I am not...Trump shoots himself in the foot on a daily basis. I'm saying that if the US government was 100% on board and not beholden to free-trade oriented special interest groups, we'd dominate China in a trade war.

They lack the ability to engage in and win strategic nuclear warfare. With that said, however, I'm not afraid to lose San Francisco or Chicago, to be honest. Removing the largest extant threat to the United States in the modern area is worth the cost; the USSR, afterall, lost 30 million to defeat the Reich.

China's been waging a trade war against us since the early 1990s. Either they stop their shit or we hit them back hard.

Tit-for-tat tariffs aren't the way to win a trade war. Going somewhere else is.

That just kicks the can down the road and doesn't solve the structural problem that America's working class has been decimated by globalization.

Moving manufacturing to Vietnam won't change our position.

The only place I think it would make sense to outsource would be Latin America, as if could bring Latin America's living standards at least somewhat closer to ours and thus massively cut back on immigration. These would also be trade relationships where we'd have a lot more power to get favorable terms for ourselves. But even then, it's not as good as developing a self-sufficient smart economy back home where our working class is supported by the state.

It would still kill a significant amount of people and cause a modern civilization collapse, don’t pretend a nuclear war would be all sunshine and rainbows when it would actually be ash and radiation.

It likely wouldn't even collapse modern civilization. Even if all the northern hemisphere countries bamboozled each other with bombs and had no survival plans the southern hemisphere would largely be fine minus serious economic woes.

Short term Africa is good as cheap labor, the continent industrializes and China’s “takeover” is halted.

Long term, robots will replace people in factory’s having the cheapest “labour” in the us. And having a (hopefully) skilled retrained workforce. Going back to trade school, college, military, or retirement.
