on the contrary, I found the joke to be very funny. Funny enough for me to search for this thread. I like that the one-liner makes it seem like the entire issue is just to make a joke. Although, I iimagine many nations won't get the joke.

Thank you! :)

But the credit for that final one-liner joke should go to Candlewhisper Archive, who first suggested it.

Fun fact: backstage, there was also strong discussion about whether the reference should stay or not, as at least one younger editor felt it was seriously far too obscure.

As I'm nearing 40, it was a much more obvious reference for me, but I can see a lot of teens and twenty-somethings not knowing the reference.

The general consensus ultimately was that obscure references are fine so long as:

1) They're funny for the people who get them.
2) The issue still parses right and doesn't look disjointed or stilted for people who don't get the reference.

The question of surrogacy is extremely complex. Many people are still unsure whether such treatment is acceptable or not. But I think it is a really progressive method. Many infertile couples simply have no other options!
I'm from Texas, we are not a poor family, but we can't afford the cost of medical services, such as surrogacy in the United States. What remains to be done except for medical tourism? I cannot have children after a childhood accident. So surrogacy was my only chance to have my own biological child. We chose Ukraine because surrogacy is allowed there. Our clinic is called the Feskov Human Reproduction Group, and all mothers are healthy and tested there. The agreement is supported by a contract, so there is a certain guarantee that everything will be in order. Birth certificates contain only parents, travel documents were received within a few days. And no prohibitions, no fines, take your child and go home to any country in the world. No one will ever know that it is a child from a surrogate mother.

Interesting point, but you may be misinterpreting the purpose of this Forum, which is to write and discuss the creation of issues.

This issue was completed and published a couple of years ago, and this thread was for the discussion of that process. If you're looking for general conversation on the topic, you'd be better off starting a thread in General, rather than Got Issues.
