Welcome!
Lets go with Garmiccian. I like the idea of my religious job being to smite heretics for some reason.
Also how many years ago did that last war happen?

Hybrid Elementals (tveirrekkr? I should figure out some Norse made-up word for them) can exist if the parents are strong Elementals from two different Elements, but they are very rare, and their command of either particular Element does not exceed the strength their parents or siblings could attain by only training with one. However, hybrid Elementals have only been recorded ever using two out of the "regular" eight. A few of them were granted the honour of Light magic, but such a thing is rare for "standard" Elementals and hybrid ones alike.
As far as a good background, I don't have any specific suggestions off the top of my head. Is there a certain type of character you enjoy roleplaying as, or that you find you have a knack for writing? Perhaps try looking at the composition of the group and see if there's a role that could complement the party as it currently is? Or think of something that has to do with the setting? This RP is a bit of a hodge-podge; the technology level of Galllia, the continent the story is set in, is analogous to our mid-19th century in most aspects, with one big exception being that firearms development is stunted to somewhere closer to the mid-17th. Society is somewhat more medieval in ways, like the fact that most of the known world generally adheres to a single church, not having had an event like the Reformation splitting western Christendom asunder, or the lack of republics anywhere.
I suppose my suggestion, from what you have in your WIP application and wanting him to be a hybrid Elemental, is that Shawn Meldrich comes from a respectable old knight family, perhaps with a lordly title like baron, viscount, or earl, and comes from somewhere in southwestern Albrion, perhaps near the city of Galabow. From here things can branch off considerably. Being 19, he might have just missed going off to fight in the Wide Northern War that other members of his family would have by only a year. Now he sets off on his own, heading west to the nearest port, St. Veowulf, to sail off somewhere exciting and different from the hills and woods he's known all his life. Or maybe he already ran away from home to fight in the exciting war, ignoring his family's demand to stay out of it since they had no desire to fight the men of eastern Albrion and the rest of Galllia's north, and since the United Galllian Federation's defeat he has been wandering without home or purpose. Or another vague idea is that rather than fight for the U.G.F, he ran away to fight for the North's freedom from a greedy and godless South. Since the war ended almost a year ago he has been wandering the land. Could it be because he doesn't want to go home to his pro-Federation family? Is it perhaps because his family are secretly pro-Commonwealth but must maintain the appearance of being loyal to the U.G.F to avoid the wrath of the Duke of Galabow, who remained with the U.G.F while his old rival the Duke of Haventown seceded?
What values would you be interested in playing? Such as...Does Shawn see himself as a knight-errant, a wandering do-gooder from stories of old?
Does he want to be powerful, physically or politically?
Does he just want to get paid?
What colour is his toothbrush?
What level of devoutness does young Meldrich have?
Is he his family's heir, or a third/fourth/etc. son who must make his own way in the world?
Are you more interested in having him be a single free bird, or a serial womaniser, or maybe he has a certain damsel waiting for him back home?

He’ll be a hybrid of earth and fire. Shawn will come from a respected family of earl? He’s the third born of four children and he pretty much has to make his own way in the world so he sets of on a adventure. He wants to be powerful in the physical aspect. Although he comes from a political family he doesn’t like politics. For now he’s single but he eventually will want to find that special lass. This is just part of the background.

Additionally, I had mentioned that there was a sort of national registry and service requirement for spellborn - sort of like Korean mandatory military service, if you will. Odell could have been swept up into the war that way, if you need any backstory ideas.

For the next four years he would be learning this element along with his studies and various other “electives” as his parents called it. In those four years he would also learn to ride a horse as well. Unfortunately as family traditions the third and fourth born if there were any would have to leave the house and make themselves a living in the outer world, so when Shawn was sixteen he was kicked out of the house. He was given a horse. He took along his shield, sword, spear, bow along with some arrows, and two daggers. Well, most of Alexei’s experience came from skirmishes against other provinces (frowned on, but it happens), the constant fighting on the Yelhennei/Garmiccian border, and the Definitely Not Garmiccian privateer ships. There haven’t been any large wars in Elcresia as far as I’m aware, but plenty of smaller conflicts to gain experience from.

Weaknesses: Quick to jump to conclusions and to be influenced by the people he trusts. Does not thoroughly think through the effects his actions may have on other people and their environment. Due to being in the service of the military his whole life, he does not really understand the differences between men and women either. It's also safe to say he hasn't had too much interaction with the opposite sex.

