This morning the Unitary Commissioner's iconic Æ540 departed from May-Nebulou International as she embarks to begin her three day state visit to Capsland, the first Damsmarian state visit to the nation. The Unitary Commission has been hinting at the visit since the very beginning of Anderson's tenure as Unitary Commissioner, it is rumoured that planning for the trip begun prior to the local elections. Her journey to Capsland comes as Damsmarian-VU relations have improved significantly within recent times, the Commissioner making it a campaign pledge to try and bring down barriers to trade between Damsmar and the worlds biggest single market. However while Damsmarian-VU relations have improved, Christina Anderson herself has seen relations with Soldurs Des fall heavily as Montserrat Diegas (Leader of Soldurs Des) renegades on their (sort of confidence and supply) deal with the Alternate Liberal party in order to help form a government majority within the parliament. Soldurs Des did not ask for the position of Deputy Unitary Commissioner when they negotiated the agreement as the party would not go back into government so early after having gave up their power within it.
Today they have renegaded on that position. Mr. Diegas said this to Jerene Anrala today on the morning news; "Our party aren't willing to back any bills by the government until we reopen confidence and supply negotiations. Our part of the agreement was upheld fully, but they completely folded on their side. Going into these negotiations we want to see positions we've outlined within the Unitary Commission opened up, and we crucially want to see the position of Deputy Unitary Commissioner as well be up for negotiation. We are calling for these talks, of course after her time in Capsland, because the agreement we had has become dysfunctional and it is within the best interest of the government that they come to us."
He struck an usually political tone, but the substance of the new position of Soldurs Des will be very worrying for Anderson. Though we do find it unlikely that the Alternate Liberals will give the position of Deputy Commissioner, its likely they understand as do many of our political analysts within S7NN that this is all smoke and mirrors to give Soldurs Des an excuse to try and help bring down the government along with the other opposition parties that voted in favour of a Unitary Election a few months ago.
As many suspect that by this stage the Unitary Commissioner has chucked her phone down the airplane toilet, Anderson will be coming back to Damsmar having to face what will look like a very different political scene not only within parliament, but within the country too.
