Not necessarily the same things that Tulsi Gabbard likes to screech about.

America's imperial foreign policy for the last couple of decades is absolutely what's wrong with America.

Gabbard seems more interested in whining about the internal workings of the Democratic primary.

Bernie's better than her for foreign policy -- willing to question militarism, but more level-headed.

Well given that she's still chiming in on shit and calling her colleagues Russian assets, it seems like public discussion about her is warranted, even if most people want her gone from the public sphere.

Giving Trump credit for the economy is like dropping a rock off a bridge and claiming it’s a world champion at falling.

Tbh I don't even think being politics is that big of an accomplishment. About 95% of the effort goes into just getting elected, but once you're in you can basically do fuckall on the job. Incumbents are usually pretty safe, and then appointments up from there are really just based on relationships.

It's who you know, not what you know.

A recession was always coming due to the end of the business cycle (something no president has control over). Most people thought it would come around 2017-2018, but Trump's election had two important effects. It boosted consumer confidence, which actually did correlate with a rise in spending over that period, thus keeping economic growth strong. We also got a tax cut, that has keep corporate valuations high and staved off the slow-down in corporate profits that was already in the making (essentially pushing it back by 2-3 years).

If Trump were to end the trade war, then the recession will likely be pushed back to beyond 2022. It will still happen eventually, however, simply due to business cyclicality.

Oh, I don’t deny that it was going to happen regardless. However, Trump’s policies (which basically amount to rampaging about like a bull in a china shop) will make the actual fallout worse. He may have delayed it, but he’s worsened the effects.

The trade war is the most significant thing he's doing to affect the economy, but that could end tomorrow for all we know. I still don't see the fallout being that bad (this is independent of Trump). Unlike 2008, there isn't a credit bubble that would cause a liquidity crisis. Banks seem to have learned their lesson and been a lot more conservative (they probably know they can't expect a bailout this time around, as that would probably start a revolution).

Expect the coming recession to be more like the early 90s recession. Hard, but not catastrophic, and brief. There isn't going to be another Lehman Brothers or Bear Stearns (lol), but we will see things like more retailers closing and construction slow down.

It really is.

The only reason a Presidential candidate would respond to a charge from Hillary (where her name wasn't even mentioned), would be if she were in truly in league with America's enemies.

Remember when Hillary called Donald Trump Putin's puppet in 2016. Trump could have treated the charge as ridiculous. Instead, he projected his own subservience to Vladimir Putin onto Hillary. He outed himself in front of the whole world.

Tulsi did the same thing. She wouldn't have had to take the bait if she weren't bent toward Russia & the Alt-right. Period. End of story.

Foreign relations is something Trump has been half-decent at. The American empire is immoral and unjustifiable. Don't deny that there was a strong isolationist streak to Trump's campaign, and I think his voters actually expected some sort of disengagement from the world's conflict zones.

Now that said, Trump hasn't done the best job of disengaging. For every move to disengage us from Syria or move towards peace with North Korea, there is saber rattling against Iran and Venezuela, and Israel seems to "inexplicably" have more control over our foreign policy than ever. Talk about foreign interference. What chutzpah!

Yeah, there's "not messing with/up things that matter most to me" and "running the country well". Which are definitely not the same.

If you're happy with his decisions so far, that's fair. I just don't see that stance as equivalent to good governance and having more than a little cherry picking when looking at past presidents' flaws versus his own.
