it really throws me sometimes in this RP, we have held characters to a really high standard of realism (which I LOVE BTW) but those accepted in its earlier incarnation and who have had such an impact were held to a MUCH lower standard of realism.

I mean there are strange cases like Joe Walsh, so we just treat them as anomalies

I can’t say the same about any of the 2016 candidates. They were all so....eh. For prospective 2020 ones, I can say with convinction that I would support Patton, probably.

Donald Johnson announced he was running for the seat, somehow no other Democrat ran.

Seeing an opening, the Greens recruited longtime investigative journalist and famous California broadcaster Reginaldo Alphonsey to run.

The Phonz surged, DJ flopped, and Fox did surprisingly well.

Dems got humiliated, blocked out of a (at the time) Green and Republican. First big Green victory. Donald Johnson turns into a militant anti-Green figure, raising conspiracy theories on Walton, the Greens cheating, and the idea that the Green Party is a terror organization.

Greens become Prog. Scandal emerges over Fox’s business ties, Phonz has to challenge Fox in rural areas, lacking the LA Dem machine.

De Nieto endorses Phonz late in the race, helping him to win at the same time as Reed.

The Johnsons still assure the world that they were cheated out of a senate seat.

Now the Johnsons have been vindicated. Fox has yet to emerge from the woodwork.
