Direus, two large yet thin peoples, much of the remainder is the smaller BioAI, Ferien, a fox-like BioAI, the last is human brought AIs. Thus the nation treats Sentient Non Humans as equals.

In fact, the Cosmic Mainframe originates not from Earth, but from Altaia. Although it does control Earth, less than 1% of the sentient population is human. Other sentient races include the Vylons, the Khyrels, and the Altaians.

There is also a large population of sentient AI, which tend to be among the most respected and powerful.

Sentient nonhumans are okay. They are held to the same expectation of everything capable of crunching numbers: that they do so on behalf of the Mainframe.

Non-human sapient beings (referred to as NHSBs) have the same rights as humans, with adjustments to fit the species.
They are accepted as full-on members of society in Bessermia. Tourists are often freaked out when they see NHSBs.

Sentient nonhumans in the New Britannian State

Postby Britannia Maior » Sun Feb 09, 2020 3:35 am

Do sentient non-humans exist in your nation
As of this time of writing there exists no permanent non-human population or community in any of the country’s territories. It is possible that some may exist in hiding, but as far as the government knows, the state is inhabited solely by members of the human species.
What is your nation’s approach to non-humans?
Non-humans are unlikely to be at all welcome in the New Britannian State. Hypothetical non-human residents in the New Britannian State would be without rights or protections, and thus would for a time be either persecuted by the state or subject to mob hostility if not both. How quickly new laws regarding non-human rights and protections would depend on how human they are in body and mind, with the most humanlike receiving almost immediate protection whilst the less humanlike would continue to be persecuted.
Anything else?
Human supremacist attitudes would become the norm should non-human sentient species be discovered. If they’re alien and either on par or less advanced than us then a campaign of extermination and exploitation may be enacted. Otherwise, aliens and other non-human species would be barred from the country and generally viewed as vermin.

Should "monster girls" be discovered then, hypocritically, they’re likely to be accepted into Britannian society albeit slowly. The most humanlike would be the first to be integrated, followed by their more monstrous fellows. If "monster girls" existed in Britannia Maior then they may eventually come to be widely popular and sought after by many of the male population.

Sentient Nonhumans in the Human Star State
Sentient nonhumans in the Menschlicher Sternenstaat (known mainly as sophonts and specifically as xenoi) compose approximately thirty percent of the sentient population of the nation, or 204.6 billion. Historically, xenoi populations have been - at best - classified as second-class citizens of the Human Star State, and have suffered consequences as a result of the nation's programmes of human supremacism. Although many have suffered a degree of punishments in the past ranging from disenfranchisement to outright genocides, the billions that exist currently within the Sternenstaat live protected from the calamities of the rest of the galaxy and serve the state through bolstering its industrial, technological, agricultural, and martial capacities.
