Because regardless of what the West does the Orient while just continue to pollute and render any of our attempts to save the planet no matter how noble ( which would be horribly costly by the way and lead to mass unemployment) futile.

You’re aware that climate change, besides killing millions and causing an unprecedented refugee crisis would also crash the global economy and screw over your food supply.
Also…Solar isn’t the way.

It is a nation which worships a piece of cloth and its military and forces its children to pledge their allegiance to the nation every day. It already has the symbolism of a fascist state, along with the national consciousness of one (see: American 'patriotism' (i.e nationalism) and American exceptionalism), so it is merely an inevitably that it would become one.
As Upton Sinclair once said:
"When fascism comes to America, it shall be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."
Looks like he was right.
I'm not saying Trump is a fascist (well, he is, internally, but he just can't act as one due to the constraints of American politics), but that his election symbolises the collapse of the United States into fascism.

Do you love your country and you want your children to love their country and its people too? How dare you, Franco.

I want us to no longer be linked on oil from middle east so we need to go renewable. If are truly eco friendly you go after China and 3rd world get them on board with renewable tech and lecture the west who does very little harm in comparison.[/quote]

How is reciting a pledge weird? A pledge is about recounting your allegiance and obligations to your country and what it represents, its not anything authoritarian, its more culturally-symbolic if anything else

Patriotism≠nationalism≠fascism.

Just seems like a relic of authoritarian states, I guess. The act itself might not be inherently authoritarian, but it’s now associated with nationalist authoritarianism.

Even if it resembles something an authoritarian state would do, that doesn't mean the act itself is authoritarian or bad. It's why I personally think the US shouldn't have done away with the Bellamy salute just because of resemblance reasons, not a good reason to do away with something.
A pledge is just a way of renewing your promise to the country and its people and to remind you of that promise, that's all. Its nothing really binding and its not a contract or anything, its just words.
