I take it no one here wants to play Stellaris?
I may return for somewhat longer than I was initially expecting. Why am I here? No idea whatsoever. I really ought to find some way out of this place.

Also, the NS stats don't reflect my RL views, just to clarify.

Had a discussion with one of my friends. He said that certain college degrees can be used as proxies to determine what someone is like as a person and if they'd be a cultural fit (this is assuming they've demonstrated an understanding of the technical requirements), and that he'll often use this as a deciding factor when hiring someone (again, assuming all other qualities are the same).

There's a certain group of degrees that he referred to as "walking lawsuits waiting to happen" and will not hire them. See if you can guess what they are.

Hmm... my intended path (as of right now) is actuarial science, so I'm pursuing mathematics for my bachelor's degree. My older brother is pursuing a communications major (with an emphasis on journalism and such). Thus, I'm going to guess that mathematics and communications are the "walking lawsuits waiting to happen" degrees.

EDIT: /sarcasm, because apparently it wasn't clear

Novus America wrote:No, it has other sources of aid, and again Serbia cannot realistically take it and does not really want to. At most it takes the three Serb municipalities of Kosovo. The rest would stay independent or go to Albania.

Serbs are currently about 80% of the population of Serbia.
Add Kosovo and it drops to about 60%.

Given Kosovar Albanians have a much higher birth rate, and the Serb population is falling, you can see why they do not really want it. In a few decades Serbs would be a minority in Serbia.

The cringey memes are just that. Putin is not going to be ridding in on a bear to remove kebab or whatever nonsense.

Serbia has lost most of Kosovo and cannot realistically get it back.
The Serbian leadership surely knows this. They cannot admit it openly but it is the simple truth. Notice how they have not really made any real move to actually change the situation. It is actually in the best interest of Serbia to uphold the status quo.

I agree with all of this. I would add that Kosovo is the most underdeveloped and deprived region of the ex-Yu, so forcibly taking back Kosovo would set Serbia back economically. Serbia is at the level of development that we (Croatia) were 15 or 20 years ago. The country relies heavily on foreign investment. Doing anything to flare up tensions in Kosovo would scare off investors and destroy any chance Serbia has at joining the EU.

You are right that the current stalled status of Kosovo is probably in the best interests of Vučić and the SNS. It allows Vučić to take a big nationalistic stance while other issues plaguing Serbia (corruption, low wages, emigration, the environment etc) are swept under the carpet.

There was one a few years ago, although it wasn't multiplayer. Someone made civilizations based on us and had them all fight it out to see who would win.

Right, so. Don’t put things in parentheses. Your explanation of detail that your path is mathematics but technically subject to change? Unneeded. Drop it, it’s overlong. The same goes for your brother’s emphasis. Drop that too. Never use “thus” in a joke. Avoid overly-large words. String your sentences together, don’t have each one establish a new idea.

Basically-your speech isn’t suited for humor.

Nice, I didn't know that. It would mean no interference in the selection process of the lama's next reincarnation.

Yuan Shikai's attempt to restore the Chinese monarchy with himself as the new emperor is fascinating, even though it was doomed to failure.

What's so fascinating about it other than "traitorous autocrat gets too big for his boots"?
