Probably a good time for everyone to just drop the argument no matter what side you're on.

Dreamplanet: having already been unofficially warned by a Moderator about this barely three and a half hours ago, again you are going beyond the usual line of what we qualify as robust debate in this particular thread. I'll remind you that this is a PG-13 forum and the occasional f-bomb can be put up with, however the tone of your posts is reading, to me, as unnecessarily antagonistic given the collaborative nature of this particular bit of game-within-a-game that we have had going here for fifteen years. You may feel perfectly reasonable and calm, but you're not coming across as such.

Thing is, I'm not that calm because I genuinely believe that I'm just wasting my time here if upward mobility is near impossible and top tier teams are awarded points

As for the rest you posted, I'm well aware of Margaret's tomfoolery but surely this is too far now, like you said the best teams don't always win and the worst teams don't always lose, but a concerning thread of minimal-effort cup winners popping up, maybe I could've gone about it in a different way but I still stand by what I say and I'm not retracting it, I believe that there is a genuine issue that needs to be resolved and brainstorming needs to commence.

Also two mods told you to drop it and you haven't, think about that.

A third mod is now strongly recommending that Dreamplanet drop this.

This attack on Liventia, a respected NS Sports participant with over a decade's experience on these forums is completely unwarranted.

You are neither winning friends nor influencing people. I think logging off and taking a deep breath before posting again would likely be the best course of action.

Another one that cannot read I see? Let me give you the tl;dr for you lot that can't read, player engagement is the most important part of NSS, having people that barely enter a RP win the entire contest is highly discouraging to those who actually want to try, I never said that I deserved to win the CoH, the World Cup or even the Campionato Esportiva, I'm just upset with the way that in 2 tournaments now, the winners have been high-ranking nations with minimal involvement, NSS is meant to be fun all round, not for the elite few.

I have dropped it largely, I'm just not happy with how Liventia is going about with it, as a matter of fact you just acted as his echo chamber.

I'm gonna leave it off here, I'm not here to win friends, I've given up on that with this community after leaving the NSS Discord and in all honesty NSS is the only thing i do on Nationstates so I might aswell have some fun, I don't give a fuck as to who is respected and who is not, they're all equal to me and I will not stand by someone dropping in and just simply incorrectly assuming what i said and Xanneria just reiterating that in a bastardised version. Something has to change about this and someone just saying "you're just mad cause you didn't win" changes nothing about my points, It's just nothing but white noise.

I'm just here to tie up loose ends spouted by tossers and I'll call it a day, message has been received about the flaws in the current system.

Dreamplanet, I get that you're upset about the CoH, and you're not entirely wrong to feel that way. You're hardly the first person to be disappointed at the result of a tournament on NS Sports, I think most of the community's members have been there before at one point or another. However, you've made your point abundantly clear, and getting into emotional arguments with your peers isn't going to help your cause at all. As such, I would urge you to take a break from NS for a day or two.

I also firmly believe that if you bring about change on NS Sports, it generally works best if you do it yourself, as I've done a few times in my time here. After you've thought it over a bit, If you still feel that the changes you've mentioned are necessary, then I'd recommend that you come up with a concrete proposal of what exactly you would alter in the organization, hosting, and/or scorination of tournaments and your rationales behind those changes and post them here for the community to discuss. Then, I would recommend that you either bid for a tournament with your proposed changes, or create an invitational of some sort with the changes. That way, we can see how well the changes would work in practice as well as in theory.

I have considered myself fortunate that I've had Banija to collaborate with over the last 14 or so months. I originally worked off his Civil War thread, and we have a great understanding of throwing out broad topics and working it through, as an extension of characters and story lines from that period. You see the nations who can weave in the long gone topics--S Covello and the Gregists, FFR...I don't have to know the details of those things to understand the current context.

I'm seeing a lot of promise in the tangent about Cocoa-bo/BCEL/Vilita that they have waded into, so I am excited about that as well.

You've done some great stuff, Brusseldorf. The nations you want to get hooked up with are others in your same situation--you're in a region that doesn't have an NSSport identity, but that can still work in your advantage, as there are plenty of other participants in the same boat (IAC). Hell, I've go no problem working with anyone not AO--which I do in NSCF without thinking about it.

All that being said, I really wanted to come and wish good luck to the four semi-finalists; I have the greatest respect for all of them, so I can't even really have a rooting interest.

Congrats to MNM on the Cup of Harmony victory and to Equestria and Starblaydia for making it to the World Cup final. And most importantly a big thanks to all the hosts for doing The Thankless Job™.

Even if this was personally a disappointing cycle overall, with a little hindsight, I'm flattered Maggie chose to dick around with Saltstead this entire cycle. After all, it does mean senpai noticed me. :p

Ever since Audio's post before the group stage, I've been hearing Shawn Mendes' Senorita everywhere... and now it sticks in my head every time because my brain instantly goes "I hate it when we're drawn in with Vilita/I wish I could predict that we'll not meet-a..." I can't handle it anymore. So thanks for the earworm. >:( :p

I'd like to thank all of you guys for allowing me to co-host a World Cup once again, and the second in three editions.

It's awesome being entrusted with the responsibility of half of the the forum's largest non-Olympic tournament, and being the most junior member of the Executive World Cup Committee. Lots of late nights, but very much enjoyed. The level of RP we had in this tournament was extremely high-quality, and I enjoyed reading all of your RPs. We've got quite a community here- I'll raise my glass to 83 more :)

Alright, thank you to all who took part in this World Cup, it was a hell of a tournament that was an absolute blast to host. I hope to see y'all for World Cup 84. Also, special thanks go to Banija for co-hosting and being a great partner in running this edition of the tournament.

Post-WC83 SRS rankings update is now available

Key: 7 points for winning the World Cup. 6 points for second place. 5 points for third place. 4 points for fourth place. 3 points for elimination in the quarterfinals. 2 points for elimination in the second round. 1 point for elimination in the group stage.

The nation with the most points not yet in the World Cup Nations' Hall of Fame following World Cup 83 is Equestria, an active nation with 26 points from 12 finals appearances. As such, Equestria joins the Hall of Fame as the WC83 inductee.

As always, if you catch any potential errors, please shoot me a TG or PM so I can fix them.

Congratulations to our medalists Banija, Starblaydia and (especially) Equestrian States! Even though my direct participation was very limited this time around, I kept up with the progress of the tournament and am delighted at how it all played out both in terms of the hosting and the results. Look out for full-strength Cosumar next time ;)

Oh sure, wins AND gets the HoF nod. Uh-huh... :eyebrow:

Seriously, congratulations to a well deserved winner. Thanks to the co-hosts. Of the four WC's I've been part of, it was the most memorable.
