Dyste wrote:"I am flattered by the suggestion, Claudia," Tyroth said in response the offer to research the origin on Draconids, "But I feel this is a matter that I feel is best left to our own people." The Dystans were known to be among the best in Mystria when it came to matters of archiving history and obtaining relics, given the long lives and large amount of adventurers, with many discoveries found by Tyroth himself. They could also be immensely stubborn about asking for aid from other lands. Perhaps it was a bit of draconic pride within them that made them feel that way? "If you wish to look at our airships, I can take you for a tour later on, but I would first like to settle our matters here, and also rendezvous with Rylux if he does indeed intend on meeting us."

James meanwhile offered one of the glass tubes with blue lightning to Claudia, "Here, from a fellow researcher to another. It looks simple enough, but it's basically a battery able to be recharged with lightning magic. See, Mages have energy that a lotta people don't have access to, and they can be used to power devices like this. There's more than just lightning magic y'can do this for, wing magic can help fly airships, fire magic can help with heatin', that sorta stuff. A lotta people make the mistake that magic and technology can't be combined, or that tech has made magic obsolete. But no, I know better. If combined, great things can happen... so long as this remains in the right hands. I'm from Corneria originally, and I know that they used to do terrible things with this sorta stuff. It's a tool, able to be used for good or bad. It's the user that makes all the difference."

"I understand the reluctance that you might share about allowing a foreign organisation to research something that is close to the heart of the foundation of your people, however if I may say the Malgravean people initially had a similar reluctance about Spirean offers of assistance against MIDD, as well sadly for a brief period of time we failed to adequately follow the principles of social solidarity and allowed our pride in our own research teams to dictate our actions. In time we eventually accepted the offer of Spirean assistance and our research efforts on that front has been greatly assisted, however we are still mournful of the decision we took earlier. Perhaps the Dystan teams investigating this point of origin would benefit from the assistance of the Ancestral Study Group? I won't press the matter harshly but I think that it is an important lesson to take hold." Claudia said with a reassuring smile, the Minister of Science & Engineering wasn't exactly trained in the intricacies of diplomacy but she knew that starting an argument with a large dragon wasn't the brightest of ideas, especially when the Foreign Ministry wished to strengthen relations between the two nations, "I look forward to meeting Rylux. I understand that his actions have gained himself and Zahhak quite a few fans in Malgrave."

Claudia meanwhile was rather confused by the offering of one of the glass tubes, of course the Malgravean understood the basic principles behind the device but she had no idea why she was being handed such a thing in the middle of a tour of the ASG HQ, "Yes. I am quite aware of the link between magic and technology, Comrade. I have led the creation of quite a few new research departments to explore the front of a field we call Magitech since become Minister of Science & Engineering. In terms of this specific device I must confess that I am rather skeptical of its practicality in all formats due to its presence in a glass tube. I certainly hope that it comes in sturdier formats? If it doesn't I can see that it would need a few improvements in order to be truly effective in the Malgravean market."

The Ctan wrote:“Oh,” Aiyana said, she spoke after a long moment of consideration, she had wanted to sit in it, but she had not quite thought it through. The image of Eliot kneeling before her came unbidden, and she shook herself mentally. Her eyes opened, and she looked at her, she was a little embarrassed, her own identity was her own business but she did not want the attention that would come with her telling them. “I have used some… related technologies before,” she said, “I was probing its readiness system to find out where it comes from,” she already knew the answer to that one. “How much do you know about the device? The place where you found it wasn’t its original housing, at least I don’t believe so,” she said without explaining why, “I would speculate that when you found it, its weapons had been expended defending against some attack. Interfacing with it I can tell,” she already had, “that it can call flocks much more extensive than your artwork suggests.”

“And I think I can tell you where the ammunition store is, too. Sadly there’s no output systems here to actually display coordinates,” she said, “so if it’s where I believe it is, it will be a little bit of a bother to find it.” She pursed her lips.

She had tried to keep peace for many years, and to shape the perhaps-eventually-great civilization to something wise enough to use the power it had, perhaps she would one day be able to say they’d lived up to that, but there were times that hadn’t been the case. She was only one person, and not any sort of god or supreme sage, but her contribution had been enough to rest.

