200 dead in 48 hours seems like a greater argument for better licencing of those operating motor vehicles.

I don't even live in the US and it's been a major talking-point for the media here. Mass shootings are treated extremely seriously where I live. And to see it happen in a developed nation like the US is especially worrisome.

Considering that gun ownership doesn't correlate with homicide rate at all, I doubt it has any effect.
