I mean if the majority of people in a state which to succeed then sure. That does not seem like the case at the moment but if that ever arises it may be a good idea to introduce a legal method for states to succeed if the majority of the residents wish to.

To be specific, America has the world's 3rd largest navy, after China and North Korea, but it's the best navy. America can control the world with it's armada, having the same number of aircraft carriers as the rest of the world combined. Their carriers are the best in the world, and that really goes for all of their military assets. Besides, as for power projection, America is bordered by huge oceans and allies. America is secure in North and South America with friends like Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. Europe is pretty easy, what with that whole NATO thing. With allies like Turkey(NATO), Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, the Middle East is under their thumb. Speaking of Egypt, it is the most powerful country in Africa, and so that country along with other key friends like South Africa, grant American leverage over Africa(not to mention their hundreds of bases in Africa). Australia is an ally, so that leaves only one region where America's control isn't the greatest: Asia. Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea are really important, and they are important allies in Southeast Asia. India and Pakistan are pretty friendly also, and America has a great launchpad in Afghanistan.

Never has an empire had such a great grip on international affairs.

I think if America falls, the EU will become the superpower. I think Russia and China would have already been destroyed in WW3, and in the aftermath, America falls into civil war and collapses. Then, Europe(or really, Britain and France) annex the rest of EU and form a European empire, that becomes the world's superpower, the second Rome.

I feel somewhat confident that most people here don't actually want people to die, so I can tell you that you aren't the only one who hopes that.

A lot of people saying they want division is actually Americans themselves, which would be confusing of you forget to realize that the people who say this also are the type of people who don't logically think ahead.
