It's because of all our complaints about die hard not being on the list, isn't it?

Not only all that, but the events of the film help the protagonist learn that family is more important than his own ego/job/non-Christmassy everyday affairs and distractions! I don't know what more you could want from a Christmas movie.

Hartfelden's poll is also in a large majority in agreement that Die Hard is in fact a Christmas movie.

Over here in the UK, there was usually at least one 'Bond' film and one Disney film shown on [mainstream] television each Christmas during my teens... and 'Star Wars' (the original film) became a fairly regular fixture as well. Oh, and that's probably when 'The Wizard of Oz' was most likely to be repeated, too.

Skipping out another week, my favorite thing to do on New Year's Day is watch the NHL Winter Classic (go Bruins Preds!), and then switch to the Sci-Fi (excuse me, "Syfy") channel's Twilight Zone marathon.

I'm going to suggest a relatively uncommon film that I happen to love. It's called Bell, Book, and Candle (1958) starring Kim Novak and James Stewart, and directed by Richard Quine. It's a quirky film about a witch in Greenwich Village who falls in love with a publisher around Christmas, and it gets weirder from there. Great film, a lesser known work of Stewarts, but still a good movie. Also, there's a cute cat.

We'll pour you a large glass - pop round in December, and we'll have it waiting for you.

We'll be playing a modified version of our Christmassy Games. Emoji charades and Candy Cane Duelling will be happening on our RMB all through Advent. Look forward to seeing you all!

And don't forget your nominations for Santa's Nice List! If you know of a nation that has done something special for the community (not yourself!), drop me a DM saying who, why (in a couple of sentences), and which standard emoji you would give them as a gift.

Oof. If this were a bracket, that's three #1 seeds and a #2 seed crammed into the same regional block. How many from each heat enter the next stage?