She had, until recently, not known this history; the universe was infinite, and she had not heard of this, to come face to face with it, that was something else. “I need to rest,” she said, and think, she stood up, and looked at Eliot again, directly in the eye, “at least mentally. I am willing to wager,” she said, “this place has a killer cafe and gift shop. Am I right?”

Eliot brightened up visibly as the C'tani representative opened her eyes, the Foreign Minister didn't enjoy watching people in discomfort and Ancestor Day was meant to be a rather pleasant experience for everyone involved.

"It is not a stretch of the imagination to picture that the C'tan have a similar piece of technology. It would be rather foolish to assume that the Ancients were the only civilisation in the universe to imagine such a concept, so do not worry about offending our sensibilities," Eliot said assuming that Aiyana's discomfort over offending her Malgravean hosts on the day of the Ancestors, "It was discovered shortly after the establishment of the Malgravean nation on our original homeland during an expedition into an Ancient structure. Sadly due to the nature of the Great Exodus, a great number of historical records relating to the device were lost. It is said that a beautiful steam of light emerged from the ASG centre and destroyed a large portion of the Imerian invaders before an unknown technical issue stopped the device from working and the rest is history."

Eliot's smile brightened even more at Aiyana's mentioning of the ASG cafe, a place that unbeknownst to many non-Malgraveans was a rather important part of Malgravean society.

"You haven't lived until you've seen some of the cute drone plushies that they have on sale or enjoyed a few globi with some of the new Spirean tea on offer."

"Ah yes, I have heard about little Zahhak's increasing fame in this part of the world," Tyroth recalled that while his daughter Tynah was probably the most well-known Dystan in the nearby nation of Rohane Alista, it was the kobold partner of the Dystan Sage of Expeditions who seemed to be the favourite among Malgrave, his fame meeting to possibly even surpassing the king's own. "Perhaps I can see about buying one of his plushies while I am here, GHAHAHA! ... that said, I understand how you feel, though I am trying to leave such decisions about assistance to Parliament nowadays. The time has gone when I am the sole decision maker for Dyste, a fact that I could not be happier about."

"Oh, of course y'can make this work with a lot of things," James remarked, "It's just that you need the right materials for the right element. Make something with a low melting point and you can't contain fire magic, for example. Likewise, gotta be careful what you store electricity in, just like with normal power supplies. I can assure you that this glass is more reinforced than your typical light bulb, but I can understand the concern."

"It is quite a wise decision to allow parliament to take a more active role in the decision making progress, the roles I have with the Ancestral Study Group and the Free Democratic Youth in addition to my responsibilities with the Ministry of Science & Engineering mean that I don't have the time I once used to engage in recreation activities so I can't imagine the workload that would be involved in running an entire country, although on that note I do have a potential solution," Claudia said pausing for a few moments to best figure out how to put her proposals into words, "Malgrave has two major youth organisations being the Pioneers and the FDY, however, somewhat recently it has been noted that they haven't adequately focused on outdoors skills and well changes are being made to change that. I believe that quite a few nations in the Mystrian region have youth organisations and groups that are dedicated to promoting such skills, an international group to coordinate these organisations and foster friendship between all would do a great deal towards increasing the bonds of friendship and harmony and perhaps in the future when you've got more time to yourself you could lead such an organisation. It wouldn't be the same as going off on wild adventures but I believe that sparking the curiosity of adventure and other important skills in the next generation would just be as satisfying but well that is just a thought that I have had in this moment."

"You are quite correct about the troubles of finding a suitable containment material, although I am quite impressed that you have been able to get the glass casing to contain such a manner of magical sources given the varied nature of the field," Claudia said inspecting the technology further, "Is it able to be produced in large numbers at the moment? It would be quite a suitable power source for regions that don't wish to pollute their environment but haven't progressed to the point of reliable renewable electricity, although I don't suppose it would work in places that are creepily anti-magic like Rohane Alista," the Malgravean pondered, "If you use it to contain a healing spell then you could use it to provide emergency care in rather remote regions that typically won't have access to advanced healers, with the only thing being it needed to be recharged from time to time. Quite an interesting bit of technology and one that I am certain that MalTec and MalPha would be pleased to explore further."
