There's this fetishism of minorities and oppression. Instead of looking for what will unite the most people, they search for the most oppressed minority out there and fetishize them to the point of alienating some of those who would be sensible to the bigger message.

It does not matter the methods of reaching their goals, the point is that they have similar social views( social liberalism) and the same rhetoric as well as supporting the same things that the right accuses of being "SJWs". 100% correct. There seems to be a fallacy among a lot of leftists that minorities and women are automatically going to be super progressive. It was particularly bad in the 2016 Democratic primaries where anyone who supported Bernie was labelled a "Bernie bro" as if the only reason they supported Bernie over Hillary was because she was a woman and they were misogynists.