Along with a very large shield to accommodate his size, armor, a cloak, a travel pack, and a bed roll tailored to his size.
Bio:
Ondell was born in Garmiccia to parents unknown to himself. They could have been peasants, nobles, or anything in between really. All Ondell knows is that they dropped him off with the military to be raised as a soldier for his land. He has no family name and none was left with him on that fateful night, so the soldiers named him Ondell. Though he could have had a better childhood, he was still raised decently despite the ongoing conflict when he was very young. He was taught to read and how to speak properly, he never went particularly hungry, and sometimes he even had time to go out and play when he was younger. He was always delighted to hear how revered the soldiers of his land were and how they would be reincarnated because of their valiance in battle and commitment to their country. Because of this, Ondell naturally wanted to begin training just like his military family did as soon as he was able to. So as he grew and grew, he trained more and more to be just like the soldiers that raised him, putting blood and sweat into his craft of being an exemplary soldier. Ondell noticed that he was different than the other soldiers quite regularly mainly due to his innately amazing combat capability. Eventually though, he started to notice other things. He got very, very tall. So tall that quite a few soldiers appeared to be mere children in comparison to his height. Another thing was his blue blood. All of the other soldiers he knew bled red except for himself. The thing that most defined him from the others though was his innate ability to manipulate lightning.
He discovered his ability to control and cast lightning spells when he was fifteen. This, unbeknownst to Ondell, was the key to getting him conscripted to fight in the many skirmishes across the Garmiccian border and with various other precincts. Because of how much pure fighting the lightning elemental did, He became very proficient with not only his greatsword and massive shield, but also with his magic as well. He truly became a force to be reckoned with, combining his heavy hitting magic with his powerful sword strikes. Soon enough he would be conscripted into the Wide Northern War. In it he fought valiantly for his country, striking down his foes without mercy. That was of course, until the Watchtower began to spread their altered paramilitary troops throughout their forces. He had never been one to question the motivation and drive of the military, but the Watchtower had given him a reason to doubt. Their soldiers were...unnatural to say the least. They were vicious, bloodthirsty, and had no sense of honor when it came to battles. They would kill and kill and kill without question just like soldiers. The difference was that they appeared to relish in the bloodshed they caused, something that Ondell had only ever associated with daemmons and their kin.
Watching his brothers in arms die while more and more of these creatures were created and thrust into the fray ate away at Ondell. He could not stand for a country that sought to utilize such vile magic while his brothers and sisters died in front of him. Eventually, he went forth into a battle where all that remained standing was the vile creatures of the Watchtower, and himself. Something in that moment snapped in him, something that would awaken his inner fury towards the Watchtower and the Heretics of the world. Creatures such as these did not belong on this plane, and neither did those people that sought to use them. Storm clouds gathered above the remains of the battlefield as Ondell's hatred and rage began to bubble over, the sky crackling with electricity. On that fateful night, Ondell let his wrath wreak havoc upon the forces of the Watchtower, turning what was already a damaged battlefield into an area of scorched earth.
Now, Ondell has taken the task to eliminate the heretics of the world upon himself and has since departed from his home in the military to pursue his newly discovered path.

Good for the most part. One minor correction: he would want to be the most powerful ElementL, not elementalist. Elementals and the Elements they wield are proper nouns in this setting.

Bio:
Shawn Meldrich was born near the city of Galabow in southern western Albrion. He was the third of four sons. He came from a respectable Earl family in the area. Shawn as a child had been very curious and had a thirst for knowledge. He’ll go around town and observe the blacksmith, craftsmen and would go fishing and hunting with men. When Shawn was six he showed a keen curiosity for elemental magic so his father who was a master in the earth element began to teach him the element. Over the years he would be taught swordsmanship, crafts of various kinds, archery, hunting and fishing. When he reached his eleventh year he had successfully mastered the earth element surprising his parents. When he was twelve, He showed a keen interest in learning a second element in which his parents were very skeptical about since it was very rare. To their surprise they realized that Shawn was a very special boy, he had the ability to learn a second element so his mom a master with the fire element started to show him as well. For the next three years he would live of the land while wandering around the wilderness, he would occasionally go into towns to get some jobs for money so he could restock on clothes and other necessities. He wants to be the most powerful elemental the world has ever seen.

Elementals and the Elements they wield are proper nouns in this setting. The words themselves like fire, water, etc aren't always capitalised, unless it's in the context of magic.
Looks good!
Awesome! Is there anything that I need to change about mine or is the character good to go as is?

Kassaran wrote:It's at this point I've realized, Erosen never had his height mentioned. It was just kind of assumed he was tall but always slouched or crouched or just refused to be tall. I guess I can actually just point him oput to actually be well into six feet four or so inches in height. If he wasn't actually emaciated, he'd probably weigh almost 240 pounds with muscle and everything. Right now, he's about 185-ish pounds... so whip-thin and straw-strong.
